As I tell Gabrielle in the following interview, when a new Gabrielle Brady film emerges into the world, it is like the arrival of a gift, one that pulls us into a mindset of considering the lives of others, including those of the crabs of Christmas Island, or maybe the horses of the Gobi Desert. It's one that encourages us to see the world of truth differently. That notion of truth is something I've asked filmmakers a lot lately, and I'm conscious of its almost accusatory nature, as if documentary filmmaking must adhere to one True Reality. But it's impossible. The truth can never be captured on screen, and truth is in itself a falsity. After all, as soon as you put a camera on an event, or slice it with an editing suite, or apply a score to it, you are skewing reality away from the truth. Documentary storytelling is, by its own creation, not the truth. Yet, the emotions that we're left with and the memories that linger in our mind after the film has long played out, become a source of truth. Yet, as I slip into this spiral a little further, it's clear that co-authored filmmaking like that of Gabrielle Brady's exists to explore versions of the truth, to bring stories of subjects and collaborators to life, and to enrich our collective world. These notions are underpinned by Gabrielle's choice to study at the prestigious La Escuela Internacional de Cine in Cuba, a place which fosters the notion to 'defend the rights to ones own image' and to 'liberate the viewer's gaze'. These are ideas that I ask Gabrielle about in the following interview, which gives way to an open conversation about her creative process, and what it means to be able to work alongside people like Poh Lin, Davaa and Zaya, and Michael Latham, on her films. This interview was recorded ahead of Wolves' screenings at the Sydney Film Festival on 10 and 12 June. This is a film I urge audiences to see in a cinema, let it overwhelm your senses. Let it change you. If you're interested in reading about how the film changed me, then you can read my review here. oin us for a profound conversation with Catherine, an environmental scientist and Akashic reader, as she shares insights into the nature of reality, spirituality, and our place within the universe. We delve into topics like ayahuasca, psychic abilities, astral projection, and the interconnectedness of all living things. Catherine also explains the concept of Akashic records and how they contain the history of everything in the universe. Catherine shares her personal journey of spiritual awakening, from suppressing her intuitive gifts as a child to embracing them later in life through her work in environmental education and Akashic reading training. She highlights the significance of collective awakening and how individual transformations can contribute to larger societal shifts. We also explore the idea that our reality is undergoing significant changes, with the sun evolving into its next phase and humanity experiencing a major awakening cycle. Catherine discusses how this shift is affecting people's mental states, leading to increased cases of mental illness and unusual behaviors – all of which she believes are connected to spiritual awakening symptoms. Get ready to expand your mind and explore the mysteries of existence. Whether you're curious about spirituality, reality, or personal growth, this conversation will inspire and challenge your perspectives – prompting you to reconsider what's truly possible. https://mandalamessage.com/

ADZG 1172 ADZG Sunday Morning Dharma Talk by Taigen Dan Leighton The post Hongzhi's Deep Source and Practice of True Reality first appeared on Ancient Dragon Zen Gate.
On this episode in our Other End of the Tunnel Series we are joined by Mark Dant. When their son was just three years old, Mark and his wife were told that their son would pass within the decade after his diagnosis of MPS 1 and the lack of treatments available. As they laid on his floor listening to him breathe on the night of his diagnosis, they buried the home that might have been and the dreams of the life that was no longer possible. As Mark joins us today, his son is now 35, married, recently bought a home and is still having the journey that they never thought he would be able to experience. What started as a bake sale raising just a few hundred dollars led them down a path that led to a scientist. Everything they did at the moment regardless of how small of insignificant it seemed, and over the next 30 years, culminated to what is happening now. That scientist and his dedication led to a treatment just 8 weeks before Ryan's 10th birthday that forever changed the course of their life. More importantly, that scientist has remained present in their lives throughout all of Ryan's milestones. He was present at his High School graduation, his college graduation, and even recently at his wedding. That scientist's dedication and commitment pushed the science to a treatment for Ryan and that treatment allowed the development of treatments for so many other children with similar rare diseases.

