Please Leave Us a Review Here!! Interview starts: 7:23 It’s a new month and A Tale of Two Hygienists is launching a new series! If you’ve ever had questions about all things implantology, then make sure you’re subscribed and buckle in for May and beyond. Sully Sullivan, DDS, is an implantologist, partner in his own dental practice, and co-host of the Millennial Dentist podcast. Dr. Sullivan is a fourth generation—you read that correctly—dentist in his family, knows anything and everything you’d want to know about implants, and wants the average person to understand what goes into preparing, installing and maintaining an implant. In this episode, Dr. Sullivan explains exactly how implants work and are installed, walks us through a typical implant procedure, and discusses some of the challenges implantologists face. EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: - Dr. Sullivan explains how he got his idiosyncratic moniker. - Why Dr. Sullivan believes younger dentists need a working knowledge of cone beam computed tomography going forward. - Who makes for an ideal dental implant candidate? - Why it’s possible to be too early to put in an implant, and the reason Dr. Sullivan likes working with older patients. - Taking a closer look at the “anatomy” of an implant. - Dr. Sullivan breaks down what the average implant surgery looks like. - Examining a few restorative processes and looking ahead at the future of implantology. QUOTES: “So much of how they lost [the tooth], to me, is going to affect and influence the predictability of my success.” “You really want proportional size to proportional bone.” “Post-doctorally, single implant patients do really, really, really well.” “We really have an opportunity to plan the implant placement with the end in mind.” THIS EPISODE COUNTS FOR CE! - but read the disclaimer below as it might not count for your state. Occasionally, within a Rapid Improvement Event, or daily interactions, we will deal with frustrating people. Given the speed of an RIE it's hard to slow down to deal with those frustrating people on the spot. Here are four tips to help you deal with frustrating people in an RIE. Keep perspective and have patienceOften when we get frustrated with people it's because we are in a hurry ourselves. Maybe they had a deliverable to meet but didn't deliver on time. We often make assumptions about people that aren't true. They're lazy, or they did this on purpose to make me look bad. All kinds of crazy things go through our minds. Realize though, that you probably don't know the whole picture. Especially with everything that is going on in the current COVID environment. Maybe they had a sick child at home that kept them up all night. They could have had a death in the family or found out someone close to them needs to be quarantined. Please be patient and keep perspective with the business environment today. Have you truly been clear about what you need from that person?Maybe you assumed they knew what you want but they didn't want to ask questions for clarity. When they deliver something else you become frustrated. That is a sure sign that you did not deliver clear expectations of the deliverable. Within the Rapid Improvement Event framework, everyone is working as a team and at a very fast pace. It could be that you didn't give clear expectations to a team member because of the speed of the event. Maybe they got different input from others on the team. That is why it is important to follow an RIE charter. This keeps the RIE team focused and provides the guard rails within the event. It forces the group to have a laser-like focus. Consider peoples confidence and competence before you judge their actionsAs I mentioned last week there is a psychological framework called the competence-confidence loop. The more someone does something the more confident they become in doing that task. This helps drive their willingness to complete a task. A great tool to rely on as a leader that will help you reduce frustration is called situational leadership. It considers a person's skill and will around a task before assigning it to them. A key thing to remember is that it is task-specific. The same person may have different skills/will around different tasks. Let's use a mechanic as an example. His/her skill/will might be high when doing brake work and you can delegate that work to them. Maybe their skill/will is low on engine repairs. Yet you delegate an engine repair job to them. How is that going to make them feel? Likely, they will be frustrated yet they might not say anything to you. Given their skill/will around this task, this is not the correct leadership style to use in this case. You can't delegate to someone who has a low skill/high will. You have to directly supervise them in this case. Keep this in mind as you consider what work you assign to employees. Realize you can't control everythingPeople get frustrated because things happen that are outside of their control. Realize it is not your job to control everything and everybody. It's impossible. Have a servant leader mindset. Realize that you might not know everything that is going on with an employee and their situation. Understand that maybe you haven't been 100% clear on what you want and people are not mind readers. Perhaps you haven't applied the correct leadership style around a task and your employee is frustrated and that you can't control everything. Keep these things in mind and you will be on the path to being frustrated less often! As always, it is an honor serving you and I hope that you and your company are getting better every day! http://getpodcast.reviews/id/1499224100 (Rate and Review Here)

