You should hear his reaction when I mentioned the tasting glass we use at the Wine of the Month Club! Riedel, The Wine Glass Company, is synergistic with fine wine and the proper glassware to enhance the experience. Wine is experiential and the glass matters. Listen to the passion of Maximilian Riedel, 11th generation glass maker and CEO of Riedel Glassware. The glass matters, and he will tell you why. It is fairly obvious to sense that drinking a fine wine from a plastic amber tumbler in a diner can't match the experience of tasting a wine in fine Austrian crystal in a fine restaurant. It seems as though there would be two different wines when tasting side by side. Hear why this is and get it from the man himself. Riedel was founded in 1756, 11 generations ago, to create fine glassware. Today, Riedel is the leading authority on varietal specific glassware. The story is fascinating. PK

She lived with her grandparents who were a significant influence to her creativity. Gorjana's childhood home was full of handmade trinkets, which ignited her passion of creation and ultimately led her to visualize gorjana as a brand. After completing her degree in Marketing at Arizona State University she moved with her (now) husband, Jason, to California. While working in the jewelry department at Neiman Marcus, Gorjana realized she had a love for jewelry design. She soon started working with a local designer to learn all aspects of the jewelry-making business. She set out to design fun, versatile jewelry that all of her friends would want - at an accessible price point. At 26, she did just that. Gorjana launched her namesake jewelry collection with an accessible price point that had the look and feel of high-end jewelry. During their humble beginnings, Gorjana and Jason would drive thousands of miles selling their collection and fulfill orders from their apartment. The pair ultimately grew out of the apartment and into an artist's studio in the canyon of Laguna Beach, California. gorjana has since grown into a multi-million dollar business with high-profile customers that include the likes of Michelle Obama. Gorjana still maintains the welcoming price point and customer experience, which has allowed the expansion of their DTC stores across the country, with more store openings announced in 2022. ABOUT IVA Iva Pawling is the CEO and Co-Founder of Richer Poorer. Iva has taken the company through fundraising, an early acquisition, and a founder buy back over the last decade. She leads the company's strategic planning, brand direction and product category expansion with an irritating level of persistence. Iva has been featured in Forbes, Inc., LA Times and included in the 100 Powerful Women of 2020 in Entrepreneur Magazine. She has spent her entire 20-year career in the fashion industry, starting out in the PR closet at Kate Spade and ending in overseeing Brand Development for her sister's namesake jewelry brand Gorjana, prior to founding Richer Poorer. Iva holds a B.S. in Communications from Arizona State University.
Blood Money With Chris Reidel, A fraud fighter and one who would set the record straight! A leader in a world of corruption and unlock the truth as we say it will always set you free~~~ Join me in this episode to learn about his book and undertaking to reveal what many of us have known and suspected fpr years! I never imagined I would become a fraud fighter. My closest friends, also successful businessmen, despised anyone who sued corporations particularly whistleblowers. This held throughout corporate America. Was I about to become something they despised? After much research and reflection, it appeared to me that the only way to save taxpayers from being ripped off and, in the case of Hunter, to save the business itself was to stop the Blood Brothers frauds. The only way to potentially do that was through a whistleblower, or Qui-tam, lawsuit. But did I really want to file suit against several of the biggest laboratory companies engaging in these practices? The bigger question: Did I want to see taxpayers in California, and throughout the nation, continue to be ripped off by these companies to the tune of billions of dollars, as they defrauded State and Federal governments? When I looked at it that way, I became a man on a mission. A mission that continues today. Blood Money is the story of how a Silicon Valley CEO became a fraud fighter. It is an insider s look at the David vs. Goliath struggle between a whistleblower