Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
After my conversation with Dr. Greg Fahy in August, I realized that I had additional questions that we didn't have time to address the first time around. Importantly, since here I am studying the effects of dietary and lifestyle interventions on aging, I wanted to know his thoughts on the dietary components of the TRIMM study and beyond. Dr. Fahy shares his thoughts on my question and some others on side effects on different medication and supplement interventions, the mechanism by which he thinks the restoration of hair color occurred in some of his study participants, and how to think about (and feel motivated about!) incorporating safe exercise. This brief bonus podcast episode is just right for squeezing into your holiday schedule. Enjoy! ~DrKF Missed the first conversation with Dr. Greg Fahy? Charlie Trimm (RHC Member) | Flourishing in Exile, Ep. 10
CancerNetwork® collaborated with CURE® to speak with Samantha Shenoy, NP, MSN, a nurse practitioner at the Cancer Immunotherapy Clinic of University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Health, about the role she plays when treating patients with multiple myeloma who are receiving talquetamab-tgvs (Talvey). Of note, emphasis was placed on managing treatment-emergent adverse effects (TRAEs) and toxicities that may impact quality of life. Shenoy foregrounded the discussion by outlining the role of nurses in facilitating the management of toxicities and providing education to patients in both an inpatient and outpatient capacity. She subsequently discussed common skin, oral, and dermatologic toxicities, as well as how they impact patient quality of life. Furthermore, she touched upon taking an aggressive approach to addressing early-grade cytokine release syndrome (CRS), placing an emphasis on close adherence to UCSF clinical guidelines for treating it. Additionally, Shenoy acknowledged the possibility of neurological effects occurring as a result of treatment with talquetamab, although she stated she has not observed any in her experiences with using the bispecific. Shenoy disclosed talquetamab-related monitoring parameters, indicating that taste changes and weight loss were notable risks. Particularly for weight loss, she mentioned that she regularly checks in with patients about their eating habits and weight. Furthermore, methods for living with taste changes were discussed, which included recommendations for prophylactics, dietary modifications, and dry mouth remedies. Shenoy continued by suggesting that the efficacy seen with talquetamab, particularly as part of a combination therapy, makes it an impactful agent. Citing her experience as part of the phase 1 TRIMM-2 trial (NCT04108195), where talquetamab was assessed in combination with daratumumab (Darzalex) in relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma, she claimed that combination therapies for bispecifics would become the new standard in this patient population. She concluded by expressing her passion for educating patients about management strategies for multiple myeloma. Additionally, she further illustrated the sentiment through her experience witnessing patients continue treatment for several years while overcoming toxicities associated with talquetamab. “I feel passionately about the fact that we can educate patients who are struggling at the beginning [to] hang in there. It is not going to last forever,” Shenoy stated. “I can imagine how frustrating it is [when you are not] able to taste, your mouth is dry, and your hands are peeling. Just know that it is not forever.” Reference Dholaria, BR, Weisel K, Mateos MV, et al. I had a dream of being in an all-green grass as far as the eye could see. There was only 1 tree, food came from the tree when I was hungry. Drink came from the tree when I was thirsty. Then I saw Gold coins falling from the tree, God said they were being distributed to many - He said to Pray for Money, release, and financial breakthroughs. For today's episode Jon brought on Allie Trimm to talk about 13: The Musical. A lot of their discussion is Jon asking questions about the stage version to get a better sense as to what was changed, and Allie also sings a little during the episode. And they both are excited to see what this cast does in the future if they're delivering this level of performance at 13-ish (what is age?).Also, past Jon didn't know that future Jon would add "Opportunity" to his life's playlist.Allie's Instagram: @allietrimmPodcast Socials -Email: butasongpod@gmail.comInstagram: @butasongpodTwitter: @butasongpodFacebook: @butasongpodNext episode: The Harvey Girls!

This episode involves a rich discussion with Brittany Kim and Charlie Trimm about three book's they've written. We first discuss their co-authored book about the discipline of Old Testament theology, including the challenges of relating the two testaments and descriptive vs. normative theology. Then we discuss Brittany's book on Isaiah's familial and servant metaphors, including gendered language for God as well as the way that metaphors can help us wrestle with challenging prophetic texts. Finally, we talk about Charlie's recent work on approaches to violence in the Canaanite conquest, which maps some of the benefits and drawbacks to various proposals for mitigating the challenges of violence in Joshua. And there's much more here! The post Old Testament Theology, Isaiah's Metaphors, and Canaanite Genocide: A Conversation with Brittany Kim and Charlie Trimm first appeared on OnScript.

The Israelite destruction of the Canaanites, found in biblical passages such as Deuteronomy 7:1–2, presents a conundrum to Christians. Here's what that passage says: "When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you many nations — the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, seven nations larger and stronger than you — and when the Lord your God has delivered them over to you and you have defeated them, then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy." Here's the conundrum: On the one hand, the Bible is inspired and inerrant, and the God it presents is morally perfect. On the other hand, the commandment to destroy the Canaanites seems genocidal. How can a morally perfect God issue such commands? That's the question I ask Prof. Charlie Trimm in this episode of the Influence Podcast. I'm George P. Wood, executive editor of Influence magazine and your host. Prof. Trimm is author of The Destruction of the Canaanites: God, Genocide, and Biblical Interpretation, which comes out March 15 from Eerdmans Publishing Company. He is associate professor of biblical and theological studies at Talbott School of Theology in La Mirada, California. ----- This episode of the Influence podcast is brought to you by My Healthy Church, distributors of Reclaim His Promises: A Nehemiah Study Journal.
