He also has a lot of really helpful information to learn from about Hollywood. I loved talking Hollywood insider tea with him today and also learning from his bad experiences what he learned. He has some thoughts on Kim Kardashian. I hope you enjoy how special this show is. We discuss what his experience was like being arrested, which was as wild as Wolf of Wall Street, and then also some of his Hollywood stories with LINKIN PARK, Chester Bennington, Beyoncé, JAY-Z, and Mariah Carey, a unique perspective for sure! Notes: Even though Kate wanted a resolution, the song insisted on being what it is -- a way to stay in the storm. She talks with me about how that felt, and what happened as she kept listening. We explore further -- how do you become a songleader when that's not how you view yourself? How do you write songs, when that feels scary-impossible? What is it about singing together that offers healing, and why is Kate herself drawn to doing things that help people in difficult moments? Where do songs live? I left this conversation with respect and excitement tumbling over each other... I hope you, too, enjoy hearing Kate's perspective. Songwriter Info: Kate Valentine is a registered nurse and founder of Singing Mamas - a national non-profit for maternal well-being, bringing singing groups across the UK and the globe to women and mothers. Kate started with one group in 2011 and while struggling as a single mum to 3 sons and working nights shifts, she set about to get singing mamas free and referred to all new and expectant mums across the UK. There are now more than 200 leaders across 8 countries, with Singing Mamas programmes being delivered in over 50 local authorities, either as community groups or on-prescription through the national health service (NHS). Kate is most passionate about bringing the 'untrained' musician into the work of song sharing, and is driven by a determination to re-normalise a singing culture, where it has been lost. Sharing Info: Yes -- The song is free to share but Kate always welcomes financial and/or networking support if/when folks are so moved. How did Olivia surprise us so much before, and can she repeat her success a second time? Sam chats with Lindsay Zoladz, pop music critic at The New York Times, about the dualities of Olivia Rodrigo: She's an artist who is both quiet and loud, young and old at heart, and a former Disney child star whose lyrics are a gut punch. We also trace her inspirations from Alanis Morisette to Taylor Swift and explore why we can't get enough of Olivia's music in a year that's seen the pop culture power of women and girls. Four years ago, the release of this film marked the directorial debut of Olivia Wilde who up until this time had mostly been well-known as an actress.  And she really does make quite a memorable debut with this raunchy "One Crazy Night" comedy about two soon-to-be-high-school graduates (Kaitlyn Dever, Beanie Feldstein) who are the smartest students in their class and the best of friends.  As one of them just found out that they are not the only graduates in their class who are going on to bigger and better things, they decide to spend this one last night before graduation to show that they can also have "fun" with the best of them.  And what results is a night of parties, drugs, homicidal cabbies, fancy yachts, and various other hijinks!  Also along for the ride are co-stars Jessica Williams, Mason Gooding, Diana Silvers, Molly Gordon, and Billie Lourd.Host: Geoff Gershon Special Guest Co-Host: Isabelle Gershon Editors: Geoff and Ella GershonProducer: Marlene Gershonhttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/

The start of the 90s saw an ongoing tension between edgy – often dark – hard-rocking sounds, and the brighter, mainstream pop aesthetic. Industry expectations and marketing placed most female artists in the latter of these categories. But along came Alanis Morisette – confessional in her writing, raw in her authenticity; she not only changed the game for female artists, but also revolutionized a new post-grunge, hard-rocking sound. Coupling her experiences as a successful teen-idol with a deep desire to experience her own uncompromising artistic vision, she released one of the best selling albums of all time, Jagged Little Pill. The iconic 1995 album was announced with its revolutionary lead single – “You Oughta Know” Subscribe to the email list and get yourself some free goodies: https://producelikeapro.com  Want to create radio ready mixes from the comfort of your home? It's kind of crazy that we ever think we can do this thing called life alone. And yet we operate in this fantasy on the daily--with all sorts of negative consequences. We isolate. We fear. Or the opposite: We think we know it all, and well, we all know how that goes. One of the negative consequences of this "pull yourself up by the bootstraps---all on your own" mentality is that we kid ourselves into thinking everything is just fine, fine, fine (queue up Alanis Morisette for all you fell 90's music lovers). And this can make us numb to our reality. Until it all kind of falls apart. Turns out we can even be "fine" after something that we'd all agree is pretty traumatic. But at what cost?  In comes Debbie Harrell, resiliency coach with a hell of resiliency story of her own. Like me, and many others, she convinced herself that everyone was fine....until it wasn't. And when the reality of it all hit her, she re-awoke to something she's known all along: that we do not do this thing alone. And as f-ed up as the world can be, we can also do some pretty beautiful things together. And we're going to have to if we want this thing to continue. You're going to love this conversation as we get real about what happened and what life and hope and the collective good can do.  Find Debbie and join her collective to do good!
