 You know the headline - in fact you could write the story on the explosion in digital banking transactions during the last pandemic year.  But do you know this: there has also been an explosion in the use of digital self-service information gathering and problem solving.That's the surprising news in a report from TimeTrade SilverCloud, a provider of customer engagement solutions.  In this podcast Bill Clark, CEO of TimeTrade SilverCloud offers the specifics - and prepared to be surprised.   Everybody knew members have been using digital to check account balances and pay bills but who knew members were making strong use of digital to investigate everything from PPP loans to how to get contactless debit cards.By TimeTrade SilverCloud's data,  "Usage of online self-service increased 38% from March to April 2020 and has sustained a level 69% greater even a year later – demonstrating a shift in customer behavior to leverage self-service options before reaching out for live support."Another factoid: Usage of knowledge based in mobile banking apps is up 82% year on year.A third blockbuster number: "Chatbot usage on bank and credit union websites and mobile apps increased 272% year-over-year."A last fact: Credit unions saw a 107% increase in year over year in pre-scheduling in branch appointments from Q1 2020 to Q1 2021.The numbers tell the story: Something big has happened in regard to how we do our financial services.This is a brisk podcast.  Listen up.Like what you are hearing? Calendars, Schedulers and Your Website

In our busy world, it feels like we never have enough time! With the start of the new year, comes the tendency to want to become more organized.  To do things in a new and different way. It comes from the clean slate of a brand new year. One of the biggest time savers I have implemented into my website was adding a calendar scheduling link to my website. It saves me from going back and forth to find a time that works for everyone. It also enables me to calendar block my time so that I am not jumping around with tasks and can instead be present for client calls when they occur.  I dig into how to set this up on your website in this week's episode, get the whole scoop here. I cover both calendars and scheduling links specifically for WordPress. If you don't have a WordPress site, I highly encourage you to look at building one for your next website. I go into all the reasons why in Episode 60, but the big two are scalability and SEO power.  If you have a different website, the scheduling piece of this episode will still be relevant, but you may want to fast forward to that piece (20:45). Let's jump into website calendars first. First, why would you want a calendar on your website? Specifically, this works for businesses that offer classes or regular events.  I talk specifically about uses for restaurants and my friends over at the Craft Box who offer a multitude of classes for their audience. Get the whole scoop on how it could work for you here.  These are my 3 recommendations for an integrated (lives on your website) calendar: 1. Modern Events Calendar.  They offer a free version that you can try out first, but if you have advanced needs like adding ticketing and payment options to your events, you will need to purchase a license.  For one website (which is most likely what you will need) it's currently $75.  I like that this calendar: Integrates with lots of other software (including payment options) That you can categorize events That you can enable reservations (super helpful!) That you can customize the calendar to match the rest of your site You can create recurring and custom events They offer options for weather, maps, and location 2. Sugar Events Calendar. This option is less expensive, but as always, you get what you pay for.  The paid version of this plugin is $29 a year and comes with quite a bit of functionality. But, if you need something with advanced features, I would go with Modern Events Calendar. The best features for this calendar are: Simple to use Quite a few features Integrates with most calendar options They claim it won't slow down your site 3. Events Schedule.  This option is $29 a one time fee.  It offers 12 style choices, but no customizing.  Because this is a third party plugin offered through a vendor, support can be spotty.  That is the main reason it is the third option on this list. The benefits of this option are: It integrates with most other calendars It includes a schedule builder Is optimized for speed Is easy to set up  To wrap up - here are some important questions to consider before making a calendar choice: Will it integrate with your current calendaring option (Google, iCal, Office, etc.)? Is it responsive so it serves your mobile audience well? How will the integration affect your overall site experience (slow it down, etc.)? Does it have the functionality you need in your business? Let's hop into Schedulers next! In the episode, I cover why you need a scheduler and the different ways an online schedule link can help you optimize your time. Here are my recommendations: 1. Acuity Scheduling. This is the scheduler I use and I have tried a few.  I prefer this option because: I can control my time by appointment type (some appointments require more time) Integrates with my Google calendar I can add teammates as I bring them on I am able to customize the look and feel I can create surveys for different client types There are multiple time-saving integrations like Zoom and payment connections This plugin is easy to connect to any website, I am going to do a live video this week over on the Facebook page to show you how to set it up in WordPress.  