It's been quite a year to say the least and while conventions and comic shops are opening back up, I'd love to ask, how has your relationship to comics and the creation of comics changed over the last year? With Brooklyn Gladiator, Moon Lake, and Fishkill under your belt, and knowing how you have been reading Heavy Metal since you were 9 or 10, what has it been like making comics for the publisher?Writing for a publisher like Heavy Metal, which always seems to have had a certain bite to them, do you ever feel like you need to go harder or edgier with the work? You're also a screenwriter and director, of course. How does that experience translate into working on a comics script? You've worked with some incredible artists like Simon Bisley, Darick Robertson,  and Ben Templesmith, what is your working relationship like with these artists? Was there a moment, a page or panel, from Fishkill that Templesmith simply blew you away with?Lawrence Blum is listed as the co-creator for Fishkill; what was that collaboration process like?A story like Fishkill blends crime, corruption, drug use, and the filth of the city all into one. Did you have any inspirations in life, film, or other comics that lead to the idea of the series?Obviously Fishkill himself is not someone we should aspire to be. There are a lot of unseemly characters and situations in the story; how do you get in the headspace to write someone like that? What comics are you reading right now?Off Topic Top Shelf: Dan Fogler - mixed martial arts, making movies, The Offer - Francis Ford Coppola

We record at the Vampire Cowboys Theatre Company's rehearsal space, The Battle Ranch. Joining us for the ride is VCTC co-artistic director Qui Nguyen (picture right) and company member Amy Waschke (pictured left)! They are currently in rehearsals for their new show THE INEXPLICABLE REDEMPTION OF AGENT G. It's an All-Asian podcasting crew!  *Well, it's Jimmy's first show without God Joe doing the tech and as expected...it's a train wreck. Apologies in advance for the madness! It's strictly recorded on the digital recorder. Jimmy also randomly and mostly by accident took a bunch of calls from friends like Emmy award winning Michael Emerson (Lost), Kevin Maguire (Tanga), Jill Pantozzi (The Nerdy Bird), and Ben Templesmith (Choker, 30 Days of Night). He just held up the mic to the phone speaker so hopefully we got the sound. Some embarrassing reveleations to be sure! Genital pics, strip club visits, a possible baby mama, and much more. The Asians talk the Oscars (even with a song), Fillion's reply to Browncoat crazies and how to go about contacting someone in the comic book field. News includes: Powers TV show gets greenlit (BREA GRANT FOR DEENA PILGRIM!!), Kaboom! to release Peanuts graphic novel, Eisner on display at MoCCA, Leigh Gallagher (Defoe) gets a royal stamp, Oni Press mix tape and CBLDF comic creator trading cards. Listener feedback and more! Leave your iTunes comments! 5 stars and nothing but love!

A little business up front about this show. I was in Las Vegas for Interop when we recorded this at about midnight, and the recording was being done on a laptop running a freshly installed Win 7 RC candidate. Right as I went to save the show, Audacity wrecked. I was able to salvage the files, although it took manually reconstructing 828 sound files. As a result, I let my normally anal editing go a bit, so bear with us this week. This week we start out talking comics, from Sam Kieth to Ben Templesmith. After that, it's on to the possible collapse of GPS and a farewell to the Hubble. Later we get into the difficulty in finding a movie that takes you by surprise. From there it's a British Invasion with a little Doctor Who, some Ashes To Ashes and finally James Bond. We head into outer space after that to discuss the new Star Trek, and why Khan was a true ladies man.Opening Music: "Alive WIP v2" by George CarpenterClosing Music: "Blau.ton" by Rauschwerk
