Welcome back to the Front Seat Life podcast, I am Jessica Butts your host. We are diving into Part Two of my Healing the Hustle framework and my upcoming book. I've written about 70% of the book and today we are moving into “Understanding Your Hustle.” And today I'm going to read to you from the book and add in a few explanations and stories too. Including the one about how I got my tattoo! It's funny, when I was a therapist and now I am again, but when I was a therapist, I complained there were too many rules keeping me from being able to do the work I wanted to do. However, there was this ethical and legal boundary that kept my work at work and made boundaries easier. When I became a coach that boundary disappeared, and it was a problem I created. And it was all based on my worth, or lack thereof. See, part of my hustle was people pleasing. And I'm guessing yours is as well. Women are natural caretakers due to both nature and nurture. It runs in our DNA. We over-give because we feel bad or that we aren't doing enough, especially if they are giving us money to be their coach. When I was on a vacation, like the one I took to Maui a few years ago, I was still answering Facebook or Instagram DMs, checking my email, even though I had put my ‘out of office' on and even had a wonderful assistant covering me. I was constantly thinking about my clients, my team, my work. There's also another big reason why I, and our type do this…We get validation from being busy and feeling needed. And I have done so much more work on this since I've written this section in my book and with this episode I share some insights that might also resonate with you!Enjoy this first installment of the new mini-series about Part 2 of Healing the Hustle! Welcome back to the Front Seat Life podcast, I am Jessica Butts your host. I'm back on Maui and I could not be happier. We're back for the third episode of a mini-series I've renamed How We Got Here and this is the Our Need to “Do” is a Trauma Response episode. We have been talking about how we all got here, how we got to this place of hustling, your journey, my journey, sharing that, and giving you some tools. Our New World, which hit home with a lot of people. I heard from a lot of people about my saying, connection before capitalism, that seemed to really hit home with people. And today is this Our Need to Do. Our need, specifically as women, and that this is our identity. This is a badge of honor. This somehow makes us better. And I'm here to tell you that I'm going through this as well. So, I've been talking about nature and nurture and how our personality type absolutely plays a part in this. The nurture piece is so big, and this is absolutely 1000000% our family of origin. And there's so many of us that are acting out. We are trying to prove ourselves to people, the world, and society. And then there's often a trauma response to our family of origin. And societal norms. These are two very powerful forces.Enjoy this third installment of the new mini-series within the Healing the Hustle Series! And remember, I always love hearing from my listeners. Welcome back everybody to the Front Seat Life podcast, I am Jessica Butts your host. We're back for the second episode of a mini-series I've renamed How We Got Here and this is the Our New World episode. And this is all within the Healing Our Hustle focus for the podcast. This is all about how we got to this crazy hustle, hustle world and today we're going to talk about that new world we find ourselves in.The last 30 years have completely changed our existence. I mean, I remember like in high school, college even, and when I started my first job out of college, all we did was work. We didn't have computers. There was no internet. We didn't do any of this stuff. And so, within 30 years, our lives have completely changed, completely changed. With technology and phones, and obviously social media, all of it, the “how we got here” is just massive. This must be addressed. We've got to acknowledge the fact that we are now in hustle culture.Absolutely because of this new world we live in. I was looking at my book earlier and all the things I had written down about how people can contact us. Back in the day, people called us on the telephone connected to our houses. We had the cool phones with the super, super, super long cord so that we could go into the bathroom and have a private conversation and have our parents not hear us. We used to do everything I R L, in real life. We had to actually see people. So anyway, you need to listen to this episode. I just find this fascinating and creates a great sense of awareness. Please, enjoy this second installment of the new mini-series within the Healing the Hustle Series! And remember, I always love hearing from my listeners. Feel free to reach out to me and of course I would love, love, love a review on iTunes, it helps others find us. Welcome back everybody to the Front Seat Life podcast. I am Jessica Butts and thank you for all the love about the hundredth episode. It's pretty amazing to have a hundred episodes. I mean, do I have that much to say? I guess I do! I really appreciate the comments and the reviews, and the love and we are just going to keep this party going. And we're going to get back on track today Healing the Hustle. So, today we are going to start with the first section of my new book which is answering the questions, “How did we get here? And why can't I just be happy?” And this is broken into basically three main things. The first is looking at your journey, how you got to where you are now. Like me sharing my journey of getting to where I am, both personally and physically here on Maui. Then we look at our new world, this crazy unbelievable new world we live in. And finally, it's good to reflect on our obsessive need to "do." We live in a capitalist society and a culture that puts a lot of value on “the more you do the better.”How can we not always be going, going, going? This need to “do” is some sort of badge of honor. It's a bunch of BS, quite honestly, but we've all bought into it, that we need more, we need to buy more. We're just spending our money like crazy people and we're not saving. And so, we always need a better job and to be making more money. We've always got to be hustling to do the next thing, because we've literally created this life, but it's also innate in us.Okay, enjoy this first installment of the new mini-series within the Healing the Hustle Series! Welcome back everybody. This is the Front Seat Life podcast, and I am Jessica Butts bringing you my 100th episode! It's kind of amazing. I've paused, taken some time off, come back with Healing the Hustle, but today we get to celebrate! I believe in celebrations and that we should celebrate our life and business wins. And I'm celebrating two major wins this week, my 100th episode and I got approved trademark for Front Seat Life! So, of course my 100th episode is going to be about personality type. And dialing it up, not dialing it down. Be more of who we are, not suppressing it or oppressing it. Not being vanilla in any way, shape, or form. It's hard for us to do, because we naturally focus on the stuff we suck at and think we need to get better at that, to try to please everyone. I explain some of the traps we can fall into and the mistakes we make. But our greatest gift or path in life is to become more of who we are. We are not meant to be in a zone of competence, but a zone of genius. So, dial it up!And remember, I always love hearing from my listeners. Feel free to reach out to me via email and of course I would love, love, love a review on iTunes, it helps others find us. Welcome back everybody. This is the Front Seat Life podcast, and I am Jessica Butts bringing you another episode in the Healing the Hustle series. I know it's confusing, but it's what I'm doing at the moment. Today's episode is a bit of a mess.I'm talking about how to show up when you are not okay. Because part of our hustle is absolutely people pleasing. Absolutely pretending, like everything's fine. And I'm not okay today. The cons of doing this in real time, in real life, as I've promised to be doing, is that sh*t happens, but the show must go on. I got kicked in the gut and I do believe that I really, really struggled with whether I do the podcast, or I just not do it?That was option A, just skip a week. Option B, which is not really an option for me was to show up and be fake. To show up and pretend like I don't have super wonky energy. And that is part of, again, the hustling that we do. This is part of the everything's fine culture. It's part of the culture that I've calling BS on for 11 years probably. This is just not healthy. It's not healthy to pretend like everything's fine. It's not healthy for us or for our relationships to show up in an inauthentic way and from our backseats. The backseat is when we're doing too many things that we suck at, or someone breaks our heart… So, option C was to show up, record the podcast, be true to my commitment, and be authentic. Please listen and I'll explain what is going on and hopefully what I share will help you if you find yourself in a similar situation, which does seem to happen to us all from time to time. And remember, I always love hearing from my listeners. Feel free to reach out to me via email and of course I would love, love, love a review on iTunes, it helps others find us. I am back with Part 2 of my birthday episode! If you've been following along, I started sharing my five favorite personal development tools in the last episode, but due to my love of sharing, I couldn't get them all into one episode, brevity is not my thing ha! So, I'm back this week to finish it off with the final two pieces of the puzzle. If you are catching Part 2 and missed Part 1, you may want to go back to catch up. Part 1 was about personality type, obviously, codependency, and attachment. Today for Part 2 I am breaking down the five Love Languages from the amazing book by Gary Chapman. I unpack the five different Love Languages with examples from myself and others and explain why this is a wonderful tool in helping decode what makes your spouse, children, siblings, parents, and anyone close to you feel most loved. Then I share one of the best decision-making tools that I've ever used, Core Values. There are 38 different Core Values (I think) and I have six that are important to me, and that help guide me. I think of Core Values as a bubble, and they surround me and keep me protected from things that are not going to be in alignment with my core values. You can get a list to help you uncover your Core Values over at my site, link below.I always love hearing from my listeners! I am very excited about today's episode for a couple of reasons. One, it's my birthday! I know as we get older, it shouldn't be such a big deal, but I'll be 49. I've heard people say that when you get past 35, you just continue to feel 35. I absolutely feel that way. I don't necessarily look like I'm 35 anymore, but I absolutely feel that way. So, I have no idea how I got to be 49 years old, I'm way too immature! I'm just a very playful soul and playful person. As I have divulged in previous episodes, this Healing the Hustle series is very in the moment real. I am not recording weeks and weeks out. I am literally recording this two days before my birthday, on July 5th, and I've been thinking about this episode a lot. It's going to divert a bit from the Healing the Hustle content, because I was having a conversation recently with somebody in my life. And we were talking about how well we know ourselves. My answer is probably an A- minus, there's always room for improvement, I don't believe we're an A+ plus at anything.I will be doing personal development and self-improvement for sure until the day I die. I just always believe in forward momentum and thinking into the future and being the best version of ourselves. So that will always be happening. Today's episode I'm covering my five favorite personal development tools as a therapist and as just somebody who is adamantly for personal development and for self-improvement. Well, at least this is Part 1 because I love this so much, I couldn't squeeze it into just one episode. In fact, each of these tools could be an entire episode on their own, or even more.I could have done 10. I could have done three, but five came to my mind very easily. So, with today's episode, I want you to be thinking about… How well do you know yourself?I would love to hear from you. Feel free to reach out to me via email and of course would love a review on iTunes and don't forget to subscribe and follow for future episodes. For more about Jessica and additional episodes, visit https://jessicabutts.com/Follow Jessica on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jessicabuttsma/Front Seat Life Podcasthttps://businessinnovatorsradio.com/front-seat-life-podcast/Source: https://businessinnovatorsradio.com/97-my-5-favorite-personal-development-tools-part-1-healing-the-hustle
