Slovenia's most awesomely audacious, genre defying metal pioneers Within Destruction will release their new album ‘Animetal', on April 11th, 2025, via Sumerian Records. ‘Genre-defying' – those are the words every fan of Within Destruction should be well aware of, especially those that have been there since the beginning. You simply cannot put this band in a box, and shouldn't want to, as their creativity comes from their freedom to do what they want. The album is heavily inspired by anime both lyrically and sonically, with a heavy focus on some of the plots and protagonists within the genre. The album plays out like a dystopian neon-lit fever dream, weaving more melody into their sound than ever before while retaining a firm grasp on the spine-tingling metallic aggression that put them on the map in the first place. In this interview, we spoke to guitarist Howard Fang about the new album, going into detail about the creative process and the experimentation that has led them to this point in time. By Erin EddySlovenian deathcore / slam band Within Destruction have just unleashed their newest album Lotus,and she's a monster. Showcasing a new side to the band that reveals their genre-blending bad-assery, guitarist Howard Fang was keen to share with me how proud they are with this record.“The band is super stoked about it and it's where we want to be; we've wanted to be here for a longtime.”Branching out from the pathway forged by its contemporary predecessor Yokai, Lotus see's the bandimplementing clean vocals for the first time. After three previous well received albums – Void, Deathwish and Yōkai – Slovenian aggressive metal outfit Within Destruction have now begun their next music cycle with the release of their new single Nightmare.Not only that, but the band have also announced their debut Australian tour later this month and are champing at the bit to bring their style of metal to audiences Down Under.Vocalist Luka Vezzosi joined HEAVY to talk about the new music and tour."It took us a really long time to record it,” he outlined. “We went through a whole production thing with our producer, so we... if you compare it to previous songs and albums that we did it took us way more time to glue the pieces together and make sure everything fits together. Working with a producer really took everything to the next level. It took more time, but it was well worth it because we think we were finally able to make the songs sound the way that we want them to sound. We are super proud of what we were able to put out."In the full interview, Luka talks more about the new track, how it continues down the path set by previous album Yokai, the new album and what to expect, the Australian tour and what the band are hoping Aussie audiences will be like. Endlich wieder Indoor Livemusik. Wir waren bei Knorkator in Magdeburg und berichten von der meisten Band der Welt und dem neuen Erscheinungsbild der Factory. Außerdem geben wir einen Ausblick auf kommende Konzert-Highlights. Im Biertest probieren wir, ob eines der Biere des bekanntesten Metal Festivals der Welt was kann oder nur der Name Wacken groß ist? In dem Zusammenhang reden wir auch über die deutsche Kneipenmentalität, denn der schönste Platz ist doch immer noch am Tresen. Bei den Reviews beschäftigen wir uns neben “Kin” von Whitechapel mit dem neuen Werk von 1914 “Where Fear And Weapons Meet”. Woraus sich eine Diskussion ergibt, über Krieg im Metal und welches Genre diesen am besten bzw. passendsten vertont. Zum Abschluss gibt es noch Anspieltipps und amüsante Metallica Wortspiele.
