After a couple of weeks off for rest and recalibration, Badass Records is back with a new episode, and this one features the fantastic Cole Bales of Black Light Animals.Cole is a son, a brother, a boyfriend, a bandmate times two, and he's my guest for Episode No. 164.Black Light Animals has an upcoming RecordBar gig. That's Thursday, May 1st at RecordBar. They also have a new album out. It's called Last Call Love Songs, and you can find it digitally or get yourself a vinyl copy via their Bandcamp, or at blacklightanimalsband.com. Cole's also a member of The Freedom Affair, and they have a gig, Friday, May 2nd at The Madrid. So, please check them out, too.My conversation with Cole involved growing up, the art of recording and producing, bandmates, family, and -- of course -- a few of his favorite albums. Those were these:The White Album (1968), The BeatlesGeorge Harrison's All Things Must Pass (1970)Exile on Main Street (1972), The Rolling StonesThe Black Keys' Brothers (2010)Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino (2018), The Arctic MonkeysIt was both a pleasure and a joy meeting Cole and chatting with him. Let's find out how to escape from scarcity prison. I had a tough time adjusting to a life full of abundance. Initially, driving a supercar made me feel embarrassed. But once I became comfortable identifying as a “rich woman,” everything changed. If you have a scarcity mindset, you're stuck in a loop that's keeping you from embracing rich woman energy. In this episode, I'll reveal how you can rewire your brain for abundance and how you can create an environment and mindset that facilitates, and even accelerates, your growth. In this episode, you will learn about: How my own preconceived notions impacted my ability to accept abundance. What happened when I accepted being a rich woman. The thing that's silently sabotaging your entrepreneurial journey. How the people you surround yourself with influence your success. Four shifts you can make to become a rich woman. The fear-based thoughts that are keeping you small (and how to break free). What you're really saying when you say “I can't afford it.” How perspective is often a reflection of experience (and how you can keep growing). Where to put your presence and energy if you want to get ahead. Today's episode is brought to you by LinkedVA. Listen on blog here: https://www.theamberrenee.com/a-relaxed-woman-is-a-rich-woman-a-regulated-nervous-system-is-wealth/ A relaxed woman is a rich woman. A regulated nervous system is wealth. An asset. For years I thought once I made more money, I'd finally feel safe and relaxed. I thought hitting those bigger months would be the thing that made me feel grounded, secure, held. But even when the money was flowing in—I still felt stressed, anxious and on edge. Waking up at 3 am feeling stressed and anxious. My nervous system was still stuck in survival mode. Because anxiety isn't a mindset problem—it's a sign my body was stuck in fight-or-flight, carrying YEARS of stored stress and survival energy. My body didn't know how to feel safe holding more. So no matter how much money I made, it never felt like enough. I was constantly bracing for the other shoe to drop. I had to untangle the amount of money I made from my sense of safety, worth and relaxation. I had to learn how to regulate my nervous system and create safety within myself—so that I could relax, open and receive more without needing external circumstances to make me feel safe. This is why a regulated nervous system is an asset. Because you can't always control external factors. You can't control how much money you make in a given month or how the economy moves—just like you can't control the stock market. It's going to go up and down—but when you're regulated, you stay solid in the down times. If you think you'll only feel safe and relaxed once you have enough money—you'll suffer every time life contracts or your income dips. But when you have the tools to regulate your nervous system, you stay steady, grounded and open—no matter what's happening outside of you. You don't spiral. You don't sabotage. You don't shrink. You move with trust and power. You let money flow to you—and stay with you—because your body knows how to hold it. This is what I'm guiding you through in Relaxed Woman. This isn't just about making money—it's about learning how to hold and grow it from a place of deep ease and safety. Because a relaxed woman isn't just a rich woman—she's an unshakable woman. Join Relaxed Woman. Your body (and your bank account!) will thank you. Ready to be guided? This is exactly what we're doing in Relaxed Woman—30 days of sensual, somatic and pleasure-based practices to release tension, retrain your nervous system and create new patterns of relaxation, receptivity and ease in your body. https://www.theamberrenee.com/relaxed-woman-30-day-course-early-bird-pricing/ Get a FREE taste in my 2-hour Relaxed Woman Experience: https://www.theamberrenee.com/relaxed-woman-free-experience/ Let's get social, sexy: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theamberrenee/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@theamberrenee Threads: https://www.threads.net/@theamberrenee YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheAmberRenee/

