Ever wonder why some people crush it in sales while others barely scrape by?It's not always about having the flashiest product or the biggest ad budget. Nope. Often, it's about understanding how to price and present your offer in a way that speaks directly to the human brain. In this week's episode of The Happy Hustle Podcast, I'm diving deep into 17 psychologically backed sales and pricing strategies that can help you make more money and more impact—without ever feeling pushy or sleazy. Look—sales isn't just about making money. It's about solving problems for your dream customers. But the way you package your solution? That's where most entrepreneurs drop the ball.Pricing isn't just a number. It's a message. It's perceived value. It's how your ideal client feels about your offer.By using tested strategies from the world of psychology and real-life business (like Apple, Starbucks, and even IKEA), you can make your offers irresistible. Here are the 17 Proven Pricing Strategies: Price AnchoringLead with your most premium offer to anchor value in your buyer's mind.Example: Mention your $100K 1-on-1 offer before pitching the $25K group coaching—suddenly, that group offer looks like a steal! The Decoy EffectAdd a middle “meh” option to make your best offer shine.Example: The Economist's print-only vs. print+digital pricing made more people choose the combo, even at the same price.Contrast PricingPut high-priced items next to your core offer to make it look more affordable.Example: Rolex does this all the time—$10K watches look like a deal next to $100K ones.Charm PricingPrice ending in .99 or .97 actually sells more.Example: A $39.99 dress outsold a $40 one by 24%, even though it's just a penny difference! The Left Digit Effect$199 feels way cheaper than $200. Always think about that first number.Price FramingShow savings the smart way.Rule of thumb: If discount is under 20%, use dollars off. Over 20%? Use percentages.High-Low PricingShow the “original” higher price before the discount.Example: Was $200, now $120—bam, instant perceived deal.Goldilocks PricingOffer three tiers: good, better, best. Most buyers go for the middle.Pro Tip: Make that middle one your most profitable.Center Stage EffectPosition your most profitable option in the center of your website or pricing table. People gravitate toward the middle visually too.Pay What You Want (With a Twist)Let people name their price with a suggested amount.Example: Radiohead let fans choose what to pay for their album—and still made bank.BundlingCombine products/services for a higher perceived value.Example: Burger + fries + drink for $9.99 vs. $12 separately = feels like a win.The IKEA EffectPeople value what they help build.Let clients customize their package = more buy-in and satisfaction.Prestige PricingHigher prices signal higher status and exclusivity.Example: Tesla, Rolex, Chanel—they don't run sales. Ever. And they don't have to.Power of Storytelling in Pricing(Not officially listed, but sprinkled throughout)When you back your price with a story (your journey, client results, transformation), your offer becomes more than a product—it becomes a movement. The Power of Free (Zero Price Effect)People love free. Even when it's irrational.Example: Amazon's “Free Shipping” drove billions in extra revenue.Instead of discounting, add something FREE—like a bonus call or a surprise gift.Scarcity & Urgency (Ethical FOMO)Nobody wants to miss out.Use limited-time offers, limited spots, countdown timers—but always ethically.Example: “Only 3 VIP coaching spots left this quarter.” Simple. Powerful.Money-Back Guarantee (Risk Reversal)Remove the risk, and conversions soar.Example: “Try it for 14 days, and if you don't love it, get your money back. No hard feelings.”Sales isn't about tricking people. It's about using smart psychology to serve people better. When done right, these strategies not only boost conversions—but they build trust, deepen relationships, and make you feel proud of what you're offering.I've used these exact techniques in my business—selling biohacking programs, coaching, masterminds, and even products—and they work like magic (when done with integrity).Tune in to this episode now and learn how to skyrocket your sales using these 17 proven pricing strategies.Connect with Cary!https://www.instagram.com/caryjack/https://www.facebook.com/SirCaryJackhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/cary-jack-kendzior/https://twitter.com/thehappyhustlehttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFDNsD59tLxv2JfEuSsNMOQ/featured Get a free copy of his new book, The Happy Hustle, 10 Alignments to Avoid Burnout & Achieve Blissful Balance https://www.thehappyhustle.com/bookSign up for The Journey: 10 Days To Become a Happy Hustler Online Coursehttps://thehappyhustle.com/thejourney/Apply to the Montana Mastermind Epic Camping Adventurehttps://thehappyhustle.com/mastermind/“It's time to Happy Hustle, a blissfully balanced life you love, full of passion, purpose, and positive impact!”Episode Sponsor: Magnesium Breakthrough from BiOptimizers (https://bioptimizers.com/happy)If you've been on a restricted diet lately or maybe even taken some meds to shed those pounds for the summer, I gotta warn ya—be careful! It's Friday night, you're exhausted, and you want some quick grub. Where do you turn? What's your next step? Nine times out of 10, you're heading to Google to check the local establishments that can service you. In this three-part series on local marketing, we've discussed how local businesses can ramp up their marketing to target and attract local consumers. PRO TIP: Make sure you understand what we outlined in Part 2 of this article series on local marketing strategy before launching your local marketing tactics. When you think of the ‘self’ in self care, you probably think about your body and your mind. But today I’m talking about a way to take care of your energetic--aka your vibe.
