On today's show I interview the Frontman of the Lousiana based Nu metal band, and one of my favorite people, Paul McCoy of 12 Stones!! The band members met in Mandeville, Louisiana, a small city north of New Orleans, and within 15 months were signed to a record deal with Wind-up Records. Lead vocalist Paul McCoy was featured in the Evanescence single "Bring Me to Life", released in 2003, which later went on to win a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance in 2004.[6] Songs from the band have appeared in various films and TV shows. "My Life", from their self-titled album, was featured on the soundtrack of the 2002 film The Scorpion King. "Broken" (also from the self-titled album) served as the official theme song for WWE's WWE Judgment Day pay-per-view in May 2002. "Home" (also from the self-titled album) was the song used for the WWE Desire video for Kurt Angle. "Shadows", from Potter's Field, was used in a trailer for the film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. "Photograph" (also from Potter's Field) appeared on the soundtrack of the 2005 film Elektra. The band also recorded the song "Let Go" exclusively for the Daredevil movie soundtrack. Songs "Running out of Pain" and "Back Up" were used on Cheating Death, Stealing Life – The Eddie Guerrero Story. In November 2009, the band recorded their fourth studio album, with producer David Bendeth. "We Are One", the first single from the new album, was released on April 6.[7][failed verification] The song Premiered on noisecreep on March 29, 2010.[8] "We Are One" was used by WWE as the theme song for the renegade faction formed by the NXT first season graduates known as The Nexus. The song also was used as the opening to each ACC Network telecast of the 2011 ACC men's basketball tournament.[9] The Washington Capitals hockey team also used the song in the 2010–11 NHL season video played at the start of their home games in the Verizon Center.[citation needed] On August 24, 2010, the band announced that they were leaving Wind-Up after nine years, stating "We felt it was time for a change. We have a vision for this band that we feel is best pursued elsewhere."[10] 12 Stones then signed a record deal with Executive Music Group. The band released their new album Beneath the Scars on May 22, 2012, to digital retailers, however it wasn't released to stores until May 29, 2012.[11] Their fifth studio album, Picture Perfect, was released on July 14, 2017.[12] The title track was premiered on Loudwire on June 14, 2017.[13] Smoke and Mirrors, Volume 1, a five-song EP, was released on November 13, 2020 for more info on the band please visit them below INSTAGRAM FACEBOOK WEBISTE PLEASE SHARE AND FOLLOW ON ALL SOCIAL MEDIAS CHRIS JOHNSON - PRODUCER SERGIO POLLOCK - ENDING MUSIC AUSTIN - INTRO SONG TO BE IN THE STREET TACO BAND PLEASE EMAIL AT JOHNNYTACOSPODCAST@GMAIL.COM

In Episode 3 of "Told it Here!" Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin reminisce about one of the most exciting times in Caps history, the birth of the "Rock the Red" era in Washington, which has lived on at Verizon Center ever since. But before they relive the fun times, they look back at the tougher times that led to the drafting of Alex Ovechkin and everything that has happened since. You'll hear stories about the day Jaromir Jagr was traded, why Mel Anglestad was a highlight of the 2003-04 season, and how Bruce Boudreau's arrival ignited the Caps' resurgence. Later, Joe and Craig discuss many of the highlights of that time, including Sergei Fedorov's series-winner against the Rangers. This episode explores the notion of genius and Immanuel Kant's concept of the aesthetic idea. The aesthetic idea is shown to be the distinguishing element that differentiates natural beauty from art beauty. Progressive Rock is then discussed as a genre that self-consciously courts the label of genius and takes seriously the espousal of ideas (aesthetic and otherwise). "Pantagruel's Nativity" and "Black Cat" by Gentle Giant are discussed along with a brief overview of "Supper's Ready" by Genesis. CHARLENE DREW JARVIS, PhD In her long and distinguished career, CHARLENE DREW JARVIS has held positions as a neuroscientist, legislator and university president. She received a BS from Oberlin College (1962), an MS from Howard University (1964), and a PhD in Neuropsychology (1971) from the University of Maryland, all the while balancing the demands of a wife and mother of two active young boys. Dr. Jarvis' educational background led to a career as a neuroscientist at the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, Md. (1971-1978). Her research with co-investigators appeared in scientific publications such as the Annals of Neurology; Neuroscience Abstracts; Brain Research, the Journal of Neurophysiology, and Brain, Behavior and Evolution. Responding to the need to help re-build the economy of Washington, DC after the riots following the death of Martin Luther King, Jr., Councilmember Jarvis ran for public office and was elected 6 times to the Council of the District of Columbia (1979-2000). Her work as Chair of the Committee on Economic Development for more than 20 years was pioneering. The Housing Production Trust Fund, The