seeking to save his company and stop taxpayers from being ripped-off, and healthcare companies engaged in massive fraud. Affecting millions of taxpayers, it is one of the biggest hidden stories in the healthcare world until now. Imagine running a successful business in highest integrity until squeezed out by a pair of companies engaging in one of the greatest predatory pricing schemes in the medical world. What do you do? Such was Chris Riedel s dilemma, which led him to become one of the top medical whistleblowers and fraud fighters in U.S. history, which he chronicles in his riveting true-crime book, Blood Money. Chris ran a highly regarded Northern California lab testing company, Hunter Labs, until falling to the nefarious scheme of the Blood Brothers, Quest and LabCorp, the world s top medical test labs. Their scheme, which involved loss-leader pricing to doctors to gain their business, and then overcharging Medicare, Medicaid and Medi-Cal as much as 40-fold, has cost taxpayers billions of dollars during the past 15 years and forced higher quality, but smaller labs like Hunter, either to fold or be absorbed by them. In Blood Money, Riedel exposes the underworld of medical fraud in unsparing terms. He begins with the Blood Brothers fraud against Hunter Labs and others, which pushed Chris and his attorney partners, Niall McCarthy (son of former Calif. Lieutenant Governor Leo McCarthy) and Justin Berger into action. Chris and his attorneys blew the whistle, and won a landmark $300 million in settlements for the Blood Money With Chris~! In a day and age with the truth will set you free I know you will be over the top unleashed to hear what he uncovered like a movie!~~Chris State of California and taxpayers in a highly publicized 2011 case. Since then, his efforts have expanded into becoming a full-fledged medical fraud fighter against other lab testing companies defrauding taxpayers. Chris won or settled cases in Florida, Michigan, Virginia, Nevada, Georgia, California and, most recently in November, a $28 million settlement against Boston Heart Diagnostics (see attached article). He and his team have worked both with and independent of the DOJ on 27 cases. They have another half dozen cases open. Chris is a fraud fighter of highest esteem, a whistleblower not only going after medical fraud, but making sure the taxpayer doesn t get ripped off any more. In all, he and his partners have won cases totaling $553 million, the vast majority of which went back to state and federal government treasury coffers. Likewise, his open, deeply honest and often blunt writing in Blood Money makes him a voice to a wide reading audience most of whom have undergone medical lab tests would love to hear from. In Blood Money, he takes us on a compelling, sometimes high-drama adventure through the fight to survive vs. Quest and LabCorp s practices, and the dire retribution he faced from these multi-billion dollar Goliaths not to mention being weeks away from professional and personal bankruptcy, and destroying the life he and Marcia had built. He chronicles the landmark 2011 California case, the many he s pursued since, and how fraud fighting has changed his life. Furthermore, he describes the world of the whistleblower in detail and offers universal tips to those considering taking such action, no matter the industry.
Amy Reidel, Independent Artist, and Margaret Rieckenberg, Associate Curator for Barrett Barrera Projects stopped by to speak about the happenings at the various galleries of BBP, and specifically about the exhibition "Stretch Marks" which has been extended through November 27th. Amy Reidel is a St. Louis-based artist who has exhibited work regionally and nationally. She has been a resident artist at ACRE (Artists' Cooperative Residency and Exhibitions) based out of Chicago, the David and Julia White Artists' colony in Ciudad Colon, Costa Rica and at the Luminary Center for the Arts in St. Louis. She has exhibited work at venues including the Contemporary Art Museum-St. Louis, ACRE projects gallery in Chicago, and the Amarillo Museum of Art. Her work can be viewed online in the curated artist registries and viewing programs at White Columns and the Drawing Center in New York City. In 2014, 2019 and 2020 Reidel was awarded Artists' Support and COVID-19 relief grants from the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis and the Washington University/Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum. In 