This episode, I'm diving into something I take dead serious: personal integrity. It's about doing what you say you're going to do, every single time, even when no one's looking. We'll cover why this is a non-negotiable for success in business and life, and how easy it is to lose trust if you drop the ball.
Today, I'm talking about something old-school but crucial: your local relationships. It's easy to get sucked into the digital world, but those face-to-face connections are what make your cash practice truly bulletproof. If Facebook disappeared tomorrow, would your business survive? Let's dig into why these "friends" in your community are your best asset. We see it all the time: practitioners get busy, hit 50-70 visits a month, and then drop the ball on nurturing the very local relationships that got them there. That's a mistake.
Man, you gotta hear this one. I'm talking with Nicole and Jesse Cozean from Pelvic Sanity, and they've absolutely crushed it building their cash-based pelvic health practice. Five PTs in just three years! We dive into how they did it, from ditching the old insurance mindset, to creating an unreal patient experience, and why focusing on being great beats just getting bigger. Plus, they spill on making a business work as a couple.

So you've decided that podcasting would help your veterinary practice, or maybe you haven't, in that case, it is important you listen to part 1 of this podcasting series, you can listen here: Should You Start A Podcast For A Veterinary Practice. Once you figure out what your podcast is about and that you're going to create one the next step is to start the content production. I'd like to mention that technical part of starting a podcast isn't the hard part, it is coming up with the details of your show I describe in part 1 of the series. Make sure you've figured out those important details before you move on. Podcasting really comes down to a few parts: Come up with your idea Record the content Edit your content Master your files Upload and publish your content Promote and distribute Recording your content needs to be as easy as possible based on your show goals. Are you looking to have a really polished, finished product or are you looking for an informal Q&A show? The answer to that question determines the level of equipment you'll need to invest in. My suggestion for 99% of the people listening here is to get started with a simple usb setup like a Blue Yeti or Snowball or an Audiotechnica ATR-2100. You don't want to have to mess with a mixer because that adds layers of complexity. If you're on the go when creating your podcast a Rhode lavalier mic or a Zoom H4N recorder is a great option. Recording and editing can happen on the device if it is recorded on a mobile device or if you're using a USB mic, then you'll want to use a program like Audacity, a free audio editing software. PRO-Tip: Make sure you're consistently the same distance from your mic when you're recording, this will give you a more consistent sound. Once you export your media, you can then upload it to a mastering software like Auphonic. Auphonic helps you to create consistent volume levels throughout the podcast so people don't have to have very loud or quiet sections. After mastering your media, you have a finished product! Great work, now you need to upload it to your podcasting hosting. You'll want to use hosting because if you have any level of downloads, the bandwidth requirements could really slow down your production. Next week we'll talk about distribution and promotion, which includes how to get your podcast on iTunes and Google play. If you have any questions be sure to reach out and send me a message!
Henning and Raquel talk about The Swamp Hackathon, working at Slack and a book called Punished By Reward.
