Hocus Pocus 2 is exactly what you would expect it to be. As much as it excels in grounding and contemporizing its protagonists (who we'd love to see more of), it struggles in fits and starts to breathe new life into the resurrected corpses of anyone but Billy Butcherson. And perhaps Sarah. Much like its predecessor, it's fine! Who doesn't enjoy - nay, tolerate - “family friendly” Halloween content? Flame off, y'all. It's slobberin' time. 2015's Fantastic Four - also somewhat famously billed as Fant4stic - is a rocky worst case scenario of making comic book movies “more grounded.” This flaccid foursome forestalls any enjoyment you might have even as a fly-by-night fan of the First Family of Marvel Comics and stretches even the most flexible suspensions of disbelief. The bar is set unreasonably low for their first foray into the MCU, but I'm still hopeful they'll burn right past my expectations. - It's Flamin' Time - Every Major D23 Announcement: https://www.polygon.com/entertainment/23344409/d23-2022-disney-news-announcements-exclusives-trailers-marvel-star-wars Secret Invasion Trailer! https://www.polygon.com/23341283/secret-invasion-trailer-marvel-disney-plus Disney Dreamlight Valley is not a sponsor but has its dark thorny vines wrapped around us: https://disneydreamlightvalley.com/ -----Research and references completed using Wikipedia, IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, and Box Office Mojo. ----- People who can get pregnant have a right to safe and legal abortions, for any reason. After learning about all the characters and life lesson that Pat (Patrick Ross) had meet and learn from, we find that he's still learning, growing, seeking... It never ends! We hope that our listeners who are seeking a career in tattooing, can listen to this journey and realize that even after decades in a business, the needle keeps moving. You'll look back one day, and realize that there's so much more ahead and hopefully, take some time to appreciate all that you've done... From apprenticeship to instant tattoo studio owner, Patrick Ross has really experienced what it is to just keep on keeping-on. In part 2, we talk a lot about the people we've met along the way; How they influenced our journey and our sincerest gratitude for the experience. Pat has some very rare experience with tattooing and the disabled world... Listen to discover. It's funny how Pat wanted to teach in special education and through just his time learning the tattoo business, the universe still knew his heart and primed him for what's next in his life journey... Very cool how that works. Hosts: Amy Nicholls & Rico Illiano (Rico wasn't able to join us for this one.) This is a wonderful series (3 part interview) with a tattoo artist that has operated for over 2 decades and is ready to take on new challenges, starting with being a Stay-at-home-dad. Meet Patrick Ross! We dubbed this episode, "Clear the Way" as it's important to always make room for what's next. It was an important step when Pat entered tattooing and it's important as he's entering another important point in his life. Thank you so much Pat! Loved this talk. Deezer's User Centric Payment System trial - what's the latest? In 2019, Deezer announced it was going to trial the User-Centric Payment System - a very different way to pay rightsholders based on streaming users' listening behaviour, and hailed by some as a fairer method. UCPS is a controversial topic: $11.4 billion in revenue was generated by music streaming last year, and deciding how that money is shared is complicated. On our Music Ally TV Show, Alexander Holland, Deezer's Chief Content and Strategy Officer, will share the latest news on Deezer's research and UCPS trial. Joining him is Lottaliina Pokkinen, Head of Legal Affairs for the Finnish Musicians Union, who created a comprehensive study on what UCPS would mean for artists and labels. They join Patrick Ross, Music Ally's SVP of Digital Strategy. It's hosted by Music Ally writer Joe Sparrow. Andrew Jervis, Bandcamp's Chief Curator, will explain how to get the most out of Bandcamp's artist-fan relationship tools - including fan accounts, the music feed, and artist recommendations. He'll also explain best practice for selling physical and digital bundles, and show how Label accounts work. Andrew will use recent case studies and success stories to give you inspiration - and you can ask him anything about tailoring your use of the platform to suit an artist's unique ethos, fanbase and career. This episode: Look past necessity and novelty - what is the real future of livestreaming gigs? We're talking to Russ Tannen, CRO of DICE and Roxanne de Bastion, Artist and Board Director of The Featured Artists Coalition, who recently "virtually toured" the UK to support her recent single ERASE, about livestreaming artists from a platform perspective. What do users want, what do artists want, and what are the payment opportunities? It's de rigueur to stream gig and events now - but will they have longevity, how will it fit into a longer term marketing/income mix and what are the short term opportunities? What are the changes that will need to happen for artists and fans to ride out the novelty and make livestreaming into money for artists, and truly unique, intimate performances for fans? It's hosted by Music Ally writer Joe Sparrow and features Henriette Heimdal of CD Baby and Patrick Ross, Music Ally's SVP of Digital Strategy, as regular panelists. Subscribe on Apple Podcasts Subscribe on Google Play Subscribe on Spotify Subscribe via RSS WWE has been making big moves to try to get themselves out of the rut they're in, including the shocking decision to bring Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman in as Executive Directors of SmackDown and Raw respectively, reportedly to operate in a manner similarly to how Triple H presides over NXT. The Paul Heyman era began this week and it showed. While Bischoff's reign supposedly won't begin until after Extreme Rules, it does seem like WWE is taking steps to right the ship. Why is WWE so worried? Oh yeah, a company called AEW ran their second major show, Fyter Fest, this weekend. The final pit stop on the Road to WrestleMania 35 is this Sunday, when WWE Fastlane emanates from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. It was a week of returns in WWE. Most importantly, Roman Reigns kicked off Raw to announce that after just four months, he Superman Punched leukemia back into remission, and the Big Dog is back! Meanwhile, closing Monday's show was the shocking return of Batista, who