Every five minutes, someone somewhere in the world is diagnosed with MS. But getting that diagnosis can be challenging. And the evidence is clear that early intervention makes a difference. The sooner someone can begin a disease-modifying therapy, the better their outcome is going to be. World MS Day is May 30th, and this year, World MS Day is focused on eliminating the obstacles that get in the way of a timely and accurate diagnosis.    I thought World MS Day would be the perfect time to invite Meredith O'Brien to join me to discuss her new book, Uncomfortably Numb 2: An Anthology for Newly-Diagnosed MS Patients. We'll also explain how the drastic cuts to Medicaid funding that were approved by the U.S. House of Representatives will affect hundreds of thousands of people with MS, and how the additional changes made to the Affordable Care Act will leave millions of Americans without health insurance. We're sharing the results of a study that may have identified how B-cells infected by the Epstein-Barr Virus migrate into the brain. And we'll explain why that could be the activity that triggers MS. We'll tell you about a study that makes the case for treating pediatric MS with Ocrevus. And we'll share the results of a study that discovered an association between inflammation-causing molecules and frailty among people with relapsing forms of MS. We have a lot to talk about! In Deutschland erkranken jährlich etwa 2.400 Menschen an Morbus Hodgkin. Shawn shares his personal journey from battling imposter syndrome and suicidal thoughts to discovering self-love through psychedelic experiences. Despite a successful career, with numerous patented ingredients and a bestselling biohacking book, Shawn reveals that his accomplishments were once tied to conditional love and recognition. It was during his first psychedelic journey that he realized he was worthy of unconditional love. This epiphany became the cornerstone of his transformation. The Turning Point: Embracing Psychedelics Inspired by thought leaders like Tim Ferriss and Dave Asprey, Ben Greenfield Shawn ventured into the psychedelic realm. His first experience, facilitated by Tah and Kole, was both terrifying and enlightening. Surrounded by warmth and acceptance, Shawn experienced a profound shift—learning he could be loved simply for being himself. Integration: The Ongoing Process The psychedelic experience was a catalyst, but Shawn emphasizes the importance of integration. Post-ceremony efforts involved distancing from unsupportive relationships, embracing conscious uncoupling, and reevaluating career choices. These changes, along with ongoing self-work and facilitated sessions, helped Shawn develop deeper relationships and inner peace. Science Meets Spirituality: Enhancing Experiences As a formulator, Shawn began exploring how supplements could augment psychedelic journeys. But, what happens when we don't see these signifiers That is exactly what we're going to get into on this week's program. Our guest this week is Theresa Rodgers and she lives with three invisible disabilities. They include Epstein-Barr Virus, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and a MTHFR Gene mutation. Chronic mystery illness isn't just about the ten cases a year of an unexplainable, random and confusing onset of symptoms after staying on a cruise ship somewhere near a remote island. Chronic mystery illness is everywhere, every day and rampant. There's not a person on this planet that won't eventually experience it at some point in their lifetime, even if it's just in their last years here. Why is everyone getting sick? There are a lot of factors for each individual and a lot of variations and differences. The list is large: fragrances, Toxic Metals, dead drinking water, chemicals, chem trails, fungicides and stress, just to name a few. There is one group of exposures over the years in modern times that has pushed people's health to the edge and its pathogens. Pathogen exposure is at the top of causes of mystery chronic illness and pathogens love to thrive when the body is weakened by metals, a variety of toxins and even unknowingly poor choices of foods. One of the leading top pathogens causing a considerably large amount of chronic illness is EBV—Epstein-Barr Virus. Medical Medium information brought to light that the Epstein-Barr Virus caused a host of different numerological symptoms, ones that can be even debilitating for so many. EBV is partly responsible for the suffering womenkind have endured throughout the past hundred years. Just scratching the surface, everything from Lupus, chronic fatigue, hot flashes, thyroid conditions, PCOS, Fibromyalgia, MS, tingles, numbness, Tinnitus, vertigo, anxiety, Lyme disease and so much more. EBV has dominated greatly in the health and wellness of not just millions but billions of people in the world at this point in time who are challenged with at least one symptom caused by the Epstein Barr Virus, not to mention the trillions of dollars over time it has and will cost in the health care industry. In this episode… • Learn about how EBV and EBV symptoms are skyrocketing right now, and how these symptoms are seemingly illogical to doctors. • Discover how people have been conditioned to view a symptom or condition as the problem