Allen kicks off the podcast by listing Kellie's ailments as a precursor to ……Kellie's new ailment! Despite the mockery and her pain, Kellie plows through an explanation and shares her fears about the possible cure. Kellie has admittedly been in quite a funk lately, but Allen breaks the circle of trust and shares her once-in-their-marriage meltdown. To make it up to Allen, Kellie invited him on a lunch date where tripe may or may not have been served. And because people love lists, Allen shares the list of 7 things most successful couples do, and you may be surprised at how many Kellie and Allen measure up. By Alex WilsonWhen I was 17, my parents gave me my dad's 1997 Chevy Silverado. The truck was almost completely made of steel, and their thinking was simple: if Alex gets into an accident, he has a better chance of walking away because of how tough this truck is. They were right – I did get into a wreck, and I walked away from it. I even went to school that day. This gift was meant to protect me, to help me flourish, to get me safely to school and football practice. It was given so I might live an abundant high school life. But I trashed the gift. I didn't honor it – I did donuts, raced my friends, drove without a seatbelt. I failed to honor the gift they had given me.God's law is a lot like that truck. In our ongoing 52-week study through the New City Catechism (by Crossway), we arrive at Question 8: "What is the law of God stated in the Ten Commandments?"The law that God gave to Moses was a gift to His people. Think of it as a vehicle to transport them from Egypt to the promised land, to get them from point A to point B safely so they could flourish and experience the abundance of life that comes from walking in communion with God. But like me with my truck, they saw it as something to be broken.Let's break down the Ten Commandments:The first four commandments focus on our relationship with God:* Have no other gods before me* Do not make an idol for yourself* Do not misuse the name of the Lord your God* Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holyThe remaining six govern our relationships with others: 5. Honor your father and mother 6. Do not murder 7. Do not commit adultery 8. Do not steal 9. Do not give false testimony 10. Do not covetJesus beautifully summarizes these into two commands: Love God and love your neighbor. The first four commandments show us how to love God, while the last six teach us how to love our neighbors. Here's the challenging part: if you break even one of these commandments, you've broken them all. If you've kept them perfectly for 30 years but fail in year 31, you've broken them all. These laws show us how holy God is and how impossible it is for us to keep them perfectly on our own. This is where Christ enters the picture. He takes God's law – this gift – and obeys it completely because He is perfect, the Son of God. He dies to pay the punishment for our law-breaking (death), and rises three days later by the Spirit of God.This means we now live under a new covenant. If you trust in Jesus, you're no longer under the covenant of works (trying to perfectly obey the law to earn salvation) but under the covenant of grace. Jesus did the work for us. Even when we slip up, we remain in right relationship with God because of Christ's perfect obedience. Now we can finally experience the gift of God's law as it was intended. Instead of seeing it as a monster lurking over us, we can view it as the gift it truly is – a guide to abundant life and flourishing.I think back to my reckless driving days. I was searching for happiness in all the wrong places, putting myself in danger, living with anxiety. What if I had stopped and recognized that truck as the gift it was? What if I had shed my entitled attitude and instead spent time caring for it, appreciating it?Here on Kauai where we live, I see local boys with their first trucks taking such incredible care of them – washing them, maintaining them, treating them with respect. There's a joy they have that others miss when they don't treat their vehicles as gifts. Can we approach God's law the same way? Instead of viewing it as a burden, what if we saw it as a gift that shows us the path to abundant life? Under the covenant of grace, God's law isn't a harsh taskmaster but a loving guide, leading us to freedom rather than slavery. If you want to dive deeper into these weekly reflections, subscribe to our Substack where I post detailed outlines of each episode. Shoot us a Text. The end of the year is finally here, and so we're looking back, covering the top 10 best-selling vehicles of 2024. Plus, we talk about a unique $0 down and $0 monthly payment Fiat lease as well as reflect on some of our most memorable moments.Show Notes with links:Hybrid electric-gas cars had a banner year in 2024, achieving record sales. With a shift in buyer demographics, these vehicles bridged the gap for consumers seeking efficiency and practicality without fully committing to electric vehicles.A shift from early adopters to budget-conscious shoppers drove hybrid demand. Many buyers appreciated the lower costs and simpler integration into daily life compared to EVs.Here are 2024's top 10 best-selling vehicles. 10. Chevy Equinox. 