Welcome back everybody to the Healing the Hustle series on the Front Seat Life podcast. I'm delighted that you're back, we're on episode four. I really have no idea how many episodes there are going to be in this series, I'm just going to keep it rolling.I do love when the universe continues to give feedback, if you will, that the more that I talk about this, the more that I go back to my roots of personality type and my therapy roots, and really connecting with people and not talking at people again, the universe just continues to reward that with more ideal clients. The world is eager and excited to start learning about their personality type again. And I'm loving that people are reaching out and they're engaging, and they want me to come in and speak to their organization or their women's group or their team. Now, I know you are dying to know about some of the stuff that I'm going to talk about today. Today's episode is “I Made a Mistake.” I made a mistake and I'm assuming, everybody's thinking, oh God, she thinks she made a mistake by moving to Maui. That is not what this episode is about. I did not make a mistake moving here, but I have made a mistake.I'm not going to spoil it here, you are going to have to listen to the episode to find out! And you should listen to the end, go all the way through this episode. There is some good sh*t. I get on a soapbox at the end. I think the entire episode is wonderful and I hope you learn a lot about why I made a mistake.I would love to hear from you. Feel free to reach out to me via email and of course would love a review on iTunes and don't forget to subscribe and follow for future episodes. For more about Jessica and additional episodes, visit https://jessicabutts.com/Follow Jessica on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jessicabuttsma/Front Seat Life Podcasthttps://businessinnovatorsradio.com/front-seat-life-podcast/Source: https://businessinnovatorsradio.com/96-i-made-a-mistake-healing-the-hustle
Welcome back everybody to the Healing the Hustle series on the Front Seat Life podcast. Today is yet another doozy. I was just going to name this episode “overthinking,” but then I realized it's not that for us, for “J” women, for us controlling, domineering, bossy, overthinking women. Hence the name of this episode. This is a fun project because I get to be very observant. I am an extremely observant person. It's one of my favorite things to do. It's just sit and people watch. And it's absolutely why I love being a therapist. And with this episode I'm sharing some observations, some stories about overthinking and trying to control the moment or the experience. I've been going through some big changes with my move to Maui and have caught myself trying to control things that are outside of my control, and noticing times when I could overthink things. Hopefully you can relate to these, I have a feeling these might resonate with many of you.I am enjoying putting these episodes together for you! And I would love to hear from you. Welcome back everybody. I am very excited about this episode. I'll be honest, I'm a tiny bit nervous about this because I'm going to be sharing some really, really, vulnerable stuff. And as I promised, I would super duper, duper keep it real. So here we go….I wanted to remind you again, I feel like I almost need to do this every episode, the reminder of the whole entire concept of healing the hustle is to cut out things outside of ourselves that are creating chaos. The “hustle journey” I'm sharing is that I want to be talking with you, not at you.To me is just simple, but it's this new mindset of intentionally dating myself. Sitting in my own company, I am intentionally taking myself out on a gorgeous date. I am intentionally putting on a beautiful dress and putting on some makeup and getting myself cute. And I am going to heal, to repair this hole in the bottom of my bucket, because nothing outside of myself, no other person, no other man, no friend, nothing outside is going to heal me but myself so that I can be absolutely the most, whole version of myself.I am beyond excited to be back! And I would love to hear from you. Welcome back and thank you so much for being here! It has been many months since I have been able to produce any new content and the return of the podcast today addresses why. Many of you have likely been feeling the same.As many of you may know I have been trying to finish my third book, Healing the Hustle, for a little of a year now, it is about 70% done, yet it has stalled since I moved to Maui 2 1/2 months ago and I finally realized why….It is because the journey/story is really just now unfolding! I am in the middle of it!!!!!So, I have decided to share with you all via my podcast in the most vulnerable, authentic and genuine way possible and talk with you, not at you as I go on this crazy journey of Healing my own Hustle. In this first episode back, I address:– The toxic coaching culture,– My reptilian brain response AKA Trauma Response (and explain yours as well) based on your personality type,– Why I am coming back to share this crazy journey……and much more to hopefully inspire you to look at some of your own Hustle behavior and what to do about it.I am beyond excited to be back!!!! And I can't wait to start a dialogue with you about your experiences as well. I would love to hear from you. Welcome back to the Front Seat Life podcast, and our new series the Front Seat 16! I am your host Jessica Butts, and today's episode is all about the ESFJ. I just got done recording the episode with Katie Christiansen and we are doing this episode right after the Sarah Dean episode, which is perfect because Katie is actually a Sara's assistant and we talk so much about how she is the ideal integrator to the ENFJ visionary. And the episode is so packed, full of absolutely amazing information. We did her family type. We talked about the integrator and the visionary, and expectations and how they become a martyr. It is an incredible, incredible episode. It might be my favorite of the series so far.Overall ESFJ's are the Caregiver. They are generous and giving and organized and detailed, their archetype is the Police. They are the support staff, if you will. They have no desire to be the upfront person. Their Drunk Uncle is actually the Intuitive. So that kind of big picture and entrepreneurial and starting their own business is absolutely their backseat. Katie, and most ESFJ's absolutely love being the Caretaker. They love that role in their family and their life. And they are absolutely the perfect, perfect assistant and integrator for the visionary. I really hope you enjoy this episode. And I loved it and I think you will too!Much love, JessicaFor more about Jessica, additional episodes, and to schedule a call, visit https://jessicabutts.com/Follow Jessica on Instagram: @frontseatlifeFollow Katie on Instagram: @katiecougarFront Seat Life Podcasthttps://businessinnovatorsradio.com/front-seat-life-podcast/Source: https://businessinnovatorsradio.com/92-fs16-esfj-with-katie-christiansen
Welcome back to the Front Seat 16, our new series from the Front Seat Life podcast! I am your host Jessica Butts, and today Sara Dean joins me for probably my favorite episode of the series to talk about ENFJ! Why's it my favorite? Because it's my type too, haha! Sara is a dear friend, a podcasting genius, and the creator and host of The Shameless Mom Podcast.Overall ENFJs are extroverted, intuitive, feeling and judging which means they give their best selves to other people. They are big picture thinkers. They think outside the box, they're always thinking about what's next. It makes them great entrepreneurs. They are feelers, meaning they make decisions with their hearts and they are Js, which means they're normally pretty obsessive, highly organized, like to be on time, they are planners, and futuristic. And they pretty much have the horse blinders on, like, “Get out of my way, don't distract me, this is where I'm going.” The ENFJs and the ENFPs are interesting because they're very similar, but their front seats are different. An ENFJ is out in the world, giving, sharing, connecting in life and in business, right? We normally have a lot of friends. We have a lot of activities going on. People might think we're very social and, and extroverted and outgoing, which is true. But not the other half of us, the other 50% of us is inside in our hearts. In our mind, being intuitive, walking in silence, thinking in silence, journaling, having a morning practice, getting away by ourselves, taking solo trips, a weekend retreats by ourself, all a whole bunch of alone. Welcome back to the Front Seat 16, our new series from the Front Seat Life podcast! I am your host Jessica Butts, and today Gina and Rae join me as our ENFPs! Gina and I went to graduate school together and we both decided to transition from therapy to coaching because of the constrictions placed upon us, they just didn't jive with our types. These two have learned that living and being in a relationship with someone who is the same type can have some amazing benefits. There are still a few challenges, but Gina and Rae seem to have figured out how to love and thrive with each other.ENFP is probably my favorite type, and for years I wanted to be an ENFP and I would take the assessment over and over again. And I would come out in ENFP, which is gotta be hilarious to everybody who knows me, because I'm a super “J”, I'm very controlling, very organized, very long-term vision. But I love ENFPs and so I would skew it to be what I thought I wanted to be because they are very raw, very loving, and open, and compassionate. They're kind of named the “cheerleader.” They are enthusiastic. They have a lot of charisma. People love them. They are very fly by the seat of their pants, and go with the flow.I feel like they've just got life figured out, but they just are so just spontaneous and enjoyable to be around. You want to be around them. They're those kinds of people because they have this really beautiful energy. They are giving their best selves to other people. They are great visionaries of the business. Absolutely horrible integrators. It is probably the worst part of them is getting shit done. They are absolutely not good integrators. They are the visionaries, the Walt Disney's of the world. They are the people who are thinking outside the box and then they must, must, must have somebody, a right-hand person to help them get all of those ideas done. Otherwise I'm very, honestly, they will never get them. They will never get them done if they do not have somebody to help them implement all of their ideas.I hope you enjoy today's episode. Gina and Rae are just a gift to the universe as individuals, but especially as a couple. They are really open about their life and how wonderful it is and the things that as a couple, they struggle with, like not getting things done. You gotta listen to this wonderful conversation!Cheers, JessicaFor more about Jessica and additional episodes, visit https://jessicabutts.com/Join the Front Seat Collective here: https://jessicabutts.com/fsl-collective/Follow Jessica on Instagram: @frontseatlifeGina's website: https://heygina.com/Follow Gina on Instagram: @heyginasenaFront Seat Life Podcasthttps://businessinnovatorsradio.com/front-seat-life-podcast/Source: https://businessinnovatorsradio.com/90-fs16-enfp-with-gina-and-rae
Welcome back to the Front Seat 16, our new series from the Front Seat Life podcast! I am your host Jessica Butts, and today Karen Rosenzweig joins me as my official ESTJ. Karen is one of my favorite people ever. She is a total go-getter, and an incredibly awesome human being. But before we get started in all of these episodes of all of the 16 types, I want to go over five main things, which is more the Front Seat Life methodology before we jump into our guests. So those five things are who an ESTJ is overall, their Front Seat, their backseat, their archetype (my made up intellectual property), and then a really great career for each type.Meyers-Briggs calls an ESTJ “The Guardian.” I would lovingly possibly call them “The Controllers” because ESTJs are extroverted, sensing, thinking and judging, which means they're extroverted out in the world and they are very logical detail oriented. They make decisions with their head and they're very organized, structured on time. They like things a certain way. They don't have a lot of emotional regulation, they're not super into emotions.I break all of this down before we hop into my conversation with Karen who has been an entrepreneur for 15 years and runs One Smart Cookie Marketing. Her type is my Mom's type, so I know her type extremely well! Karen is kind enough to open up about her challenges and how she also excels because her type. And we also dive into how she and her wife, who is the exact opposite type, connect and manage to accept each other for who they are. It's another wonderful and beautiful conversation where we get to unpack a lot and I'm sure many of you will be able to relate on many levels. I hope this is helpful and interesting to you. Please listen to this fantastic episode with Karen Rosensweig. And stay tuned for more powerful episodes in this series, I'm so excited to bring it to you!Much love, JessicaFor more about Jessica and additional episodes, visit https://jessicabutts.com/Join the Front Seat Collective here: https://jessicabutts.com/fsl-collective/Follow Jessica on Instagram: @frontseatlifeKaren's One Smart Cookie Marketing: https://onesmartcookiemarketing.com/Follow Karen on Instagram:@karenrosenzweigFront Seat Life Podcasthttps://businessinnovatorsradio.com/front-seat-life-podcast/Source: https://businessinnovatorsradio.com/89-fs16-estj-with-karen-rosenzweig