itself, when really there is an underlying cause. • Discover that before Medical Medium information, everyone thought EBV only caused Mono, and not the other conditions it causes as well. • Uncover the initial “dormant” period that the EBV goes through as it floats around in the bloodstream. • Learn how the EBV actually has inhuman patience and waits for the opportune time to strike. • Learn about the different stages of EBV, such as stages 2, 3, and 4, and what occurs during each of these stages. • Uncover how betrayal can actually lower the immune system and how this can affect EBV. • Learn what stage of EBV is Mononucleosis. • Discover the power of the immune system. • Learn about the different foods that the EBV thrives off of. • Uncover the goal of EBV and how you can empower yourself and your body against viral and pathogen attacks. All this and more, tune in and don't miss out on this important episode. You can revisit this episode anytime you need it. For more information visit www.medicalmedium.com

This week we will discuss severe Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS).  Our guest is Galen Warden, the mom to six adult children, one being her son James Strazza.  Galen is now a full time caregiver to James due to the severity of his disease.  Here are her words:  "James was a healthy young man until he very slowly, because of medical ignorance and poor advice, became weaker and sicker following a severe case of the Epstein Barr Virus when he was just 19. After a few years, he slowly lost his ability to drive, to stand in his kitchen and prepare food for himself, then to walk more than a few steps, to use an electric wheelchair, and finally, to even sit up if carried onto a commode. He's been 100% bed bound for three years. What is this bizarre disease that so many medical doctors prefer to pass off as psychological, psychosomatic or self-inflicted? Myalgic Encephalomyelitis was, in the past, known only as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. An unfortunate name because it's so easily dismissed as simple chronic fatigue, familiar to many with autoimmune diseases. ME/CFS is entirely different. It's a disease not known, not taught, but not rare. Just rarely acknowledged, and more rarely understood.... ME appears to be a post-viral disease. The onset can be caused by Epstein Barr, Dengue Fever, Covid 19, and other viral illnesses. Now, research is so urgent because Long Covid is impacting thousands who are unaware of the potential that they could end up like James. Post-viral Covid could easily continue to progress to Severe ME/CFS if patients are not aware of how to manage their overwhelming weakness and fatigue. They must rest and never push themselves. They need the early support of their families to pick up the burden of making meals, driving them, helping them rest as much as possible. Because, if they don't allow them to rest now, caring for them will become a very heavy burden. These patients, with their desperate families, their disbelieving caregivers and puzzled doctors, are why I'm compelled to add documenting our experience to my long list of weighty obligations."

Cognitive dysfunction is a common symptom of multiple sclerosis, affecting more than half of the people living with MS. While cognitive issues like changes in memory, difficulty maintaining attention, slower information processing speed and executive function may not be among the most disabling symptoms of MS, they may be among the most disconcerting symptoms. Whether it's your short-term memory, the ability to find your way to a familiar destination that you've gone to hundreds of times, or your ability to follow conversations with friends or business colleagues, these are the kinds of real-world situations that can bring someone to a hard stop, recognizing that they're changing in profound ways that aren't outwardly apparent. And that's a scary feeling. Fortunately, researchers are making real progress in developing ways for people living with MS to improve their cognition. This week, Dr. Nancy Chiaravalloti joins me to talk about what researchers are learning and what types of cognitive rehabilitation are available today.  Dr. Chiaravalloti is the Director of the Center for Neuropsychology and Neuroscience Research and the Center for Traumatic Brain Injury Research at Kessler Foundation. Dr. Chiaravalloti's research is focused on ways to stimulate new learning, memory, and processing speed. We're also sharing some promising results from a preclinical study of an investigational Epstein-Barr Virus vaccine (And we'll explain why this is so important to the MS community!). Dr. Nuriel Moghavem will take us through a day in the life of an MS Fellow. We'll share the disappointing results of the Phase 3 clinical trial for Evobrutinib. And we'll tell you about super-small biological robots that seem capable of doing some amazing things -- including encouraging the growth of healthy nerve cells to replace damaged nerve cells. We have a lot to talk about! Are you ready for RealTalk MS??! Today, I am blessed to have here with me the Founder of The Energy Blueprint, Ari Whitten. He is an energy and fatigue specialist who focuses on taking an evidence-based approach to energy enhancement,  a nutrition, exercise, and natural health expert, and a #1 best-selling author.  