Based on the halacha that “All slaughtered offerings that were slaughtered not for their own sake are valid… except for the sin-offering,” it turns out that the theme of closeness is most expressed in the sin-offering. Regarding the sin-offering we find the condition that the person must “return due to his own awareness” – meaning he must have a broken heart because of his sin. Being that all aspects of a korban (the wood, the Mizbeach, the animal itself, the Kohen offering it etc.) must be complete and without blemish, certainly the person for whom the sin-offering is offered must also be whole. Therefore, it follows that his broken heart is in fact what makes him whole. This explains the saying of our Rebbeim, “There is nothing as whole as a broken heart” (and this is also the special quality of the broken Luchos).Excerpt from sichah of 20 Menachem-Av 5725 For a transcript in English of the Sicha: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=03-04-2025

Rabbi Jacobson will discuss the following topics:Yud Shevat – 75 Years What is the significance of this milestone? How does Basi L'Gani capture the central theme and mission of our seventh generation? What lessons do we learn from chapter 15 of Basi L'Gani? What is the chiddush that the most hidden treasures – l'maaleh maaleh ad ayn kaytz – are splurged on to the foot soldiers empowering them to be victorious over the enemies? What did each Rebbe add to the understanding of tzimtzum? Why did the maamar Basi L'Gani 5745 create a buzz by Chassidim? What are the practical applications of knowing that there are tzimtzumim before the tzimtzum ha'rishon (as explained in Basi L'Gani 5745)? What does chassidus mean when it refers to Hashem's essence as light – etzem ha'ohr? Why is ohr so fundamental in uniting G-d with existence? What's the point of knowing that G-d is so great that we can never really know him? Can we say that spreading the teachings of Chassidus by the Rebbeim is an expression of “splurging the treasures” (bizbuz ha'otzros)? How do we apply the statement that all sevenths are precious? If the Alter Rebbe opposed France and the West, why did the Frierdiker Rebbe settle in the United States? What's the best way to receive a response from the Rebbe today? What is the central theme of this Torah chapter? What personal and global lessons does it offer us? Can we apply the continuing story of exodus to the hostages today? Is G-d hardening the hearts of Hamas? Does the recent release of some hostages reflect the energy of redemption we read about in these weekly portions? How do we tap into this energy? Once G-d promised Jacob that He Himself would redeem him and his children, why did He appoint Moshe to lead the Jews out of Egypt?
The Rebbe emphasizes that for Chassidim, their unique mitzvah is spreading Chassidus, as the Rebbeim sacrificed for this mission. He encourages the recipient to strengthen his efforts, assuring it will also bring personal success. Invoking the merit of Yud Kislev, he blesses him to expand Torah and Chassidus. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/igroskodesh/014/003/4923
The Rebbe expresses satisfaction with the yeshiva's progress and emphasizes the meticulous care of the Rebbeim in overseeing Tomchei Tmimim. He encourages utilizing Yud-Tes Kislev and Chanukah to expand and strengthen the institution in both quality and quantity, blessing the recipient with success and a Chag HaGeulah. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/igroskodesh/014/003/4913
The Rebbe expresses deep disappointment over the lack of updates on spreading Chassidus and calls for immediate action. He contrasts the swift response to human commands with neglect of the Rebbeim's directives, urging focus on true Jewish outreach instead of baseless fears. He prays for impactful efforts that lead to real results. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/igroskodesh/014/003/4989
The Rebbe expresses frustration over indulgence in bodily matters, lack of unity, and avoidance of responsibility, urging Chasidim to focus on their surroundings and actively spread Torah and Mitzvahs. He emphasizes the sacrifices of the holy Rebbeim and the urgency of acting as Mashiach is near, concluding with a blessing. https://www.torahrecordings.com/rebbe/igroskodesh/014/004/5005