9. Honda Civic 8. Nissan Rogue 7. Toyota Camry 6. Toyota Corolla 5. Tesla Model Y (only true EV on the list) 4. Chevy Silverado 1500 3. Honda CR-V 2. Toyota RAV4 1. Ford F-150 (America's best-selling vehicle for 47 years, with 20% of buyers opting for the hybrid version)The top three all have hybrid options that did especially well this year, and about half of all RAV4 and CR-V sales are hybrids, according to Edmunds.“Hybrids this year became an extremely easy default decision for someone who doesn't want to go full electric but wants basically 70% or 80% of benefits” said Ivan Drury of Edmunds.Who says driving electric has to break the bank? A Fiat dealership in Colorado pulled off the seemingly impossible: a lease deal on the 2024 Fiat 500e that truly costs $0 down and $0 a month. The deal covers a 27-month term, 10,000 miles per year, with just $1,300 in state taxes and fees due upfront.Larry H. Miller Chrysler-Dodge-Ram-Fiat Denver moved over 60 cars in three days, using over $15,000 in federal and state incentives, plus factory discounts, to enable this unheard-of lease offer.Colorado's state incentives decrease in 2025, and federal EV credits are under scrutiny, meaning deals like this are less likely in the future.David Gluckman of Car & Driver leased one of the cars, and commented on the dealership's challenges with such a unique agreement: “I was warned, apologetically, that there was a chance I might have to re-sign some of the paperwork because the dealer's computer system didn't know how to handle a lease with no payment… A funny formality: They still had to run a credit check to confirm my ability to (not) pay.”As we close out the year, we look back at some of our most memorable moments. Shoot us a Text.Donald Trump's return to the White House could disrupt the auto industry's EV ambitions. Plus, Elon Musk's advisory role with the new administration and his plans for autonomous tech. And, IKEA opens its first stand-alone restaurant in London.Show Notes with links:Former President Donald Trump has won the 2024 election, and his return could lead to major shifts for the auto industry, especially around electric vehicle (EV) policies, trade, and incentives. Here's what might be in limbo for automakers:EV Regulations: Trump may roll back aggressive EV mandates set under Biden, reducing pressure on automakers to hit strict electrification targets.Tax Credits: Biden-era EV tax credits could be at risk, impacting demand and profitability for manufacturers deeply invested in electric tech.California's Emission Standards: Trump might revoke California's right to set its own emissions standards, affecting states that follow its lead.Trade Policies: Trump may tighten restrictions on Chinese vehicle parts, intending to boost domestic production but likely increasing vehicle costs. The Elon factor: Here's how Musk's involvement could shape auto policies and beyond:Trump has proposed forming a government efficiency committee led by Musk, aiming to cut $2 trillion from the federal budget. Musk has already expressed his interest in reducing government spending by 30%.Musk advocates for a unified federal approval process for autonomous vehicles, reducing state-by-state regulatory inconsistencies. He commented, “If there is a department of government efficiency, I'll try to make that happen.”While Trump is generally less favorable toward EV mandates, analysts speculate that Musk's influence may push for selective pro-EV policies that align with Tesla's interests.Musk, a long-time proponent of U.S.-based manufacturing, may support Trump's trade stance on limiting Chinese parts imports, which could impact supply chains and costs for EV makers.Tesla stocks spiked 15% following the election, underscoring investor optimism over Musk's potential influence in the new administration.General Motors has claimed the number two spot in EV sales in the U.S. for Q3 2024, with 32,000 EVs sold across multiple brands. Ford, however, disputes GM's approach to these numbers.GM's EV lineup includes the Chevy Silverado, Blazer, Equinox EVs, GMC Hummer EV, and Cadillac Lyriq, all on the Ultium platform.GM has sold 370,000 EVs in North America since 2016, with 300,000 of those in the U.S. Tesla remains far ahead, with over 5 million units sold globally since 2008.Ford argues it's still the “No. 2 best-selling EV brand,” claiming GM's figures count all brands together, altering the comparison. From Reddit polls to repeat diners, IKEA's food offerings are beloved, with many customers visiting the store just for the food which is why IKEA's first stand-alone restaurant next to its Hammersmith store in London marks a fresh chapter for the brand, leveraging its famous Swedish Hosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email

The discussion focuses on the importance of excellence and decision-making in both professional and personal contexts, with Carlos exemplifying consistent quality. It highlights the need for action to combat indecision and achieve success, while addressing the challenges of maintaining high standards. Various vehicles, including a Chevy Silverado and Toyota Tacoma, serve as metaphors for decision-making, underscoring the importance of informed choices and clear communication in problem-solving, all within a collaborative framework exemplified by a meeting in Colorado.

