You're not just a lawyer — you're a visionary rewriting the rules. In this powerful episode of our Build to Lead series, Bridgit Norris sits down with estate planning attorney and trailblazing founder Laura Cowan, who went from Wall Street accountant to building a thriving law firm that works for her.Laura is the mind behind the 2-Hour Lifestyle Lawyer™ and author of Lifestyle Lawyer Revolution, featured in Forbes and Entrepreneur, and she's living proof that success in law doesn't have to come at the cost of your freedom, health, or happiness. This episode is packed with real talk, strategy, and encouragement for women lawyers who are ready to define success on their terms — and be bold enough to speak up about it.If you're done measuring yourself by billable hours and want a model that supports the life you want, this one's for you.Key Takeaways from Bridgit and Laura:1. Profit Over PosturingScaling revenue means nothing if it costs your health, time, or peace of mind.Success in law must prioritize profit, sustainability, and freedom, not vanity metrics like 2x or 3x growth.2. Delegate What Doesn't Require a Law DegreeBuilding a lean, effective firm starts with outsourcing admin work, document drafting, and marketing, even with limited resources.Focus your time on the few key actions that generate revenue and truly require your expertise.3. Redefine Success with IntentionSuccess isn't one-size-fits-all. Whether that means working part-time, serving only select clients, or shifting your role entirely, fulfillment comes from designing a practice that aligns with your values, not the legal industry's outdated playbook.4. Scaling Comes with TradeoffsGrowth doesn't just mean more revenue — it means more clients, more hiring, more systems. Before chasing scale, define exactly what you want more of, and ensure your team and infrastructure are built to handle it.5. Bold Voices Shift the ProfessionToo many women in law are quietly struggling with outdated norms and expectations.Speaking openly about freedom, flexibility, and alternative success models doesn't just serve you — it lights the path for the next generation. "There's no point in having a million dollars in revenue if you're working until 10 o'clock at night and you've got to spend the vast majority of it just to support the business." — Laura CowanGet in touch with Laura Cowan:Website: https://www.2hourlifestylelawyer.com/Book: Lifestyle Lawyer Revolution: https://www.amazon.com/Lifestyle-Lawyer-Revolution-Without-Leaving-ebook/dp/B0F3FNZMQN/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/thelauracowan/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/2hourlifestylelawyer/Are you a high-achieving woman in law ready to become a powerhouse CEO?Then HER Law was built for you.

You're not doing referrals wrong—you've just been taught a system that never really worked for you. In this empowering fourth episode of our Build to Lead series, hosted by Bridgit Norris, you'll discover how to build a client-generating engine that feels aligned with who you are and how you want to show up in business.Guest Stacey Brown Randall—founder of Building a Referable Business, podcast host, and author of Generating Business Referrals Without Asking—breaks down the science of referrals and how legal professionals, especially women, are moving beyond outdated “good old boys” tactics. She shares how to generate referrals through relationship nurturing, brain science, and trust-based strategies—without asking, selling, or relying on traditional networking. If you're tired of feeling like you have to "sell" yourself to earn new clients, this conversation will reframe everything you thought you knew about referrals. Stick around—this could be the mindset shift your firm has been waiting for.Key Takeaways from Bridgit and Stacey:1. Referrals Are a Distinct Business PillarReferrals aren't part of prospecting or marketing—they're a third, separate leg of the business development stool.Recognizing and treating them as their system reshapes how you build sustainable client growth.2. Asking Isn't Required—There's a Better WayReferrals can be generated consistently without asking, manipulating, or promoting yourself awkwardly.By focusing on trust and intentional relationship-building, they emerge naturally from genuine connections.3. Relationship Respect Drives ResultsThe magic isn't in the ask—it's in how well you nurture and prioritize your referral sources.Putting their needs ahead of your own strengthens trust and leads to more frequent, high-quality referrals.4. Women Are Leading a Quiet RevolutionRather than fighting for space in outdated systems, many women are designing approaches that reflect how they truly want to lead. These new models prioritize alignment, authenticity, and long-term impact over transactional tactics.5. You Deserve Referrals—But You're Not Owed ThemDoing excellent work earns you the right to be referred, but referrals aren't automatic. To receive them consistently, you must commit to doing the relationship work with clarity and intention. "If referrals don't fit in prospecting or marketing, well, then they should fit in their own leg of the stool. We've got prospecting, we've got marketing, and referrals—and they're all three good in their own ways, but you need all three of them." — Stacey Brown RandallGet in touch with Stacey Brown Randall:Website: https://staceybrownrandall.com/Book: Generating Business Referrals Without Asking: https://www.amazon.com/Generating-Business-Referrals-Without-Asking-ebook/dp/B07D99KJ6H/Show: Roadmap to Referrals: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/roadmap-to-referrals/id1405302350LinkedIn:

