Be sure to come see us in the Ivoclar (https://www.ivoclar.com/en_li) Ballroom during LMT Lab Day Chicago 2024 (https://lmtmag.com/lmtlabday). Register today! It's always good, as technicians, to get a clinical perspective of all the work we do. Let's be honest, without the clinical side.... We wouldn't have work. But getting to talk to a clinician that LOVES and APPRECIATES lab work is even better. Dr. Wendy Clark is an Associate Professor of Prosthodontics at UNC Adams School of Dentistry (https://dentistry.unc.edu/). You would think since she is a professor, she would only teach analog ways. This is so not true. Dr. Clark is a fan of the digital denture workflow and teaches it to her students right along with the analog method. Dr. Clark talks about her history with digital dentures, how the workflow has improved over the years, what causes them to succeed, and what causes them to fail. If you don't think dentists are coming out of school wanting digital dentures.... think again. The demand is there and only growing. Go see Dr. Wendy Clark Friday February 23 from 2:30pm - 3:30pm at Lab Day Chicago in Roosevelt 3B · East Tower, Concourse (Bronze) Level (https://lmtmag.com/seminars/treatment-tree-workflow-simple-predictable-digital-denture-workflows) Also see Dr. Clark at IDT Live Digital Dentistry Symposium April 12 & 13, 2004 in Indianapolis! Lots of change has marked the last two years at Dentsu. A reevaluation of operations in 2022 kicked off a restructuring at the Japanese parent company that saw it eliminate the role of the international chief executive, then held by Wendy Clark, the departure of several other executives, including former U.S. CEO Paulo Fogaca and former global chief creative officer Fred Lavron, and the dissolution of creative agencies DentsuMB, 360i and Isobar. Since then, the network has brought together its two subsidiaries, Dentsu International and Dentsu Japan, as one operation. Chief executive and president of Dentsu Group, Hiroshi Igarashi, has taken direct control of all four of Dentsu's regions globally. And the creative shops that previously operated individually have come together under one flag: Dentsu Creative. Instrumental to the shift is Dentsu Creative U.S. CEO Abbey Klaassen, who stepped into her current role in November 2023, transitioning from president of New York. Before her appointment, she helped to build Dentsu Creative, which launched in 2022. Now, she is tasked with leading creative talent and direction in the U.S. as part of Dentsu Creative's global and Americas executive leadership teams. In this episode, Klaassen chats about her transition to U.S. CEO, her vision for Dentsu Creative in 2024 and what areas she is particularly focused on building. Dentures Need Suction but They Don't Have to SuckEpisode #504 with Dr. Wendy ClarkDentures get lost and broken — and that sucks. But your duplication process doesn't have to! And to convince you that dentures can be fun, Kirk Behrendt brings back Dr. Wendy Clark, an expert prosthodontist from UNC-Chapel Hill, to share what dentists get wrong and the advancements that have been made in the digital space. It takes you to the next level.” (4:58—5:04)“A lot of people don't like dentures, which I've never understood. But I always like to get in the psyche. And I think it's because they're not very predictable. I tell my students you can do every single step correctly, every single step perfectly, and then it goes through processing, and there's an error. And that insertion appointment, your denture doesn't fit. And in practice, that's no fun. When you're a dental student and it takes you like 18 appointments to make a denture, and then you don't get to insert it at that appointment, it's the worst sinking feeling.” (6:33—7:04)“How can we make [dentures] more predictable? And digital dentistry is why it's there, so you can get that predictable fit, support, stability, and retention, that suction. But dentures don't have to suck. They can be fun.” (7:07—7:19)“Digital dentures have gotten such a bad rap . . . The first lecture I did on digital dentures was actually 2013, so I hope I'm starting to learn my stuff. And from that first lecture I did in 2013 to the last lecture I did last week, I always get the question of, ‘I don't have a scanner. I can't do this workflow. How can I do this workflow?' And the great thing is, you don't have to have a digital scanner. You can jump into the workflow by digitizing your impressions.” (8:52—9:30)“By now, most full-service laboratories will have a benchtop scanner of some...

