Many Americans just assume vets always vote for the candidate who talks toughest about national defense, or offers strong positions on policies related to terrorism. While in some cases that may be true, the biggest question this year is still quite simple- Do vets favor Trump or Harris? A recent survey of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) members, offers an interesting glimpse at where this group stands, just days before the election.IAVA, CEO, and Army veteran Allison Jaslow reveals the survey results and shares how the survey breaks across categories like gender. The survey also tells a unique story about IAVA members, who are younger than other veteran groups, and after their service in Iraq/Afghanistan have often done the heaviest lifting during the Global War on Terrorism.More from IAVA here:https://iava.org/Check out Connecting Vets for more military news and veteran stories:https://www.audacy.com/connectingvetsConnect with CBS Eye on Veterans, Host, Phil Briggsphil@connectingvets.comFollow:@philbriggsVet@connectingvets See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The Church of Rome don't want you to hear this! Book of Enoch is very important gospel left out because it deals with things like basically the first recorded description of an alien abduction! LOL basically Enoch is picked up by some extraterrestrials brought into the heavens he sees how heaven is set up and he describes it! He describes archangels and fallen Angels awaiting trial! He describes a lot of things that the church doesn't want us to talk about or be aware of. For this reason the book of Enoch only a part of the Ethiopian Bible, even though he is mentioned in the Bible. It is said in other research I've done on this podcast that Enoch is also known as metatron, and Hermes trismagistus. The stakes are high! God bless #tedlieu ! Everybody should be calling the justice department 202-514-2000 and demanding why six justices have not been charged with perjury yet?????? They lied about Roe v Wade they lied about immunity and said no man was above the law!!!! I'm not! He should f** definitely drop out of the race he's a war criminal duh dragged us into genocide just like he dragged us into Iraq Afghanistan and dragging out this Ukraine conflict when all he has to do is refer Putin to the international criminal court! Old grandpa Brandon knows he is a war criminal! That's not to say that we should all be calling on BOTH CANDIDATES TO DROP OUT OF THE RACE SO WE CAN GET A REAL PRESIDENT!!!!! Robert Reich is always the voice of reason! I'd really appreciate you, professor! One of my favorite Berkeley professors :-) when I'm president he shall be in my administration he did a great job before, and I would see which position he would like to serve in! And put him on a short list for that or even just let him choose whatever f* position he wants in my administration Everybody should be tagging all the media and asking this question!!!! TELL BOTH CANDIDATES TO DROP OUT OF THE RACE AND REOPEN NOMINATIONS IT'S ONLY FAIR AFTER ALLTHE S*** THEY PUT US THROUGH!!! Come on Jess you are just trying to suck up to the powers that be in the corporate democratic party structure so you can move up the ladder. Look at the best interest of America! I don't have a following at all help help I'm being suppressed!- but it is critically urgent that we DUMP BOTH these corrupt as unfit candidates for president now!!!! BOTH ARE UNFIT —one is a freaking traitor and serial child r@pist and fraudster etc etc and the other is a war criminal! Biden dragged us into genocide, bypassed Congress to support war criminal Netanyahu! Stop propping up biden he can't even prop himself up he's too f** old and dementia out even step Annapolis doesn't think he will last another 4 years! So get another f* candidate Democrats Jesus the stakes are too high and Biden is barely beating this monster in the polls??? Duh

After considering military service, she decided to keep playing sports at the next level, but she quickly decided college was not for her. That's when she joined the Army and became a combat medic, eventually with the 82nd Airborne Division, serving in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Later, she became a nurse and then a cancer patient herself. Yet even after losing a leg, Elmlinger persevered and represented the U.S. at the Paralympic Games just a few years later. In this edition of "Veterans Chronicles," Elmlinger shares how the 9/11 attacks changed the trajectory of her military service and how her combat medic training suddenly became much more real. She also describes her service in Afghanistan, meeting and connecting with the Afghan women, and what the Afghan men thought about her. Then she explains how different and how much harder the same job was in Iraq, why there was often little combat medics could do to help, and the painstaking efforts she and her teammates took to to find some personal effect to present to the families of every fallen service member.Elmlinger then recounts her decision to become a nurse and work with wounded veterans in San Antonio and how that work helped to prepare her to be a patient there as she battled cancer in her leg. And finally, she updates us on how she became an elite adaptive sports athlete - representing the U.S. at the 2021 Summer Paralympic Games in Tokyo. And she'll do it again this summer in Paris!