2016 she received the Critical Mass Creative Stimulus award. Reidel is currently a faculty member at Washington University and St. Louis Community College as well as Co-Founder of All the Art: The Visual Art Quarterly of St. Louis (2015-2020). Stretch Marks is an exhibition that highlights expressive mark-making as a means to explore the material in the maternal and the experience of having a body and therefore a mother. Representations in painting, drawing, photography, fiber, sculpture, and ceramics reveal bodies in transitional states, stretching themselves, often reaching through time toward other bodies that precede or continue their own material existence. The artists in this exhibition investigate subjects that include the experience of being a mother; our relationship to the Earth; materiality and tactility; abjection and the grotesque; portraiture and self-portraiture; domestic space; familial relationships; cultural identities; and feelings of love, horror, faith, and loss as they relate to maternal bodies. With many references to the landscape—and trees in particular—the images in these artworks allude to the longstanding conceit of nature and the Earth as a mother, as well as how we often envision family lineages as both branches of a tree and roots. Another repeating motif in the exhibition is images of hands, suggesting tactile manipulation and the presence of touch. Connecting these many images and ideas is a critical attention to generation—both as an act of creation and a form of inheritance—with works that reflect on time, family, birth, and making in their myriad incarnations. Linda Riedel: International Dog Shows and the Secrets of 180 ChampionsLinda Riedel, AKC judge and breeder of Ramblewood English Springer Spaniels, joins host Laura Reeves for a free-wheeling conversation about IABCA dog shows and her journey to 180 champions. A few excerpts follow below. On International dog showsI really like that it in this Covid time, (https://www.iabca.com/ (IABCA)) shows have been great for people to get their dogs out, which they haven't been able to do. We used to have all-breed matches that were huge. I can remember in California they’d get up to 2,000 dogs in a match. That's where you’d train your dog. Well that doesn't happen anymore, so these International shows are very good for the beginning person, for people who need to get their dogs trained and out and exposed to all kinds of people and other dogs. So, it works out well. I mean there were people that were at matches all the time. It was like a professional match circuit. We don't have those anymore and it's a great loss. And that's where I see something like this sort of filling in. In terms of getting your dog in the ring, getting yourself in the ring, if you're just learning how to show your dog, you have so many chances. You could be in the ring 6 or 8 times in one day. (Exhibitors) find out we (judges) are humans, just like them, and can carry on a conversation. They get a lot more relaxed and enjoy their day and enjoy their dogs. (Writing and receiving critiques of the dogs) helps people breed better dogs and educate better judging. It's a two way street, both for the exhibitor and the judge. You know too many exhibitors are too terrified with all the time (constraints) and everything else, they say to the judge ‘why did I not win today’ and the judge pops out and says ‘well I like the other dog better.’ That is not a reason. 411...Reidel started in dogs working for the famous http://www.thedogplace.org/BREEDS/Akita/Harrell-Liz-InMemory.asp (Akita Tani) kennel winding up as a teenaged advisor to the stars helping train Akitas purchased by Hollywood’s glitterati. On 50 years of breedingNever kept more than 8 dogs at a time. Nobody’s more critical of my dogs than I am. I'm not taken in by their cuteness. Line breed heavily to set type. Retirement homes -- Time for them to find a couch they can sit for the rest of their lives. Breeder of the most titled dog in the history of the breed and the top performance dog of the year. For many physical retailers, business is driven by maximizing square footage and cramming the windows with bestsellers. For Gorjana and Jason Griffin Reidel, building their jewelry business gorjana was more about feng shui. By embracing things like aesthetics, scent, and an authentic sense of place - not to mention gorgeous jewelry - the couple has created a growing brand that customers come back to again and again.