Welcome back to the Front Seat 16, our new series from the Front Seat Life podcast! I am your host Jessica Butts, and today we've got Courtney Anderson as my official ENTJ. It was a very simple choice for me when I was starting all of the Front Seat 16 interviews, it was very obvious to me that Courtney would be my ENTJ. Courtney is a former client and I would consider her a friend now, one who is super wicked smart. As an ENTJ Courtney is sassy and says what's on her mind. I think we're probably like sisters from another mother, we're super similar, and she has been an amazing student. She's now a coach herself and she's got a thriving business.True to form, Counrtney breaks out her sassy side and tells us how life is when you are A Thinking Woman. She starts with some amazing stories when she was just eight years old and had a realization she wasn't quite like everyone else, and didn't care. The stories continue and she reveals some incredible tales I had never heard before. Truly mind-blowing, but on point for an ENTJ.We unpack so many powerful concepts in this conversation, and if you are feeling like you are living an incongruent life right now, this may resonate. It may be a huge eye-opener and I encourage everyone to listen in, it's a good one.I certainly feel that there are people who will listen to this episode, and you may be one of them, maybe you hear yourself in Courtney. And that is validating. It is normalizing. And it's so good for you to know that you're not alone. You're unique and that's perfectly okay. And stay tuned for more powerful episodes in this series, I'm so excited to bring it to you!Much love, JessicaFor more about Jessica and additional episodes, visit https://jessicabutts.com/Join the Front Seat Collective here: https://jessicabutts.com/fsl-collective/Follow Jessica on Instagram: @frontseatlifeCourtney's 30 Ways to Say “No!” freebie: https://www.girlonfire.biz/sayno/Follow Courtney on Instagram: @girl.on.fire.coFront Seat Life Podcasthttps://businessinnovatorsradio.com/front-seat-life-podcast/Source: https://businessinnovatorsradio.com/88-fs16-entj-with-courtney-anderson
Hello! And welcome back to the Front Seat Life podcast and our new series, the Front Seat 16! I am your host Jessica Butts, and I am here to help you be unapologetically, who you are in your life, love and business, by understanding and embracing your innate personality type. Most of you know, I am all about NOT doing stuff that you suck at and absolutely leaning into your Front Seat. And that is what we're going to be talking about in this podcast. For those of you who don't know me, CEO and creator of Front Seat Life. I am a Myers-Briggs expert. I'm a life and business coach for intuitive women, author, keynote speaker, obviously a podcaster, and a former couples therapist and psychotherapist.I'm an ENFJ, truth-teller, F-bomb dropper, and lover of all things. And fiercely dedicated to helping you be unapologetically who you are.I am so excited to take you on this new series called Front Seat 16! And that means we are going to do a deep dive into all 16 Myers-Briggs types, as well as the Front Seat methodology behind every single one of the types. So it'll be a 16 week series. I have guests every single week coming on, talking to you about some of their front seat, some of their backseat (that is what they're terrible at) and everything in between. To kick of the series I am chatting with the wonderful Rachel Belle. We dive deep into her type and break it all down. It's a great conversation with a lot of “a-ha” moments which I'm sure you can get something from, be sure and listen to this one!And stay tuned for more episodes in this series, I'm so excited to bring it to you!Much love, JessicaFor more about Jessica, the Front Seat Collective, and additional episodes, visit https://jessicabutts.com/Follow Jessica on Instagram: @frontseatlifeRachel's podcast: https://yourlastmealpodcast.comFollow Rachel on Instagram: @hellorachelbelleFront Seat Life Podcasthttps://businessinnovatorsradio.com/front-seat-life-podcast/Source: https://businessinnovatorsradio.com/87-fs16-are-you-suppressing-your-type
Wooooooooo, it has been quite a ride the past 10 years since graduating Graduate School in June of 2011! In today’s podcast I share 6 1/2 lessons (I had 6 but of course had another little one that popped into my head while riffing) I have learned in the last 10 years of entrepreneurship.1) Simple is better…more is NOT better. Do one thing super awesome.2) Know your type and do it YOUR way!3) Don’t try to keep up with the entrepreneurial Jones!4) PROFIT FIRST! It is YOUR money…keep more of it!4.5) Have multiple streams of revenue.5) Reassess at LEAST once a year. There are no mistakes, only information! Do only what you love doing!6) Take breaks! Lots of them. And learn how to compartmentalize! The season is over so I am taking a break from the podcast until September but I cannot wait to be back with you then for a VERY special and exciting series….The Front Seat 16!Make sure to get on my list and/or follow me on Instagram (@frontseatlife) over the summer for much more Healing the Hustle content.Much love, JessicaFor more about Jessica and additional episodes, visit https://jessicabutts.com/The FREE Front Seat Squad: https://jessicabutts.com/squad/Front Seat Life Podcasthttps://businessinnovatorsradio.com/front-seat-life-podcast/Source: https://businessinnovatorsradio.com/86-hth-10-year-anniversary-lessons
Last episode we talked about identifying the holes in our bucket, then how to plug those up. Today we are going to start to fill our buckets back up. We are wrapping this Healing the Hustle series up in the next two episodes, and I know I originally talked about covering Codependency this week, but I am going to have to circle back to that another day.To set us up for the bucket filling, first I’m going to do a quick re-cap of how we got here. And, also a little reminder that this series is definitely for the “J” types, those who tend to be more “hustly” and entrepreneurs. Those who can’t sit still and always have to be moving forward. Now, one of the first things you can do to start to fill you bucket up, after you’ve fixed the holes, is to be more Soulfish, actually being Soulfish as F*ck. My dear friend Judy came up with that word, which I love. I don’t like “self-care,” I don’t know. it’s so overused. And I don’t love the word “selfish” because I think people have an awful connotation with it.Soulfish is doing those things that you need to do to take care of your soul, it has a much deeper meaning, a deeper impact. And on top of being Soulfish, we need a Soul Care Team to help us, to support us.I know part of Healing the Hustle is absolutely having people who “get us” because otherwise we have these feelings of depression and anxiety and shame and isolation. We’ve all been there, to the networking events or other group meeting where we just don’t fit in, where there isn’t the connection we are craving and need. I would say is a huge one of people just don’t get us.But when you find people that truly, truly get you, there is no better feeling. And there is no better way to Heal the Hustle than to absolutely be able to show up, unapologetically who we are, and have people get us… and you get them. This is about filling our bucket a new way, a way of not feeling isolated and not feeling unseen.Summer School closes today and if you’re being called, if you’ve been questioning it, I pray that you will follow your intuition and come find your people. Because it may not just be eight weeks for you, it may end up completely changing your life and you’ll find friends that will forever ever be part of your life.Join the Healing the Hustle Summer School! In the last 5 episodes we have been discussing WHY we are Hustling and identifying the hole in our buckets. The trauma’s, our families of origin, our innate personality type and the insane social media world we live in at the moment. If you have learned anything from me hopefully it is about being unapologetically who you are and what it means to live your life from the Front Seat and today’s episode is about how we have different ways to heal based on our personality types and much more.3 main topics I will be covering on today’s episode:1. Why type matters in HOW we Heal the Hustle2. Why what you have been doing is NOT working (hint…it’s not about external things! )3. How learning to mind your business and stay on your side of the net will give you HOURS a week back in your life! There are been many times in my life where I mistakenly looked outside of myself to try to fill my bucket, all the while, I had a huge gapping hole in the bottom of my bucket. I would try to buy, shop, scroll, date, drink, busy myself or any number of other things to happiness or fulfillment. In my 47 years I can confidently say NONE OF THAT SHIT WORKS!Because I needed to fix the hole in my bucket FIRST!I have had to learn how to:1. Identify the hole in my bucket. Family of origin shit (we alllllll have this), know my innate bossy personality type (ENFJ), my attachment style (avoidant and I will teach you more about this in Summer School), trauma’s from my marriage including addiction and affairs, understanding my codependent style (doormat) and MUCH MORE!2. Fix the hole in my bucket. Therapy, coaching, masterminds, boundaries, SAF (Soulfish as F*ck), cutting out people in my life, ability to walk away from things and people that no longer serve me, getting exquisitely clear on who and what I spend my energy on (rocks), only doing Front Seat activities, and much more!3. And coming up in summer school and future episodes….Filling your bucket the new way that’s right for YOU!Today and this weekend only you can invite a friend for FREE to Healing the Hustle Summer School! I think this episode could also be called “Keeping up with the Joneses.”In today’s episode you will hear me get real about why I sold my house. You’ll also learn how I made yet another mistake about not living in my personality type as an intuitive.I’ll share the story of how my life and business expenses got out of control and why (and how) I change that. And I’ll reveal 3 important questions to ask yourself about your life! Today’s episode is part two of WHY you are hustling.I talk about the importance of understanding the WHY so that we can make lasting change in our lives. There are so many people that want to simply put Band-Aids on issues and not dig in to the deeper understanding of where our issues come from yet we must do some digging to get to a way of being! And…it is SOOOO eye opening and helpful! There are some tough topics in today’s episode but I believe that we’ve got to look at them in order to change them and I do hope you enjoy it.Last week I talked about the nature part of why and your personality type. This week we’re shifting to nurture and talking about patriarchy. I’m going to also delve into the New World of technology that we live in and how that is contributing to our hustle. And don’t forget you are invited to the free 10 Day Healing the Hustle challenge starting Monday, May 10th at 9:30 am PDT in the Front Seat Squad FB group!I hope you are enjoying the series so far…MUCH more to come!Healing the Hustle, JessicaFor more about Jessica and additional episodes, visit https://jessicabutts.com/podcastThe FREE Front Seat Squad: https://jessicabutts.com/squad/Front Seat Life Podcasthttps://businessinnovatorsradio.com/front-seat-life-podcast/Source: https://businessinnovatorsradio.com/82-hth-patriarchy-and-hustle

Notice a change in my voice already. It’s the first morning of a 13-day break, much needed. I am taking some time to reflect and release, regroup, and get super realigned with myself. My core values, my heart, my personality type, my business, and myself as a woman, all the things.I’m recording this a couple of days before my freaking birthday. I’m 47 years old, and I don’t know how that happened. I’m way too immature to be 47 years old. And today, I am going to be talking to you a little bit about things that I’ve learned this year in hopes that you hear something that you may need to incorporate as well.I’m doing my birthday episode about messages and getting quiet and regrouping because that is what I am doing. And I believe that so many times, I am feeling the collective of what other people are feeling. I’ve known this for years. I’ve felt this since I became a therapist, and I started checking in with my body.Let’s talk about the 80 20 rule of rest. And I am also telling you this, and I’m going to be practicing it. And this might come as some bad news, but I’m going to take the summer off from the podcast. I need a break. I need a break for a couple of reasons. I had a guest speaker come into my mastermind group, just last week. Heather Denniston, she’s fabulous. And she was quoting this book that says we need to “make space for our soul to catch up.”I think we’re being called as a collective right now to do this, to make space for souls to catch up. And there’s a lot of things at play right now. Obviously COVID, we’re in the middle of Mercury retrograde, it’s summer, this beautiful black lives matter movement, the social justice movement. We are being called to take a pause, to slow down.So during this episode, I’m focusing on and giving you a little guidance to help you release, regroup, and realign. To get connected to our selves. And that brings me to this 80/20 Rule of Rest. When we don’t do this, our bodies will rest us. Do you know what I mean? If we do not rest 20% of the time, our bodies will rest us. So that means I get to choose. YOU get to choose. The 80/20 rule is 80% in your Front Seat, 20% in your Back Seat. But your back seat can be a place of choice.Choose to