Come check it out here. 2. Schedule Once. I started with this plugin and it has a lot of great features, but I moved to Acuity because: The mobile access is terrible No client data is stored They don't offer recurring appointments Personally, I didn't really like the backend, I felt it was harder to maneuver. But, it's still worth checking out depending on your needs and they do offer online training. 3. Timetrade. I've not used Timetrade, but this a good starting option. As a starter, there are not a lot of the above options available.  However, the price is right to get you started.  Onboard pricing is $6.50 per month per user.  Here are some of the reasons it doesn't work for my business: Limited to creating one calendar. There are no analytics available for measurement. There is no way to break up appointment types (one link for all different appointments). Lower pricing options don't offer integrations or advanced features. No free trial. That's a wrap for this week. What would a list of 100—or even 10—new JV partners do for your business growth?Automate the initial connection: Create a script or email template to use when you first reach out to potential partners. Your VA can send this in an email or make a call on your behalf, but having the script in place will accomplish two things:The process will be much faster than if you have to think about what to say.You’ll be able to tweak the script as you go to get better results. Just like you split test your emails, you can test your outreach process as well.Automate the follow-up: At the risk of sounding like a broken record, create an email or phone script to help speed the process. You or your VA (or your email autoresponder series) can send out a series of emails to follow up on that initial connection.Automate your scheduling: Using a service such as TimeTrade or ScheduleOnce, you can easily set up your calendar with your preferred times for interviews, webinars and such. Give your JV partners links to book time with you, and the meetings will automatically appear on your calendar. No more endless back and forth to discuss potential meeting times, just a single click, and your partner can choose the time that works for both of you.Here’s a hint though: be sure to use your calendar diligently, because if you don’t you run the risk of someone scheduling time with you when you already have another commitment.Will it take a bit of work to get these systems in place? Sure. But once you do, you’ll find that attracting and working with JV partners, guest experts and others is much easier and more streamlined. The podcast allows potential customers to get to know you, and trust you which makes it easy for them to decide to work with you. Think of all the ways you can use your audio content. Beth re-purposed her podcast into a popular blog, and even wrote the book, The Introvert Entrepreneur. Beth regrets not getting help with her podcast sooner because it could have saved her valuable time. She now spends $300 a month in podcast production help and show notes. This frees up her time to work with the paying clients that find her through the show! Smart! By interviewing leaders in your field, and promoting their accomplishments you can create a "Circle of Champions" who will be eager to support you when needed. Always stay true to the essence of your show even when you make changes to the format. Beth uses TimeTrade to help with the scheduling of guests. She also uses a password protected form to collect details on her guests to save some research legwork. Her form was created with a Wordpress plugin called Formidable. Introverted podcasters can find it overwhelming to attend podcast conferences so it's important to pace yourself, and practice self care. Beth suggests watching out for the "shoulds". As soon as you feel like there is something you should do, it's a sign that you may be making unrealistic assumptions.   Are your goals S.M.A.R.T. goals? Specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound. Tune into today's program to uncover the tried and true techniques (16 total) to keep yourself motivated, focused, out of the procrastination zoned and focused on getting it all done and achieving that goal: Our marketer of the week is Jim Edwards from TheNetReporter. My biggest takeaway from him: just point and shoot PowerPoint for your video. It doesn't need to have quick cuts, fancy edits or be professionally done -- at all. General Motivation Four Daily Tasks: Business-Building, Deliverable (no degrees of doneness, no chipping away, no to-do lists) Seinfeld calendar (do something small every day so the cycle isn't broken) + 5 day sprint Formula and checklist: for example, 3 part podcasts and "research heavy" blog posts: 100 solutions, group into 4-5 categories and whittle down so it's all meat and no grissle, which leads us to... Reduce and rearrange the raw materials -- SIMPLE mindmapping with FreeMind helps with this. Absolute Focus Dual monitors: left for viewing, right for creating Remove: distractions, phone, social media, email, TV, news Clear the clutter: delete temporary EverNote notes and delete after you've made the blog post or product. Clear off desktop items at the end of the month. Quick calendar reminders later in the week to "check on" things and then delete. Micro-projects: start