    Ivy Insights

The Richest Men in Town podcast is an incredible long-form podcast that captivates listeners with its flexible structure and engaging conversations. From the first episode, I was hooked on the stories and experiences shared by both strangers and familiar faces. The questions asked during these interviews provide deep introspection, not only for the guests but also for the listeners. It's truly uplifting to hear tales of struggle and the strive for improvement. This podcast feels like sitting around a campfire when the atmosphere becomes real and raw. It's refreshing and enriching to be able to connect with others through this medium.

One of the best aspects of The Richest Men in Town is the honesty and authenticity that Mike and Tyler bring to each conversation. They have a remarkable ability to create a space where real conversations can happen, allowing guests to open up and share their triumphs as well as their defeats. This show celebrates victories while also acknowledging those who have helped along the way, especially giving thanks to the Lord. It is truly inspiring to listen to such genuine discussions.

However, one aspect that could be improved upon in this podcast is the frequency of episodes. As a listener who has thoroughly enjoyed every episode released so far, I find myself eagerly awaiting new content. It would be fantastic if there were more regular releases, allowing us listeners to dive deeper into these meaningful conversations.

In conclusion, The Richest Men in Town podcast is incredibly important in today's world. Mike and Tyler are doing something truly special by having honest conversations with genuine people, making connections that resonate deeply with their audience. This show is like fresh air for people of all faiths, providing valuable insights into life's journey filled with both struggles and triumphs. I am grateful for the opportunity to have stumbled upon this podcast and will definitely continue listening as it continues to inspire me on my own personal journey.

The people they're too exhausted to be any longer. The people they don't recognize inside themselves anymore. The people they grew out of, the people they never ended up growing into. We so badly want the people we love to get their spark back when it burns out; to become speedily found when they are lost. Bryant takes listeners back to the early days of his faith journey, going back to building his life as a young man on the underlined words of the Savior in his seminary scriptures. He also lets the guys in on some of the ups and downs that life is currently dealing him. Tyler and Mike go along for the ride and along the way, some great topics come up including:Living and teaching timeless values like discipline and diligenceDefining "Enough"Perfectionism and comparisonStanding for somethingDealing with lossBuilding families and homesThrow in some talk about waterbeds, Pro Wings, and MCI phone cards and Bryant paints a rich life picture indeed. To the Powell family, thank you for the lives you are living. Bryant Powell, thank you for sharing your story and showing up for your family and your community. Keep going brother!Show NotesQuotes...“Life with my parents and the other family members was natural and pleasant. Mutual support happened spontaneously and guaranteed the survival of people as well as of material and spiritual values. Until a few years ago, those bonds were so strong in the rural culture that they safeguarded ideals. The willingness to make sacrifices for others, to be able to wait for a reward, the devotion to work; for me, these are everlasting values. The joy of working together and sharing what was being produced turned work into a joyful liturgy, not a punishment. We all knew what was being done in the fields, in the garden, in the pastures, at home; planting, cultivating, raising children and helping parents. There was no wealth, but we were happy. Way back in March of 2021, the guys had Troy Blanchard on for Episode #43 "Choose Your Own Adventure" and Troy was incredible. What the rest of the world did not know at that time is that Troy and his incredible wife Daphne were on the verge of doing something pretty bold. They were packing up their US life to respond to inspiration. You see, they had both felt the prompting (in very different ways!) to disrupt, stretch, and grow and, in the end, it meant a family move. Not across the street or on the other side of town. Not even to another state. It meant a move to Ecuador. Now, Tyler and Mike take some time to sit down with Troy and Daphne to get an update and learn what the Ecuador move has taught them. To say that their notebooks were filled from the conversation is an understatement. Do you have any opinions that you would be reluctant to express in front of a group of your peers? If the answer is no, you might want to stop and think about that. If everything you believe is something you're supposed to believe, could that possibly be a coincidence? Odds are it isn't. Odds are, you just think whatever you're told." -Paul Graham"Overcoming the world is not an event that happens in a day or two. It happens over a lifetime as we repeatedly embrace the doctrine of Christ. We cultivate faith in Jesus Christ by repenting daily and keeping covenants that endow us with power. Chris has a deep bag of life experience, education, research, and resources and his time with the guys in this episode barely scratches the surface. Chris shares some remarkable parenting insights and lets Tyler and Mike in on his journey of faith, family, change, and finding his purpose. The result is 111 minutes of help for all of us to learn how to be better at being not doing. To Chris and your family, keep going brother and screen your phone calls because there's no doubt that the guys will be calling you again soon.  Show NotesWho Said It..."Holding a grudge is like drinking poison and hoping the other person dies." -John BythewayReferences...24/7 Dad Support GroupChris' therapy group Guidepost Therapy and Facebook GroupJohn Eldredge Wild at HeartMere Christianity by C.S. In This Episode:The guys share a couple of hours with Mike's neighbor Casey Kelly. Casey and his amazing wife Tracee are proud parents of three incredible girls and he is all in on living life as richly as he can each and every day. In their time with Casey, Mike and Tyler cover a wide range of topics, everything from date night pedicures (Tyler's not a fan) and their own mortality to meditation and the benefits of therapy. Casey lets the guys in on the highs and lows and learnings that life deals out along the way and the end result is an instant RMIT classic and a Master Class on the power of family, relationships, and being our best selves. We raise a glass to Casey Kelly. Thank you for living life the way that you do and for showing up willing to share your journey. We're all better for knowing you. Show NotesWho Said It..."THE WORLD IS increasingly designed to depress us. Happiness isn't very good for the economy. If we were happy with what we had, why would we need more? How do you sell an anti-aging moisturizer? You make someone worry about aging. How do you get people to vote for a political party? You make them worry about immigration. How do you get them to buy insurance? By making them worry about everything. How do you get them to have plastic surgery? By highlighting their physical flaws. How do you get them to watch a TV show? By making them worry about missing out. How do you get them to buy a new smartphone? By making them feel like they are being left behind. To be calm becomes a kind of revolutionary act. To be happy with your own non-upgraded existence. To be comfortable with our messy, human selves, would not be good for business.” -Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig"Part of what makes music work is the space between the notes. Without these pauses, we have a hard time making sense of exactly what we are hearing, and the effect is just a lot less profound. If your day-to-day feels anxiety-ridden and noisy, consider how adding white space might help you come back into alignment with the most important things." -Stephen Lawson on Inc.comReferences...Episode #21: "Everybody's Got a Side Yard"Jim Rome's podcast: The Reinvention ProjectThe 10/10/10 for Tough Decisions by Chip and Dan Heath7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen CoveyWhy Do I Live Without a TV? by Trent Hand"Stop This Train" by John Mayer"Young Forever" by Jay-Z"Right Now" by Van HalenBipolar DisorderPsst...Check out our website or visit us on our Facebook and Instagram platforms.Mike and Tyler are both members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  If you would like to learn more about the Church or their beliefs, we invite you to check it out by clicking here.
