Late 1999 I descended the steps into a murky basemment whose walls were slick with sweat and vibrated with the incessant rap of a four four beat somewhere in the realm of 135 to 140bpms. At the foot of the stairs the bar lined the left side of the wall, whilst scattered chairs and stools occupied the right hand side of the passage. Ahead lay the barely visible dancefloor. Amongst the spewing action of the smoke machine, limbs writhed and contorted like a Chris Cunningham video. A red strobe light cut geometric patterns into the haze and the sweet/sickly stench of hash and weed fought for their hierarchy amongst body odour and spilt beer. Ecstatic screams and aggressive, yet high pitched shouts of pleasure somehow placed themselves above the frenetic frequencies that filled my ears and mind. Tribal drums, scything hi-hats and cymbals and that unrelenting four to the floor beat poured over me, drenched me and elevated me above the temporal here and know. Physically and spiritually I was undergoing a life changing and life affirming transformation - nothing would be the same again. That was my first experience of Voodoo in Liverpool, UK one of the premier Techno nights that ran in Britain. James Ruskin was on the ones and twos and I was to see him play again over the following years at the Orbit in Leeds and Atomic Jam in Birmingham to name but two. Week in, week out I went all over the UK following this sound and the purveyors of this music. Lost in London, House of God in Birmingham, Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Space DJz, Oliver Ho, Robert Hood, DJ Rush, Regis, Surgeon, Claude Young and many, many more. Following their examples I got myself decks and a mixer (and an healthy appetite for buying vinyl) and attempted to create those moments of musical magic and bliss in the confines of my bedroom. Like an acolyte of the occult and magick, my pentagrams, melted candles and burnt offerings were the platters of 1210s and the faders of a Pioneer DJM600 with an apparently never ending supply of virgin vinyl. And so, 16 years later I find myself still in the confines of my 'bedroom' attempting to conjure up the Techno spirits of yore, but 1210s have transmogrified into a Traktor S4 and black circles of wax have become files of flac and 320 - yet still I like to believe that the essence and dynamism has remained:, that ability of instigating emotions and memories and rejuvenating the dark beauty of that thing we know and love called Techno. Words by the man himself, Phuriphnics. Head to www.bomphcast.com for track listing. @phuriphonics http://phuriphonics.blogspot.com.au/

In 2000, he went on to turntables and, after a few months of training, he started playing at minor parties. Organizing his own events was the next logical step - together with a few other enthusiasts, he would liven up the then nearly non-existent West-Bohemian dance scene. It didn’t take long before bookings for major events from all corners of Bohemia started coming in. In the year 2003; he participated in the DJs LIVC/BASSLINE CUP - western region competition where he was placed second. A year later, he started to experiment with music production, gradually fitting up his home studio. In the year 2007, he founded the successful Skillz Brothaz project together with a friend and participated in the birth of music info server Undergroundcity.cz. In 2008, he put aside his turntables and, thanks to a cooperation with a leading Czech DJ shop he co-founded, started using the state-of-the-art digital technologies, notably Ableton+Traktor+MIDI controllers, which allow him to sample in his mixes a great deal of his own production in any form. Nevertheless, he very often plays from CD players as well and this for a simple reason - he enjoys mixing songs manually. In the year 2011, he launched his new show called Tomas Drex PODCAST which lets you listen to new music releases, information and mix from special guest - every new month. At the beginning of the year 2013 he founded tech-house label Soul Fly Music Records with his friends, which already has many well-known artists in the catalogue. Nowadays, he’s had behind him several tracks and remixes released on labels such as: Yin Yang, Yaiza, Bedroom Muzik, Patent Skillz, Decide Music Concept, Italo Business, Naked Lunch, Egothermia, Plastik Galaxy, Turning Wheel, Flat Belly... and others. Tomas Drex is currently working on new tracks and planning on compiling his debut album soon. You can expect combination of tech-house and techno music. He has played in a host of clubs and places not only in all of the Czech Republic but also in the Netherlands, Germany and Slovakia and has worked alongside numerous Czech as well as foreign famous artists such as: Mauro Picotto, Tomcraft, Alexander Kowalski, Len Faki, Industrialyzer, Space DJz, Marco Zaffarano, DJ Rush, Mario Ranieri, San, Ganez The Terrible, Paul Mac... and others. TOMAS DREX PODCAST Every new month you can hear new episode of Tomas Drex Podcast. Show focusing on techno and tech-house. New music (TOP 5 releases of previous month), information not only about new music technologies and mix prepared by special guest. New month = new guest = new music and information.

