The American Dream fails people. There are other ways to make the dream happen though. Devon Kennard talks about the grueling NFL schedule and fitting in writing a book as he creates his own America Dream. Did you know they do 50-60 hours per week, plus playing on Sundays? We talked about how much NFL players really make after taxes and for how long they usually make it. The average career is 3.5 years, and injuries are always possible. On the bright side, more NFL players are talking about investing now than there used to be! When cash flow is the problem, the stock market isn't the solution. Devon and Lauren then transition into talking about how he got into real estate. His first deal was a partnership deal where they each only brought $12k to it, and this was during his rookie year! The first deal is a great learning experience. He learned right away to invest in a different area because he couldn't scale there. He's expanded into Cleveland, Kansas City, Tennessee, and Florida. Devon is focused on small multi-families right now. He uses both cash and leverage, depending on the deal. Lauren then asks about syndications, which Devon invests in as well. What's important there? Vet your partners! The two even covered creative financing. Finally, they discussed his future plans for both the NFL and real estate. You'll walk away from this episode with great takeaways, even if you're not a professional athlete. About Devon: Devon Kennard is a 9 year NFL veteran, real estate investor and author of the new book It All Adds Up — Designing Your game plan for financial success. He has purchased 28 properties in his personal portfolio as well as invested in over 30 real estate syndications across the country. Matt Strickland's story is one on which the America Dream is built on. His 15 years in the military and 7 years as a small business owner exemplifies the qualities of patriotism, hard work, family responsibilities, Christian values, service and community involvement. He has seen the horrors of the battlefield and shed blood, sweat and tears building up his family's new business. He then fought and won against the regulatory system that tried to close down his business under tyrannical and nonsensical covid rules. Now Matt is running for the Virginia State Senate to be a voice of reason and common sense for his community and beyond. Join us this episode to see what the American Dream should look like in the 21st century and you will be inspired to make a difference wherever you are around the world. At the age of 17, Matt Strickland joined the United States Army to escape the gang violence of the neighbourhoods where he was raised. Inspired by his grandfather, who served as an Infantryman under General Patton in World War II, Matt enlisted in the Army in 2001. After completing basic and advanced training, Matt received orders to his first duty station, 25th Infantry, at Ft. Lewis, WA. He reported to 25th Infantry on September 10th, 2001, not knowing the next day, life as we once knew it would change forever. Matt knew he had a full life ahead of him, but he was ready to give it up in defence of his country. Matt spent most of the next ten years in Iraq & Afghanistan defending his country. Matt's service to his country includes multiple deployments as a private military contractor as well, serving on Blackwater's Counter Assault Team until 2010 when he decided to accept a position as an Intelligence Analyst back in Virginia. In 2014, when ISIS began sweeping through Iraq, Matt could not sit back and watch, so he deployed once again to join the fight against The Islamic State. In 2016, after fighting ISIS for two years, Matt hung up his combat boots. The previous two years allowed Matt to reflect on the legacy outside of combat that he wanted to leave for his children. Cooking has always been one of Matt's hobbies and biggest passions, and owning a restaurant was always his ultimate goal. Matt opened his first food truck in 2016 which quickly became a success, and he and his wife, grew from one truck to three trucks in just over a year. Two years later he sold the food trucks and opened the doors to the restaurant version, and it continued to grow in success. Everything was great until 2020 when the government began using the Coronavirus as an excuse to control society. Matt continued to open without restrictions, regardless of the consequences, he and his wife opposed the unconstitutional mandates and the restaurant was filled with Patriots from open to close. Despite numerous threats and attempts to shut them down by the state and federal government, he remained open and stood with the people. The Attorney General of Virginia sued Matt in an attempt to shut their doors, but he won, restoring his hope for the country's future. Through his fight against the tyrannical government, Matt realised there was a void in Virginia politics and that catalyst sparked his interest in running for State Senate and with him being a fifth-generation Virginian, his state and his country mean everything to him. On Tuesday, July 26th 2022, we had King Khang on our show. Khang was born and raised in Vietnam and moved to America at the age of 9 with his family. By the age of 18 Khang had dropped out of high school, moved into a shed behind a mobile home park, and was working a factory job making $8.50 an hour. With the American Dream on his mind Khang jumped into real estate at the age of 27 with no help, no connections, and no experience. After 6 months of grinding day in and day out Khang closed his first deal for $50,000 and the rest is history. Today, Khang runs a lean wholesale operation with 7 virtual employees that consistently nets 100k+ per month. Khang has also built a growing portfolio of 16 rental units and built a massive social media following of 4 million across all platforms. Khang is the perfect example of the America Dream, with hard work and determination anything is possible. Let's go get this Monaaay!!!

Recorded February 25, 2020 Yuval Levin is director of Social, Cultural, and Constitutional Studies at the American Enterprise Institute and the author of A Time to Build: From Family and Community to Congress and the Campus, How Recommitting to Our Institutions Can Revive the America Dream. The book and this conversation lay out the importance of institutions—from the military to churches, from families to schools—as these institutions provide the forms and structures we need to be free. Levin also explains why political correctness is rampant in the culture, why America’s elites have created a closed-off aristocracy in order to transmit privilege generationally, and why it is vitally important that we as a society recommit to rebuilding and maintaining the institutions that provided the foundation for American society for 200 years. Programming note: this interview was recorded before the COVID-19 crisis reached the United States, so it is not mentioned.
The art of storytelling in American lore tends to follow a character who starts at the bottom and ends up making it all the way to the top. That’s the story of the America Dream! Our society loves that fairy tale so much and was so prevalent throughout the early part of our history. However, during the 50s and 60s, the storytelling in America went thru a radical evolution and suddenly highlighted the tragic and the sad ending. What happens when the characters in the story find themselves withering away on a dead-end street going nowhere in a dead-end town? In this episode, we are talking about a great American tale about the backside of barlife, where goodtimes and party anthems slowly devolve into emptiness and desperate single-serving relationships. "The American Dream came fast and went fast, and now it's dead."For native Americans it was the the house and two car garage, 2.4 kids and white picket fence, all on a factory job wage. For migrants, it was the Land of Opportunity. But it seems the American Dream is dead and buried, leaving Americans economically, mentally and spiritually bereft. In this special we talk about failures in the economy, the education system and perception that led here, whether the America Dream's heyday was all it was cracked up to be, and a new dream for the future.

Are you ready to face the hard truth? In the first episode of the podcast, Andrew explains that young people now have bigger goals than any generation before them. Unfortunately, the traditional path to “success” that has been preached to them their whole lives is misleading. We’ve been told achieving the “America Dream” requires a specific traditional path, but that is not the case today in America. People are not ready for what’s really coming. The current landscape is changing radically. The purpose of this podcast is to bridge the gap between what we’ve been told and what it really takes to achieve success in the ever-changing landscape of sales, entrepreneurship, and the American Dream. In this second of a five-part series on the legal side of park ownership, we’re going to discuss the SAFE Act and Dodd-Frank, two pieces of legislation that single-handedly deprived thousands of people the America Dream of homeownership. Learn the history of these laws, how they have altered the manner in which park owners can provide housing to customers, their potential repeal, and why it’s probably too late to really make much of an impact without a significant governmental push. If you own a mobile home park, it’s mandatory that you understand these regulations and learn how to navigate them.
The American Dream is back, or at least President Donald Trump says so. Once again every American, regardless of background, race, gender or education, can, through sheer hard work, make it to the very top and become rich. Did the idea of the America Dream, in which nothing is impossible as long as you work hard, evolve with the ‘founding fathers' of the nation? Is it intrinsic to the country's identity?