Download my video starter worksheet for musicians here(free): http://bit.ly/2kM5bE4 Get my favorite tools- TubeBuddy: http://bit.ly/2q7nkAg YouTube StarterKit: http://bit.ly/2izzkq7 In this video I cover: Why video is essential for any self-employed musician in 2018, why your career is likely to suffer if you don’t have videos, how making videos will benefit your musical and business growth, and what has worked for me on my road to 1,000,000 views on my YouTube channel. Watch the video version here: https://youtu.be/5sRQTsM9jVo Making videos in 2018 is important for your growth and improvement as an artist. The best and easiest way to improve your work as a musician or teacher is to record yourself and listen back. The reason for this is that we can’t generally observe our performance while we are performing. Listening or watching back allows us to understand the mistakes we are making, helping us to notice and fix them. Your business suffers if you don’t have video. Many people will not hire you if they can’t learn more about the thing you do, or who you are, via video. Whether someone is looking to “get a vibe” about how you come across personally, or they’re looking for a specific skill or service you offer, most people want to see you on video, even after they’ve been referred to you by someone they trust. If people cannot find videos of you on YouTube or elsewhere, they will often pass you over — even if they’ve been referred. And you’ll miss out on being discovered in a Google search. What you need to showcase on video and why: 1) Show who you are so they can know, like, and trust you. Most people will hire a less talented teacher, performer, composer, or producer whom they know, like and trust. Speaking from the heart, showing your human side-- gives your prospective clients the opportunity to get to know you. Many clients don’t know the difference between the talent and skill of you vs your competitors any more than you can distinguish the difference in skill of web designers, landscapers, or rocket scientists. 2) Demonstrate specific skills and/or services. Demonstrate your skills in as many sub-categories as apply. Describe the benefits to your customers of services you provide. Pro Tip: Make a list of all the styles or skills you have as a performer and make a video showcasing each one. Pro Tip: Make a list of all the things you say more than once to your students and then teach all of these things one by one. You can also compile playlists of related content for easier access to your viewers, and to increase the chances that your viewers will watch more content that is relevant and useful to them. There are a number of other things you can feature in your video content, including: 3) “Behind the Scenes” documentation of any tour or project. 4) Interviews (of yourself and/or of other people you collaborate with) 5) Testimonials from students, colleagues or clients Get Started- use my free Checklist linked at top of this description. Make a list, based on the examples I gave above, of 5-10 videos you could make right now. To make it easier for you, I’ve created a worksheet and checklist for you. Download it here (lead magnet) and simply fill in the blanks. After you shoot your first video or two, it will get easier and you’ll improve quickly. You’ll learn a ton about yourself and your work in the process. You can share your first video with a couple people you trust and ask their opinion before sharing publicly. Must-Know Publishing Tips with Honoree Corder Tips for Your Launch Strategy Start building your list from the time you consider writing a book. It's the one thing you need for short-term and long-term success. Each book launch may look different. It depends on the outcome. The launch starts 2-3 or even 6 weeks before the book with the formation of an advanced reader team. This will be made up of your ideal readers, not just friends or random people who say yes. PRO TIP: Make sure your ideal reader team is targeted to the audience who would be likely to actually BUY your book because of interest. Not just friends or your mom. Probably NOT your mom. When these people buy your book, it can skew your also-boughts underneath the sale area on Amazon, which means that your book may not get shown to the right audience! You can gift a free advance copy to your reader team, but also ask them to buy and review and explain WHY it matters. If people cannot afford your book, consider how they might help you out in another way. Should You Try Hybrid Publishing? For a moment, let's define the terms. Traditional publishing is when you have one of the big five publishers or a small press publish your book. They pay you an advance and royalties if you sell more copies than the cost of the advance. Indie publishing is the new term for what we used to call self publishing. It means that the author takes control for all aspects of the book (though often this means hiring an editor, a cover designer, etc) and publishes the book without an outside publisher. Hybrid authors is a term NOT to be confused with hybrid publishing. These authors may have some traditionally published books and some indie books. Hybrid publishing is when a company asks for an upfront payment from authors in exchange for publishing, printing, distributing, or other aspects of the publishing process. The contracts and terms vary. Why Hybrid Publishing Might Not Be the Best (or a Good) Choice There are horror stories. Many. I hear them all the time from authors who paid thousands of dollars to get hundreds