'Contrary to what was widely expected at the start of the present century, the world has not seen the end of major wars, confirming that Plato was right when he wrote that “only the dead have seen the end of war.”' These lines come from a new book, just published, titled ‘Conflict: The Evolution of Warfare from 1945 to Ukraine.' The book was written by Lord Roberts, a widely respected UK author, and General Petraeus, former CIA Director and former Commander of US Central Command. In this conversation, Simon speaks to Andrew and David, who discuss some key ideas and themes from the new book. We hear their analysis on some lessons learnt after seven decades of conflict following WW2, including some reflections on the Vietnam War, Iraq/Afghanistan, and the current Ukraine conflict. Daniel Glenn served in the United States Navy as an EOD (explosive ordinance disposal) Officer. Roughly 50% of war casualties in Iraq & Afghanistan between late 2011 & 2020 were attributed to IED's (improvised explosive devices), Daniels job was to disarm & dispose of those devices - high stakes but high reward when executed correctly. Since leaving the Navy, he completed a masters degree as a Schwarzman Scholar (the oldest person to do so at that time), broke a record for the fastest mile in an 85 pound bomb-suit & donned that same suit to complete a half marathon all to raise funds for veterans, he now works as chief of staff for fintech company GoodLeap LLC. My first meeting with Daniel was in March 2023. We shared the stage at a 3 day speaking summit in Sydney, he was the most effective speaker I had ever watched live. His story held weight & his experiences were inspiring. His life philosophy sang to the tune of 'face your fears, face your enemy (your own weakness), seek adversity, believe in yourself, hear the call to action: your life is today'. A philosophy that inspired much of our conversation, alongside the tale of his remarkable story & the ups & downs of a life that has thrust Dan into the face of danger & deep introspection on a shockingly regular basis. Alex dives into the significant impact the middle layer of any organization can make and it is the Sr. NCOs, LTs and CPTs on the battlefield that use high-levels of creativity to solve our biggest problems. The closeness to the problem makes you invaluable, but it is also the thing that can prevent others (especially the public) from seeing the value one is truly able to create. Through his time as a management consultant and intelligence officer, Alex was able to involve himself with entities like the National Security Defense Capital and KKR, that would ultimately allow him to better understand how dual-use applications can be a way for him to continue to Serve and create meaningful returns for investors. Alex believes that life is not just about measuring risk, but instead aligning your purpose with Teammates who you want to do the fun and hard things with. In the world of VC it is easy to be mired with the returns and numbers, but the "doing right" part for a world that is inherently good, is not lost on Alex and the J2 Team. Exposure to war and what's going on in our world can leave you wondering if we're going to be okay. Alex strongly believes that the world is good, but it requires Good People to get to work and keep it that way. This week's episode features Ken Sample (Capt. USN retired). He spent a large portion of his life in service to others. Ken laughs as he tells how his drive to become a doctor very much came from his dear wife. Ken spent overwhelming time as a General Surgeon for the United States Navy. Some of this time was spent forward deployed and some of his time was stateside in places like Camp Lejeune. Ken also ran his own private practice in between reserve time and deployments. Surgeons like Ken are vital to the warfighting mission. In the Corps when a man is down on the field, we operate under a rule referred to as the “golden hour”. This means, that once self-aide, buddy-aide, and Corpsman-aide are conducted, if the Marine is wounded badly, we need him/her to a trauma unit in less than an hour. If we can accomplish this mission, the rule is that he/she will survive. There are of course exceptions to that rule. People like Ken Sample exist and operate in the gray... without these people, with these skills, our battlefield KIA numbers would not stay as low as they are. It was an honor and a pleasure to sit down with Ken and learn about a different side of war, the side of saving and giving new life to the National Treasures holding the line.

In the past 12-18 months, the Marine Corps has had some divisive remarks penned concerning the adaptation of the force. Retired Generals and warfighters have been expressing concern over the New Force Design. There are several articles bashing the new design and others that show passive-aggressive concern.  I was interested in understanding the “why” behind some of the changes, so I began to investigate the topic. I found a few articles from one of the most senior Marine Gunners currently serving. Gunner LaRose served as one of the representatives from the Marine Corps, on the Pentagon's Close Combat Lethality Task Force. While reading his works, I was impressed by the way he painted new technologies. I was going to do an episode on the information I found, but Gunner LaRose can do a much better job of that than I can. This episode is my aim at bridging the two sides of the coin.  After 30 years of protecting this nation, making his way to the top of the enlisted ladder, and becoming a Gunner, LaRose has continued to serve.