release, regroup, realign… rest. We all need a break. So my friends, my friends, my friends I’m off. I’m going to go take a break now definitely, but I will be back. It feels very, very, in alignment with what I need to do for my soul right now. So thank you for understanding.I will see you guys very, very, very soon. Part three of three, we’ve made it! We’ve talked about “Who Are You?” and “Where Are You Going?” and now we’re going to make some moves and take some action!I love doing this work on myself. I love helping other people do it. And so that’s where today, “How are you going to get there?” This is comprised of a bunch of different things, but the very first thing is about taking action. It drives me up a wall when people are lazy or feel entitled, or maybe they watched “The Secret” and are just trying to manifest everything into their life.I believe that God is on this path with us, and he expects us to do some work. He expects us to do some work. I find it ridiculous when people expect things to happen because you must actually do some work. So, I created a system called the Three S method. The three S’s are Structure, Systems, and Singular focus. And this is, quite honestly, whether this is about your life or your business.Structure is about you. It’s your life. It’s your morning practice, getting up on time, how you’re spending your time. And then Systems for your business specifically, but also for your personal life, are things outside of you. This, for example, is auto-pay on all of your bills. And I’ve got a truckload of stuff to teach you in summer school, if you so choose to come do that with us, around all the things that help you in Systems to basically get your shit together.Singular focus is absolutely around something that I’ve done for years. Which are 90-day goals, mind mapping, and a bunch of tools to help you really stay focused on what needs to get done right now.Singular focus to me is probably the most effective tool I’ve ever I’ve used or the concept really around getting shit done and building the business that I’ve built. Especially because we intuitive types love to squirrel.During this powerful episode, I also talk about permission. Sometimes we feel like we need permission and my friends, part of how are you going to get there is giving yourself permission or if you need it from me, it is granted.Permission granted my friends to live the life that you want to live, to live unorthodox, to live as a weirdo, to live as only 25% of the population. That’s what this podcast is for and why I’m here to help.Listen in, there’s so much more for you and I’ll be back on my birthday for an epic episode, you won’t want to miss it! Alright, until next time, I’m sending you so much love! For more about Jessica and her upcoming events, visit https://jessicabutts.comFollow her on Instagram @frontseatlife for daily motivation. The FREE Front Seat Squad: https://jessicabutts.com/squad/Not sure what your Myers Briggs personality type is? Today is the second part of the three-part series that I’m doing about the stages of the business program that I’m very, very proud of called Don’t Do Stuff You Suck At Entrepreneurial School for creative and visionary, intuitive types. When I first wrote both of my books, these questions were posed to me many, many years ago. Who are you? Where are you going? And how are you going to get there? And it was a profound realization for me at the time because I didn’t know the answers to any of them. And so as we get into step two today, you can’t do one of these without the others. So figuring out who you are is fantastic and fabulous, and it needs the other two. And you can’t go to the third step, which will be next week’s podcast, how are you going to get there without figuring out who the heck you are and where you’re going. So these need to be done in sequence. So let’s jump into today, which is, “Where are you going?”“Where are you going?” is all about our mindset and allowing ourselves to be creative, allowing ourselves to think outside the box, allowing ourselves to dream. And to be the true visionaries of our business. Now, if you’re anything like me, intuitives can’t use a lot of the methods or frameworks like SMART goals, because those are created by and for sensors. We do things differently. We need to learn how to mind map, which is a visual representation of the chaos going on in our intuitive brains at all time. We also need to be around likeminded people to figure out where we are going. Beware the “Dream Killers” who question us, and tell all the ways our plans and ideas won’t work. You know them, they say, “Can’t you just get a job?”Another way we figure out where we’re going is, of course, vision boards. It’s nothing new. It’s a bit old school, but that shit works. And I’ve talked about this ad nauseum and other podcasts, but when I went to hypnotherapy school and became trained as a hypnotherapist, the main thing that I learned and took from that is that our subconscious brains are 90% of us. What are you listening to? Uplifting podcasts. All the things that are all part of the 90% of our subconscious. So another massive part of where we are going is learning how to set boundaries. That is a big part, the whole codependency and cutting out some of the naysayers. Is setting boundaries so that we have space to dream, thinking outside the box, being creative, setting boundaries with your children, your spouse, your partner, your family members. And then we need to take action—more on that next week. But once we figure out our dream and where we’re going, we must move. And so many of us get caught in a new vision, a new perfect plan… I call this “Squirreling.”Alright, until next time I’m sending you so much love, and I will see you next Friday. Hello, Front Seat Lifers. It feels like it’s been a really long time since I’ve been with you, but it’s only been two weeks. And wow, what a two weeks it has been for our country. I will say that is not what this episode is about, but I cannot be a good human being and be unapologetically who I am without acknowledging everything that is going on in our world at the moment with the beautiful Black Lives Matter movement. I am fully, fully, fully 1000% in support of that. I love how people are showing up on what’s going on in our country. And quite honestly, around the world. The next three episodes are going to be about my signature work that I do with entrepreneurs to help them start and grow their business around their personality types.I help people understand who they are, where they’re going and how they’re going to get there. And I love, love, love, helping all people do that.I mentioned this on the last podcast, but I have been struggling with the hamster wheel of content. And continuing to do this podcast they way I have been just isn’t me, and that’s the main point of this episode… a little ironic. I don’t believe in doing things just because people tell you have to do them. My number one thing about building your business, which we get into during this episode, is you got to do it your way. You got to figure out who you are and that stage one of the whole program. There’s eight stages, but the first stage is being unapologetically who you are.Listen in as I explain why I haven’t really been true to myself and what my plans are for the show. I also outline the eight stages to build a successful business. The first age is being unapologetically who you are, type and core values. Number two is the shift from squirrel to structure. Number three, your mess is your message. Number four, show up., branding your business Number five systems and automation, running smoothly.Stage six, let’s make some money, honey. Stage seven, connection versus transaction and stage eight, the long game, which is CEO mentality, like going from a hobby to an actual business. When I was trying to put these together in a sequence that would make sense for the three sections of my book — Who are you? Where are you going? How are you going to get there? Today is basically “Who are you?” And the stages that go into “Who are you?” are stage one, being unapologetically who you are, stage three your mess is your message and stage four, show up and branding your business. And somewhat number seven, which is a connection versus transaction. So, tune in to this because I go fairly deep into how you can figure out who you are, and why it’s so important for building your foundation. It’s critical.I will see you next week. We’ve got so much more to talk about. All right, loves. I will see you then, bye.For more about Jessica and her upcoming events, visit https://jessicabutts.comFollow her on Instagram @frontseatlife for daily motivation. The FREE Front Seat Squad: https://jessicabutts.com/squad/Not sure what your Myers Briggs personality type is? Welcome, everybody! Today’s episode is a DOOZY. I’m going to ask you to BUCKLE UP for this ride. There are going to be some surprises. And I’m going to talk today about some things, thoughts, and ideas that have been stewing for a while now.One of my core values for this podcast is just to KEEP IT REAL. When I started, I said, I’m going to be as transparent as I humanly can be while at the same time protecting the privacy of those in my life. It’s always essential for me to be transparent, authentic, AND OPEN. It’s one of my core values as a human being, as a business owner, as a woman, and as this podcast host.So today I’ve got kind of four or five main things that I want to talk about. These are things I just wanted you guys to know about so you can get a sense of where I’m at, why I’m doing what I’m doing and what’s going on with my life.Because as you know, I teach this stuff, yet I still even struggle with it. It’s just a thing. We are always in this PROCESS OF EVOLUTION, and we’re always learning more things about ourselves. You’re never just done. You’re never going to be like, “Okay, I’ve got this figured out.”I’ve been thinking about this episode for quite a few weeks, and I was like, wow, I just need to say all of this stuff. So I hope you listen and get all of the details, the good, the challenging, all of it.If I’ve been pulling away, this is what’s been going on. And so I hope you’ll go on this journey with me because I’m amazed at how wonderful that this can feel to be “SOULFISH,” to be unapologetically who you are, to understand your type, to take time by yourself to re-evaluate what’s working for you and not what’s working for you.I think that’s one of the biggest things, we get to decide. I hear this all the time. “I can’t.” Yes, you can. YES, YOU CAN. I can.The beauty of being an entrepreneur and being an intuitive type is that we get to do this stuff. Alright, I will see you next week. I’m jumping in. The new series starts next week, so you don’t want to miss the series… four weeks in a row.Okay, bye guys. Thanks again for everything. I so appreciate you.For more about Jessica and her upcoming events, visit https://jessicabutts.comFollow her on Instagram @frontseatlife for daily motivation. The FREE Front Seat Squad: https://jessicabutts.com/squad/Not sure what your Myers Briggs personality type is? Hello, Front Seat Lifers! I have a special, amazing, WONDERFUL guest for you today, Michelle Mazur. We both live here in the Seattle area, and she is a rock star. She’s a straight-up weirdo, just like me, and so many of you, and she’s also a total intuitive type. She has a Ph.D. in Communications and has created this company called 3 WORD REBELLION that I gravitate towards, hence, Front Seat Life, and it is just a fascinating way to describe your business and what you do.Michelle’s philosophy on this 3 Word Rebellion is one of the BEST TOOLS I have ever seen or heard or studied about getting clear about what your message is so that you don’t go off and squirrel. Listen carefully because Michelle is going to BLOW YOUR SOCKS OFF today! She is absolutely an amazing person, an amazing business owner, an amazing woman, an amazing intuitive, and an AMAZING GUEST.Again, this POWERFUL MESSAGING FRAMEWORK is all about creating a one of a kind message that grows your business into a movement.Michelle grew her business as a public speaking coach for about five years, and then literally had a, “Fuck this shit! I can’t do this anymore…” moment.Giving herself SPACE and time to reflect, she noticed that many good communicators were able to encapsulate the change they want to create in just a few words.