I Like Your Work: Conversations with Artists, Curators & Collectors
Amy Reidel makes work that I can relate to. She brings the viewer into her world that is filled with color, sparkle, and rainbows but all the while, underlying insidious imagery creeps in to complete the picture. Amy’s painterly vocabulary allows for her sophisticated application of materials to slam up against visions of the figure in various states of psychological distress. Through her work, she shows us the underbelly of care, and the mess of loving another human. Glitter coincides with a face that forces itself to manically grin but leaves us with a foreboding feeling that there is nothing to smile about...or is there? As mothers or primary caregivers, we are told that our experience will be filled with saccharine moments but the emotional turmoil many will face is only whispered about. This dichotomy comes through clearly in Amy’s sculptural, “Mombies”. Mombies are defined as: “A mother who is consumed by raising her children to the point of being sleep-deprived or simply obsessed, and hence zombie-like.” In her ceramic pieces, the mother or caregiver in question, attempts to become three-dimensional but continues to present themselves in two-dimensions with their painted on face gazing out towards the viewer, mouth agape. Reidel’s work lays bare the complicated experience of loving another. To love is to straddle a line between sorrow and joy and she walks this line with precision, balancing the wide-eyed, struggle of her figures with colorful, dazzling, sparkly hope. Amy Reidel is a St. Louis-based artist who has exhibited work nationally since getting her BFA from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and her MFA at The University of Tennessee. She has been awarded residencies at ACRE (Artists' Cooperative Residency and Exhibitions) based out of Chicago, the David and Julia White Artists’ colony in Cd. Colón, Costa Rica and at the Luminary Center for the Arts in St. Louis. Reidel’s artwork has been exhibited at the Contemporary Art Museum-St. Louis, The Sheldon Concert Hall and Art Galleries, Granite City Art and Design District (G-CADD), Lambert International Airport, Flood Plain Gallery, ACRE projects gallery in Chicago, Fluorescent Gallery in Knoxville, and the Amarillo Museum of Art among others. Her work has been showcased through media like Young Space, I Like Your Work podcast, Brenda Magazine (UK), St. Louis Public Radio, the PBS program Living St. Louis, the international publication Daily Serving and the Studio Break podcast. Reidel received a Critical Mass Creative Stimulus award in 2016 and the Regional Arts Commission Artist’s Support Grants in 2014, 2019 and a COVID-19 artist relief grant in 2020. Amy Reidel is an Assistant Professor of Art at Southwestern Illinois College. “Through painting, drawing and sculpture, I abstractly combine imagery to illuminate the bittersweet conditions of motherhood, family and sexuality; topics most people experience but are not encouraged to discuss professionally. The innocuous, inherited patterns of Grandma’s scarves and decorative rugs merge together with darling babies and scared caregivers in an absurd representation of home and love. My work results from a cacophonous use of materials, layering and erasure, which have become my primary language as a progressive mother in the conservative Heartland. Personal and political issues conflate in my work and result in aggressive but candy-colored marks reflecting the dualities of fear and joy, rejection and protection. The saturated spectrum is used as a defense mechanism to make magic of this earthly existence.”-Amy Reidel TAKEAWAYS FROM THIS EPISODE: - Dealing with LGBTQIA issues as an adolescent and teenager through artwork - Being an Ally - Confronting the pressure to present yourself as a “professional” in the artworld - “The Artwork is Not Judging Me” - Being the boss of your work - Taking a break from making work and how we, as the art world, have deemed certain reasons as “honorable” or allowable. - “What are you making Work About if you Aren’t Living Life” - “Mombie” -Working with craft materials -Exploring other media to take the pressure off -How Amy works through her pieces -Embracing autobiographical imagery LINKS: www.amyreidel.com @amy.reidel Instagram https://www.brenda-mag.com/post/on-motherhood-amy-reidel Jered Sprecher http://www.jeredsprecher.com/ Marcia Goldenstein https://marciagoldenstein.com/home.html Jessica Dickinson https://www.jessicadickinson.com/ Rachel Dove http://www.racheldove.com/ Michael Giles https://fieldhat.com/home.html Jim Hodges https://www.gladstonegallery.com/artist/jim-hodges/works Polly Apfelbaum http://www.pollyapfelbaum.com/ I Like Your Work Links: I Like Your Work Podcast Studio Planner Instagram Submit Work Observations on Applying to Juried Shows

Join part 2 in the conversation with Dr. Riedel through the complex history of the early church councils that were responsible for establishing the basic tenets of the Christian faith. The first seven ecumenical councils had to be attended by bishops of Jerusalem, Antioch, Alexandria, Constantinople, and Rome. If we look at the geographical, historical, and linguistic context of those 5 cities we might start to guess about some potential hot spots that could drive a wedge between them. In fact, problems started to surface in the early days. Dr. Reidel explains the heresy of the Filioque and how it led to the split between the Eastern and Western Churches.Click HERE to watch a short video on St. Mark’s cathedral.

