Jen's talking to writer Kate Atwell and director Diane Page about bringing women's cricket to the stage in Testmatch, and in Jenny Off The Blocks, there are some new Invincibles in town. There's Cher and a drunk dog in BT, and the "what I did on my day in Cambridge" that nobody asked for in SOTW. Meanwhile, in Rated or Dated, Mickey's trying to make fetch a thing, as we watch 2004's Mean Girls. Welcome to season 12 of The Shift! Season 12! How did that happen?!My guest today is the actor hyphen screenwriter hyphen comedian hyphen novelist - all the hyphens! - Andi Osho. You might recognise her from Line of Duty or Blue Lights or Michaela Coel's I May Destroy You or Death in Paradise or Shazam! or Good Omens or Sex Education or or or! And as if that's not enough, in her previous incarnation as a standup comedian, Andi won the Funny Women Award. Well, now she's turned her hand to fiction. Her new book, Tough Crowd, is a laugh out loud romantic comedy about a subject very close to my heart: what it means to be a step-parent - or sparent as she so brilliantly dubs it. And, crucially, how to survive it.Andi joined me to talk about being a teenage dork, how getting back in touch with her estranged dad gave her renewed respect for her mum and giving herself permission to be creative. She also told me about checking in with your heart, why it's OK to mourn your younger self and how she realised she didn't want kids but she did want a family. We also, of course, talk about the challenge of taking on someone else's kids. I think this is the first time we've discussed this, which is ironic, in the circs. If you enjoyed this episode. To discuss the background to this case and how women's bodies have become a battleground during conflict, Anita hears from the BBC's Geeta Pandey from Delhi. She is an award-winning comedian, writer, actress and on top of that she is the only person to win Celebrity Mastermind, not once, but twice.    For the past eighteen years Andi has graced our screens in a variety of ways from comedy shows such as Live at the Apollo and Mock of the Week, to dramas such as Michaela Coel's HBO/BBC, I May Destroy You and BBC 1's Line of Duty.    In this episode, we discuss everything from Andi's drive to continue to innovate herself even when the road ahead is not clear, her frustration with the comedy world as a Black woman and how she is now at peace with the idea of not having her own children.    We're also joined by dietitian Ruth Wood, who gives us some insight into the best foods and nutrients for us and why that 7pm spin class might not be the best idea after all.

His guest is the actor, podcaster, author, blogger, erstwhile stand up and opera singer, Andi Osho. Not only has she had immense quiz show success for Rich to be jealous of, she’s also been in his favourite show, Death in Paradise. Apparently she’s in Line of Duty too, but come on, Death in Paradise. Also find out why she became a stand up and why she stopped, what motivated her to go to America and why she came back and how she’s managed to base all three central characters in her new novel “Asking for a Friend” on herself. In today's episode Mark gets to finally feel like he's in his comfort zone by doing the thing he's probably done more than anyone else... compèring. To help Riki learn more about it he's gotten the help of the great compère and host Thanyia Moore. Compèring is an important part of any comics toolkit and it can definitely seem intimidating at times. Check out the episode to get some tips on compèring and whether it's for you.  Thanyia is an actress, comedian, writer and presenter from London. In 2018 she joined the likes of Katherine Ryan, Andi Osho, Sarah Millican, Miss London Hughes, and Desiree Birch when she was crowned Funny Women Champion, Beating over 400 women in the process. She has been performing comedy since 2012 and is affectionately known as one of the hardest working comedians on the circuit. She is one of the only females in the UK who works both the mainstream and Black comedy scenes simultaneously. This position was cemented when she reached the semi-finals of the BBC New Comedy Award in 2018.