He has been studying nutrition and holistic health for over two decades. He has a Bachelor of Science from San Diego State University in Kinesiology (specializing in fitness, nutrition, and health). He also has a background in exercise physiology and fitness and holds two advanced certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Corrective Exercise Specialist and Performance Enhancement Specialist. In addition, he recently completed the three years of coursework for his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, an education which rounds out all aspects – nutrition, fitness, and psychology – of his approach to optimal health. Ari is a tireless researcher who has obsessively devoted the last 20 years of his life to the pursuit of being on the cutting edge of the science of health and energy enhancement. For the last six years, he's been working with many of the top scientists and physicians on the planet to develop the most comprehensive program in the world on the science of overcoming fatigue and increasing energy — The Energy Blueprint. In this episode, Ari first speaks about his Epstein Barr Virus diagnosis and how that took him down a rabbit hole of energy optimization. One way to improve chronic fatigue is by growing more mitochondria; Ari explains how this is possible. Then, Ari dives into melatonin and tips for fixing a circadian rhythm disruption. Tune in as we chat about the importance of hormetic stressors, Eat For Energy, and Ari's products from The Energy Blueprint.  Purchase Ari's new book Eat For Energy here: https://bit.ly/3Fka6VB Join my upcoming FREE keto LIVE training here: http://www.ketosismasterclass.com  / / E P I S O D E   S P ON S O R S  PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. Unfortunately, Ari got very sick with Epstein Barr Virus and mononucleosis in his mid-twenties. He lost about thirty-five pounds in the span of a month; he couldn't eat because the back of his throat was so swollen.  Ari was left with chronic fatigue; it shifted his entire life.  So, Ari started to focus on the world of energy optimization; he became obsessed with energy science. Conventional medical doctors had no information to offer Ari.  After doing research, Ari found that science actually does not support the idea that adrenal fatigue is a significant cause of chronic fatigue. Well, Ari realized that no one truly understands what is causing fatigue.  [08:45] The Key To Overcoming Fatigue Is Growing More Mitochondria  Finding ways to grow more mitochondria and strengthen your mitochondria is a massive key to the puzzle of overcoming fatigue.  The mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell.  We are taught to think of mitochondria as these mindless energy generators. Something you may not know is the mitochondria have a dual role beyond energy production, which is just as important as their role in energy production.  The mitochondria also help with energy regulation.  Your energy levels are a function of the degree to which your mitochondria decide if you're safe or if you're under attack.  [17:50] Hormetic Stressors Will Make Your Mitochondria Bigger and Stronger  Hormetic stress is how a transient metabolic stressor works to stimulate beneficial adaptations that ultimately increase resilience and resistance in the face of a broad range of other stressors.  Basically, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.  By exposing yourself to moderate stressors within your body's capacity, you make your body more robust and more resistant.  Hormetic stressors are vital for challenging our mitochondria and stimulating them in a way that makes them bigger and stronger. [27:30] Is Your Body Under Attack? Your Brain Will Create Sickness Behavior When cells are under attack, they shift all their resources to defense mode.  Cells will go into defense mode to protect themselves. They also go into defense mode as an evolutionary adaptive mechanism to help the body's energy and resources be redirected towards defending against the threat. When we have lots of immune activation and elevated levels of inflammatory cytokines, the brain responds by also creating sickness behavior, which includes fatigue. When your brain creates sickness behavior, it protects you from over-expending energy and depleting resources.  [42:40] The Importance of Melatonin: What You Need To Know You get 50 to 70 percent suppression of melatonin secretion by the brain in the evenings due to simply being in a typical home under standard indoor home lighting.  Melatonin is a vital hormone for protecting your mitochondria and protecting your brain's neurons.  If you're chronically suppressing melatonin at the cellular level, you will have chronic melatonin deficiency.  Sadly, melatonin doesn't get the respect that it deserves.  [1:05:15] Ari Is Hypersensitive To Melatonin Supplements - Are You?  Ari is hypersensitive to melatonin if he takes it in supplement form. After polling his audience, about 25% of people are sensitive to melatonin.  People who take melatonin for a significant time will sleep poorly after coming off of it. It will take people a few days for sleep to normalize without taking melatonin.  AND MUCH MORE!