Rabbi Jacobson will discuss the following topics:How should we react to the downfall of President Assad in Syria? Is this a positive move forward? Should we be celebrating or should we be concerned? What are its greater, cosmic implications? What does the Midrash predict about the fall of Syria? What does this chapter teach us about today's world events? What does Jacob and Esau's reconciliation tell us about the conflicts between the West and the East, and the future? What are the implications of Esau marrying Ishmael's daughter? Was Jacob the true first born? Why did the birthright and blessings have to be channeled through Jacob though they belonged to Esau? Why was Jacob silent when he heard that Dinah was violated? Did he approve of Shimeon and Levi's vengeance on Shechem? How do we abolish harsh decrees? After the tragedy in UAE how do we deal with doubts in the promises given to us? What was unique about the Mitteler Rebbe? Why is the Mitteler Rebbe associated with Binah? What differentiated between the geulah of the Alter Rebbe and the Mitteler Rebbe? Why is he called the Mitteler Rebbe, even after we have seven Rebbes? What is the background behind the sefer Pokeach Ivrim? What is the story of the Mitteler Rebbe suggesting the use of joy to abolish a harsh decree? How is that different than the saying of omein yehei shmei rabba? Was there more emphasis on simcha in the times of the Mitteler Rebbe than in the other generations of the Rebbeim? Should we name our newborn boy, whose bris is on Tes Kislev, Dovber or Hamnuna? Why did the Rebbe say Kaddish on Yud Kislev?

A weekly shiur by Dayan Levi Yitzchok Raskin, Rov of Anash in London, explores interesting Torah questions and halachic dilemmas. The following issues are discussed by Dayan Raskin in this week's episode: 0. A man whose Bris was done by a Reform Jew, need he do anything now? [1] 1) The Rebbeim were emphatic that children should be taught to read by identifying the Alef, the Komatz, and that together we have the sound O. This is: a) Halocho LeMoshe MiSinai; b) instrumental for their Yiras Shomayim. Could you please provide sources?[2] 2) I didn't have my Tefilin in time for the Minyan for Shacharis; I expect to receive them shortly afterwards. Should I daven with the Minyan without Tefilin?[3] 3) When separating Challoh, should I wait until the dough has risen?[4] 4) I kneaded a Shiur of dough, but I wish to freeze half of it raw for next week. Should I say the brocho upon separating Challoh? [5] 5) On the 1st day of Succos – which was Shabbos, a Jewish man dropped in saying that he's travelling tonight/tomorrow, could he take the Lulav? Should I allow him to do so?[6] 6) I have a metal sink that has two bowls. May I designate one for meat and the other for dairy?[7] 7) Bread that is not Pas Yisroel: if I toast it, does it now become Pas Yisroel?[8] 8) I got stuck in traffic close to Shabbos. Could I get into a taxi who will take me home, continuing to drive even once it is already Shabbos? [9] 9) A group-discussion of some Jewish students with their Chabad rabbi came up with the following question: Reuven sees a grenade thrown by a terrorist, headed to fall on Shimon. Is Reuven permitted to intercept the missile, thus forfeiting his own life in order to save the life of someone else? [10] 10) We have a heating-cabinet. Its maximum temperature is 80°-185° Fahrenheit. May we place food inside before or during Shabbos? Charlie Harary internationally known investor, strategic adviser and professor and motivational speaker sits down when his schedule allows with Rabbi Kivelevitz to discuss the interface of Jewish values in the greater western World and a touch of sports. With a world in crisis, the need for solid Torah guidance in a personal way is greater than ever.Outside of the insulated Chasidic world where having a Rebbe is an essential part of the sociological structure of the community,it is becoming rarer to find individuals and families who rely regularly on a life coach who radiates a Torah perspective. The plethora of information and advice that is accessible on the Web seems to remove the need for having a personal Posek for many, and has enhanced the phenomenon of "Shitah Shopping",where the individual is the arbiter of the final Halachic direction which tends to be based on their own prejudices, proclivities and their egoistical sides .Primacy of social media as the connecting tissue to othersdiminishes the opportunity of face to face nuanced personal advice.GenerationXers and millennials have been notoriously disinclined to rely on voices from the older generations.Charlie Harary,in perhaps his most personal and passionate One on One interview to