As South Africa continues to celebrate 2024's record-breaking matric results and starts the new school year, the Zero Dropout Campaign says the country still needs to interrogate the progress of the education system not just over the past year, but the past 30 years. Despite this improvement and South Africa's large investment in basic education, an estimated four in ten learners who enrol in Grade 1 still exit the schooling system before finishing matric. Zero Dropout Campaign conducted a survey to understand South Africa's Education and Dropout experiences and found that financial strain, drugs and criminal behaviour are some of the reasons for the exodus among learners. Big Idea: Jesus's plan is far beyond your wildest dreams. In the Beginning: Joseph Genesis 41:37-57 I. Your efforts could never produce God-sized results.   37-45 The proposal pleased Pharaoh and all his servants, and he said to them, “Can we find anyone like this, a man who has God's spirit in him?” So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one as discerning and wise as you are. You will be over my house, and all my people will obey your commands. Only I, as king, will be greater than you.” Pharaoh also said to Joseph, “See, I am placing you over all the land of Egypt.” Pharaoh removed his signet ring from his hand and put it on Joseph's hand, clothed him with fine linen garments, and placed a gold chain around his neck. He had Joseph ride in his second chariot, and servants called out before him, “Make way!” So he placed him over all the land of Egypt. Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh and no one will be able to raise his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt without your permission.” Pharaoh gave Joseph the name Zaphenath-paneah and gave him a wife, Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest at On. Iran attacked Israel over the weekend, and Jim and Greg break down the good, bad, and crazy elements of this huge story.First, they reject the notion that this was a largely symbolic attack from Iran - supposedly because everyone knew Iran's weapons would not get past the missile defense capabilities in the region. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and world record-holding American sprinter and hurdler. In 2016, she made history at age 16 as the youngest US Olympian to compete in track and field since 1972. In 2021 at the Tokyo Olympics, she cemented herself as a track superstar winning a gold medal in the 400-meter hurdles, breaking the world record with a 51.46 second time and winning a gold medal for the 4x400-meter relay. Sydney is also an author and her first book, "FAR BEYOND GOLD" releases January 30, 2024.