Recorded: July 16th 2024 It's Episode #290, and The Boys brought in an incredible guest for a truly momentous pod. Sam Morril is a stand-up comedian, co-host of the "We Might Be Drunk" podcast, and to date, he has released several comedy specials, the most recent being "You've Changed" on Amazon. Sam came and kicked it with The Boys just in time to talk some preseason ball. He is a NYC super fan—the Knicks, the Giants, the Rangers, and the Yankees are all his teams—and he wasn't shy about telling Will and Taylor how he really feels about his New York Giants. After some discussion about football, Sam talks about his journey through comedy, starting at a young age and developing not only his on-stage performances but also his writing ability as a comedian. Sam lifts the curtain on his potential future in screenwriting and shares his favorite noir films with The Boys. After Sam discusses his professional career with Will and Taylor, all three are surprised by a nice little phone call from Shane Gillis. Sam then talks about his experience cameoing in the film Joker, followed by behind-the-scenes onset stories and the aftermath of the film's critical acclaim. In this week's intro... FOOTBALL HAS GOT THE BOYS JACKED! Two mics are broken in the first 4 minutes of the pod. Taylor has to sit in a new seat due to the damage done on the bus. The Boys talk preseason football, the QB play from last weekend, and their expectations for the NFC and AFC divisional champions. Last but not least, it is finally time for the audit of Jack McPherson. Does Jack get the Chevy Silverado? Did he miss any days? Find out on this week's episode of Bussin' with the Boys! Recorded: December 11th 2023 | On this weeks episode, we got all the boys on the bus and it is just a good hang. Will and Taylor start talking about how they aren't the most handy guys out there, which we all knew already. Following that, Taylor and Garrett get into it regarding the College Football Playoff Semifinal between Michigan and Alabama. The two have been bickering ever since the schedule came out and some of that bickering continued on the bus. There might even be a bet in place for the game. Then the guys get into the fantasy league that the entire office is involved in and how the integrity of the league has been ruined because of one decision, you'll have to tune in to learn more about that. The guys get into their good, bad and ugly from the week that was in the NFL. Some of the good is, the Cowboys and Dak Prescott plus JP getting engaged. Some of the ugly was Kadarius Toney lining up offside and Will's daughter pooping in the tub. The boys end the pod talking about when we all found out the truth of Santa. Will and Taylor's kids are soon getting to that age where they might be finding out the truth soon. Of course we had to finish it off the twisted question, the overly direct take and the shittiest moment. A Delta Junction woman finds herself in a precarious legal situation after Alaska State Troopers accused her of attempting to disguise a fatal hit-and-run incident as a collision with a moose. Chelsie Erickson, 32, was arrested on October 17, facing charges of negligent homicide, failure to render aid, and two counts of tampering with evidence. Her mother, Janell Erickson, 60, was also arrested and charged with tampering with evidence. The incident dates back to the night of August 28 when Chelsie Erickson allegedly struck and killed 47-year-old John Emerick, who was walking along the side of the highway in Delta Junction near milepost 1421. Instead of reporting the accident, Erickson is accused of fleeing the scene. The arrest followed an investigation triggered by a tip received by troopers about the hit-and-run. Authorities obtained a search warrant for Erickson's home, leading to the discovery of potential evidence related to the incident. According to reports, one of Erickson's friends informed the police that Chelsie had mentioned hitting a moose on the same night that John Emerick was fatally injured. Investigators attempted to locate the moose in question, as Erickson claimed it had run into the woods following the collision. However, they were unable to locate any such animal. Intriguingly, Erickson never reported the alleged moose collision to the authorities. Police, however, did locate a vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses on the night of Emerick's tragic death. Inside a locked detached garage on Erickson's property, they found a 2014 Chevy Silverado pickup truck. The vehicle had several pieces of its