Fr. Jacob Hsieh is a Nobertine priest of St. Michael's Abbey and a teacher of Latin, religion and chant. In this episode, he discusses the sacramentals.Sacramentals lead us to the Sacraments. How do Sacramentals work and what they do for us when we use them with faith and intention?Sacramentals run the gamut from blessings of consecrated virgins to articles such as relics and rosaries. Some, such as holy water, are used by almost every Catholic. Others are more personal, such as devotionals to a particular saint.Sacramentals have embellished the official liturgies of the Church or sprung from the cultures of different peoples and different times. For being Catholic is more than the bare bones: attending Mass, receiving Communion twice a year, going to confession, getting confirmed, married and buried in the Church. It is even more than practicing virtues and avoiding sin. It is a way of life in which the body, its senses and spirit are intermingled.Sacramentals, by their very voluntariness, their apparent status as extras, can supply the externals that make the Catholic way of life singular and outstanding.Sacramentals are not superstitions, holdovers from pre-Christian days, or Catholic substitutes for the longing of pagans to dance around trees and mutter spells. There is a part of us that longs for something tangible we can hold on to, something to look at, something to touch, something to sing, chant or recite, something that interacts with the senses. The sacraments, those sacred mixtures of matter and the Holy Spirit, fulfill that need. And so, in a lesser way, do sacramentals. What is the difference between correct use of the sacramental and superstition? It has to do with an inner attitude, for superstition is second cousin to magic. The superstitious person says, "If I sprinkle holy water here, say these prayers and cross myself, I will make God or His saints do this for me." But the person using a sacramental properly says. "I want to be closer to God—to be constantly and effectively reminded of the power of His love and glory, of His protection, forgiveness and mercy. So I will cross myself when I pass a church to remind myself of His passion. I will make a novena to ask God's saints for their prayers. I will do these things, not because I am strong and have the power to make God and His saints do my will, but because I am weak, distractible and forgetful, and need to remind myself of True Reality."So Catholics hang crucifixes and holy images in their homes to remind them of God and His works. They cross themselves, bless themselves and their homes with holy water and oil. They pray the Angelus at noon in remembrance of the Incarnation. They kiss the Bible or holy object they have accidentally dropped.Catholics who choose to weave the use of sacramentals into their daily lives can experience a richer, more textured Catholicism. For instance, one young father sprinkles holy water around the beds of his children and pray to God to protect them against nightmares, which sometimes are a problem in their house. Another mother I know uses blessed salt when she bakes bread for her family. Before setting out on a long trip, one youth group blesses its cars with holy oil for a safe journey. I myself have experienced peace during difficult times when I kissed or touched the Miraculous Medal I wear as a reminder of the loving protection of my Mother in heaven. The list of how sacramentals have affected my life and the lives of those I know goes on and on.If you do not use sacramentals, consider looking into their use. Ann Ball's excellent "Handbook of Catholic Sacramentals" (Our Sunday Visitor) provides explanations of the history and proper use of many popular and obscure sacramentals. As Christ was the invisible God made visible, so sacramentals, like sacraments, are visible signs of His invisible grace, sanctifying daily life. In a way, they

Notes//Quotes: Kim J reading - Prov 6:6-11, 3:9-10, 23:4-5 Gen 2:15-17, Gen 1:27-28 Prov 10:4 Prov 15:6 Prov 22:1-2, Prov 23:5 “The works of monks and priests, however holy and arduous they be, do not differ one whit in the sight of God from the works of the rustic laborer in the field or the woman going about her household tasks, but that all works are measured before God by faith alone… Indeed, the menial housework of a manservant or maidservant is often more acceptable to God than all the fastings and other works of a monk or priest, because the monk or priest lacks faith.” Martin Luther Col 3:17, Col 3:25 Our work can be a calling only if it is reimagined as a mission of service to something beyond merely our own interests. Thinking of work mainly as a means of self-fulfillment and self-realization slowly crushes a person. - Tim Keller and Katherine Alsdorf “The Church's approach to an intelligent carpenter is usually confined to exhorting him not to be drunk and disorderly in his leisure hours, and to come to church on Sundays. What the church should be telling him is this: that the very first demand that his religion makes upon him is that he should make good tables. Church by all means, and decent forms of amusement, certainly—but what us is all that if in the very center of his life and occupation he is insulting God with bad carpentry? No crooked table legs or ill fitting drawers ever, I dare swear, came out of the carpenter's shop at Nazareth. Nor, if they did, couple anyone believe that they were made by the same hand that made heaven and earth. - Dorthy Sayers 1 Cor 15:57-58, Everyone will be forgotten, nothing we do will make any difference, and all good endeavours, even the best, will come to naught. Unless there is God. If the God of the Bible exists, and there is a True Reality beneath and behind this one, and this life is not the only life, then every good endeavour, even the simplest ones, pursued in response to God's calling, can matter forever. - Tim Keller

The topics we discuss in it will challenge you as they touch on deep Truths that many would rather distract themselves from If you're like most people, you'd rather distract and delude yourself from the actual Truth than you would face it and overcome it. It's always so refreshing to have real, honest conversations about entrepreneurship with women who also have big visions. She lived with her grandparents who were a significant influence to her creativity. Gorjana's childhood home was full of handmade trinkets, which ignited her passion of creation and ultimately led her to visualize gorjana as a brand. After completing her degree in Marketing at Arizona State University she moved with her (now) husband, Jason, to California. While working in the jewelry department at Neiman Marcus, Gorjana realized she had a love for jewelry design. She soon started working with a local designer to learn all aspects of the jewelry-making business. She set out to design fun, versatile jewelry that all of her friends would want - at an accessible price point. At 26, she did just that. Gorjana launched her namesake jewelry collection with an accessible price point that had the look and feel of high-end jewelry. During their humble beginnings, Gorjana and Jason would drive thousands of miles selling their collection and fulfill orders from their apartment. The pair ultimately grew out of the apartment and into an artist's studio in the canyon of Laguna Beach, California. gorjana has since grown into a multi-million dollar business with high-profile customers that include the likes of Michelle Obama. Gorjana still maintains the welcoming price point and customer experience, which has allowed the expansion of their DTC stores across the country, with more store openings announced in 2022. ABOUT IVA Iva Pawling is the CEO and Co-Founder of Richer Poorer. Iva has taken the company through fundraising, an early acquisition, and a founder buy back over the last decade. She leads the company's strategic planning, brand direction and product category expansion with an irritating level of persistence. Iva has been featured in Forbes, Inc., LA Times and included in the 100 Powerful Women of 2020 in Entrepreneur Magazine. She has spent her entire 20-year career in the fashion industry, starting out in the PR closet at Kate Spade and ending in overseeing Brand Development for her sister's namesake jewelry brand Gorjana, prior to founding Richer Poorer. Iva holds a B.S. in Communications from Arizona State University.