What if burnout isn't just a personal failure, but a leadership blind spot?In this third episode of our Built to Lead series, host Bridgit Norris sits down with Lexlee Overton—veteran trial lawyer, executive coach, and founder of Mind Over Law—for a conversation that goes far deeper than self-care clichés.You'll learn why exhaustion is baked into the legal culture, how to rewire your nervous system for clarity and performance, and what it really takes to lead without sacrificing your well-being.If you're done glorifying grind and ready to reclaim your energy, this episode offers the exact tools to start now. Don't wait for your body to force the change—this is your wake-up call.Key Takeaways from Bridgit and Lexlee:1. Prioritize Energy Before ProductivityBefore diving into your tasks, take a moment to check in with your energy levels instead of your calendar.By starting the day with a short practice, such as breathwork or intentional movement, you lay the foundation for sustainable focus and clearer decision-making.2. Replace Hustle with CoherencyInstead of powering through stress with more hustle, learn to create internal alignment. Practicing simple techniques like heart-centered breathing before a meeting or tough conversation helps regulate your nervous system and keeps your response intentional, not reactive.3. Time Audit to Reclaim HoursFeeling overwhelmed? Start with a week-long time audit, tracking your tasks in 15-minute increments. This will reveal where your time and energy are going—and more importantly, what you can delegate or eliminate to free up space for what matters most.4. Set a Team Baseline for Emotional Check-insTo prevent burnout from spreading through your team, embed emotional awareness into your weekly stand-ups.Begin each meeting with three prompts: share one win, one current challenge, and one way the team can support you—this builds a culture of trust and shared accountability.5. Reframe the “No Time” NarrativeIf your go-to thought is, “I don't have time,” pause and challenge it.Just three minutes of gratitude-focused breathing can reset your state, calm your mind, and boost your capacity, proving that restoration doesn't have to be time-consuming to be effective. "If you're showing up overwhelmed, you're impacting your team. Like that one: you're not performing, you're not delegating, you're not doing the things that you should be doing, and you also are impacting them in response to that." — Lexlee OvertonGet in touch with Lexlee Overton:Website: https://mindoverlaw.com/Show: Mind Over Law: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/mind-over-law-with-lexlee-overton/id1755386630LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lexleeoverton/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lexleeoverton/Are you a high-achieving woman in law ready to become a powerhouse CEO?Then HER Law was built for you.

Find the work balance that protects your energyReaching a burnout point is often the wake-up call to stop doing everything yourself.Focus on building a practice that supports both your well-being and your goals by prioritizing flexibility and clarity in your daily work.2. Let go of control so your firm can growHolding onto every task might feel safe, but it prevents real growth.Identify what you love doing and delegate the rest to free up bandwidth and elevate your leadership.3. Build your practice around how you want to leadYou don't have to follow outdated models of success. Make decisions based on your values, your lifestyle, and what makes you a more effective leader and human.4. Design your CEO role with intention and visionYou can still love the law and lead the business, just not at the expense of your sanity.Step into the CEO seat by hiring for strength, not just cost, and create space for strategic growth.5. Create systems that evolve as you scaleGood systems are essential, but don't be afraid to pivot when something isn't working.Your ability to adapt and refine is what makes your firm resilient and future-ready."You're not able to scale... if you're still trying to be the case manager, the lawyer, the intake specialist, the billing person—all at an A-plus level." — Bridgette WilliamsGet in touch with Bridgette Williams:Website: https://texascrashlawyers.com/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/attorneybridgettewilliams/Instagram:

I learned much from today's podcast with mold expert Bridgit Danner. I've never given much thought about mold and the impact it could have on chronic disease or even cancer! When Bridgit explained that chemical warfare is often made from a mold, she got my attention! If mold is strong enough to be used in a bomb, what kind of havoc can it create in my body? Listen to today's episode to learn more about this fascinating topic.   