She had shoulder-length brown hair and striking green eyes. The local community has rallied around her family, organizing vigils and search initiatives to not only support them but also to keep the awareness of her case alive in the public consciousness. In December 2024, the FBI took a significant step by announcing a reward of up to $15,000 for any information that could lead to Stefanie's safe return or the identification and prosecution of those responsible for her disappearance. By early 2025, a dedicated group of volunteers launched a website, teamstefanie.org, aimed at consolidating information about her case. This platform provides unbiased details, links to media coverage, and answers to common questions, serving as a vital resource for those seeking to assist in the search for Stefanie.

A 14-year-old girl from Maine has been missing for over a month, having last been seen leaving her home in New Sweden and venturing into the nearby woods. Stefanie Damron was reported missing on September 24, a day after she was seen walking out of her house on West Road. The Maine State Police Department confirmed the timeline, emphasizing the mystery surrounding her disappearance, which has left her family and the local community in distress. Despite extensive search efforts involving the Maine State Police and the FBI's Child Abduction Rapid Response Team, a report released on October 23 indicated that Stefanie has not yet been located. Authorities have mobilized all available resources, including the state's Computer Crimes Unit, to assist in the search. The local community has rallied together, with many residents participating in search efforts, hoping to uncover any clues that might lead to the missing teenager. However, it has been noted that the Damron family has chosen not to engage in these community-led search initiatives. The circumstances surrounding the Damron family's move to New Sweden from Texas add another layer of complexity to this case. The family relocated after what was described as a troubling situation involving Child Protective Services. In a Facebook post from 2019, Stefanie's father, Christopher Dale Michael Damron, expressed a desire to escape painful memories associated with their past in Texas. This history includes a police incident where both parents were arrested for alleged intoxication while their children were left unattended in a vehicle. Following this, Stefanie's mother, Lisa Marie Damron, faced legal repercussions but ultimately received a lesser charge. In a post following her daughter's disappearance, Lisa Marie suggested that Stefanie had left home, further complicating the narrative surrounding her vanishing. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/locatingthelost/support

Originally published in December 2021. For Part Two, find Murder, She Told wherever you listen or at the blog below. Ayla Reynolds was just shy of 2-years-old when her father, Justin DiPietro, called 911 on the morning of December 17th, 2011 in Waterville, Maine to report her missing. His story was that she'd been abducted from her crib in the middle of the night by an unknown intruder while the adults in the house were sleeping. Ayla Reynolds never came back home, and remains missing today. Ayla's disappearance sparked a national media storm, catapulting a grieving mother into the spotlight. Trista Reynolds, who wasn't there the night her daughter went missing, believed she wasn't getting the full story from Ayla's father. Eventually police believed it too, and announced that this was no longer the search for missing child... but rather, foul play. What happened in that house that night? It's Monday, October 30th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Israel's attack on Gaza commences Israel has deployed ground troops and tanks in Gaza after bombarding 150 “underground targets” said to harbor Hamas Muslim terrorists across the north of the region. More vehicles and thousands of troops are gathering in Israeli border towns, reports The Daily Mail. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said: “The operation in Gaza is to continue until there is a new order.” Israel is beginning to allow humanitarian aid to access southern Gaza while bombarding the north, amid claims it had killed two 'spearhead' Hamas commanders,  including an architect of the October 7th attacks that killed 1,400 Israelis. Hind al-Khudary, a journalist in central Gaza and one of a few people with cell phone service, said, “The bombs were everywhere, the building was shaking.” Turkey threatens war with Israel On Saturday, Turkish president Recep Erdoğan threatened war with Israel in a speech at a pro-Palestine rally, reports The Express. And when he said that it could "come at any night unexpectedly" his comment was met with ecstatic reception from hundreds of thousands of attendees. The crowd responded with the chant: “Turkish military to Gaza.” Listen. (audio of Erdoğan and crowd's chant) Erdoğan told attendees that Israel was responsible for war crimes, and framed Hamas, the Muslim terrorist group, as "freedom fighters.” Mike Pence drops out of presidential race In an appearance on Saturday at the Republican Jewish Coalition's annual gathering in Las Vegas, former Vice President Mike Pence dropped a bombshell, reports the Associated Press. PENCE: “Last June, I announced my intention to seek the Republican nomination for president of the United States because I believe this country is in a lot of trouble. I was raised to believe that to whom much is given, much will be required. And with everything our country is facing, I just couldn't sit this one out. “But the Bible tells us that there's a time for every purpose under Heaven. And traveling across the country over the past six months, I came here to say it's become clear to me, this is not my time. So, after much prayer and deliberation, I have decided to suspend my campaign for president effective today. (crowd groans) “Now, I'm leaving this campaign, but let me promise you: I will never leave the fight for conservative values and I will never stop fighting to elect principled, Republican leaders to every office in the land. So help me God!” (applause and cheering) Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." Pence had struggled to raise money and gain traction in the polls. PENCE: “And finally, we thank God for His amazing grace. It gave us the courage to step forward so many years ago, and the wisdom to step aside.  