Washington Convention Center, the Verizon Center, Business Improvement Districts, Tax Increment Financing, and legislative initiatives designed to prevent red-lining by commercial banks stand as important, and collaborative, contributions. Dr. Jarvis was appointed in 1996 as president of Southeastern University, founded by the YMCA in 1879. True to the mission of the YMCA, her goal was to give students both theoretical and practical applications of knowledge. Thirteen years later, in 2009, she orchestrated a unique merger of the University with the USDA Graduate School in Washington, DC. The Honorable Charlene Drew Jarvis was named one of the most powerful women in Washington by "Washingtonian Magazine” in 1989, 1994, and 2007 and by "The Washington Business Journal" in 1985. Jarvis' legacy as the daughter of Dr. Charles R. Drew, the blood bank pioneer, has given her a special perspective as an advocate for science and health education. In her association with the American Red Cross, Dr. Jarvis has traveled to many Red Cross and Bone Marrow sites around the nation to speak about her father's accomplishments and to encourage the participation of minority blood and marrow donors. Among her treasured awards, on 2014 Dr. Jarvis was given an award for her service from the Washington, DC Chapter of the American Red Cross. Dr. Jarvis is the recipient of more than 100 awards for her leadership, including honorary doctorates from Amherst College, George Washington University, Oberlin College, and a Distinguished Alumni Award from Howard University. Charlene Drew Jarvis is valued for her analytical skills, intellectual rigor, probing questions, and pragmatic approach to problem solving. These traits made her advisory contributions much in demand by dozens of major organizations and commissions. Describing herself now as the “working” retired, Dr. Jarvis serves or has served during this period: on the Executive Committee of the Federal City Council, with its Executive Director, former Mayor Anthony Williams; on The Advisory Committee of the Newseum; as Senior Advisor to the Jarvis Company, LLC and Jarvis Commercial Real Estate on the Board of Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio on the Board at Edmund Burke, an Independent School as a Senior Advisor to a charter school with high performing students, KIPP DC; on the Transition Committee of Mayor Muriel Bowser on the board of the University of the District of Columbia until 2024 on the Cross-Sector Task Force on Charter and DC Public Schools led by Deputy Mayor for Education 2017-2019 Co-chair, with American University President Sylvia Burwell, of Mayor Bowser's Our Schools Leadership Committee to make recommendations for the selection of the next Chancellor of the District of Columbia. Bio Herb Miller founded Western Development Company in 1967 and serves as its Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and Principal Stockholder. A graduate in Urban Planning from George Washington University, Mr. Miller's activities at WDC began with the development of six office buildings in Washington, DC from 1967 to 1985. During this time he guided the firm into retail development, taking the lead in developing twenty open-air neighborhood and community centers in eleven states from 1975 to 1987. Herb Miller's on-going interest in his home town led back to Washington and a series of complex mixed-use projects: Georgetown Park, an award winning retail, office and residential project; Washington Harbour, the only privately developed project on the Potomac River; and MarketSquare, two mixed-use buildings with office space, retail space and residential units along Pennsylvania Avenue. Intrigued by the changes sweeping U.S. retail in the mid-1980s. Mr. Miller led WDC to create the Mills Concept – the value oriented super regional mall. Opened in 1985, Potomac Mills in Woodbridge, Va. was the prototype of this concept. By 1987, WDC focused its expertise in expanding the Mills concept to other major metropolitan areas, opening Franklin Mills(Philadelphia) in 1989; Sawgrass Mills (Ft. Lauderdale) in 1990 and Gurnee Mills (Chicago) in 1991. To further expand The Mills concept, Mr. Miller founded The Mills Corporation in 1993, capitalized at $1.3 billion through a NYSE public offering. Mr. Miller retired from The Mills Corporation in 1995 in order to pursue other development opportunities in his hometown of Washington DC. Between 1995 and 1996 Mr. Miller led the Mayor's Interactive Downtown Task Force, a 100-member committee charged with re-vitalizing Washington's central areas. Composed of over 100 key figures from the worlds of government, retail, entertainment, telecommunications, housing advocacy, and recreation, the Task Force identified the development opportunities and economic incentives essential to attract a critical mass of retail, housing, and entertainment to downtown. The Task Force's blue print has resulted in US$ 6.21 billion in private and publicexpenditure including 5,242 new units of housing, 9 million square feet of office space, a new US$ 834 million Convention Center and new Museum of Washington DC within the old Carnegie Library. His involvement with the Downtown Task Force led him to develop