That is exactly what Dr. Wendy Clark had to do. Heading up the Pre-doctoral Removable Prosthodontics at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill (https://dentistry.unc.edu/), Dr. Clark knew she needed something that the school could afford and would allow for remote lessons. She leaned on her longtime friend and lab technician, Craig Holland. Craig is no stranger to odd and unusual cases, but during the shutdown, Craig found the time from his usual work at 3 Point Dental Studio (https://www.3pointdentalstudio.com/) to self-teach himself coding. Along with his son, CJ Holland, the two used the Blender software and modified it to give Dr. Clark what she needed. This free and open software called Excalibur (https://youtu.be/iOkZZA8MCW8) can do models, custom trays, dies, flippers, nightguards, crown and bridges, and much more. Check out the Excalibur Software! (https://www.3pointx.com/) The fastest growing product at Gro3X (https://www.gro3x.com/) are the Gro3X Aligners. And they want to further leverage these synergies. Their aligners are used as a pre-treatment to a larger restorative esthetic case, to widen gaps prior to placing implants, to close a diastema, ease crowding, and simply enhance your patient's smiles. Even for your Essix retainer needs your Gro3X aligner certified lab can help. He is also the host of the popular web series "Birds of North America," which can be found on Topic.com’s YouTube channel and on Facebook. Jason tells Wendy about his experiences growing up in public housing, how he became interested in birds and nature, and about his video series. In this episode of OTWTB, host Dawn Hewitt interviews author, artist, and naturalist Julie Zickefoose. As a wildlife rehabilitator, Julie often takes in orphaned and injured birds to nurse back to health. One such charge was a sick and starved baby blue jay, a palm-sized bundle of gray-blue fluff that she named "Jemima." Julie fell hard for this engaging, feisty, and funny jay, a creative muse and source of strength through the author's own heartbreaking changes. She captures these experiences in her gorgeously illustrated new book, "Saving Jemima: Life and Love with a Hard-Luck Jay."

Our guest on the October 18th Conference Call is Wendy Clark. The topic is "Revitalizing Durham." We're pleased to have Wendy Clark with us as our guest for this edition of Businesses Doing Good. Wendy Clark is a dedicated entrepreneur who started her first business at the age of 20 with less than $100. Almost twenty-five years later, that business—Carpe Diem Cleaning—is still thriving, with 35+ employees serving 500 clients to bring in over $1 million in annual revenue. Carpe Diem is now the largest locally-owned residential cleaning service in the Triangle area. Wendy believes in the potential for businesses to create equitable solutions for issues in the community and raise the quality of life for everyone. Through her management of Carpe Diem as well as her role as Vice President of DeWhit Facility Services—a commercial cleaning service with close to 100 employees—Wendy has proven that a community-focused mindset is not limited to small businesses. This outlook inspired Wendy to purchase the historic John O’Daniel Exchange building in Northeast Central Durham in 2007. She transformed the blighted warehouse into a beautiful and affordable community-oriented space that is now home to the offices of several businesses and non-profits. In 2017 Wendy invested in remodeling the Exchange building’s event space into a charming venue managed under her latest venture, The Wedding Exchange. As Wendy continues her journey, her focus is on fostering her employees' growth to strengthen the success of her businesses. She is currently developing a training curriculum designed to help leaders achieve their full potential by unlocking the skillsets of prioritization and communication. “The keys to my success have truly been proactive goal setting and my strategies for decision making. At its heart, goal setting is really about discovering who we were created to be. Each and every one of us was brought into this world to express something unique, and goal setting enables us to unlock those works which we were created to do. I am grateful to continue to be a positive part of the thriving entrepreneurial community in Durham.”

The "Fortune On Stage Presents: The Most Powerful Women" podcast series features inspiring and practical advice from the world’s most preeminent women leaders.
On this week's #MediaSnack we review news that P&G have hired a new global media director, pinching the impressive Gerry D’Angelo from Mondelez to lead their global $7.2bn media operations. Media is a massive business driver for P&G, it accounts for over 10% of their total global sales, so they need it to work hard. As media gets more complicated and agency relationships get fragmented and more delicate, it requires strong visionary leadership and Gerry is the right guy for P&G. Interesting timing as P&G recently moved their US business into Omnicom “startup” Hearts & Science. Maybe coincidental timing Hearts & Science have announced the launch of a UK agency at the same time that P&G are “reviewing their UK media agency requirements”. Lets see.... ID Comms announce the launch of a Global Survey looking into Media Training, something which the ANA highlighted this year as a big gap on the client side, they advised brands need to commit to a "media education". You can contribute to the survey here Finally, more focus on Hearts & Science as we discuss the ‘zero-margin’ deal apparently offered by Omnicom to land the US McDonald’s creative and media duties. We consider some of the implications of these kinds of deals, where they agency assumes a big commercial risk on the client's business performance. It has been reported that the agreement requires Omnicom to be accountable for their profit margin derived solely by McDonald’s business KPIs. A nice idea on paper, it is a sure-fire way to make sure your agency resources are laser-aligned with your business objectives, but it requires deep faith and trust on both the client and agency sides, who both have to be equally motivated by the same goals and have to be comfortable they can equally influence the business outcomes. It is somewhat of a gamble, but a good innovation if successful. Overseeing from the agency is Wendy Clark an ex Coca Cola executive who will be very familiar with value based payment models