My fellow Republicans, thank you for your kindness, your support, and your prayers over these many years. (applause) As we go home to Indiana, let me assure you that we leave here with optimism and faith. “We don't know what the future holds, but we know Who holds the future. And with faith in Him, and boundless confidence in all of you, we know the best days for America, and our most cherished ally, Israel, are yet to come. Thank you. God bless you.” Maine shooter committed suicide Almost 48 hours after a mass shooting broke Lewiston, Maine, forcing it into lockdown, the trail took police to a recycling center in Lisbon, reports the New York Post. Robert Card, the 40-year-old Army reservist, who killed 18 people at a bowling alley and a bar, was found dead of a self-inflicted wound in an empty, locked trailer. On Friday night, at 10:45pm, three hours after his body was discovered, Maine Democrat Governor Janet Mills made the announcement. MILLS: “I stand here tonight to simply report that the Maine State Police have located the body of Robert Card in Lisbon. He is dead. I've called President Biden to inform him about this news. I've informed Senator [Angus] King, Senator [Susan] Collins. This discovery is entirely thanks to the hundreds of local, county, state, and federal law enforcement members from all over, people who searched tirelessly to arrive at this moment.” Card had worked at the business until late last spring, when he left voluntarily. The business' main property had been checked and cleared twice by local police, but officers did not learn until later in the search that there was an overflow parking lot across the street. As for why Card chose his targets, Public Safety Commissioner Michael Sauschuck said it was likely due to paranoia, that “people were talking about him and there may even have been some voices at play,” reports Spectrum Local News. Last summer, Card underwent a mental health evaluation after he began acting erratically during Army training. A bulletin sent to police across the country shortly after the attack said Card had been committed to a mental health facility for two weeks after “hearing voices and threats to shoot up” a military base. The Lewiston shootings were the 36th mass killing in the United States this year.  Jewish college students trapped in NY library by pro-Palestinian protestors And finally, the Israeli-Hamas War is spilling over into America. On Thursday, a group of Jewish students took shelter in a library at Cooper Union in New York City as a group of pro-Palestinian demonstrators loudly chanted “free Palestine” outside, reports CBS New York. The school officials closed the library's doors for 20 minutes at 4:00pm to protect the Jewish students. Taylor Lent, a Cooper Union Jewish sophomore, said this. LENT: “The librarians ran over to us and they were, like, ‘We tried to warn you, but we just got notice that they're coming down.'” Another concerned female Jewish student spoke to CBS New York. STUDENT: “It was tense. People were nervous. They were specifically acting very aggressive in those spaces where outwardly Jewish students were sitting.” And a Jewish male student, who was wearing a yarmulke, expressed his concern. MALE STUDENT: “I genuinely don't know what would've happened if the doors were left open.” The pro-Palestinian demonstrators — many of whom were carrying Palestinian flags and signs which said “Zionism Hands Off Our Universities” were initially headed to the office of the Cooper Union President, reports the New York Post. We start today’s show with tragic news coming out of Lewiston Maine, as a gun man shot and killed at least 18 people, and wounded 13 more… https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/lewiston-maine-mass-shooting-october-26 Maine State Police have released a detailed timeline of the mass shooting in Lewiston that killed at least 18 people and injured 13 more at two separate locations Wednesday night as the manhunt for suspect Robert Card intensified across the state. At 6:56 p.m., the Auburn Communications Center was alerted that an unidentified man walked into Just-In-Time Bowling, which was recently renamed from Sparetime Recreation, on Mollison Street in Lewiston and began shooting. Police said multiple 911 calls that followed confirmed the shooting. At 7:08 p.m., the Auburn Communications Center received multiple calls that a man had entered a Bar and Grille Restaurant on Lincoln Street and opened fire. Police said multiple law enforcement agencies and emergency medical personnel were immediately dispatched to the locations, which are about 4 miles apart. At 8:06 pm, police released a photo of the alleged shooter to the media. The surveillance photo showed a man wearing a brown sweatshirt and holding a rifle while walking through doors decorated with bowling pins and a bowling ball. At 9:26 p.m., the Lewiston Police Department received a call identifying the man in the distributed photos as Robert Card, 40, of Bowdoin, Maine. At 9:56 p.m., the Lisbon Police Department notified Lewiston Police that it had located a white Subaru at the at a Boat Launch in Lisbon. The vehicle was confirmed to belong to Card. Card remains at large as more than 350 law enforcement personnel from federal, state and local agencies continue to search for him. Authorities stress that Card should be considered armed and dangerous. Card is a "trained firearms instructor" who recently reported mental health issues, including "hearing voices and threats to shoot up the National Guard Base in Saco, ME," according to a Maine law enforcement bulletin shared with Fox News Digital. Card is also a Petroleum Supply Specialist in the Army Reserve, having enlisted in December 2002, an Army spokesperson told Fox News, adding that Card has had no combat deployments. Officials have yet to publicly name any of the 18 victims, and police said Thursday morning 10 of the victims killed have yet to be identified. Police have confirmed that seven people — one female and six males — were killed at the