Bands like Mode Selector , or Technotronic influenced my growing dependence on electronic music. Early on I had a growing desire to go to parties to techno parties , and to celebrate . DJs such as Jeff Mills, Chris Liebing , Sven Väth, and Torsten Kanzler took me under her spell. So the madness began . I have to put Reloop RP 1000 with belt drive turntables and a mixer the foundation. The weekend consisted of parties and between I conducted hour mix sessions on my record player at home . I had about 5-10 friends at this time were all subjected to this marathon is in my apartment. Another cornerstone of my career Torsten Kanzler and his label TK Records , Killaz & Error Records came into my life , from there it went ahead and correct my options were given in Tresor Berlin Club , at Nature One , Summer Spirit , Kazantip , Area61 , Metronome Club Berlin , and in many more clubs to play. After an intensive and successful number of years of acclaimed releases and remix’s across numerous top labels, collaborations with numerous artists, and being named at the beginning of 2009 as ‘One to Watch’ by M8 Mag UK... This alongside endless production work, collaborations, a hectic gigging schedule, and a uniquely intense, energetic, and entertaining style of three turntable techno mash up sets, has placed Diarmaid up there with his peers as one of the best in his field to emerge in recent years. As one of the UK and Irelands busier techno producers and releasers, his collaborations and remixes to date include hero’s like A.Paul, Robert Armani, Mike Humphries, Space DJz, Patrick DSP, Vegim, Niereich, Go!Diva, Luke Creed etc., on labels including Gobsmacked, Potential, Mastertraxx, Nachtstrom Schallplatten, Naked Lunch etc. His 2010 album “Structured Noise” was nominated for Best Album 2010 and his label Gobsmacked for Best Label multiple times in the Irish dance Music Awards. In 1995 the duo released their debut Ep Space DJz on the legendary and now defunked Infonet imprint, quickly followed up by an outing on the Belgium label Reload These two projects put them on the techno map but the real turning point arrived in early 1996 on Infonet with the release of the ..Return to earth', Ep, containing the techno anthems ..Side on', and ..Rock the house'.Both trakz would blow up to be huge and be re-released via Frankfurt based Ongaku .The combined output of both releases was over 10,000 copies and along side Dave Clarks Red 1 these were two of the biggest tunez of the year and are still much sought after and played to this day. The Djz became prize catches for major playerz Nova Mute and Soma contributing several more classic releases, culminating in 1999's critically acclaimed album ..On Patrol`. Later that year The Space Djz delivered a trak that was to become one of their biggest hitz to date AK 47 a trak that had originally been heard on a Nova Mute Compilaton was reworked and served to capture the period's riotus spirit of techno. Vegim's journey into the underground began in the early 1990's. At first, music was just a hobby. Once he began collecting records his obsession grew stronger and he invested in his first pieces of music equipment. 1998 was the year Vegim became a full time slave to the underground. He rapidly developed his skills as a DJ and in his Production. By the age of 18 Vegim had already discovered his lust for House & Techno. The desire to tell his story through music took over and Vegim has never looked back. Vegim's earliest experiments in the studio go back to around 2002. After about 4 years of hard work, he released his first EP - Creature 3000 with Nani Killa, this is his first tune which went on to receive support from a lot known World DJs. Today, Vegim is recognized as one of Techno's most influential artists. Not only a skilled DJ/Producer but also a graphics designer and coneptionalist that has a style unlike any other. He has released his own tracks and done countless remixes for many of the best known labels in the Techno realm. His tracks and remixes are well supported by djs like: Dave Clarke, Dylan Drazen, Laurent Garnier, Mark Eg, A Paul, Space Djz, Gayle San, Dj Murphy, Patrick Dsp, Dj Pauze, Mattias Fridell, Samuel L Session, Luke Creed, Pedro Delgardo and many more. In addition to being a high demand producer, his live performance is one of the most unique in Techno. His sound and mixing ability combined tell a story that is one of a kind. Vegim has traveled a long road since he began and he is now recognized as a symbol of techno worldwide. Rvk Underground Podcost 09 - Space DJ'zThere are few Djz and producers in the modern techno world who can truly claim to have pioneered a style and sound, and call it their own. Such statements are often declared, but rarely justified. In the case of Ben Long and Jamie Bissmire, the names behind the revered Space DJz this claim would be unarguable.More about SPACE DJ'Z hereTracklist:1. Intro 2.