“It’s like your message is so important in getting you known, and I thought to myself, I wonder if I could take questions from social movement theory, like what are you rebelling against? What’s the CHANGE you’re trying to create in the world and use them with my clients? To see if I could get them to their core message, like let them just kind of free write, dump their ideas out of their head.I wonder if I could help them figure out what their core message is, and THAT WORKED!”And that was the beginning of the 3 Word Rebellion.Listen in today as we dig deep into this incredible messaging concept and unpack why it works and how it works. Michelle even gives us a “TEMPLATE” to follow when crafting our message.Does it just have to be three words? So, in her book, she gives creative constraints, which are rules, but it can be two to five words. The important thing to remember is that it’s incredibly sticky or starts what Michelle calls an “INTRIGUE LOOP.” The first thing it does is it stops the other person. It grabs their attention because it’s something a little bit different. And that’s just the start. LISTEN to this episode, get her book, follow her AND IMPLEMENT this into your messaging and you will find the clarity and focus you have been seeking. I guarantee it! This episode is one you need to listen to ALL THE WAY to the end. So damn good. SO DAMN GOOD.Thanks again for listening, I appreciate you all so much and hope you are staying healthy and well. Hello! I am not going to lie, I am extra excited today, one because I’ve had way too much coffee and two, I have a dear friend of mine, Jena Rodriguez with me.She’s kicking ass in business and she’s just a soul sister kind of person. And during this mind-bending conversation we talk about ego, what it is, and some very amazing insights about EGO TRICKS. Especially now in the time of Covid. And in general, for simplistic purposes, ego is that “protect yourself” instinct, that reptilian part of us that is here to keep us alive. And that is turned on at unprecedented levels right now. We need to have that protection otherwise we would be aimlessly walking around this earth getting hit by buses. And this is getting pushed to the max right now and there are certain “ego tricks” that may prevent us from being triggered and becoming the BABY IN THE BACK SEAT. Listen in as we unpack this important concept.Jena and I also dive deep into BEING BRAVE and she reveals her bravery levels, including being brave by survival, by choice, and ultimately BRAVE BY PURPOSE.I believe wholeheartedly that unless bravery is coming from our purpose, people can read through it in a hot minute. When I say brave by purpose, it means that when we are looking through the lens of our choices and our decisions and our actions and our thinking and our beliefs it comes from within… This is not happening to us, it is happening for us.Jena says she hears people describe their fears and their concerns and their challenges as, “I have to do this and I have to do that and now we have to stay in and we have to do that…”Here’s the thing. If you want an immediate transformation, change that to “I get to.” Just reframe that in nanoseconds and only because as soon as you say “I get to,” you just gained so much more personal power. You became that person that can self-lead and therefore lead your family, children, and whoever else is right around you, let alone online.Listen to this episode and gain yourself some personal power, we could all use a little now, and in the future. I feel like all of this is happening for a reason. I feel like this is the time to start having these incredibly rich, emotionally intelligent conversations. And I just thank you so, so, so much for being a part of this with me.For more about Jessica and her upcoming events, visit https://jessicabutts.comFollow her on Instagram @frontseatlife for daily motivation. The FREE Front Seat Squad: https://jessicabutts.com/squad/Not sure what your Myers Briggs personality type is? As always, I am super honored to be with you, and I’ve been sitting with that least episode for probably the last ten days or so and following my launch I’ve been off and just kind of taking some downtime. And during this period of “recovery,” what has been coming up for me is this question, “When is enough, ENOUGH?”I’ve asked myself this question many times throughout the years, and it’s really, really come back up for me strongly and powerfully during Covid, during quarantine work, during the global pandemic, in addition to launching during that time. All of this and maybe the TIME OF PAUSE has brought to the forefront for me, and for others as well, this opportunity to reflect and think about this idea of when is enough, enough?During this episode, I dive into how personality type plays into our attitude around this concept and why it’s important to ask specific questions when we feel things aren’t meeting our expectations, or we can’t seem to reach our goals. Why is this happening for me, not to me, and WHAT CHANGES DO I GET TO MAKE in my business right now and my life, my life, and my business right now? Because again, to me, I feel this is the opportunity of all opportunities to slow it down and say, “Okay, everybody stop. Let’s reevaluate. What do I really want to do?”And as I’ve talked about in past episodes, our INTUITION is our greatest guide. In so many ways, this is so delightful to slow down. So, listen in, and I give you some things that I want you to consider when you think about, “When is enough, enough?”Number one always is: What is your type? Number two: What are your core values? One of my big core values is FREEDOM, and there are a lot of different ways to define this idea for each of us.What are your circumstances? What is your lifestyle? What is important to you? Whatever your way is, the way that you run your business, the way that you live your life, that is always enough. When you die, what will you regret? This is a deeply thoughtful episode, highlighting some learning I’ve recently experienced and some from the past, but all very important. Best wishes, as always, and I will see you next week. For more about Jessica and her upcoming events, visit https://jessicabutts.comFollow her on Instagram @frontseatlife for daily motivation. The FREE Front Seat Squad: https://jessicabutts.com/squad/Not sure what your Myers Briggs personality type is? All right, Front Seat Lifers, I have a SPECIAL GUEST with me today. If you’ve been following along, you listened to last week where I got super vulnerable, super real about why I wholeheartedly believe that COVID is happening for me, not to me.My guest today, Tarzan Kay, and I were both LAUNCHING while the pandemic was peaking. And today we talk about all kinds of things related to OUR EXPERIENCES, the lessons we learned, and so much more. I mean we even talk about household chores, whether God is male or female, entrepreneurship, and a host of topics inspired by our mutual desire to serve our communities. We also realized that the pandemic wasn’t going to stop us from our plans. As a successful entrepreneur, you do have to have A PLAN. It’s not just throwing spaghetti at the wall. Then we still have a massive BELIEF in what we’re putting out into the world, with full integrity. For both of us, we had big sales targets, high hopes. We ALWAYS PUSH ourselves and the goals were a stretch before the pandemic. Even though we didn’t achieve those goals, we’re both proud of the efforts of both teams. And Tarzan pointed out that, “There’s always a ripple effect. I call it the LAUNCH HALO. It’s like every time you launch something, every time you put yourself out there in this way where you’re very public, very clear on what you’re here to teach, how you can help…“And you’re sending lots of emails and social media posts and you’re really banging your pots and pans about what you do. So much happens, so many more people become aware of what they could achieve through working with you. And things happen.”In the end we’ve realized it’s the same stuff at every level. Am I having fun? Is this in ALIGNMENT with my core values? Is it in alignment with my life or my business? Is it alignment with my personality type? Am I pushing a boulder up a hill? For me, if you listened last week, you’ll know that my launch was starting to feel like a TRAIN speeding down the tracks, OUT OF COTROL. I’m glad I took a moment to step back and pause and realize is that maybe it’s not worth it. I had to ask myself some tough questions… How can I be smart? How can I connect with my people? How can I still be of service? I revisited my theme words: Focused leadership, Visionary, Have Fun, Self-Soothing, and Love and Partnership.Tarzan added one little addendum, “You still have to do hard things.”Absolutely.I’m actually grateful for this crazy pandemic right now, because it’s giving me this opportunity to pause and really reevaluate. What do we want? Please check out Tarzan and all her things, she is amazing. Thanks for tuning in to the conversation that goes both deep and wide, it’s a good one. Hello Front Seat Lifers, it is Jessica, your host, and it is in the middle of COVID. And I want to have a deeply, profoundly PERSONAL PODCAST with you because everybody has different reasons that they do their business, that they do podcasts, that they show up in this world. And one of my core values, one of my reasons for existence, is to be VULNERABLE and share my life experiences with you. So it’s gonna get real today. This is MY EXPERIENCE, and everybody’s having their own experience right now. I’m not going to sit around and judge parents as they’re going through their situation. And I ask that you don’t judge mine as a business owner and as a single person because these lessons, while they’re deeply personal, they’re also my own. The reason I’m sharing them is that I hope that you learn something from them. And then secondary is I’m going to tell you how I figured this out in the middle of COVID, in middle of a launch, what I’ve been doing to have these deeply, deeply impactful LIFE LESSONS that are coming through very clearly. So there’s going to be two parts of this podcast. One is what I’m learning as a business owner, as a woman, as a partner, as a friend, and as a daughter. And then I’m going to tell you how that’s happening so that you can hopefully learn from both.So last week was the launch of my best program that I’ve ever put together called LIVE UNAPOLOGETICALLY. It’s specifically for Intuitive types. And I’m obsessed with it. I have been in a launch sequence plan for about four months, really just working on it, perfecting it, spending, teams, all the things. So last week was the launch. I may be clear in my head I had a hope, and that number or metric did not happen. Not even close. I’m kind of over it. I sat in sadness and grief and shifting expectations. Last week it was deeply personal. It was deeply wounding, and now this week, just one week later, I have done what I’m going to hopefully teach you to do. This week, I’ve gotten QUIET.So every hard time in my life, there is what I would consider a BREAKTHROUGH AFTER THE BREAKDOWN. And this might be the fifth or so full-on breakdown. Like it was bad. It was pacing. I don’t suffer from anxiety, but I would say that was the closest to a panic attack I’ve ever gotten. And here’s the deal with all of those. You’ve got to have the break down before you have the breakthrough. I can’t speak for other people, but I’ve never actually had a real breakthrough if I didn’t have a breakdown.Listen to this powerfully vulnerable episode as I unpack this fully. You can make excuses. You can remain busy, but right now, THIS IS THE GIFT, the gift of space, the gift of time, the gift of freedom to create, dream, and restructure. This is the opportunity for the breakthrough after the breakdown, but you got to get real. You got to get real with yourself. We can do anything we want. You just got to know what it is that you want, and the only way to do that is to get quiet, to get quiet. I’ve spent more time being quiet this week than I have in a long time, and I’m going to do it again next week. What can be your breakthrough after this breakdown, and how is this happening for you, not to you?All right, my friends, we’ll see you next week. For more about Jessica and her upcoming events, visit https://jessicabutts.comFollow her on Instagram @frontseatlife for daily motivation.Sign up for the new Live Unapologetically course: https://jessicabutts.com/LU/The FREE Front Seat Squad: https://jessicabutts.com/squad/Not sure what your Myers Briggs personality type is? Jessa Zimmerman joins me today to talk about all things relationships and SEX during this pandemic and quarantine situation. Obviously, two things are going on. There is quarantine, and we’re also in massive fear – a global pandemic, people losing their jobs, people losing income. And we’re stuck together. So, for relationship therapist’s this is kind of the PERFECT STORM. We’ve heard there may be a BABY BOOM nine months from now, but there may also be a DIVORCE BOOM.During this killer conversation, we discuss how couples can navigate their differences due to personality type and desire discrepancy. And how they can find or block time to have difficult or fun conversations. We also talk quite a lot about how couples can work on things in their sex lives. It’s going to be tough to navigate personal space versus the overwhelming amount of “TOGETHER TIME,” especially if when managing kids or working from home.Listen to this valuable episode. We give some KICK-ASS ADVICE and awesome tips. If you want, you can use this time to grow in your most intimate relationship and grow. How are you CHOOSING to come out of this? This is a real time to discover what we need and ask for what we need. If that’s, “I need a day to be by myself,” or “I need an hour to go for a walk,” or “I would love for you to kiss me or embrace me,” or whatever it is. This is such an opportunity for us to get very clear and reflect on, “What is it that I WANT? How do I want our sex life, our love life, our conversations are our relationship to be?”This is a moment to kind of sit with those things so that we can work on it. And again, on the other side of it, where, where are we going to be? You know, I keep saying, “Where do you want to be on the other side of this?”Thanks again for listening, and I wish you only the best in health and happiness. Hello Front Seat Lifers, I have a question for you today: Do you know what brings hope?Having a plan for after the crisis is over!!