bowling alley, which was holding a youth league at the time of the shooting. Eight males were killed at the Bar and Grille. Three additional people died after first responders rushed them to Central Maine Medical Hospital in Lewiston. An additional 13 people were injured in the shootings. At least 80 FBI agents are involved in the search for Robert Card, in addition to agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Coast Guard, according to Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine. Collins made the comments during a press conference on Thursday evening. "I had a call from the deputy director of the FBI who told me that there were 80 FBI agents on site participating in the search for the killer," Collins said. State and local law enforcement agencies are also searching for Card. Before we move on, I want to ask that you be praying for the community of Lewiston Maine today… pray that the Lord would be near the broken hearted as is promised in His word… that He would bind up their wounds, and grant comfort and peace to those who are grieving the loss of loved ones. Be praying that the Lord would be with local leaders in Maine, both political and law enforcement… and that justice would be served on the one responsible for this heinous crime, and tragic loss of life. https://justthenews.com/government/congress/johnson-begins-house-speakership-focus-debt-inflation-and-border-catastrophe Johnson begins House speakership with focus on debt, inflation, ‘border catastrophe’ as top issues Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., the newly elected Speaker of the House of Representatives kicked off his leadership role on Wednesday with a commitment to establish a fiscal commission dedicated to rolling back excessive government spending as a way to reduce inflation. He also called on the Senate and White House to stop ignoring the “catastrophe” at the southern border. Johnson described the nation’s rising $33 trillion national debt as the greatest threat to national security and connected it to the level of inflation that America’s families have been grappling with the last few years. JUST IN: Mike Johnson Delivers First Remarks As Speaker Of The House Play 11:36-16:09 Just a note, not a lot of clapping from democrats on that last part. https://www.19fortyfive.com/2023/10/u-s-aircraft-carriers-and-marines-are-on-the-move-towards-irans-military-backyard/ U.S. Aircraft Carriers And Marines Are On The Move Towards Iran’s ‘Military Backyard’ The situation in Israel continues to be tense as the Israeli Defense Forces are on standby to launch a large-scale ground invasion of Gaza. As of now, Tel Aviv has agreed to hold off invading until the U.S. military puts more forces in the area. The Israeli Air Force is pounding hundreds of targets within Gaza, killing and wounding hundreds of Hamas terrorists and Palestinian civilians. On the other end, Hamas continues to be defiant, launching missiles and small-scale attacks against Israel. The terrorist group also holds scores of hostages and is threatening to execute them if Israel invades. According to the German newspaper Bild, the Israelis won’t hold back a possible ground invasion of Gaza over the issue of the hostages. Hamas is currently holding over 200 hostages and has been using them as deterrence against an Israeli ground invasion. But with more than 1,400 Israelis killed and thousands more wounded, the Israeli government might very likely choose to go in and destroy Hamas despite what might happen to the hostages. The Israeli Army is likely waiting for the air force to take out the most important targets before it rolls in with tanks and armored personnel carriers. Meanwhile, two more hostages were released this week as two elderly women, were released on Wednesday. One of the women said, “When we arrived in Gaza, they first told us that they believed in the Quran and would not harm us, they fed us well, were kind, a doctor and paramedic visited us regularly, everything was provided for us.” But their experience leading up to their captivity in Gaza was traumatic. Hostages were beaten and humiliated as they were snatched from their homes in Israel to Gaza’s underground tunnel complex. Meanwhile, the international military presence around Israel continues to grow. European countries are getting ready for forceful evacuations of their citizens from Israel and Lebanon. German and French special operations forces have set up camp in Cyprus and are on standby for contingencies. The U.S. military has already sent two aircraft carrier strike groups in the region and the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), which is special operations capable. The Pentagon has also relocated a number of C-130 tactical transport aircraft and support personnel to Greece to be on standby for potential evacuation operations. Thus far, Israel has been adamant that it doesn’t want any direct military assistance or foreign boots on the ground. However, Tel Aviv was allowed a number of U.S. military advisors to support the Israeli Defense Forces. According to Axios, U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. James Glynn, a former commander of the Marine Forces Special Operations Command and with experience against the Islamic State, is leading the advisory group. The increased presence of U.S. forces in the region is also in response to credible threats about U.S. citizens and facilities in the region. According to U.S. defense officials, the Pentagon assesses that state and non-state actors in the region—mainly Iran—are considering escalating the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hamas into a wider regional conflict. The U.S. military is ready to counter any hostile actions in the area. Whether Iran understands the danger is another thing. On February 9, 1999, 15 year-old sophomore Ashley Ouellette was dropped off at a friend's home for a sleepover in Saco, Maine. Just before 4:00 am the next day, Ashley was found dead in the middle of a busy road. While she didn't have any visible injuries, an autopsy concluded that she'd been strangled.  