Gallery Place, which combined equal portions of retail/entertainment, residential and office space on a site bridging the Verizon Center and Washington's Chinatown when it opened in the Spring of 2004.Herb Miller is actively involved in civic affairs, including his memberships on the Boards of the Third Way and the Chesapeake Crescent, which he co-founded in 2007. I have known Gerardo since the 2013-2014 NBA Season. We were both on "International Row", which was a section in the lower bowl of Verizon Center that was dedicated to International media covering the Wizards. We had a mutual friend early on, Arnaud Gelb, who connected us and then led our group in motivation as we all ended up doing some pretty great NBA player interviews before and after games. I recall a time where Gerardo, Arnaud, and I, spoke with Dirk Nowitzski for a good 10 minutes after the game and it was a fun conversation. We also met our fourth Verizon Center pal, Roscoe Whalen, from an Australian podcast on the way. We became a close group. Happy hours on days that there weren't games. Constant conversation on a Facebook group. Trips to NBA games. NBA All Star Weekends. Phone calls. Texts. But then...our friend and glue guy, Arnaud Gelb died suddenly in the middle of the night at 31 years old. It was crazy. Gerardo, Roscoe, and I were grieving hard. We still talk on our thread but it is definitely more bare without the constant barrage of Gelb-isms on there. But we're all still friends. Roscoe has since left the US to pursue a career in producing news journalism on Australian Broadcast Network. I have pretty much "retired" from being a "fake reporter" and will have 2 kids any day now. Gerardo maintains a DC day job and has now successfully started his own journalism company. Just wonder what Gelb would have been up to?

Several weeks ago, we left the Wizards for dead. Now, they're the NBA's hottest team and are dreaming of a deep playoff run. What's changed? We spoke with J Michael (@JMichaelCSN), the Wizards' best reporter for Comcast Sports Net, to get an insider's look at how Washington turned things around. Topics include: Scott Brooks' impact compared to Randy Wittman, the bridging of the John Wall/Bradley Beal "feud" (if that's what we want to call it), the next steps with the roster, the return of fan enthusiasm at the Verizon Center, and much more. The Washington Wizards wore all black to Tuesday night's game against the Boston Celtics in preparation for a Celtics funeral as the two teams have had some more than spirited games from this season and last – including a January 11 Celtics win in which Jae Crowder and John Wall exchanged pleasantries at the end of the game. Whether it was the attire or the contempt towards the Celtics stemming from that game, something clicked for the Wizards, as they netted a season-high 123 points in a 123-108 victory over Boston Tuesday night at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C.

"I'm waiting, Andy . . .for the day in a few years not too long when my grandchildren and I will jump on a ferry in Georgetown take it down to the stadium, and before we go into the stadium, on a saturday afternoon game, we're going to change into our bathing suits, dive into the Anacostia, swim and have lunch that's what I'm looking forward to." ~Mark Tuohey Ernie Baur, Wendy Rieger, Mark Tuohey and Lucille Baur Mark Tuohey - a name not well known to the average citizen of Our Town, but he is a key player in the law of some of the most visible trials in local politics over the past 30 years and is one of the people responsible for bringing baseball back to Washington. You’ve probably seen Mark Tuohey sitting in the second row in box seats at the Nats games, in the "Halls of Justice" for some of the city’s more interesting cases or sitting next to the Mayor of our Nation’s Capital, he’s the venable Mark Tuohey and he’s Andy’s guest on Our Town. Born in Rochester, NY, the home of America’s most recognizable brands like Kodak, Xerox and Wegman’s, Mark Tuohey is the son of an FBI agent. He attended Bonaventure and went to Fordham University Law School. In talking to Andy O during this interview, he shared some incredible stories about growing up in upper state New York, sitting next to America’s most famous coach Vince Lombardi and prosecuting such cases as the Columbus Day Bombing Case, White Water, Enron and representing Congressman Bob Ney in the Jack Abramoff Indian lobbying scandal. He’s been referred to as one of Washington's "go-to" white collar defense attorneys. Andy asked Mark Tuohey about current projects he’s working on for Our Town in the Mayor’s office. Mark shared a few thoughtful ideas about RFK stadium - as a great location for the Washington Redskins to return to Washington, bringing to mind the fact that RFK is the very best place to serve the tri-state area. Other places like Sterling or FedExpress Field don’t satisfy the criteria as well as RFK has done. Andy and Mark both agreed that rebuilding the RFK complex is a fantastic idea. The old St. Elizabeth’s site is now going to be the home court facility of the Washington Mystic’s and a practice facility for the Wizards. The soccer stadium is also in the works for completion in the next