date, reveals who his Rebbe is,and how that mentor has guided his life.Notwithstanding Charlie's oft-stated philosophy of refusing to surrender your individuality, and never stunting your growth as a person,he sounds a clarion call here for the indispensability of having a more experienced personage shaping the direction of your life.Due to his lineage(Chasidic-Sephardi),Charlie comes to Kevod Chachamim naturally yet he begins his argument based on the principles of the Nobel Prize winning economist Daniel Kahneman that even the best intentioned individual is subject to the pressures of cognitive bias, and will routinely choose a selfish, and at times self destructive path."The Rebbe's input and listening can save a family on the most basic gashmius level!"Charlie says.Clearly taken by the subject of the conversation,Charlie sketches the different roles Rebbes have played historically, differentiating between1)the Tzaddik who has no previous relationship to you,yet you believe in,due to his saintly and holy persona-a Baal Ruach HaKodesh.2)the Talmid Chacham extraordinaire, who is retained as a purely legal resource when a halacha is beyond your grasp3)The person who has deeply inspired you with the quality and sagacity of the Divrei Torah he has delivered and becomes your "Rock" of decision and by extension, the family's CEO.Rabbi Kivelevitz asks Charlie for the recipe to latch onto that some one who stirs you, especially if he is extremely sought after by others.Charlie refers to his relationship with Kehilas Eish Kodesh and his Rebbe Rav Moshe Weinberger and explains how one should bepersistent, sharpening the point they need the input on,to make the most of the few minutes they might have with the Rebbe. While exhorting us to shoot for the stars in pursuing the well known charismatic leaders, Charlie encourages persons to reconsider Rebbeim they have already had, albeit in a different fashion.Elementary school teachers whose memories stillbrim with fondness for their past students, can be rediscovered as a great source of adult guidance,or as a conductor and provider of "protectzia" to get your foot in the door of a Gadol. As Rabbi Kivelevitz puts it in this episode,"The bridges are there, the challenge is in finding them".Charlie adds that one can't be sucked in completely by external appearances, and their Rebbe might be a clean shaven business person who lives down the block, who is a dedicated Oveid Hashem. Finally,Charlie exhorts his listeners in fervid tones to add the finding of a Rebbe to their Tefilos with the same intensity they daven for parnassah and health and Shalom Bayis. While mostly Charlie's megaphone,Rabbi Kivelevitz adds an important postscript. He puts forth the ideal Baal Habayis in Rav Yisroel Salanter's conception. One whose proficiency in learning is advanced enough to be their own posek confidently in most cases, relying on the Moreh Horaah only whentheir own scholarly research has left them at an impasse. This means,Kivelevitz claims, that the Rebbe will be called on for the whole life issues more than those that circle the Kitchen,Mikvah, and Cemetery.Charlie adds that the Salanterian approach will upgrade the limited Halachic interaction with the Posek, and allow you to grasp more of how they think as opposed to just what to do.Rabbi Kivelevitz responds with a brilliant interpretation he heard from Rav Aharon Soloveichick zt"l concerning the source of Moshe Rabbeinu's Karnei Hod.According to Rav Aharon, Chazal see a Rebbe in the mold of Moshe Rabbeinu, as one who doesn't overwhelm and dictate, giving over exact language, yet leaving much unsaid. Please leave us a review or email us at When we have medical questions, we go to our doctor. When we have legal questions, we go to our lawyer. When we have financial questions, we go to our accountant. But who do we go to when we have "life questions"? Who do we approach when we have the really big deal questions -- questions that shape our future and the future of our families? Since the time we were in Yeshiva we have been taught the answer: Da'as Torah -- We consult our Rebbeim. But the problem is that most of us don't have a Rebbe. Most of us find ourselves davening in one shul maybe another If we had a connection to a Rebbe in our Yeshiva days, we have long since lost contact with him. The Rov of the Shul I daven in, may be a big Talmid Chacham, but I have little to do with him So who do I turn to? This Shmuz address this very real problem in our communities.