The State Police conducted a thorough investigation of Ashley's murder. Murder Of Missing Woman, Investigation And Arrest. Conceptions About Police Shootings. He talks about the gripping investigation into one of the most shocking murders in recent Maine history. The abduction and murder of Amy St. Laurent. Plus, the misconceptions and lies about Police Officer involved shootings. Joseph K. Loughlin, retired assistant chief of police for the City of Portland, Maine, is our guest. Joe talks about the Amy St. Laurent case, the intricacies and challenges of the investigation, arrest and conviction of her killer. He also talks about how the murder and investigation had a profound impact on the police officers involved. She disappeared following a night out in Portland, Maine's Old Port district, during which she had taken an acquaintance for a night on the town. She was spotted at a pool hall, indulged in pizza, and concluded her evening at a dance club. It was unusual for Amy to leave the dance club with two men she had just met that night, but she did so and headed to an apartment  to attend a birthday party. Tragically, Amy was never seen again. Amy's family and friends grew increasingly worried when they failed to receive any communication from her the following day, and their concern deepened when she didn't arrive for work. After an intensive two-month search led by the Portland Police Department, with assistance from the Maine State Police and the Maine Warden Service, Amy was ultimately discovered concealed in the woods. Tragically, she had suffered a brutal assault, showed signs of sexual assault, and had been fatally shot. Her murderer was subsequently found guilty and handed a 60-year prison sentence. Joe also discusses the lies and misconceptions spread by the media about officer-involved shootings. Plus the two books he co-authored with Kate Clark Flora, "Finding Amy: A True Story of Murder in Maine" and "Shots Fired: The Misunderstandings, Misconceptions, and Myths about Police Shootings". Details and more information can be found at his website. Background song Hurricane is used with permission from the band Dark Horse Flyer. MAINE, 2003: On the night of December 23, 2003, two friends dropping off Christmas gifts at the home of 40-year old Raymond “Butch” Weed were shocked to find that their friend, a well-known and beloved member of the Wilton, Maine community, was dead. Sometime between his regular visit to his favorite hangout in downtown Wilton and returning home just a quarter mile away on Main Street, an unknown assailant entered Butch's home and stole his life. To this day, a suspect has never been apprehended, and Maine State Police have remained tightlipped about any details they've learned over the course of a nearly 20 year investigation. Butch's family members hold out hope that they won't have to wait much longer to know who killed their brother, and finally see justice handed down to the person or persons responsible. This case has been requested dozens of times by Dark Downeast listeners. The emails and DMs I've received over the last two years all spoke highly of the man at the center of the case, but a few of those messages also suggested that there might be more to the case than meets the eye. Wilton, Maine is a small town, and for such a high profile case to go unsolved this long, rumors are rampant. This is Garrison Hardie with your CrossPolitic Daily News Brief for Thursday, June 1st, 2023. https://www.theepochtimes.com/chick-fil-a-faces-growing-backlash-over-diversity-equity-and-inclusion-efforts_5300643.html?utm_source=partner&utm_campaign=BonginoReport Chick-fil-A Faces Growing Backlash Over ‘Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’ Efforts Some conservatives have suggested a boycott of Chick-fil-A after the fast-food chain was discovered to have a vice president of “diversity, equity, [and] inclusion,” or DEI. In a previously issued Chick-fil-A news release, the company said that Erick McReynolds serves as its vice president of DEI, saying: “Chick-fil-A restaurants have long been recognized as a place where people know they will be treated well. Modeling care for others starts in the restaurant, and we are committed to ensuring mutual respect, understanding, and dignity everywhere we do business.” DEI is a set of principles that large corporations, government agencies, and schools have increasingly incorporated into their work environments, often mandating employees receive such training. However, these principles are rooted in Marxism, according to prominent critics including Christopher Rufo and James Lindsay, that are essentially vehicles for “left-wing racialist ideology and partisan political activism.” “They are designed to replace the system of academic merit with a system of race-based preferences and discrimination—which, in many cases, explicitly violates federal civil rights law,” wrote Rufo for his Substack page earlier this year. The Chick-fil-A announcement was highlighted this week by several prominent conservative accounts. According to McReynolds’s LinkedIn page, he was hired as Chick-fil-A’s vice president for “Diversity, Equity [and] Inclusion” in late 2021. The chicken-based fast-food chain has been generally well respected among conservatives due to the company’s religious values and its prior support for religious groups. In the McReynolds DEI announcement, Chick-fil-A makes reference to its corporate purpose, which is “to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us” and “to have a positive influence on all who come into contact with Chick-fil-A.” In recent weeks, a number of companies have faced backlash for embracing what critics say are left-wing values or a pro-LGBT agenda. Since early April, Bud Light has seen a significant backlash after it produced a beer can with transgender activist and influencer Dylan Mulvaney’s face and as Mulvaney suggested a partnership with the brand. Sales of Bud Light have dropped significantly year-over-year, with consumers opting to drink brands like Coors or Miller in its place, according to data released by industry analysts. Data published by Bump Williams Consulting and Nielsen IQ shows that by the week ending May 20, Bud Light sales declined 29.5 percent year-over-year, while revenue is down 25.7 percent. The CEO of Anheuser-Busch has, on multiple occasions, said that Bud Light did not partner with Mulvaney, a