Hello, this is Jessica, your host coming to you during this “NEW NORMAL” that we’re in right now. And I am with you in the ROLLERCOASTER of emotions, the fear of the economy, the fear of people that I love getting sick. And during this time, I am, quite honestly, more committed than ever to bringing you content that is helpful and full transparency.I’m kind of ON FIRE right now. I am stuck in my house, and it seems to be a time of great inspiration for me, and so I’m just going gangbusters with content right now, and it feels good to be able to be of service and help in a way that I know that I can right now.I’m dedicated to HELPING PEOPLE understand themselves in this time of crisis through understanding personality type and human behavior, which I’m an expert in, and how that then also translates to our relationships in regular times, and now this time of crisis. As you may know, I am the creator of FRONT SEAT LIFE, a new approach to Myers-Briggs, and about our reptilian brain. My whole “BACKSEAT” methodology is about us understanding exactly what we’re going through right now, which are times of stress.I feel very much called to be of service right now. I’m going BALLS-TO-THE-WALL on my personal Facebook page right now to give a ton of content. I am talking about each of the dichotomies and how they show up in your Backseat. Then I’m going to be talking about how we, as human beings, either as single people or just as individuals, how WE CAN MANAGE this time of crisis by understanding our personality type. And of course, that BACKSEAT REPTILIAN BRAIN RESPONSE that is happening to every single one of us.I’m so in this creative mode, and it’s great energy. It’s super relevant content, 1000% pertinent to what we’re doing right now, and I’m asking for a little grace about also conserving my energy because I’m in this with all of you. I’m on the roller coaster. PLEASE JOIN me every morning on Facebook for more.I hope you enjoy the episode and know that there are more of them coming. I’m going to try to shove them in and do some bonus episodes and give you this content as quickly as possible because I know that WE’RE ALL IN IT.So, take care, TAKE CARE EVERYBODY. Take care of yourself, number one, and then take care of those that are very, very important to you. And start by understanding how you’re reacting to this time of stress, and then lovingly accepting and understanding how the people around you are.All right, enjoy. For more about Jessica and her upcoming events, visit https://jessicabutts.comFollow her on Instagram @frontseatlife for daily motivation.Sign up for the new Live Unapologetically waitlist: https://jessicabutts.com/LU/The FREE Front Seat Squad: https://jessicabutts.com/squad/Not sure what your Myers Briggs personality type is? All right, Front Seat Lifers, it is Jessica, your host. And before we get into today’s episode, I’m going to be super, SUPER VULNERABLE with you as I always am. Still, I’m going to start it right off because I have two caveats after recording this episode and just sitting with it for a bit.Number one, I have not thrown everything out. I say that, but my content manager, Stephanie, kind of scolded me, and she was like, “Girl, girl, stop saying that.” And it’s true. WE ARE PIVOTING. Hard. I have not thrown everything out. And I’ll be sincere; I’m having a lot of fun with content right now because I get to do it spontaneous and in the moment. The best way right now to keep up with what’s happening is to JOIN the Front Seat Squad. I’m LIVE there almost daily right now with updates and strategies on how to navigate our current and always changing rough waters.Number two, I am NOT A PARENT, and I am not a parenting expert. But I get it, and people are straight up in dire straits right now. I get it. I do. My friends have kids, that reality surrounds me and I never want to feel like I’m lecturing or preaching, and had a feeling that I needed to say that ahead of time because I believe everything that I say in this episode is 100% true. There is part of me that this is the only area in my life that sometimes I feel like a fraud if I’m honest because I don’t have kids. I’m not living in that reality. So, this is triggering some of my insecurities, and one of my core values is to just KEEP IT REAL with you guys, to be super transparent, to be super authentic.I am far from perfect. I got my own shit going on, and part of that is precisely what I’m saying. So, while I still 100% sit behind what you’re about to hear, I don’t want it to come off as lecturing, especially from someone who’s in a different scenario. Also, I think this episode is quite honestly one of MY FAVORITE EPISODES around personality type. Around working from home and schooling from home. All of this is still legit, and although I don’t know exactly some of the pain that you guys are going through, I’m sending you love. I hope you enjoy the episode.I’m in this with you, and I will see you next week. I love doing this podcast. I love educating. I LOVE SHARING my information that I know being a Myers-Briggs expert and a former psychotherapist and couple’s counselor. And one of my core values on this show is to be vulnerable with you and to share my life experiences.I don’t know who taught me this, but they call it TAO. Transparency, authenticity, and openness, which leads to today’s podcast. I am SICK as a dog. I am sick, sick, sick, sicker than I’ve been in a very long time. And. The show MUST go on.So, a couple of weeks ago, maybe it was just last week, I’m in such a fog. Anyway, I was doing all the things. We have a huge team right now. I have a lot of clients right now. We are getting ready to launch… And I told Stephanie and our new Director of Operations, Kristen, that I was not going to take my normal day off on Friday, and I was going to start working over the weekends until the launch, and I’m going to start doing Facebook Lives and all these things. And Stephanie said, “Hey girl, you might want to SLOW YOUR ROLL. Like, this is a marathon right now. This is not a sprint. You need to CONSERVE your ENERGY.” And at the time I was super healthy, completely in my Front Seat. I felt unstoppable. I felt like my normal, ambitious self.I know I’m a VERY STRONG J, and a lot of women in my life are too. J’s are doers. They are pushers. They are bossy, they’re controlling, they’re AMBITIOUS, they know what they want, and they go after it. That is when they’re in their Front Seat. P’s, on the other hand, go with the flow, don’t worry about it.I no doubt 1000% believe I got sick because I’m pushing TOO HARD. There’s too much going on. There’s a lot of pressure. There are a lot of expectations that I allow. I’m not stupid enough or naive enough to think that I am not 100% responsible for this, as are you.I’ve been SICK THREE TIMES this year, and it’s only March 10th, and it’s when I, as a J, can’t stop and rest.I’m BREAKING my Cardinal Rule. My Cardinal rule is compartmentalization and giving a hundred percent of my energy to the one thing that I’m doing. However, it becomes my fault when I’m trying to do 15 different things in a day. And it can absolutely take its toll. It can start to ruin your life.Could you give 80%? And not 110% or 125%? I think I’m that person, I just go all in so fucking hard that then there’s nothing in reserves and that’s exactly what’s happening to my body right now.I know for a fact that this is just the universe like slapping me upside the face. I didn’t listen the first two times it happened. I soldiered through and this one has TAKEN ME DOWN. And ironically, I’m still doing this. I think it’s a great life lesson. I think others can learn from it, which is one of my core values.I do this not to just pontificate and throw stuff at you, but to connect and let you know how I and many listening to this podcast right now can resonate with this.I’m MAKING A PLEDGE. The goal is 80% of the time to be hustling, to be ambitious, to be going after it, and then by choice 20% of the time resting. And I don’t think that includes Saturdays and Sundays because we’re also giving to other people. And I know for a lot of you that work nine to five, that sounds impossible. So how do you take at least a night a week or three or four days a month off for SELF-CARE? Set boundaries, and they’re non-negotiable.And so that’s the pledge says what I’m asking us to do. #jandppledge. And tag me @frontseatlife and I cannot wait to start this conversation on Instagram and start sharing how we as strong, ambitious J women are choosing to embrace some P energy, some “BEING” energy. I want to see your pledge. I want to see what you’re going to be participating in, how you can relax a little bit, and how you can implement this into your life. So, thank you for listening. As always, share this with any strong, beautiful, gorgeous, ambitious woman that you know, and LET’S START THIS PLEDGE!#jandppledgeFor more about Jessica and her upcoming events, visit https://jessicabutts.comFollow her on Instagram @frontseatlife for daily motivation.Sign up for the new Live Unapologetically waitlist: https://jessicabutts.com/LU/The FREE Front Seat Squad: https://jessicabutts.com/squad/Not sure what your Myers Briggs personality type is? As promised, we are going down a journey of DEBUNKING some myths, but I’m going to do it, of course, in Jessica-style. Today’s topic is debunking the myths surrounding INTROVERSION and EXTROVERSION.There are a lot of them, but I picked kind of my favorites. I want to start with some general myths, and then we’ll get into specific introverted and extroverted myths. The prevailing, overarching myth about introversion and extroversion is that WE ARE ONE OR THE OTHER. However, this is one of the only dichotomies that is balanced.Introversion and extroversion live, BOTH of them, in our Front Seat, which makes up 80% of who we are. Often, people think, “Oh my God, I’m just introverted, and there’s no extroverted part of me.” And that is not true. Or extroverts think, “Well, you know what’s weird? I wonder why I want to spend time by myself?”It’s NOT WEIRD. It’s just your Front Seat. There is NO such thing, technically, as an AMBIVERT (#ambivertisamyth). We’re all kind of ambiverts because we all have a Front Seat, and everybody’s Front Seat is half introverted and half extroverted. We’re both things. We just have a PREFERENCE for one over the other. Now, there are several other myths and misconceptions surrounding the introversion versus extroversion. Listen as I get way into some of these like the ones I used in the title of this episode, which is INTROVERTS are SELFISH AF, and EXTROVERTS are IDIOTS.As you listen, you’ll see many of these myths are stories we create in our heads about the other type. For example, introverts save their best selves for themselves, which to extroverts comes off very selfish. Why aren’t you getting back to me? Why aren’t you responding to me right away? Introverts tend to have a depth of friends and the depth of interest, meaning they only have a few friends, even a couple sometimes, but they’re very, very close to them, and they just have a few interests. Extroverts typically have a whole bunch of friends and a whole bunch of interests because they give their best selves to other people, which to introverts, that can seem idiotic.Again, this is just one myth I debunk in this episode, and I highly encourage you to listen in as I debunk several OTHER common MISCONCEPTIONS. And this is just the start of a series of these episodes, and I also am sharing a ton about type via my social media channels, so join me there for more insight and delight. I seriously could go on about this for years.I so appreciate your listening, and I will see you guys next week when I’m back debunking the myths of sensing and intuition, which is going to be a fricking doozy. I’m going to give you a teaser. One of the biggest myths is that SENSORS DON’T HAVE INTUITION. I have heard that from the day that I started using type 20 some years ago, and I cannot wait to share that with you next week.I love, love, love, love sharing this stuff with you!For more about Jessica and her upcoming events, visit https://jessicabutts.comFollow her on Instagram @frontseatlife for daily motivation.Sign up for the new Live Unapologetically waitlist: https://jessicabutts.com/LU/The FREE Front Seat Squad: https://jessicabutts.com/squad/Not sure what your Myers Briggs personality type is? Recently, lots of people have been talking to me about some of the CONFUSION around INTUITIVE types. So, it’s led me to want to do some clarifying on this podcast episode today around NJ’s, which are intuitive judgers, and NP’s, intuitive perceivers.I created the FRONT SEAT LIFE, which is a revolutionary new approach to the Myers-Briggs personality type indicator. And as part of this approach, I created my own archetypes based on the Front Seat Life method. And that is the second dichotomy and the last dichotomy paired together, which means there are four: intuitives (N) and sensors (S), judgers (J) and perceivers (P). With the pairings being:- SJ: the police.