In this episode of the Road to Growth podcast, we are pleased to introduce you to Graeme Carling. Graeme is a true business success story. From humble upbringings v. Those early experiences ignited a spark in Graeme who would go on to work his way into well-paid managerial positions, but it was never enough. Graeme always wanted to work for himself, and in spite of his initial failed forays into business ownership, he was always destined for entrepreneurialism. With three failed businesses under his belt, Graeme found himself at a pretty low ebb, licking his wounds. It was at this time Graeme happened to catch the end of an Oprah Winfrey show with Rich Dad Poor Dad author, Robert Kiyosaki, which led to him committing to his own financial education. He even roped in his new girlfriend (and eventual wife) Leanne, by gifting her a copy of Kim Kiyosaki's book, Rich Woman. After a while, with their first child together on the way, Graeme and Leanne quit their jobs, on the same day, with modest savings in the bank to survive for the next six months, and set about building their empire together. Graeme and Leanne would spend the next 15 years, working, learning, and traveling together, as they built a business portfolio spanning multiple sectors and international locations, worth millions of pounds. With vision, commitment, and relentless effort, they've taken their place amongst the entrepreneurial success stories, though to them…it was never in doubt. With an unrivalled track record for sourcing acquisitions and creative deal- making, Leanne Carling has grown group business, Carling Property Group into the largest privately-owned landlord in Scotland. She brings vast experience in consolidating fragmented sectors to her role as Mergers & Acquisitions Director of investment company United Capital. Leanne's work ethic, energy for the next opportunity, and unique female voice in the fragmented markets space, make her an absolute expert in deal making, negotiating, and investments. Over the last two decades, Leanne has been a driving force in more than 1,000 real estate portfolio acquisition transactions, with a value of circa £200million. The rapid growth of Carling Property Group is testament to Leanne's talent for sourcing potential acquisitions that no-one else has identified, and buying at the right price to maximise eventual sale value. As Mergers & Acquisitions Director Leanne identifies, manages, and negotiates M&A activity to its completion. Leanne's ability to source opportunities and construct deals that work for both buyer and seller is second to none, and is in large part responsible for delivering United Capital's strategic goals. Leanne has delivered large-scale buy-and-build strategies across multiple sectors and her meticulous approach to deal sourcing and pipeline/ opportunity management has been instrumental to the success of the group. The Genesis of a Global Acquisition ExpertToday I want to share with you a more in-depth look into the life of a remarkable deal maker, Leanne, who is part of a global investment family office. From Humble Beginnings to High StakesBorn and raised in Glasgow within a loving family, she was instilled with the belief that richness comes from family, not necessarily from wealth. Her parents worked tirelessly, providing them with a comfortable life that masked our financial limitations. This upbringing shaped her initial understanding of success and security. Climbing the corporate ladder became her reality, but a pivotal moment arrived when she met her husband, Graeme, and was introduced to "Rich Woman" by Kim Kiyosaki. "This book flipped my world upside down, challenging everything I had learned about money and security."The Leap of Faith with The Power of Financial EducationThe principles of "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" taught her about the importance of good debt and investing. It was a complete paradigm shift from her father's advice of avoiding debt at all costs. This new knowledge required her to unlearn old beliefs and embrace a new financial mindset.Staying True to the VisionAs their savings dwindled, they faced the psychological challenge of preserving our funds while pursuing their dream. They remained focused, knowing that the deals they didn't do were just as important as the ones we did. It was crucial to avoid scrambling for deals out of desperation.Emotional Resilience in BusinessWorking together as husband and wife, with a baby on the way and financial pressures mounting, they relied on each other's strengths. They used practical tools like a flip chart and wine to map out our problems and solutions, breaking them down into manageable chunks.Leveraging Each Other's StrengthsThe Creative Mind of GraemeGraeme's creativity and expertise in financing and deal structuring were invaluable during this time. His ability to find innovative solutions and form strategic partnerships was vital to our success.Leanne's Superpower in BusinessHer forte lies in sourcing and negotiating deals, building relationships, and ensuring smooth transitions. She thrives on guiding sellers through the process and integrating new acquisitions into our portfolio.Embracing Global OpportunitiesThe Move to DubaiTheir decision to move from Scotland to Dubai was driven by the pursuit of growth and new opportunities. It was a significant sacrifice, especially for their children, who had to leave behind their schools and sports teams. Yet, the entrepreneurial path is one of learning and expansion, and they were committed to embracing it fully. The Criteria for the Perfect DealIn our quest for global deals, we focus on finding motivated sellers, well-established businesses, and opportunities for continued growth. Today we're talking about masculine and feminine energy and how being aware of it can help you run a better business and enjoy your work more without feeling like you're fighting your way through each day. This topic sounds more woo than the things I usually talk about, but it is something I have found very useful in understanding my own way of operating in my business. It has