man who identifies as a woman, and that only “one can” with Mulvaney’s face was produced. Local distributors in some areas also released advertisements saying as much in a bid to lure back customers, while Bud Light has marketed several deals to move cases of beer. Another major boycott was directed at Target after the company released a line of LGBT clothing for children—including onesies for infants—for its “pride collection,” according to its website. Other companies, like Kohl’s and PetSmart, have similarly been criticized for selling similar products. Last week, Target said in a news release that it would be moving its “pride” merchandise to other areas of the store. The company, meanwhile, has seen its stock drop considerably since mid-May, falling another 3.5 percentage points on Tuesday. https://www.dailywire.com/news/9-teenagers-arrested-over-brutal-assault-of-3-u-s-marines 9 Teenagers Arrested Over Brutal Assault Of 3 U.S. Marines Sheriff’s deputies in San Clemente, California, arrested nine teenagers over the brutal assault of three U.S. Marines last Saturday. San Clemente Mayor Chris Duncan announced that Orange County Sheriff’s Department had charged the teenagers, five of whom were accused of assault with a deadly weapon and the other four with misdemeanor assault and battery. “They think they have the people they are looking for,” Duncan stated. “Not to say that there might not be a few others out there. They feel pretty confident that they have the main perpetrators. … They had some videotape that wasn’t readily available to the public that had a lot better images of the individuals involved.” “In today’s age, you’re going to get caught — people are going to record it,” Duncan continued. “I hope this serves as a learning lesson for young folks in the community not to let themselves get out of control when something like this happens.” As many as 40 young people were involved when the three U.S. Marines near a California beach Saturday night were attacked in a horrific moment caught on now-viral video. The Marines were enjoying time off from their service at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside at approximately 10 p.m. along the beach in San Clemente. One of the Marines, Hunter Antonino, said a piece of debris hit him in the face, prompting him to ask the group to stop lighting fireworks. “They were lighting off fireworks, they were being belligerent and obnoxious and annoying other people, so I went up to them and told them to stop,” he recalled. Antonio said the group then followed the Marines as they returned to the pier, whereupon Antonio and another Marine informed the group that they were Marines so the group would leave them alone. Instead, the group savagely attacked the Marines. One individual punched a Marine in the back, prompting the Marine to turn and charge at him, sparking the melee. Video shows two of the Marines lying in the fetal position on the ground as the group kicked them and hurled racial epithets at them. The Marines were kicked in the head and upper body. Although the Marines were injured, they refused to go to a hospital, according to Orange County Sheriff’s deputies. Antonio thought he may have suffered a concussion. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/healthcare/anti-abortion-protesters-beaten-baltimore-planned-parenthood Two anti-abortion protesters beaten outside Planned Parenthood in Baltimore Two senior citizen anti-abortion protesters were attacked outside of a Planned Parenthood clinic in North Baltimore on Friday morning, sending one to the University of Maryland Medical Center. “Please pray for my dear friend, Mark Crosby,” President of the Baltimore County Right to Life organization Jay Walton said on Facebook Friday. “He was viciously attacked yesterday, May 26, 2023 while he was praying in front of Planned Parenthood in Baltimore City. He and another prolifer were attacked from behind and the thug ran away.” Mark Crosby and Dick Shafer have been confirmed as the victims in Friday's attack. Both men are over the age of 70, according to police reports. WMAR reported that surveillance video shows the suspect tackling Shafer, disturbing a large flower planter outside of the abortion facility. When Crosby came to Shafer’s aid, the assailant shoved Crosby to the ground, and the person was seen punching and kicking him in the face. Baltimore anti-abortion advocate John Roswell told LifeSiteNews that while Shafer is recovering well, Crosby “is bleeding from some unidentified area behind his eye and the bone eye orbit is completely shattered.” Walton said on Monday morning that Crosby, who had been released from the hospital, had to be transported back to the emergency room due to further complications. Roswell told LifeSiteNews that a Planned Parenthood escort, who guides abortion patients into the organization's facilities, was present at the scene and engaged with the assailant prior to the attack. In his experience, Roswell said that escorts are usually present in the rare cases that pro-abortion rights activists engage in violent altercations with anti-abortion advocates. Investigators told local news outlets WBAL and WMAR that they are searching for the suspect. https://www.theblaze.com/news/tony-holford-us-canada-border-explosives-sign Police open fire on driver at US-Canada border; truck had 'sign' indicating 'explosive device on- board' Police opened fire on a truck driver on Memorial Day as the driver aproached the U.S.