on Monday, end on Friday or Saturday. You can restart on Monday, but don't leave things open-ended. (Optimistically pessimistic.) Procrastination What quick 10 minute activity have you been putting off? Do it now. Accountability partner. Call every hour if you have a really bad "problem." Shut down distractions. Close tabs, uninstall Facebook. Change the pattern. Commit. Don't ask yourself how you "feel" about it. It's a must. Concentration What are the top 3 things to focus on? Avoid going an inch deep and a mile wide. Meditation (meaning silence and reflectiveness). A state change is as good as rest. In this interview, Spencer chats with Jake Hower from FuzedApp about how automating business processes with FuzedApp helps small businesses. Jake started FuzedApp to automate the processes in his own travel agency business in Australia. As he described what he was doing to other business owners, he found their was an interest to offer his system as a service to other entrepreneurs. As he is building the business, he is taking the old school approach Gary Vaynerchuck mentioned this week of actually picking up the phone and calling your customers to find out what they want and how it’s working for them. He is also extending that personal touch to hand written cards to each of the new customers. With a little over 20 customers at the time of the interview, he is still in the early stages of the game, but definitely gaining momentum as more business owners find out about the tool through word of mouth and social media. Currently, the system is focused on two platforms, Infusionsoft (Jake uses this) and Ontraport (formerly Office Autopilot which we use). The tool then allows you connect those systems to other systems we use like Wistia, GotoWebinar, and Timetrade or ScheduleOnce. Wistia, is a great video we player we use that allows us to track how long individual members of our membership watch our videos. FuzedApp allows us to collect that data, and save it into Ontraport allowing us to create a lead score based on how much of a video the contact has watched. The same technique is also applied to GotoWebinar scoring contacts based on whether they showed up for a webinar and how long they attended. FuzedApp integrates with Timetrade and ScheduleOnce by connecting to Google Calendar and saving appointment data in Ontraport and Infusionsoft. Technology is great, but only if it helps you work better. On this episode, I share 7 online tools that I use and will help you get the most of our your time. I currently use them all daily in my work and I'm excited to share their benefits with you. My three criteria for selection these tools: Cross-platform Not apps/tools that you already know everything about Clear business model Frees time to invest doing the things you are best at I currently use all of them Highrise (highrisehq.com) The problem this solves: Trying to piece together everything someone has every told you in multiple places. Far less complex than traditional CMSs Manage relationships Track conversations Tag people for events, projects, etc. Track details (birthdays, family names, etc.) Integrates Twitter and LinkedIn Basic task management Tracks pending customer deals Free plan up to 250 contacts / 30-day free trial What will this help you do? Get stuff out of your head and manage lots of different relationships. Basecamp (basecamp.com) The problem this solves: Re-doing the same work again and again and checking in to see if people have done stuff. Project management tracking Templates for projects Integration with a team No free version, but a 60-day free trial (no credit card), $20/month TimeTrade (coachingforleaders.com/timetrade) [affiliate link] The problem this solves: Spending countless hours going back and forth with people on times to schedule with you. You give TimeTrade calendar access (Outlook, Calendar, Google calendar) and it looks for free spots You have a link and people can schedule and cancel automatically Great for people who are outside your organization and don’t want to have any detailed access to your calendar Appointments show up automatically in calendar and by email One downside - you need to watch what is free in your calendar Free version is available, but I use the $49/year version Check out http://coachingforleaders.com/timetrade [affiliate link] for a 30-day free trial Lift (lift.do) The problem this solves: Keeps you on track for the daily habits that are important to you. Set habits in the system Track when you complete them Follow others and encourage others and get encouragement in return Example: Wake up at 5am It sends you little motivators by email on alerts on your phone This version is entirely free See screenshot below from my iPhone   Instapaper (instapaper.com) The problem this solves: Cool articles on the web distracting you from getting your work done Set up an account and install an extension in your browser See something you like? Hit the button on your browser and it saves it into your account. Read it later on the device you want to use. I use the Instapaper app on my iPad. I can then send it other places. Instapaper account is free, but the apps are a few dollars, depending on the device you use. Or, you can read on the web. Pocket is a another alternative, but I'm not clear on their business model. Buffer (bufferapp.com) The problem this solves: Staying engaged on social media without having to be on social media all the time One of my goals this year - show up more online.