couple of years. Once completed, Tuohey suggests that the city will see the improvement and development of the community just like the Lerners and the Pollins did with the Nationals' Stadium and the Verizon Center, which will also rejuvenate the Anacostia area in and around the Southeast and Southwest waterfront. Mark gives most of the credit to Mayor Tony Williams who was committed to seeing an area of the city transform. Most recently Mark Tuohey talked to Andy about his decision not to pursue his run for DC Attorney General but dropped out of the race to endorse his friend Karl Racine who he felt was a better fit for the position. Shortly after that he was hired by newly elected Muriel Bowser as her General Counsel. Andy and Mark turned to personal matters acknowledging that Mark has been married to his wife Marty for close to 50 years and they have three boys who have started a foundation using sports to bring young folks between the ages of 8 and 18 together using the notion that if you learn to play together you can live together. It’s a program that is now all over the world in Israel, South Africa, Northern Ireland and on the West Bank and Cyprus. He’s very proud of his boys. We hope you have enjoyed this all new episode of Our Town with Andy Ockershausen and Mark Tuohey. Irene Pollin, a major contributor to the growth of Washington DC metro, is Andy O’s special guest on this all new episode of Our Town podcast. Irene Pollin has recently released her memoirs, “Irene & Abe: An Unexpected Life”. Her book reveals the ins and outs of Irene’s life with her husband and business partner Abe Pollin. Irene now shares her memories with host Andy Ockershausen in this episode of Our Town. Irene Pollin and Abe Pollin were introduced by Irene's Aunt Fanny who happened to be married to Uncle Dan of the Pollin family. Irene was 17 and living in St. Louis with her family. Abe,18, was living on the East Coast. After they met, Abe wooed Irene long distance – writing one letter after another. Irene recalls visiting his family in Washington DC in 1941 at their beautiful home off of 16th Street, NW. Irene and Abe dated more than a few years. Eventually, Abe not only successfully convinced Irene to move to Washington DC to be with him, but he also convinced her entire family to move with her. The two finally married in 1945 after the war. Most know that Abe and Irene Pollin literally built Washington DC. Abe’s Dad was in the construction business through the 30s into the mid 40s. He owned an extremely profitable plumbing and heating business (during the Depression) and that made construction a natural path for Abe and Irene to follow. They built houses and apartments and then years later they found themselves building massive complexes such as the Capital Centre and the Verizon Center. The Pollins had a tremendous influence on Our Town and found it an exciting time of growth for Washington, DC. Before Irene and Abe built the Capital Centre they were owners of the Baltimore Bullets. Irene tells Andy they never had any intention of owning a sports team but buying the Baltimore Bullets was a way to level out their lives. Prior to, they had suffered the loss of their daughter, and then Irene’s parents, so buying and owning the team turned out to be a good diversion. Listen in as, Irene vividly describes the intense feeling the first time they entered the Civic Center knowing that they were the owners. Baltimore was not a basketball town, and their efforts to grow their team didn’t work. After 9 or 10 years, when the Pollins decided to leave, Baltimore did nothing to make them stay. Abe and Irene were builders so they decided to build an arena for their team, and that’s when the Captial Centre came into being in Landover, Maryland. The Baltimore Bullets became the Washington Bullets. Building the Capital Center changed Our Town in major ways. Many big events that couldn’t come to Our Town before, could happen now. One of the most memorable events for Irene was one of Ronald Reagan’s inauguration celebrations. Frank Sinatra was on the bill for that evening, and Irene shares a story of what it took to meet him. Let’s just say she was less than amused. Andy and Irene discuss the travels Irene writes about throughout her book. The Pollins traveled both with their sports teams, and for fun during off season. Together Abe and Irene enjoyed extraordinary trips to Africa, China and the Philippines. On their trip to the Philippines they were guests of Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos. Irene laughs as she tells Andy about a wardrobe malfunction and how Wes Unseld held her dress together in the back as she got off the plane in Manila to a crowd of people. In 1997, with a commitment from then Mayor Marion Barry, the Pollins decided to move their teams – the Washington Bullets and Washington Capitols – to inside the city limits of DC. At that time Pollins also decided to change the name of the Washington Bullets to the Washington Wizards. Andy reminds us that both the Capital Centre and the VerizonCenter were built with the Pollins’ own money, they weren’t looking for handouts and incentives from the government. The VerizonCenter, previously known as the MCI Center,