“Hell on Earth” premiered on April 2, 2012 (Happy...April Fools?). It was written by Scott Burkhardt and directed by Paul McGuigan. The episode was viewed by 6.03 million viewers, which is again down, this time by .11 million. Oof. Featured Songs? Again, no Bombshell music, unless you count the snippet of the “Arthur Miller Medley” that Brian d’Arcy James sang at the piano, but we did get an original song by Shaiman and Whitman from Heaven on Earth, called “The Higher you Get, the Farther you Fall.” We also get a Times Square cover of “Cheers (Drink to That)” by Rihanna. Everybody seems to be moving on after Bombshell workshop. Karen is picking up serving shifts and booking orange juice commercials. Ivy is back in Heaven on Earth, probably forever. But she is definitely not enjoying it, as she rolls her eyes and marks her way through performances and taking prescription pills on the side. Julia’s husband Frank finds sheet music to a song she wrote about former flame Michael Swift. She admits to her affair but Frank storms out, telling her “sorry doesn’t cut it.” Frank confronts Michael, who tells Frank this isn’t the first time they had had an affair. Frank leaves him punched and lying on the sidewalk in front of New York Theatre Workshop, and walks out on Julia and their son Leo. Out at a Glasshouse Tavern-type doppelganger, the Marilyn cast laments the production’s need to court a star. Jessica leads the charge, stating “Chasing a star is lame. It’s a musical. It’s a new American musical. Why can’t the songs be the star?” Ivy takes it one step further, digging at Karen that “she walks in with the Midwestern moonface and lands everything.” Tom, Julia and Derek discuss stars to replace Ivy in the role of Marilyn, as well as a title for the musical about her. But unknown to Derek, Eileen is also meeting with potential new directors of the Marilyn musical, where she is spotted by New York Post columnist Michael Reidel. Derek fumes when he reads Reidel’s column, but agrees to stay on the project as long as Eileen “finds him a star.” Ellis ends up connecting Eileen with an unseen movie star named Rebecca Duvall. After taking a mysterious prescription at her dressing room station, Ivy takes the Heaven on Earth stage under the influence, falling center stage and getting yelled at by Norbert Leo Butz to “get off the freaking stage.” In what is the official jumping the shark of Smash, Ivy Lynn storming out of the Shubert Theatre in costume, wig and mic into Times Square. When Karen, who just happens to there to drop off Ivy’s misplaced sunglasses, follows her out Ivy lashes out at her, Ivy yells “You’re nothing special. There are thousands of girls just like you, millions of girls just like you.” Karen then follows Ivy into a liquor store, giving her $20 for a bottle of booze and drinking in public on their way into Duffy Square. They then sing an impromptu duet accompanied by a busker on an electronic keyboard, a drummer on five gallon buckets and two guitarists. Tom and Sam end up at an all-night diner until 5am, on what may or may not be a date. But on the bright side, the episode ends with a title for the new Marilyn musical: Bombshell. In Part 2 of Rocky’s interview, Rocky tells us about the many benefits of holding insurance in foreign countries. The advantages of overseas insurance policies are that they are less regulated, offer greater and more unique coverage than what the U.S. government would allow for domestic insurance policies. Other advantages are being able to distribute the payouts to another generation without going through probate and having the extra benefit of guarding against recession or other unforeseeable events in the U.S. that could jeopardize an insurance policy. Rocky explains that some of these insurance policies can become very complex when coupled with international trusts and require the assistance of CPAs, Attorneys and other professionals to create and manage these funds. For questions and to find out more about Rocky, visit https://www.reidellawfirm.com/

Outcomes-based rewards have a place in an overall incentives offering, notes John Riedel, president, Riedel and Associates Consultants, Inc., but despite the growth in these offerings, companies should keep their incentive options open. To maximize effectiveness, programs should include something for all: simple items like gift cards and tee shirts for sign-on, progress-based rewards to move individuals along, and outcomes-based incentives for individuals who take their health seriously. Reidel examines the staying power of extrinsic incentives and suggests eight questions companies should ask themselves to determine whether they've truly constructed a culture of health for the population they serve. John Riedel shared the key strategies in sustaining a health and wellness incentive program and moving toward outcome-based results during "Health and Wellness Incentives: Positioning for Outcome-Based Rewards," a February 4, 2013 webinar, now available for replay.