front-end grill removed, and moose hairs were discovered scattered on top of the engine. Notably, there was no fur present on the front of the truck. The investigation also revealed that a moose head hanging in the Erickson's garage appeared to have bald spots, raising suspicions that moose hair had been deliberately collected from the mount and then spread over the truck's engine compartment. This discovery led authorities to conclude that an attempt had been made to create a false narrative of a moose collision. Chelsie Erickson and her mother, Janell Erickson, have both been arrested and incarcerated at the Fairbanks Correctional Center. The case highlights the serious nature of the charges facing Chelsie Erickson, including negligent homicide, failure to render aid, and tampering with evidence, all related to the tragic hit-and-run incident. Tampering with evidence charges were also filed against Janell Erickson, possibly for her alleged involvement in attempting to disguise the true circumstances of the incident. The legal proceedings are expected to unfold in the coming months, shedding further light on the events of that fateful night and the actions taken by the Erickson family in its aftermath. This case underscores the importance of reporting accidents promptly and accurately to authorities, as well as the potential consequences of attempting to conceal the truth. The accused individuals will have their day in court, where the legal system will determine their culpability in this unfortunate incident. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Welcome to another amazing week in Retail Auto as we give a progress report on the strike as well as some uncomfortable moments for Mary Barra and Jim Farley. We also talk about Lithia's largest acquisition to date, as well as Tesla landing the first EV on the leasing Top 10 list. Show Notes with links:“Progress is slow,” and “I don't really want to say we're closer.” was the sentiment communicated by UAW President Shawn Fain on MSNBC's “The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart.”The UAW resumed talks with GM on Sunday, and will do so with Stellantis and Ford on Monday. In a Friday press conference, Fain said “it could be in a day, it could be in a week.”Also over the weekend both GM CEO Mary Barra on CNN and Ford CEO Jim Farley on ABC were asked how they justify their compensation in light of the UAW demands for a pay increase. Both redirected the question and pointed out that the offers that are on the table are historically generous. The largest auto group in the US, Lithia, continues its expansion with its largest acquisition to date. But it's not in the US and it's not just about dealerships, it's also about software. Lithia Motors Inc. intends to purchase Pendragon's dealership and fleet business, which includes 160 retail locations in the U.K., primarily under the Stratstone or Evans Halshaw branding. The deal also includes acquiring Pendragon Vehicle Management, a vehicle fleet management platform with 15,000 to 20,000 vehiclesPinewood Technologies, a cloud based DMS, aims to stand as an independent software entity. With around 30,000 global users, the focus is on leveraging its cloud-based, tech-savvy software. Lithia, holding a 16.7% stake, plans a joint venture to introduce a Dealership Management System (DMS) to North America within the next three to five years.Overall, the Pendragon acquisitions are anticipated to add $4.5 billion in annual revenue to Lithia, making it their most significant purchase to date and bringing annual revenue over $38B. Their goal is $50B by 2025The Tesla Model 3 has become the first electric vehicle ever to enter the top 10 leased models in the U.S. according to a new report by ExperianRanking seventh in Q2, the Model 3 accounted for 1.79% of leased new vehicles, with approximately 25% of the 42,000 new Model 3s retailed during that period being leased, marking a 14-point surge from the previous year.In the second quarter, the top 10 leased vehicles in the U.S. were the Ford F-150 (2.52%), Honda CR-V (2.48%), Nissan Rogue (2.26%), Chevy Silverado 1500 (2.18%), Jeep Grand Cherokee (1.97%), Chevy Equinox (1.82%), Tesla Model 3 (1.79%), Honda Civic (1.7%), Ram 1500 (1.66%), and Jeep Wrangler (1.64%).Recent months have seen a spike in EV leasing, partly due to an expanded array of models qualifying for federal tax incentives when leasedHosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email ASOTU Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/automotivestateoftheunion