- SP: the adventurers/artists.- NJ: the entrepreneurs.- NP: (my favorites) the squirrels.Today, in particular, I am going to be talking significantly about NP’s and NJ’s because some of my mastermind group reached out to me and said, “You know, I don’t resonate with the word intuitive because we are strong DRIVEN, HARDCORE, ambitious women.”They think of themselves like that, as do I, and they’re having a problem because NP’s are a bit more woo woo. They are big picture, think-outside-the-box-CREATIVES like all intuitives are, but when you start pairing the letters, this is when shit gets interesting. When you put them together in the archetypes like I am and talk about your Front Seat and your Back Seat, as I do in the Front Seat Life methodology, this is when stuff gets rich. The tip of the iceberg is the four dichotomies, and then it gets so much DEEPER.So, that’s what we’re doing today. I am talking about pairing NP’s and NJ’s and what their similarities are and what their differences are and how we all relate to each other.NJ’s are these driven, hardcore, AMBITIOUS, get it done, creative-vision-entrepreneurs-get-out-of-my-way kinds of people. They sometimes don’t resonate with the NP’s, which are a little WOO WOO, or a lot woo woo. They’re so full of ideas and they flit from thing to thing. They are very creative and absolutely huge free thinkers. They are very squirrelly. About 90% of my clients are P’s because they have all these amazing ideas, but they have a hard time focusing. So, the common denominator with NJ’s and NP’s is this creative, visionary, think outside the box aspect. All the different ideas are really about being intuitive. It’s just how the last letter, the J, and the P factor in and play a role. Here’s the deal. I don’t want J’s to think that they are not this person, the intuitives, because they are driven and ambitious. There is a SPECIALNESS, a uniqueness that 25% of the population has. And that is this intuitiveness.I hope this episode and the examples I share (blinders on v. blinders off) can help you to see the similarities, yet the differences that one letter, one dichotomy, in our personality can make. We’re different, and we’re similar. All right, I’m going to be doing BONUS EPISODES on the archetypes coming up next, and then I’m going to be doing all the myths for each of the archetypes. That is going to be fun. So, until next week, have a good one and thanks again for listening! For more about Jessica and her upcoming events, visit https://jessicabutts.comFollow her on Instagram @frontseatlife for daily motivation. The FREE Front Seat Squad: https://jessicabutts.com/squad/Not sure what your Myers Briggs personality type is? I am excited that you guys are here today. We are going to go on a JOURNEY over the next several weeks, and I am going to go over some basics with you. Those of you who are active listeners, (thank you, by the way), know that I recently went to my Mastermind group with Kate Northrup, and Amy Porterfield was also there. One of the things that I took away from that experience is that I’ve gotten away from my Myers-Briggs base a little bit. I’m too close to it or something. Do you guys do what I mean? And I’m coming back to it!I created FRONT SEAT LIFE, which I’m realizing is truly a REVOLUTIONARY new way to look at Myers-Briggs. For those of us that have trouble understanding this brilliant tool, this is a better way, an easier way for people to understand it. So, I’m going back to my roots a little bit here and today is an episode about flow and ease. Here’s the deal. The FRONT SEAT is the way God designed you. For every single personality type, there are two parts that will facilitate FLOW and EASE. You have more energy and I think you sleep better. I think you have better sex. I think you lose weight. I think everything in your life feels Flow and Ease. This is a little bit of an advanced topic today, so for those of you who don’t have any fricking idea what I’m talking about, I would highly recommend you go to my website, and take the personality assessment because otherwise, you’re not going to know what I’m talking about. And our Front Seat is the two middle letters of your Myers-Briggs personality type paired up. So, I’m an ENFJ, for example, the N and the F are called functional pairs. Those two letters in the middle make up a huge part of our “car.” The extrovert and introvert also have a place in it, but as I’ve said before, the J and the P don’t.These two middle letters are Flow and Ease. This is where I need, and you need to be spending 80% of your time. The way that I like to visualize these two parts of our personality, the Front Seat, it’s like a beach ball. So, if you’ve got a beach ball and you’re just kicking it down the beach, and there’s ZERO EFFORT, zero effort. You’re just walking, and you’re kicking it along. That is the visualization I have for your Front Seat. It is EASY. It is FLOW. It is GOD-GIVEN. This is the way that you were born into this world. And when we are doing things that we are NATURALLY DESIGNED to do, it is inevitable that it’s going to be Flow and Ease.If you have been trying to be “well-rounded,” and you’re fucking exhausted… STOP! I was one of those people trying to do all the God-forsaken things. It doesn’t work. There is a lot to understanding the difference between the Front Seat and the Back Seat, but focusing on your Front Seat, the Flow and Ease will help so, so much. Listen in to this episode as I dive into this extremely important concept. And keep tuning in for more, because I’m on a mission the next several weeks and it’s going to be awesome! Thanks again for listening, I love you all. All right Front Seat Lifers. I am coming to you hoarse, a little bit exhausted and FULL OF LOVE and excitement. I am in Laguna Beach, and just this morning, I finished my MASTERMIND with Kate Northrup. She is my coach for 2020 and I want to share with you my big takeaways from the three days with my mastermind. This Mastermind was with Kate and ten inspiring, INCREDIBLE women. I was very humbled to be in the presence of these women, and Kate brought in a guest speaker. The one, the only, Amy Porterfield. It was kind of an “over-the-top” moment. I mean, we were all shitting our pants a little bit.Anyway, I came away from this experience with a bunch of GOLDEN NUGGETS and loved being with these awesomely powerful women. You gotta listen to this episode to hear some of the GEMS, even if my voice is a bit rough. But one thing I realized was that we have the same systems and similar goals. We’re building the list, and we’re doing the webinars, we’re launching, we’re doing courses, we have groups, we’re coaching, we have podcasts. It’s the similar stuff, but we need to do it our OWN WAY. We need to do it our way, BASED on our personality TYPE. We all must understand our differences, own them, and then BE UNAPOLOGETIC about it.So, there’s no right or wrong way. It’s just we must know OUR WAY.When we can step into that and own it for the first time in our lives, it’s such an unbelievable GAME CHANGER because again, if Kate’s trying to be like Amy or Amy’s trying to be like Kate or I’m trying to be like them or any of it, it doesn’t come off authentic. We leave ourselves, and we muffle who we really are, and the world needs who we really are. There’s more to this episode, listen in. And I am definitely coming away from this super stoked to do more with personality type and help you all be unapologetically who you are, I’m going on a rampage!Stay tuned. There’s some BAD-ASS STUFF coming. In the next couple of weeks, I’m going to start throwing in some “TYPE TIPS” into each of the episodes so you can get a quick little nugget of juiciness around all the other juiciness.Have a wonderful, wonderful week! For more about Jessica and her upcoming events, visit https://jessicabutts.comFollow her on Instagram @frontseatlife for daily motivation. The FREE Front Seat Squad: https://jessicabutts.com/squad/The Front Seat Life FREEBIE from this episode: https://jessicabutts.com/me/Kate Northrup: https://katenorthrup.com/Amy Porterfield: https://www.amyporterfield.com/Not sure what your Myers Briggs personality type is? I get asked this question EVERY TIME I talk about personality type. 100% of the time, this comes up because it’s very, very common. The question is, “What do I do if I can’t figure out MY personality TYPE?”So, that’s what today’s episode is about, if you’re HAVING TROUBLE figuring out your personality type, what do you do to figure it out?And I have five main tips for you today. First, let me back up… It’s totally NORMAL. It’s hundred percent completely normal not to know fully what your type is, 75% of the population has trouble figuring out one of the letters of the four dichotomies. They can’t decide if they’re an INFP or an ENFP or an ESTJ or an ESFJ. There are LOTS OF VARIATIONS. And again, it’s a very, very normal thing. So, today’s episode is to help you and give you the main things that you need to do.Number one, ask yourself, WHEN did you take the assessment? I can’t regulate when people are taking the assessment, but if you are trying to get the most accurate read on you as a human being, don’t take it when you’re at a job that you hate, or when you are at work during a terrible day. I guarantee 100% it’s not going to come out accurately because you’re in that environment. It’s not an accurate assessment of you as your best self. What you’re going to get is a reading of YOUR BACKSEAT. Let me say that again. You’re going to get a reading that’s more in alignment with your backseat, which is the exact opposite of who you normally are.The number one tip is you must take the assessment when you’re MOST YOURSELF. That might be the first thing in the morning. It might be after a bath, or it might be after you play with your kids or while you’re on vacation. And do a SELF-ASSESSMENT. You want to get the most accurate reading, and the self-assessment is the most accurate because you can take your time and you can choose when you’re going to take it. You can head to my site for more info on taking a self-assessment or do a quick search on Google or YouTube, but this will help a lot.Next, if you are getting results showing consistency except for one letter, one dichotomy, READ THE DESCRIPTIONS for those types. You will likely have an “A-Ha! Moment” and you will know which one you are. Again, you can go to my site for more details. All right. Those are my top three tips, shorthand-style. There are more, and