of copies of their book that may or may not even look professional. At best, you may end up with a book that has been formatted and have a cover designed...both things that you could do yourself or pay someone to do for MUCH less. For more warnings on companies to avoid, here is a great site! Hat tip to Elle Mott for this one! But one of the big points to consider is WHAT ELSE COULD YOU DO WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY? (Or even less.) You could hire a top cover designer, editor, and even pay for Facebook ads or AMS ads for less than you would pay a hybrid publisher. Other Publishing Tips for Authors For non-fiction authors, consider how you can intentionally network. (See Business Dating.) Find 11 other professionals who serve the same client or ideal reader, but are not your competition. Then you can support each other and share clients. Intentionally seek them out. Then if you REALLY like them and connect well, ask for referrals. Practical tip: offer them copies of your book. For fiction authors, consider making a square cover that you'd be using for ACX (audiobooks) and have your followers and readers change their profile image to your book cover on launch day or as they finish the book. Consider having stamps made with this same image and use them to send mail. Ask yourself if you could spend your money in a wiser way. But don't think about trying to be CHEAP. Consider the way you send money as an investment. Your covers will be helping you sell books and bring in money for YEARS. Hire a professional copywriter or invest time to learn this. A cover gets people's attention. Copy converts people into buyers. You must write a book. Even if it's ONLY for your family and the people that follow you. Can I just say that I LOVE that Honoree burned her own books? There is something freeing there. And humorous. Using botsI hate bots. Hate them. Yes they can help bring you followers, but most of the time the followers are empty and non-engaging.Pro tip: The best way to bring organic followers is to actually interact!Mistake 2. Not putting your location on your accountIf you are a local based business or honestly any business, make sure to put your location on your instagram.I run a local based business and I easily follow people who show that they are in the same location as me. If you don't list your city, you could be losing followers, even if you sell beyond your local market.Pro Tip: Make sure to have a business account and add your city in the settings, this way it doesn't take up space in your descriptionMistake 3. Not listing a website/linkAnother thing I see many times is that people put no link to their business or facebook page and have nothing there. If you have a blog or anything, make sure to putPro Tip: Use www.linktr.ee as your link. You can add a bunch of calls to action in one link!Mistake 4. Following more people than follow youThis is something I've heard from many people. Always follow less people than follow you. This comes off as more reputable and shows that you aren't desperate for followers.Pro Tip: What I do is make a separate private account for the beauty bloggers, fashion bloggers and celebrities I want to follow but won't add to my following list. This way I'm only following people in my industry and can actually keep up.Mistake 5. Not having a consistent looking feedInstagram can be your portfolio and first impression of your business. If it's full of family pics, shot in low light on an iPhone, you may be losing customers.By using the same consistent filters, and if you have graphics, using the same colors and fonts, you appear much more professional.Mistake 6. Not using instagram storiesBecause of instagram's algorithms changing, having an instagram story is so important because you are put on the top of everyone's feed and they won't miss your post/content. So double up!Pro tip: Create a iphone sized graphic in canva.com! I'll hopefully be posting a tutorial soon!Mistake 7. Not using HashtagsAlthough there have been many posts recently about shadow bans (google it!) I still believe hashtags are an amazing way to find other instagram accounts as well as for accounts to follow you!Download our free Hashtag GuideMistake 8. Not engaging with others or replying to commentsIf all you do on instagram is post pictures, you are really missing out! Instagram is a community and you need to treat it as such. Take some time, even if it's 5 minutes, each day, comment on posts, like pictures and respond to your commenters!Mistake 9. Not refollowing/engaging with accounts you want to follow you backOne thing I've found that isn't super spammy and although it takes some time actually works, is getting the app Followers and tracking who isn't following you back. Every month I scroll to the bottom of the list and unfollow and refollow a few people. Then I comment on those peoples post. This helps people know about me and they may have missed me following the first time.I wouldn't do this more than 2x so only do it for accounts you want to get the notice of.Mistake 10. Not being consistentPosting at least once a day is very important if you want to build a following. If you only post weekly, you are way less likely to build an audience quickly.Pro tip: plan out your feed with a planning appMistake 11. Not posting at the right timeTiming on instagram is super important. I usually post between 7am-9am or after 7pm. These are when the most people are online.Pro tip: check your instagram analytics to see when the most people are online!Mistake 