Series 4, Episode 4 (Hoover): Andi Osho and Matt Edmonson join Pappy's for the last episode in the series, recorded at the Phoenix Fringe festival! Within it you will find Matthew ripping off a much more famous panel game, Tom and Ben musically ripping off one of the most important rock bands ever, Matt ripping off his clothes (in story form) and Andi almost having her hair ripped off. We can't extend the 'ripping off' analogy as far as the beef, which involves a cat. Again, we are lucky enough to have some superlative show art courtesy of Sally Grosart. You should definitely check out her website here and follow her on Twitter too: @scallyg http://www.weepaperpeople.co.uk If you want to be our best pal, then please help us spread the word about the show: tweet about it, enthuse on Facebook, comment on iTunes or tattoo the website url onto your forehead. With John Wilson. Hajj: Journey To The Heart Of Islam, at the British Museum, is the first major exhibition dedicated to the pilgrimage to Mecca, one of the Five Pillars of Islam. Historian Thomas Asbridge and Mehdi Hasan of the New Statesman give their verdict. The film Like Crazy was a hit at last year's Sundance Festival, winning the Grand Jury Prize. British actress Felicity Jones - who played Emma in The Archers - won best actress for her starring role in this largely improvised film, which tracks a long-distant relationship. Rebecca Nicholson reviews. Last year, writer and actor Chris Larner accompanied his chronically ill ex-wife, Allyson, to the Dignitas clinic in Switzerland. His one-man show about the experience won a Fringe First Award in Edinburgh, and he's about to take it on a national tour. He tells the story of its creation, and discusses what it's like to go straight from playing a pantomime dame to this more reflective show. Comedian and actress Andi Osho is now an established figure on the stand-up circuit. She tells John about why she thinks her early acting career featured so many medical roles - and what drew her to comic performance. Producer Rebecca Nicholson.

John and his own ineffable fiancé Derek return for our weekly coverage of Good Omens Season 2 with Episode 2 "The Clue".Another great fun tale featuring a comedic take on the trials of Job.Based on the book Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman and starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen we're discussing each of the six episodes of this series one a week. This is our spoiler filled discussion so as always make sure you've watched the episode before listening to the podcast.Good Omens 202 “The Clue” synopsisIn 2500 BCE in the Land of Uz, Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) arrives to stop Crowley (David Tennant) from bestowing the nicest guy in the world, Job (Peter Davidson), horrific disasters to befall him, including his herd of goats. He learns that Crowley is there by permission of The Almighty (Frances McDormand) and the trials are intended to test Job's faith as a bet between God and Satan.Aziraphale, feeling pity for him, is horrified by the prospect of heaven and hell destroying Job's children, and after some convincing he and Crowley trick the angels into thinking that Job's children are dead, although hidden in lizard form. When the Archangels reveal the tests to Job and reward him with double his losses, Crowley and Aziraphale hatch a plan. Crowley disguised as Uzu the Sihite, a professional midwife and cobbler, pretends to extract Job's wife, Siti's (Andi Osho), ribs to kid, while transforming his actual children from lizard form. Aziraphale confirms that all birthing was in accordance with how it happened in the Garden of Eden and that the children are in fact new replacements. But Aziraphale feels great guilt for thwarting the will of God, and wonders if he did the right thing. In the present, Jim, short for James, short for Gabriel (Jon Hamm), seems to be enjoying his job as bookshop assistant so much he begins singing the Buddy Holly hit Everyday. Could this be The Clue to Gabriel's amnesia? Meanwhile, Michael (Doon Mackichan), Uriel (Gloria Obianyo), and Saraqael (Liz Carr) arrive in Soho upon tracing the miracle to the bookshop. However, due to the miracle Aziraphale and Crowley performed, they cannot recognize Gabriel, and leave, still suspicious of Aziraphale, who assures the assembled hosts that the miracle was for love between Maggie (Maggie Service) and Nina (Nina Sosanya). As Shax (Miranda Richardson) offers to drop the hostility towards Crowley in exchange for the information on where Gabriel is; while Aziraphale commandeers Crowley's wheels to embark on a road trip to The Resurrectionists, a pub at 66 Goat Gate in Edinburgh to investigate his brand new Clue leaving an exasperated Crowley to watch over the bookshop and Gabriel. Our top signs of the apocalypseEach episode we'll go through our top moments of the episode called the Top “Signs of The Apocalypse”.