Preston Smith is a photographer/videographer in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I found Preston through a video on instagram he did with Patrick Mahomes. I started following him and have been inspired by his work. He has worked with all kinds of people, from shooting weddings to NFL stars and CrossFit athletes. Preston and I met up at his home and had a really great conversation about how he got into photography, what it was like leaving his full time job to pursue photography, what he is most proud of, and some of his favorite projects. www.ketchsmith.com RATE and REVIEW HERE: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/coffee-people-podcast/id1335201813?mt=2 TRADE COFFEE http://trdcfe.me/ketchsmith CODE: ketchsmith 50% OFF COFFEE + PEOPLE MERCH: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ketch+smith https://www.ketchsmith.com Music: Drifter by Hippie Sabotage
Robert Clements is the Founder of Revre CBD in Dallas, Texas. I found out about Robert and Revre CBD through a close friend. I've been curious about CBD oil, the benefits of it, does it work, and why there is so much controversy around it. So, I reached out to Robert to talk about his new company, Revre, and to talk all about CBD oil. We met up and had a great conversation, and I asked him all the questions. We talked about Revre, the benefits of CBD oil, whether people should take it or not, and why there is such a fuss around CBD oil. https://www.ketchsmith.com RATE and REVIEW HERE: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/coffee-people-podcast/id1335201813?mt=2 TRADE COFFEE http://trdcfe.me/ketchsmith CODE: ketchsmith 50% OFF COFFEE + PEOPLE MERCH: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ketch+smith https://www.ketchsmith.com Music: Drifter by Hippie Sabotage

Sometimes life happens and tragedy strikes. Maybe it’s the loss of a loved one, a rough childhood, or maybe you’ve had a life-altering accident. These things can inhibit us from seeing the bigger picture. It can become so easy to succumb to a negative mindset because we feel like we can’t move past our circumstances. So many times we feel like giving up when things go wrong over and over again. As for our guest this week, however, hard times are just simple bumps in the road to be learned from. Alex Plaski is a quadriplegic motivational speaker, author, and life coach. Though Alex has been in a wheelchair due to an accident in the 9th grade, he is not bound to his limitations. Alex is able to see the positivity all around him, even through tough situations. By helping other people understand their greatest assets in the midst of tragedy, Alex is able to help others create the life they want to live. Alex teaches us that there is always room for growth and that you can build from any life situation. Resource Mentioned: The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins (Read my Review Here!) Train the Trainer by Jack Canfield Topics Discussed: How to go from tragedy to triumph with a simple mindset shift. Learning to find positivity in tragic circumstances. How to re-build your life with the resources you still have. Finding your greatest assets in the midst of tragedy. How to grow further by helping other people grow themselves. Jay sits down to discuss his review of the newly released ‘Marshall’ starring Chadwick Boseman, Josh Gad, and Sterling K. Brown. The film chronicles a little-known case of Thurgood Marshall (Boseman) in which he is tasked to prove the innocence of Joseph Spell (Brown) who is accused of attacking and raping a white woman he works for during the height of the Civil Rights movement. Marshall is forced to join up with local Jewish attorney Sam Friedman (Gad) to prove that this case is far more complex than anyone truly believes. The film is directed by Reginald Hudlin, and takes a sharp look at not only the era in question but one of its greatest heroes from a perspective not yet explored. If you want to be a better leader, if you want to take control of your career then you need a strategy and a plan. I have developed this system over the last 20 years where I’ve been coaching, mentoring, and developing others. In this episode, we just scratch the surface of what is possible when we start taking calculated focused action and more importantly on something that matters to you! Every successful person or business has a strategy and a plan, if you don’t have either then you will unfortunately fall into someone else’s plan. It’s your choice With the DRIVE Personal Business Development System there are 5 key stages. DECIDE – Where we look at? What winning looks like for you? What are you trying to achieve in both your personal and your business life? At this stage, we are looking at your vision. It is very important to know what you want, why you want it, and how you’re going to get it. Whether it is in your career, your business, or your personal life. REVIEW – Here we review how we are going to do it, we identify our passions and our values and check to make sure that we have healthy body and mind. We need to identify our passions, that way we are putting our efforts in the right place. In business, it is best to have someone else do the things that we do not like. We need to be resourceful and look to correctly delegate and outsource if need be. INTERROGATE – This is about our capabilities, do we need additional training, do we need additional resources. In addition there are a lot of distractions around us, and it affects our productivity. In this section, I share with you how to deal with distractions and how we assess our capabilities and training needs. VISUALISE – Now we look at visualising the future and really start putting the plan together. Also we touch on body language and communications skills. In this section, we talk about how to adopt our goal systems and processes that would improve our focus, and productivity. EXECUTE – Finally we look at taking calculated daily action and celebrating our successes. In this stage, we also look at building your network and your team around you. It might seem a little complicated to start with, however trust me the results you will get just by following the above 5 steps will take you to a place you have never been before and I look forward to hearing your feedback.