I encourage you to please listen in to this episode to get the rest, especially if you are still having trouble.Love you guys. Thank you so much for listening. Also, go into the Squad and introduce yourself. I want to know your type. I want to know if this helped you. Once a month, I’m doing some awesome, awesome, happy hour Q&A. We’re having some drinks. I’m answering all your questions. We’re connecting. It’s quite lovely. It’s 90 minutes of just awesomeness, so I can’t wait to see you — bye guys. For more about Jessica and her upcoming events, visit https://jessicabutts.comFollow her on Instagram @frontseatlife for daily motivation. The FREE Front Seat Squad: https://jessicabutts.com/squad/The Front Seat Life Event: https://jessicabutts.com/events/Not sure what your Myers Briggs personality type is? Hello! It’s just me today, and I want to go through what I’m currently doing in my life to do some ENERGY MANAGEMENT and what other people are doing.I’ve talked about this before, and I’m reading a great book on the subject, The Patriarchy Stress Disorder, but we as women are PREDISPOSED to be apologetic, to be codependent, to minimize ourselves, to oppress ourselves, and TO GIVE to others. It’s just part of who we are.If you’ve been listening to the podcast long enough, you know that when we are giving too much, when we’re too accommodating, we can stop managing our energy and become the “baby in the backseat.” Which is about 20% of the time. And that’s a lot of the time. So, what do we do? So, where in our lives, do we need to PROTECT our energy? And how do we do it?Number one, we need to BE ACCEPTING of people for who they are. How much time and energy do you waste on trying to change somebody or being irritated that that person who is not like you? We want people to accept us for who we are, but then who are we to judge them for who they are?All right, number two, FORGIVE people. Just forgive people. Do you know the amount of energy that it takes not to forgive someone? It is so not worth it. Judgment takes up space. Acceptance does not. Resentment takes up space. Forgiveness does not. And if someone apologizes to you, like take their apology.Okay, number three. LET THAT SHIT GO. Let that shit go. Anytime you’re holding on to stuff, it’s a waste of energy. And so sometimes you may need to make a conscious decision, “What can I let go?”Number four is DON’T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY, which is from The Four Agreements. Most of the time, it has nothing to do with you. Everybody’s dealing with their own shit and someone’s reaction to you likely has nothing to do with you.Alright, those are the heavy lifters when it comes to energy management, but let’s get real. How many of you are on Facebook or Instagram way, way, way, way, way, way more than you need to be? Hands all over the country, all over the world for that matter, are going up right now because we are almost all guilty of this, and it is an energy management KILLER.When we get on social media, and let’s be honest, what’s the first thing we do? We COMPARE ourselves to other people. “Oh my God, that person’s hair looks amazing. Or, wow, her butt is so on-point. Oh, her marriage is perfect. Oh my God, her business is killing it. Oh, she is traveling all over.”“Oh, she must be a millionaire. Oh, she must not have any problems. Oh, look how clean her house is. Oh, LOOK AT ALL THE THINGS… I am a fucking loser…”One of the biggest energy management tools is to TURN YOUR DAMN PHONE OFF. I need to turn it off because otherwise, I’m that person. I’m always clicking it, touching it, looking at it, all the things. So, I turn my phone off for multiple hours a day.How many of you have NOTIFICATIONS for every godforsaken app on your phone? Hands again, all over the country and the world going up… Turn that shit off because you’re reactive and when that ping goes off, we break whatever concentration we are in to go to our phone. And it takes like 20 minutes for us to get back to whatever task that we were doing, no matter the task. Try it for a month, a week, a day. Turn that off and BE PROACTIVE about when you’re going into your apps. PROTECT YOUR ENERGY.And that then that leads us to set some BOUNDARIES. I’m not gonna lie, I have gotten away from this a little bit lately. I have a problem with boundaries. I over-give and this just teaches others by responding to them that this is acceptable, and it’s not.Okay, next on the list… CODEPENDENCY. When are you jumping on the other side of the net, and where are you letting other people jump on your side of the net? It’s such a humongous topic, and I promise I will talk about it in upcoming episodes. Basically, what is your business and what is not your business? What are you spending energy on that is none of your fucking business. The last thing I cover today is COMPARTMENTALIZATION. I’ve done podcasts about this. There are videos in the Squad about this, but compartmentalization is being as FOCUSED as possible, one hundred percent doing one thing at a time.Being with your partner, eating a meal, being on your phone. Listening to a podcast, self-care, watching TV, going for a walk, playing with your kids, doing work, right? As women, we have a lot of compartments. When we are multitasking, when we are trying to manage and control things, we are all over the place. Making sure as much as possible that you are compartmentalized in the thing that you are doing is one of the number one energy management tools.I hope that you will take the time to listen to this episode and to try some energy management, it is such a key piece to getting the most out of every day, every relationship, everything.Join The Squad and ask me some questions. Start connecting with the community and me. I will see you next week. We have so much good stuff coming up on the podcast, so please share it. Love you guys. Front Seat Lifers, I am excited to bring you another sassy, INSPIRING, courageous woman, Ms. Jenna Faye. In less than two years, she and her partner Spencer scaled their business, Soul Meets Strategy™ into the multi-6 figure realm – and they did it all while traveling the world while being in a relationship together. She is one of my Soul Sisters, I swear, and we agree on so much, which comes through during our conversation. I mean, we both worked in Human Resources before we had our “epiphanies” and got out of the drudgery that was not us.“The light bulb kind of went off… wow, I can do and be something different.”This is a longish episode, but well worth it, and you gotta give it a listen. We talk about both of our rough rides along the entrepreneurial journey. There are bumps, and people BASH YOU and you go down. And when we are transforming, “It rocks other people’s world because it also shines a light on them that they are not changing, and MISERY LIKES COMPANY.”Evolving, TRANSFORMING, changing, it makes other people very uncomfortable. But don’t let that stop you.“When you first start, you don’t really have any evidence. You have to start somewhere with that action piece where you grow the muscle a little bit more, and then a little bit more.”Jenna tells us about the importance of ROI. It’s two things, the ROI, like Return On Investment, but also the RIPPLE OF IMPACT. And so many people aren’t making that kind of ROI that they’re capable of, or some people are way too much into the strategy which causes a disconnect in their vision.“The idea of Soul Meets Strategy was to bring those two things together, that embodiment, the connection, and the actual tangible strategy that it takes to MOVE THE NEEDLE FORWARD.”We go deep into the actual steps of Jenna’s philosophy, so similar to mine, because once you can connect and feel clear on your path, things will fall into place. And DON’T OVERTHINK IT either. So many people are like wronging themselves and thinking, “Is this the thing?”The “thing” is what EXCITES you now! And how can you deeply connect to that? The three steps that Jenna thinks are the most important: alignment, strategy, profitability. Everything can fall into those buckets and we dissect each during this episode.Jenna reveals that one of her mottos is “SIMPLIFY TO AMPLIFY.” I’m sure you probably agree, as I do, that most people are doing way too much shit within their business. They’re trying too many tactics, and then it leads to doing a lot of things, but none of them that well.Okay, there’s so much more to the awesome and amazing conversation we had, you must check it out, maybe a couple of times! I have my amazing, thoughtful, kick-ass, brilliant friend Sara Dean with me today. Sarah is the creator and mind behind Shameless Mom Academy. We have an INCREDIBLE CONVERSATION about what it’s like to stand up for being a woman in this world. How to have an opinion and a voice without sounding “bitchy.”Both of us are PASSIONATE about our messages, and it can get easy these days to get sucked into disagreements or even HOSTILE conversations, online and off, that can lead us down a rabbit-hole.We delve into examples that happen to us, and likely to you too every day. Scrolling through social media and getting caught up in a HEATED “DEBATE” over divisive topics is all too common, it’s a slippery slope. Sara and I talk about how to find a middle ground. Too often, if we stand up for our beliefs, we are labeled as “Bitches,” and if we sit back and are accommodating, we’re not doing ourselves or our beliefs justice. It’s often about asking yourself, “How can I insert myself into a conversation in a way that is powerful and meaningful. That doesn’t make everyone defensive, but that puts some clear boundaries in place?”Sara gives us some wonderful insight and tips on how we can effectively navigate these tricky situations. Because we’ve all been there, where we feel we cannot help ourselves in those kinds of conversations. You want to say something, but also, you don’t want to say it in a way where you’re going to be immediately dismissed because it’s a FLY-OFF-THE-HANDLE-BITCHY-BOSSY comment.Sara says, “I’m just conscientious around how I respond. But stay in ALIGNMENT with my CORE VALUES. When I’m going to insert myself into something on social media, I enter the conversation with curiosity and compassion.”And we also talk about how these strategies can be useful in other areas of our lives, with our partners, our children, our parents, and friends or colleagues. More and more, we seem to be running into difficult and divisive conversations.Sara and I also get into a deep conversation about how important this is when LEADERSHIP is considered. You’ve got to be able to say something and that sense of hesitancy to step up and say something will diminish your role as a leader. And ALL WOMEN ARE LEADERS in different capacities, but many of us don’t identify as such.Apologizing or minimizing or saying, “I’m sorry,” when there’s nothing to be sorry about is habitual with many women. If you’re not setting boundaries, not LEANING IN to difficult conversations, or saying things that might not be popular, even in your own home, you’re shrinking.People, this is just the tip of the iceberg, there is A TON packed into this episode, and I hope you get some fantastic value out of it. Again, thank you for listening and keeping the conversation going. I appreciate it.For more about Jessica and her upcoming events, visit https://jessicabutts.comThe FREE Front Seat Squad: https://jessicabutts.com/squad/Follow her on Instagram @frontseatlife for daily motivation. For Sara Dean and The Shameless Mom Academy: https://shamelessmom.com/To follow Sara on Instagram, go to @shamelessmomacademyBook: Patriarchy Stress Disorder: The Invisible Inner Barrier to Women’s Happiness and Fulfillment – https://www.amazon.com/dp/1544505779/Not sure what your Myers Briggs personality type is?