12. Only using graphicsI usually don't follow accounts that only use graphics. It tends to look messy and none of them look alike. I prefer accounts that have photos and use clean graphics occasionally.Mistake 13. Not coming up with original contentUnless your account is strictly a curated account (mine is for the Twin Cities Collective, a community group) you need to put out original images if you want to grow your account. I have never featured an image that isn't mineMistake 14. Not having pretty picturesInstagram is truly a visual site. If your pictures are less than desirable, you may stall in terms of followers. One easy way to have pretty pictures is by using stock photos. Check out my stock shop for inexpensive photos you can use to make your instagram page look super professional!Mistake 15. Not selling your products/servicesOne recent thing I've realized is that many of my followers don't realize what I actually do! Don't be afraid to promote your services but don't have every single post be self-promo. Mix it up! For every 3 posts, 1 should promote something, even if it's another social media account
Find Your Dream Job: Insider Tips for Finding Work, Advancing your Career, and Loving Your Job
Successful job searches require time and effort. Spending time customizing job applications, targeting a job search, and a goal-oriented personal brand, will help job seekers find success more quickly, says career advice expert, Amanda Augustine. She advises job seekers to pick one goal for their job search, and then make sure all materials they create reflect that goal. In today’s world, a professional resume is not enough. Job seekers also need to have an online presence that tells a consistent story. 90% of employers research job applicants online before deciding to interview them. This means social media accounts should have the proper privacy settings and your LinkedIn profile should closely match your job search goal. You are selling the most important thing you will ever sell in your life, which is your experience and your talents. Even if you are considering a short-term job to pay the bills, look for the jobs that make the most sense for your long-term goals. If you are overqualified or underqualified for a job, but have reasons for pursuing it, utilize a cover letter to explain your reasons. Amanda suggests leveraging your network. A Career Crossroads study found job seekers are 10 times more likely to get a position, when an application is accompanied by a referral from an employee. Mix these 3 methods of job searches for best results: Online job listings. Leverage a personal and professional network. Outreach to recruiters. Applications and resumes will more than likely go through a piece of electronic software known as an applicant tracking system. The systems are designed to screen and rank resumes before sending them to the recruiter or hiring manager. If your resume is not formatted to make it through the system, a human may never read it. Do online research to make sure you include the right keywords to pass the initial gatekeeper system. Pro Tip — Make sure the must-haves of a job description match your qualifications closely. Find Your Dream Job: Insider Tips for Finding Work, Advancing your Career, and Loving Your Job
Contrary to popular belief, women don’t need to be coders or programmers, to get a great job in the tech industry, says guest expert, Allison Esposito. The tech industry is full of sales, marketing, and engineering positions that need to be filled. Even if a woman has never worked in the tech industry, she has transferable skills that apply to tech jobs. Breaking into the tech field can be difficult because big tech companies have so many competitive applicants. It can be hard for a person to stand out, especially if they don’t have any experience in the tech field. Allison suggests women apply to smaller startups, to gain experience and to build their resumes. The gender gap in the tech world is quite large. It can be seen in small startups, all the way up to big companies. Big companies report a ‘Pipeline Problem,’ which means they don’t believe women are out in the job market, or that their skill level is not up to par with the men applying for the same positions. Allison doesn’t believe it’s a pipeline problem, she thinks it is a connection problem. To see where you might fit in the tech world, consider what you are already doing, and see where your skills fit. To make the switch to a career in tech: Make sure you are using the product or service of the company you wish to work for. Jot down what you would do differently if you worked for the company. Join online groups, and follow people who have the type of jobs you want. Absorb as much as you can in the media and at meetups. Women can often be intimidated to attend IT meetups because they don’t feel they fit the traditional mold of young, male IT employees. Allison says if you go to a networking event with small goals and low expectations it will be less intimidating. Pro Tip — Make a list of the companies you want to work for, and start building your network within those companies. Allison Esposito Bio Allison Esposito is the founder of Tech Ladies, a community that connects women with the best jobs in technology, and companies with the best women tech makers. Allison is also a branding and marketing expert, who has worked for Google, Foursquare, and other tech firms. In 2017, Allison will be gearing up her product roadmap and event calendar for ever-evolving Tech Ladies Community.