-Canadian border with a sign indicating he had an explosive device on board. The motorist, 42-year-old Tony Holford of Providence, Rhode Island, faces charges of aggravated reckless conduct, a class B crime; terrorizing, a Class D crime, and failure to stop, a class E crime, the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit said in a press release. At 10:39 a.m. Monday, Maine State Police Trooper Denver Roy attempted to stop a vehicle heading north on Interstate 95 in Houlton, Maine. The driver did not stop, instead continuing north. Trooper Roy "observed a sign indicating that the operator had an explosive device on-board," the MSP wrote. It is not clear what sort of sign was displayed. When the vehicle eventually stopped between the U.S. and Canadian ports of entry, troopers commanded him to get out of the vehicle. When the vehicle's operator reportedly maneuvered the truck toward the Canadian port of entry, Corporal Eric Paquette shot at him. Holford, who was uninjured, surrendered to Main State Police troopers and was taken to the Aroostook County Jail after being medically cleared. MSP say the scene is contained and there is no ongoing danger to the public. Authorities in Canada and the United States are collaborating on an investigation into the incident. The Maine State Police Bomb Squad and crime scene technicians advised motorists to use alternative points of entry as they processed the scene. The Woodstock, New Brunswick, border crossing was reopened Monday night, according to a tweet posted by the Canada Border Services Agency's Atlantic Region. The Office of the Maine Attorney General and the Maine State Police will work together "in the coming days to continue the investigation and the events that led up to the officer-involved shooting." https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/education/virginia-eliminates-degree-requirements-most-state-jobs Virginia eliminates degree requirements for most state jobs Virginia Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin on Tuesday announced a change in state hiring practices that would eliminate requirements or preferences that applicants for most state positions have a college degree. A press release from Youngkin indicated that the change will take effect on July 1 and affect roughly 90% of state positions. The Old Dominion's myriad agencies post as many as 20,000 job listings per year. "On day one we went to work reimagining workforce solutions in government and this key reform will expand opportunities for qualified applicants who are ready to serve Virginians," Youngkin said in a statement. State Secretary of Labor Bryan Slater further, in the same release, indicated that the state was looking into heavily regulated private industries to streamline the professional certification processes. The move comes as American high school graduates increasingly opt against pursuing college degrees to due affordability and return on investment concerns. President Joe Biden has moved to lessen the financial burden of incurring debt to pay for college by offering up to $10,000 in repayment relief for most loan recipients and up to $20,000 for those who received a Pell Grant, though that plan has faced legal scrutiny and may well end up permanently blocked by the judiciary. The proposed deal to raise the debt limit facing Congress includes a measure to end a temporary freeze on student loan repayments.

This week's episode of True Crime New England takes you just below the border of Canada, in Chain of Ponds, Maine, during labor day weekend of 1975. The Newton family, made up of mom Jill, dad Ron, 6-year-old Kimberly and 4-year-old Kurt, took a trip with three other families to celebrate one last weekend outdoors before the fall really set in. On the last day of their fun-filled camping adventure, Kurt disappeared. Over the course of the next two weeks, thousands of people searched for Kurt, checking every inch of the woods. Bloodhounds, helicopters, and even a plane used in the Vietnam War were brought in to try and find the missing little boy. Unfortunately, after extreme efforts by his family, game wardens, and locals, Kurt has never been seen again. Now, 48 years later, the question still remains: where is Kurt Newton? The driver fled the scene, leaving Bessie there to die on the side of the road not far from her own home.Detectives zeroed in on her boyfriend, Raymond Wood. They'd had a tumultuous relationship. A long history of domestic violence and abuse. Maine State Police were certain that Raymond was their guy. During an intense interrogation by two State detectives, Raymond Wood even confessed to the crime. But as the investigation continued, it appeared the evidence wouldn't so easily fit the foregone conclusion reached by police, and the confession by their primary suspect wasn't exactly proof that he did it.If you have information regarding this case, please contact the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit - South at (207) 624-7076 x9 or toll free at 1-800-452-4664. Brigadier General Peter Olenchuk's military career came with controversy from the 1960s to the 1970s, which could have put his entire family at risk. Less than two weeks later her body would be found just nine miles away from where she was last seen. Was this a crime of retaliation against her high-ranking military official or was this horrible murder a crime of opportunity, or could it even be the work of a serial killer? She packed up her favorite things, including her trusty pup, Thumper, a beagle/basset hound mix, and hit the road in her 1981 blue Chevy Pickup towards Mason, New Hampshire to see her boyfriend for the long weekend. Her family had no idea that night that Pamela would never make it to her destination. Later that night Pamela's blue Chevy was found on the side of the highway near Biddeford with a flat tire and signs of a struggle nearby, but Pamela was nowhere to be found. Almost two and a half weeks later, her body was found in the woods of New Hampshire three hours away from where her truck was stranded, and the medical examiner declared her cause of death “unspecified violent homicide.” To this day, Maine State Police are still trying to fill in the pieces of a still fuzzy timeline that will answer the question: What happened to Pamela Webb?Press play now to hear Pamela's story, the angles that police have investigated, and the theories internet sleuths have discovered while trying to come up with answers to this cold case mystery. Raymond Lester, who is charged with murder in the death of his girlfriend Nicole Mokeme, is back in Maine and will have his first appearance in state court Wednesday. Lester, 35, arrived in Maine Tuesday night, according to the Maine State Police, and was transported to the Hancock County Jail. He will enter an initial plea before a Hancock County judge at 1 p.m., in Ellsworth. The Maine Attorney General's Office charged Lester with murder late last month. State police allege that Lester struck and killed Mokeme with his BMW SUV during a retreat she had organized at Acadia National Park. An affidavit from state police remained sealed from the public on Wednesday, outlining what officers believe happened the night before Mokeme was found. But a federal affidavit from the U.S. Marshal Service details the case and cites numerous witnesses from the retreat who told police that Lester was drinking and driving erratically the night before Mokeme was found dead. Federal court records also detailed Lester's flight from Maine, with law enforcement agencies in Rhode Island, Georgia and Texas tracking his car with license plate readers. On Tuesday, a U.S. District judge agreed to dismiss federal charges against Lester for fleeing the state to avoid prosecution. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Maine referred all questions to Maine State Police. State and federal law enforcement agencies spent nearly a month pursuing Lester before arresting him in Cancun, Mexico on July 18. An extensive search effort fails to find Derrick, though an eyewitness reports having seen a boy matching Derrick's description struggling with an unidentified man near the road. Years later, a convicted child predator named Frank Milligan confesses to Derrick's murder, but he fails to lead authorities to his body and soon recants his confession, so Derrick remains a missing person. August 31, 1975. Chain of Ponds, Maine. While on a camping trip with his family at the Natanis Point Campground, four-year old Kurt Newton sees his father driving away from the campsite to go chop some firewood and decides to follow him on his tricycle. A short time later, Kurt's abandoned tricycle is found eight-tenths of a mile away next to a dumpsite, but Kurt himself has disappeared and an extensive search fails to turn up any trace of the boy. Since the campground is located only six miles from the United States-Canada border, Kurt's family fears that he may have been abducted and taken into Quebec, but there is no evidence to indicate what happened. Joshua Shea is Dr. Brad Miller's guest on Episode 174 of “The Beyond Adversity Podcast.” Joshua is a coach, author, and speaker sharing his story and educating about pornography addiction. He specializes in coaching both men and women who are pornography addicts or are the partners of a pornography addict. He also coaches people dealing with trauma, is a certified betrayal trauma coach through the PBT Institute and has a life coaching certificate through KEW/CTAA. In this episode, Joshua shared his experience of alcoholism and porn addiction. He talked about how he dealt with the consequences and turned his life around. Joshua talks about how he became a porn addict at the age of 12. He dealt with emotional, sexual, and mental abuse as a child because of his babysitter. After getting out of her babysitter's care, he became exposed to the world of pornography. Seeing a pornographic magazine for the first time, he felt a warm glow inside him that's very similar to how drug addicts feel. From exposure to pornography and alcohol at an early age to the point of his recovery at the age of 37, nothing mattered to him. Alcohol and pornography were the things he could count on to feel better. Joshua says that “sex or porn addiction is not about what's going on between your crotch. Food addiction is not about what's going on in your stomach. Cocaine addiction is not about what's going on in your nose. Addiction is addiction. It takes place in the brain.” His pornography addiction worsened where looking passively at photos or videos wasn't enough anymore. He would go to peer-to-peer chat rooms to get women to remove their clothes and do sexual things. At that point, he just made an illusion of control in his life. The consequences of his actions finally caught him when the authorities came knocking on his door. The Maine State Police stated that Joshua was in a chat room with an underage female. The idea of going to jail the idea of breaking his bail scared Joshua. He then moved away from pornography and went into rehab and hours of therapy. Through that, he realized that it wasn't about his addiction. But about why he became an addict. “Alcohol was just about numbing. Pornography was about feeling powerful.” Not hiding his background of alcohol and pornography addiction, he decided to write his book based on his experiences to give back and help others like him. Joshua Shea's story of addiction is one of the many that is often overlooked in society. Often, it's not even talked about by addicts themselves in fear of embarrassment. Whether it's Alcoholism, Drugs, Pornography, or whatever addiction it is, one should never be denied help. So by knowing the consequences of his addiction, he decided to become the voice of the people that cannot speak. Joshua truly turned his life around. With the help and support of the people around him, he now offers coaching and helps people to become a better version of themselves.  Episode 174 of The Beyond Adversity Podcast is a must-listen for any individual going through challenges in life. If you find it hard to turn your life around, listen to this episode because Joshua's story will surely help you. “The Beyond Adversity Podcast with Dr. Brad Miller is published weekly with the mission of helping people “Grow Through What They Go Through” as they navigate adversity and discover their promised life of peace, prosperity, and purpose. Facilities managers and safety and security personnel try to have a plan for everything, but sometimes, all it takes is a lonely lover to play the wild card.Last week, a woman in Maine called in a pair of bomb threats at Puritan Medical Products. The calls prompted the evacuation of two manufacturing plants. When asked why she did it, authorities said it was to spend more time with her boyfriend, a Puritan employee. She made the first phone call to the Maine State Police around 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, stating that she would plant a bomb at a Puritan manufacturing plant in Pittsfield. Then, she called back two hours later, upping the ante to four pipe bombs she said she planned to hide in the area. The Guilford, Maine-based company has a pair of facilities in Pittsfield that make swabs used for COVID-19 testing.