been incredibly useful in understanding my motivations, my energy, and how I show up and how I interact with other people. And it helped me understand other people's motivations better. So to talk about this subject and share more about it with you, I've invited my friend and fellow coach, Melanie Shmois to talk more in depth about masculine and feminine energy and how you can apply what we share today to your own business and life.Melanie is a therapist turned intuitive life and high performance coach with certifications from the Life Coach School and Atmana Intuitive Coaching.I think you'll enjoy this one, and find some interesting explanations and understanding about where you struggle and where you feel totally at home.To learn more about Melanie Shmois or to work with her, go to melanieshmois.com or follow her on Instagram. It's easy to think that in order to succeed, you need to know all the answers, exactly what to do, when to do it, and how to do it all, right now. However, the way you actually grow your business is one decision and one action at a time. Without every answer and without all the certainty and guarantees your brain desires.Truthfully, that's how you create any result in life. Unfortunately, what we do in our minds is complicate this and judge ourselves because this approach seems too simple, so clearly it can't actually work. And then we do a lot of overthinking, overplanning, over-perfecting, and essentially under-doing.Today I'm walking you through how growing your business and changing your life one decision at a time actually looks, what it means for you as a busy business owner growing her business, how it applies to your life, and how to put it to use every single day.And I'm sharing three questions that will help you stick with this approach, even when you feel overwhelmed by the magnitude of your goals and to-do list. Even the most decisive women I know sometimes struggle to figure out what they actually want out of their business or at home, or to stay committed to their priorities consistently. If this is you, it doesn't mean anything is wrong with you or that you're doing anything wrong.Of course you struggle with recognizing your own voice and desires and then also trusting it. There are way more suggestions, rules, strategies, and influences swirling around you and inside your brain every day than you can keep track of. And these are constantly distracting you, offering you decision points, and making you question yourself. Listen to today's episode to learn how to recognize your own voice, choose it, and trust it. Because doing so make pursuing and achieving your goals feel more natural, easy, and fun. I know there are all sorts of memes and posts about how comparing yourself to other people in business is bad. But is it always bad? And why do we still do it if we know it feels terrible and doesn't help us achieve our goals? In this episode I'm sharing some of the compare and despair my clients and I have done recently along with how we have used coaching to move through it and reduce it's impact on our performance going forward.Even if you think your compare and despair is not that big of a deal, the impact of comparing yourself with others and spinning in despair can have a lot more impact on you than simply the time and energy lost to thinking about it directly in the moment. So listen now and learn my tips for changing the course of your business and your experience of doing both business and life by stopping your own compare and despair patterns. I believe making money and wanting money are great for you, the world, and the people around you. I also think you should make money for whatever reason you want. Or not make money for whatever reason you want. What I don't want you to do is to avoid money or tell yourself it's wrong to make money for some reason that feels like truth to you, but that you have never challenged.Today I'm challenging all the reasons you might think you don't need or want money or why you don't think you can have more of it. You don't have to change your mind about anything. But I hope you'll leave this episode choosing every aspect of money in your life and business on purpose. Emily King is a wealth and abundance coach for entrepreneurial women and the founder of The Rich Woman signature coaching program. Since 2015 she's worked with 100's of women to help them create a loving relationship with money so they can massively increase their income and impact. Armed with an MBA and certifications as an NLP practitioner, timeline therapist and pilates instructor (yes--all those things!), Emily brings the perfect mix of manifesting-woo and business chops to the table to help women across the world live their best ‘Rich Woman' lives - a life of financial freedom, fulfillment and fun.TAKEAWAYS: + Emily's super power is her intuition. Knowing what to promote next, knowing how to coach a client, it plays a part in how Emily chooses to navigate her life. + Being stuck, while sometimes might be due to external circumstances, starts with choosing to get unstuck. Most of our “stuckedness” is due to not being able to find the solution, because our head is wrapped up in what's not available to us.+ Mindset without action is bullshit. Meaning, you can do all of the “right” things for your mindset, but if you're not actually taking that work and doing something with it, it doesn't matter. The fastest way to overcome a limiting belief is to take action. + Affirmations are powerful because if you don't affirm who you are, the world will do it for you. Affirmations inform how you want to live your life and how you want to perceive the world around you and your role in it.
