Capturing the nation's attention In the big money world of Division I college athletics, only five championship sports actually make the NCAA money. Of course, the biggest is the Final Four, the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament. Now 68 teams play their way to a championships. The venues are large and the volume of printed brackets and online office pools is astronomical. The other championships that make the NCAA money are the College World Series, held annually in Omaha, the Frozen Four, the name for the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey tournament, the NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse championship – AND – to the surprise of many – the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship. Before you say “but what about football,” did you know the NCAA actually does not award a trophy and present an actual championship for what’s called the Football Bowl Subdivision? Oh, sure, there’s a trophy, but the only NCAA logo on a Division I football trophy belongs to the winner of what’s called the Football Championship Subdivision, formerly known as I-AA. Semantics and officialness aside, wrestling has been a consistent moneymaker at the championships level for decades. Much of that has come from the move away from campus sites and into larger metropolitan areas and major league arenas. Or in the case in 2020, NFL Stadiums. Yes, Minneapolis’ U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings, is expected to draw over 40,000 fans across each of the six sessions in March of 2020. It’s an indication that the health of wrestling has improved. It’s also a great spot to sell the sport of wrestling to curious college administrators. For people looking to start a Division I program in Arkansas, a sellout crowd at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland in March of 2018 was the perfect backdrop to make history. Welcome to Rocked Up, the story of the foundation and formation of the first Division I college wrestling program in Arkansas, starting in November of 2019 at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. This is the fifth edition of this story. The first four set the table, because to tell the story of the Little Rock Trojans wrestling program, you had to start from the ground up – with the foundation of Arkansas high school wrestling, which didn’t even exist 11 years ago. Since the beginning, we’ve introduced you to high school coaches, wrestling leaders, athletic directors, financial benefactors as well as some of the pioneers within the state. Today, we meet one of the architects and one of the people who needed to say yes in order for this dream to actually become a reality – Little Rock Athletics Director Chasse Conque. EPILOGUE: As this episode gets released in August of 2019, there was a personnel change between the time we had meetings with Conque for this project. He served as the Chief Marketing Officer and an Executive Vice President of Cleveland Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena from 2006 to 2007 overseeing all sales, marketing, community relations, communications, web-site and game operations. He served as Head of Sales and Marketing at Cleveland Cavaliers. He served as Vice President of Sales and Business Development for the Cavaliers from 2001 to 2005. Chad was then recruited (heavily) by Jerry Jones and family to lead the sales organization for The Dallas Cowboys.  He served as the lead for Cowboys Stadium Premium Sales project where he was responsible for a sales team of 60 people that set industry records for both PSL (Personal Seat Licenses) and Suite sales revenue. Halfway through the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, there have been plenty of protests, inside and outside Quicken Loans Arena. But according to a lawyer who provided First Amendment training in advance to both police and press, concerns about violent confrontations and mass arrests have remained unfulfilled — so far.

Jimmie Rivera joined hosts Joe Rizzo (@RearNakedChoke) and Jason Kelly (@JayKellyMMA) on Rear Naked Choke Radio to talk his upcoming fight, the UFC sale, his gym, UFC-champion training partners and Reebok. Rivera, who is on a 18-win streak, meets Urijah Faber on Sept. 10 at UFC 203 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. Rivera talked about the chance to improve his record against Faber, how he approaches fighting well-established fighter and his respect for "The California Kid." Rivera also spoke about the biggest news in the history of the UFC. Days before this show the UFC announced they sold to WME l IMG for a whopping $4.2 billion, which has media speculating some fighters may be wondering where their piece of the pie is. Rivera gave his thoughts on the price tag, how the UFC operates and his satisfaction with Dana White. Rivera runs a Tiger Schulmann's gym, but trains alongside names such as Frankie Edgar, Eddie Alvarez and other UFC champs and veterans, including old friend Katlyn Chookagian. Rivera talked about the benefits of being a teacher to students, and a student of mixed martial artists at the top of the sport. The Reebok deal didn't exactly win over fans and fighters. While Rivera admitted he doesn't know anyone that has purchased one of his Reebok kits, but he and Rizzo plotted a way to increase the popularity of Rivera's, stealing a script from soccer. Columbus, OH City Council passed an amended ordinance that specifically targeted the pro-life activists that have created a consistent presence outside the two remaining abortion facilities in Columbus. The ACLU believes the law is redundant, unnecessary, and unconstitutional. Police are concerned it will lead to frivolous reports, citations, and possible lawsuits costing the city of Columbus money. City council watered it down because of these concerns. We won't be silenced at abortion facilities. Mark also reports on #OperationRNC.