In 1984, after celebrating her 63rd birthday at her favorite local dive bar and spending the day at a family wedding, Dorothea Burke went missing. Five days later, her body was found on the side on a country back road—she's been a victim of blunt force trauma. For years her case sat on Maine's unsolved homicide list with no updates to family or media. And then in September of 2020, Maine State Police announced an arrest had been made: 57-year-old Kirt Damon Sr, a guest and local man who had been at the wedding that night. I went to the Waldo County Courthouse to dig through public files for this case and learn what I could, which surprisingly, was a lot. This is everything publicly available (and not yet released by the news) on the upcoming trial of Kirt Damon Sr. for the murder of Dorothea Burke. This week, Yergy and Drewby delve deep into the mysterious disappearance of Ludger Belanger, which has gone unsolved for the last 45 years. Belanger lived in Washington, Maine with his wife Linda at the time of his disappearance. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic at Bridge Construction in Windsor, working on diesel engines, but at the time of his disappearance was between jobs, and Linda had a job as a waitress at Ho Ho Chinese Restaurant on Western Avenue in Augusta. They had three daughters - Michelle, Traci, and Angel,  whom was only four months old. At 9:00 a.m. on November 25, 1975, after a morning of hunting with Linda and his brother (and possibly his father according to Open Season), Ludger was dropped off half a mile from their home on Route 105 so he could go deer hunting.  Belanger had a good home life and marriage at the time of his disappearance, and isn't believed to have left of his own accord. Linda thinks he was murdered. Police had allegedly two suspects: David Svenningsen (Suspect A) and Danny Collins Jr. (Suspect B). The latter being the only one alive and still living in Maine. This year on November 5th would have been Ludger's 70th birthday. As of the date of this release, Ludger will have been missing for 45 years.   “Open Season: True Stories of the Maine Warden Service,” by author Daren Worcester dedicates an entire chapter to Ludger's case for anyone interested in further reading. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Maine State Police at (207) 624-7143 or (800) 452-4664. You can also reach out to Ludger's family via their FB page “Justice for Ludger Belanger.” A very special thank you to Dani for the invaluable information she generously shared with two complete strangers that went out on a limb to reach out! Special Episode shared from The Misery Machine. Where is Kimberly Moreau? We at Blackbird are always willing to help victims' families in any way we can, so we took another opportunity to share a story and get the word out from a sister podcast. Please help in any way you can!     This week, Drewby and Yergy shift gears to a local case that has haunted the community of Jay, Maine for 3 decades - one that we hope will soon be solved so that she can be laid to rest and her family can have some long deserved closure. This week we are discussing the disappearance of Kimberly Moreau.   Kim Moreau was a beautiful 17 year old girl that went missing from the small mill town of Jay, ME after skipping her junior prom following a fight with her then boyfriend. It is alleged that she spent the day with a friend and two 25 year old men joyriding in a white Trans AM, although the events of May 10th and 11th, 1986 unclear and subject to wide rumor and speculation. Kim's family has never given up hope - handling much of the investigative legwork themselves after local and state police proved to be grossly negligent in the handling of Kim's case. There have been many extensive searches in recent years, and police allege that of all of the missing person cases in the state, Kim's case is the one in which they receive the most frequent tips, even after 3 decades.  We discuss the background of Kim's case - discussing Kim as a person, and providing  details into what is alleged to have happened during the day she disappeared. We also discuss some of the more recent searches, some of the theories of what happened to her, and delve into the backgrounds of the folks tied to her disappearance.  Maine State Police: (207) 743-8282 Livermore Falls Police Department: (207) 657-3030 National Center for Missing & Exploited Children: https://www.missingkids.org/
