Preaching for the First Sunday of Lent, Ana Gonzalez, OP, offers a reflection on standing our ground in faith: "Just as Jesus and the Israelites were tempted, we will too be tempted, we will be challenged and we, like Jesus, must respond. We must remember that Satan's objective is to create division, destroy our faith, and separate us from the love and will of God. Are we paying attention? Are we willing to put into action the Word that holds our beliefs?"Sister Ana Gonzalez is a Dominican Sister of Peace and a current Graduate Student at the Boston College Clough School of Theology and Ministry. A proud Fronteriza, Sister Ana calls El Paso, Texas, con mucho orgullo, her home. Before pursuing a Master's in Theology and Ministry with a concentration in Latino Pastoral Ministry at Boston College, Sister Ana ministered at Albertus Magnus College, a founded ministry of the Dominican Sisters of Peace. This week, Dr. Marc Camille talks to us about his career path and approach to development as a college president. He sees himself as a chief storyteller and talks to us about ways he has built a strong culture of philanthropy while planning the Centennial Celebration of Albertus Magnus College! Dr. Marc M. Camille took office as the 14th President of Albertus Magnus College in June 2017. His career includes more than two decades of senior administrative experience at Catholic colleges. His leadership is inspired by Albertus Magnus' distinctive, values-based Dominican mission and the College's legacy of prioritizing education opportunity for those who might not otherwise have access. Prior to joining Albertus Magnus, Dr. Camille earned a national reputation for strategic enrollment management and marketing expertise and thought-leadership. Dr. Camille's presidency has seen Albertus Magnus launch an ambitious growth plan, deepen engagement within the greater New Haven area, and adopt a bold new strategic plan, Albertus 2025: Lighting the Way to a Second Century, setting the stage for the College's Centennial Celebration in 2025. Dr. Camille's leadership has prioritized deepened commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and in 2023, Albertus achieved federal designation status as an Hispanic Serving Institution. A comprehensive fundraising campaign is underway to coincide with the College's 2025 Centennial. Dr. Camille earned his Bachelor's degree in English at Rollins College, his Master's degree at the University of Miami, and his Doctorate in Higher Education Management at the University of Pennsylvania. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/devdebrief/support
Paul Robichaud is professor and chair of English at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut. He is the author of "Pan: The Great God's Modern Return" which explores how Pan has been imagined in mythology, art, literature, music, spirituality, and popular culture through the centuries. At times, Pan is a dangerous, destabilizing force; sometimes, a source of fertility and renewal. His portrayals reveal shifting anxieties about our own animal impulses and our relationship to nature. Always the outsider, he has been the god of choice for gay writers, occult practitioners, and New Age mystics. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/out-of-the-blank/support

We Hit It Out Of The Park With New York Yankees MLB.com Beat Reporter, Bryan Hoch and Hoodoo Brown Barbeque's, Alan Stinson Bryan Hoch is the New York Yankees MLB.com beat reporter. Covering the team on a daily basis has provided Bryan a chance to witness many great moments and seasons. One of the greatest individual and season long accomplishments of recent memory was last year when New York Yankees slugger, Aaron Judge chased the American League's home run record which was held for 61 years by another Yankees great, Roger Maris who in 1961 had broken Babe Ruth's record of 60. On October 4, 2022 Judge entered the record books as he hit home run number 62. Hoch was there to witness this momentous moment and the other home runs leading up to it. He documents it all in his new book, 62: Aaron Judge, The New York Yankees, And The Pursuit Of Greatness. The book details all of the home runs, but offers a much deeper look at baseball's history and many other players who are a part of it. Bryan's impressions of the late New York Mets broadcaster, Bob Murphy and Back to the Future's, Doc Emmett Brown are a bonus not to be missed. Alan Stinson is learning what it takes to be a top-notch pitmaster. His training occurs at the extremely popular restaurant, Hoodoo Brown Barbeque where his brother, Tyler has earned the title of Sausage King. We met some of the people from Hoodoo Brown at the Jeff Michner Foundation BBQ Benefit at Pig Beach and were eager to have them on the show. Alan was presented as a perfect show guest since he played college baseball at Connecticut's, Albertus Magnus College. We talked with Alan about baseball and barbecue, but one interesting fact we covered was that Alan is a vegetarian and has never tried any of the meats he is learning to cook. Since taste is not a way he can tell if his barbecue is good, he must rely on other senses and Alan shares that. We conclude the show with the song, Baseball Always Brings You Home from the musician, Dave Dresser and the poet, Shel Krakofsky. We recommend you go to Baseball BBQ, https://baseballbbq.com for special grilling tools and accessories, Magnechef https://magnechef.com/ for excellent and unique barbecue gloves, Cutting Edge Firewood High Quality Kiln Dried Firewood - Cutting Edge Firewood in Atlanta for high quality firewood and cooking wood, Mantis BBQ, https://mantisbbq.com/ to purchase their outstanding sauces with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the Kidney Project, and for exceptional sauces, Elda's Kitchen https://eldaskitchen.com/ We truly appreciate our listeners and hope that all of you are staying safe. Truth is our own internal wisdom that defines who we are. Finding our own truth means figuring out the difference between what we've been told we should be, versus who we really are. Often times in the past our true feelings, passions, opinions, and experiences were ignored, rejected or just not encouraged. When we can relearn to identify what our own truth is, we are able to put into action what our heart and soul desires. In Episode 29, Babes Jenn and Lyndsay sit down with Susan Rice and Mickey Fromkin to talk about The Adventuresses of Sherlock Holmes and how ASH came to be. Who are The Adventuresses of Sherlock Holmes you may ask? Founded by a group of women students at Albertus Magnus College in the late 1960s and led by Principal Unprincipled Adventuress Evelyn Herzog, ASH achieved early notoriety when its members picketed the Annual Dinner of the Baker Street Irregulars in protest of the BSI policy of excluding women. For the next 25 years ASH thrived with its own (coeducational) dinner on the same January night as the BSI event. When women were finally invited into the BSI in 1991, selected Adventuresses were among the first to be invested. Both Susan and Mickey not only share the story of ASH, but also their own personal stories of how they became members and found other like-minded women who share their love for our favorite consulting detective. For more information on The Adventuresses of Sherlock Holmes you can visit or you can email Susan Rice at susan221bee@gmail.com. You can also subscribe to the ASH publication, The Serpentine Muse. The Muse is a quarterly journal of ASH activities and (mostly) light-hearted Sherlockian and Victorian topics. Contents include event reports, short articles, toasts, contests, poetry, drawings, and photos of, and by, ASH members and others. It is not necessary to be a member of ASH to subscribe or contribute material for publication in the Muse. For more information, click