attacked Ric Flair before his birthday celebration and called out Triple H. And over on the blue brand, Kevin Owens was introduced as the new #1 contender for Daniel Bryan's WWE Championship, leapfrogging Kofi Kingston. We're talking all that on this week's edition of Poor Taste Wrestling, and we also have special guest and AiPT! One of the Road to WrestleMania's two pit stops, Elimination Chamber, happens this Sunday and it should be a pretty good one: the WWE Championship will be decided inside the Chamber, as will the first-ever (well, kind of) WWE Women's Tag Team Champions. We've got special guest and friend of the show Dana Fowler on to give our predictions on the show, talk about that ending to Raw that saw Becky Lynch removed from the main event against Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair inserted into it, and also talk about what truly matters: late '90s/early 2000s WCW midcard wrestlers. We may be on the Road to WrestleMania, but this was a pretty slow week in WWE television. The wrestling news world never slows down though, as there have been even more rumblings of rumors that All Elite Wrestling is looking to poach top WWE talent, and that WWE talent is listening. On this week's episode of Poor Taste Wrestling, we discuss the rumor of a "current, big time WWE Superstar" being offered an "outstanding" deal by the fledgling competitor, and try to figure out who it could be. We're also hot about WWE continuing to chop parts off of people's names, and Jeff Jarrett getting a push in 2019, so we air our grievances. Another five day "weekend" of WWE wrestling is in the books, and while Royal Rumble was largely very predictable (yours truly correctly predicted every match except one), that's a very good thing. This week on Poor Taste Wrestling we're breaking down the entire card -- all six hours of it -- and what it means for WrestleMania. We couldn't forget about NXT TakeOver: Phoenix either, since as usual, NXT upstaged the main roster with another excellent supercard. Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa hold both singles titles in NXT -- now what? Lastly, unfortunately, we talk about the news that Dean Ambrose is leaving WWE in April after his contract is up, and Hideo Itami has been granted his release. The presence of AEW seems to already be affecting the landscape of WWE in ways not seen since the heyday of WCW. Poor Taste Wrestling is hosted by JJ "Job Van Dam" Travers, Mike "The Wolverine" Pursell, and "HCK" Patrick Ross. The Road to WrestleMania starts this weekend! The Royal Rumble is traditionally one of the most fun wrestling events of the year, and this year's show has a particularly stacked card. Friend of the show and special guest Dana Fowler joins us on this week's episode to break down the card and give our predictions on every match, including both the men's and women's Royal Rumble match, two world title matches, two women's title matches, and everything else going down this Sunday in Phoenix, Arizona. If you want to read our predictions from other members of the AiPT! staff, be sure to check out our Royal Rumble predictions article, as well as our predictions for *NXT TakeOver: Phoenix*. On this week's episode of Poor Taste Wrestling, we're breaking down the excellent NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool event, which featured some solid matches, the crowning of two new champions, and some genuine surprises in the form of Finn Balor and the debut of the Ring General, WALTER. NXT UK has sort of struggled to find its footing amongst the five brands of wrestling WWE pumps out on a weekly basis, but this event was worthy of the name TakeOver and should help put the nascent brand on the map. On the main roster side of things, the biggest news this week was that Braun Strowman has been pulled from the Universal Championship match against Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble, and we ultimately found out later that night that Finn Balor will take his place. The WWE Women's Tag Team Championships were also finally officially unveiled, and we learned they will be decided next month at Elimination Chamber. However, the segment they were announced in was a little...weird. Rounding out this week's wrestling discussion is more AEW talk, as Chris Jericho went into great detail on his podcast about the process of signing with AEW, and why he chose them over WWE. Poor Taste Wrestling is hosted by JJ "Job Van Dam" Travers, Mike "The Wolverine" Pursell, and "HCK" Patrick Ross. The biggest news of the week in the world of pro wrestling is of course the official announcement of All Elite Wrestling, a new promotion spearheaded by Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks, and financially backed by the Khan family, billionaires who own the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars and the Premier Leagu's Fulham FC soccer team. The announcement came with the surprise appearances by PAC (f/k/a Neville) and Chris Jericho, who have signed to the promotion as well. From there we go over results from NJPW's Wrestle Kingdom 13, a show that largely lived up to our lofty expectations, featuring probably the final NJPW matches for the Young Bucks, Cody and Kenny Omega in light of the AEW news. After that, it's back to our regularly scheduled WWE talk, including our thoughts on the first true week of the company's "fresh start" (spoiler: SmackDown was great, Raw not so much...so, nothing's really changed), and we look forward to a Royal Rumble card that is really shaping up to be something special. Patrick Ross and Jean Theroux present a program of fiddle tunes and songs drawn from their French-Canadian heritage. They will be joined by Dalton Binette and Bow Thayer. All four musicians hail from the northernmost area of New Hampshire, adjacent to the Canadian border, across which people and cultural influences have flowed steadily over the last hundred years or more. The fiddle, accordion, and guitar are the most common instruments used in French-Canadian music. The playing style is spirited and based upon rhythmic patterns of the Celtic world: jigs, reels, and waltzes. However, the music is not exactly Celtic: the bowing style has a different swing and the tunes are ornamented in a distinctive way. Singing in the French language with family and friends is also an important part of French-Canadian musical heritage, and many of the songs are classified as "chansons á rèpondre," or "call and response," a style developed so a large group can join in the fun without knowing all the words.