Information About Today's Guest, Bridgit Danner: www.BridgitDanner.com Links to Bridgit's Books: The Ultimate Guide to Toxic Mold Recovery: Take Back Your Home, Health & Life Your Complete Guide to Health Recovery from Toxic Mold According to Dr. Isaac Eliaz: "You may not be aware of it, but mold is probably affecting your health. So even if it's not on your mind, “how to detox your body from mold” should be something we all need to be asking. Even if mold is making you sick, you might not know it's the source of your symptoms. That's because mold toxicity can act like many other conditions, so it often goes misdiagnosed and untreated. Exposure can cause many different symptoms, including: Fatigue Cough Shortness of breath Fever Headache Joint pain Memory problems Dizziness Sinus infections Wheezing Trouble concentrating Sensitivity to light Skin rash Digestive problems One of the main reasons mold toxins can cause so many different symptoms is this: These toxins can suppress or damage your immune system. Not only can they bring on symptoms themselves, they can make you more vulnerable to other illnesses. Surrounded by Mold Mold exposure is shockingly common. It's found in the air, damp or water-damaged buildings, even the food you're eating. Foods that commonly contain mold include cereal grains, nuts, spices, coffee, bulk foods (like the kind you buy from bins to save money) and dairy products. You come across mold inside and outside, and it can travel around with you. Mold spores can attach to things like: Clothing Shoes Pets Reusable grocery bags That means it can come home with you from just about anywhere. And if it ends up somewhere even slightly damp, it will grow and multiply. In nature, mold speeds up the break down (decomposition) of things like dead trees and fallen leaves. Some molds are used to make cheese or create antibiotics. But many types of mold can be hazardous to your health. These molds produce mycotoxins, poisons that can cause severe health problems and a wide variety of symptoms. The two most common harmful mycotoxins are aflatoxin and ochratoxin, and exposure to either (or both) of these can trigger substantial health issues — from chronic allergies to cancer. What's more, if your body can't remove these toxins on its own, they can slip into long-term storage to cause lasting or recurring damage. Mycotoxins Damage Your Health Mycotoxins are sneaky. While mold itself can't enter your bloodstream — though it can hang around and colonize in spots like your nostrils and lungs — mycotoxins can get into your bloodstream and circulate throughout your body. These opportunistic toxins can hijack your immune system, making you more vulnerable to infections. If your immune system is already compromised (such as people with autoimmune conditions or undergoing cancer treatment), mycotoxins take advantage. If you're healthy, they can make you very sick. Studies show that mycotoxins can: Cause lung inflammation that can make it harder to breathe Disrupt your gut health by reducing beneficial bacteria and encouraging pathogens Trigger chronic fatigue syndrome Affect brain function and cognition Cause liver damage, including cancer Worsen allergy and asthma symptoms Unfortunately, mold toxicity is frequently misdiagnosed. Because of its wide-ranging effects, it's typically mistaken for other conditions including depression, multiple sclerosis, or autoimmune conditions. Plus, because mycotoxins are opportunistic, they're often connected with debilitating diseases such as Lyme disease, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and fibromyalgia." I was SHOCKED to hear that when I buy frozen fish, it's frozen TWICE. It's usually frozen right after being caught, defrosted, processed, and then frozen again. I buy a lot of frozen fish; sometimes, the taste and texture can be inconsistent. Now that I have a better understanding of the processing of the fish before it hits my plate, it makes me wonder about quality. I called a friend who works at ButcherBox and asked her about the process with their salmon. She assured me that BB only freezes the fish ONCE! Which helps preserve the nutrients and taste. The big one for me is texture. When I eat fish, I want a firm texture, not rubbery! After getting over my shock (yes, fooled again by the food corporations) I asked my BB friend if I could pretty-please offer free salmon to my community. 33. MOLD: Can That Musty Smell Make You Sick? Plus, because mycotoxins are opportunistic, they're often connected with debilitating diseases such as Lyme disease, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and fibromyalgia." From "How to Detox Your Body from Mold Without Stressing Out Your Kidneys & Liver" by Isaac Eliaz, MD, MS, LAc   This episode is sponsored in part by ButcherBox. I love using Bison! It's very nutrient dense and contains conjugated linoleic acid (I know, what the heck does that mean?), which means Bison has anti-inflammatory properties. Here are the other reasons why I love using Bison in place of ground beef: Higher amounts of omega three fatty acids. More b12, zinc, iron, and selenium than beef. Some studies show it's got four times the vitamin E compared to beef. Lower in calories and cholesterol. It is lower fat, so it will cook faster than ground beef. My friends at BB are offering a deal that they've never offered to anyone! I had to say "pretty please" a couple of times, and guess what? It worked! I can't tell you how long they will offer this deal to me, but here it is:

Here's another all-star episode that I love so much and wanted to share with you today. As we round out this month's theme of “self-discipline” I think this topic is the perfect one to help us bring it all home. Today, we are talking all about how to finish that next big project… no, really. Done, finished, tick it off the list, stick a fork in it, and be DONE. But the problem is… most projects we start, we never finish them! Why is that??! My special guest today is author Bridgit Dengel Gaspard and she's simplifying how to finish that next big project. You see, she's got a theory that  the reason we mysteriously stop within sight of the finish line is actually because not all parts of you want what you think you want. In fact, these sub-personalities inside you have a distorted loyalty to your core negative beliefs and that's what is keeping you stuck.  Here's how to squash all of that. My special guest today is Bridgit Dengel Gaspard and she's simplifying how to finish that next big project. Why driven, go-getter, type-A kind of people tend to lose steam just before completing a big goal in their life  What the “Final 8th” is and how to overcome any self-sabotage when you're working towards your goals personally or professionally How to speak to your inner selves for clarity and insight through a technique called voice dialogue Why it's just as important to uncover our “core negative beliefs” as well as your core values to get at the root of things … and ultimately, what the key difference is between a person who achieves their goals easily vs. those who don't. You can do it, I believe in you… it's time to simplify! Q: Are you trying to figure out why you sometimes can't seem to finish that next big project? If yes, this one is for you. If you have ever seen mold growing inside your home, most of the time, there is a larger problem that you need to look into immediately. Surface mold is just the tip of the iceberg and can wreak havoc on any system in the body, which is why it is so important to identify these mycotoxins as soon as possible to save your health and your home. All Things Mold with Bridgit Danner Bridgit Danner is a licensed acupuncturist, certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner, and the founder of HormoneDetoxShop.com. After losing everything to toxic mold herself, Bridgit now educates about toxins and how to detoxify your body and home through a functional healthcare approach. She is my go-to expert when it comes to all things mold and is here today to share how your symptoms could be related to micro toxin exposure you might not even know about. Could Mold Be Causing Your Hormone Symptoms? Bridgit refers to toxic mold like a roommate that you don't want to have. Toxic mold will continue to grow and emit mycotoxins until it is dealt with for good. While you can't always see it, toxic mold can suppress your immune system, damage your cells, cause cancer and birth defects, impair mitochondrial function and the nervous system, and so much more.  The only way to recover from toxic mold exposure, whether it was recent or long in the past, is to detoxify. If you have been trying everything but still can't shake your symptoms, mold could be to blame. Daily Detoxification Is Key Cleansing your home and your system of mycotoxins can take a while. This is why Bridgit recommends going step by step and focusing on the basics in order to detoxify your system. Even if you have not been exposed to toxic mold, the toxins we are all exposed to the daily call for consistent detoxifying habits to help you age well and relieve your symptoms.  Daily detoxification is the key to getting past some of your biggest symptoms. While diagnosing a mold-related illness is critical, there is so much that we can do on a daily basis to detoxify our bodies and feel safe in our homes. Are you ready to cleanse your body and home from toxic mold exposure? Share your story with me in the comments below!

Bridgit Danner was working as an acupuncturist in Portland, Oregon when her health started to deteriorate. She learned a lot, tried a lot of things and even completed a functional health coaching program in an effort to heal herself and become a better practitioner. Although several things kind of helped, nothing helped completely, and she hit rock bottom in the winter of 2014. Soon after she discovered toxic mold in her 100-yr old home and began the long journey of home and body repair. Bridgit got into the natural medicine field in 2000 as a young environmentalist. Indoor mold is unfortunately a common problem that contributes to allergies, asthma, brain fog, and moodiness. But did you know it can also impact your hormones? When indoor mold is toxic (there are about 13 toxic species), it impacts the cells, brain, and body systems in a myriad of ways. Mold releases something called mycotoxins in the body, which causes many of the debilitating symptoms people are dealing with. Functional Health Coach and Detox expert Bridgit Danner joins me in this episode to help break down exactly what is happening when mold gets inside your body, and what to do about it. Some of the topics we discuss include: ✨How that breakthrough bleeding, thyroid autoimmunity, or even weight gain can be an indication of a mold issue ✨How mold directly impacts the hypothalamus and pituitary glands, which are the epi-center of our sex, adrenal, and thyroid hormones ✨What signs to look for in your house when you suspect mold ✨Following what your body tells you, even when it's really scary (like dealing with a mold infestation!) can change your life for the better We also talk about what supplements are most helpful when you are dealing with mold and mycotoxins, as well as testing that Bridgit offers to help you get on track.
