What does it take to build a brand that doesn't just cover culture—but defines it? In this episode, we sit down with Mike Tresvant, EVP of Brand Partnerships at Complex, to unpack how the iconic media brand continues to thrive in a shifting digital landscape. From ComplexCon's 300+ brand activations to the company's resurgence post-acquisition, Mike shares how a challenger mindset, authentic storytelling, and cultural fluency keep Complex ahead of the curve. We talk about what brands get wrong when trying to tap into culture, the new skills every marketer needs in the next five years, and why “selling relevance” is the real metric of success in today's attention economy.Key Takeaways:// Culture > Content: The future of marketing lies in creating cultural moments, not just media impressions.// The Challenger Mindset: Complex succeeds by thinking like an underdog—staying agile, experimental, and deeply connected to youth culture.// Earning Relevance: Brands can't buy their way into culture—they have to show up authentically and add value.// ComplexCon's Blueprint: Over 300 brand partnerships prove that when commerce, content, and culture intersect, real engagement follows.// Skills for the Future: Marketers who blend cultural intelligence with business acumen will lead the next wave of brand partnerships.// The Power of Community: Success comes from listening to your audience and co-creating experiences that reflect their world.Connect with Mike: LinkedIn____Say hi! Peso Pluma BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Peso Pluma has dominated headlines and social media this past week, making waves both musically and culturally. Fresh off a high-profile performance at ComplexCon Las Vegas 2025, one of the top stories is his collaboration with GAS Trading Cards and ComplexCon, producing a specially designed collector's item featuring Peso Pluma himself. This exclusive trading card, described by Complex as a way for fans to “own a piece of that moment,” comes in various collectible editions with some containing rare gold foil and personal autographs. The card rollout caught intense buzz, with Complex noting Peso's role in “redefining regional Mexican music for a new generation.” The collectible trend further cements his status as not just a star performer but a cross-media influencer courted by lifestyle and branding ventures. On the live scene, Peso Pluma played a major role at this year's ComplexCon, while also being included in upcoming top-level shows at venues like Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, a clear testament to his staying power as a touring force, with box office demand that rivals global superstars according to venue announcements. Social media lit up after his appearance, with fans and critics praising his on-stage charisma and genre-busting collaborations. This hype fueled real-world fan activity too, as LAist reported on a Peso Pluma lookalike contest that drew hundreds to Echo Park in Los Angeles, a testament to his outsized cultural footprint. The community event showcased just how quickly Peso Pluma's persona and style have become iconic, inspiring both adoration and playful imitation.Romantically, Peso's personal life is again a topic of interest, especially after WECB Urban and other outlets confirmed he and Kenia Os are now very publicly a couple, sharing affection and music clips across TikTok and Instagram. Their displays—smiles, pet names, and candid moments—have delighted fans and fueled a new round of “couple of the year” predictions online. This follows the much publicized end of his relationship with Nicki Nicole earlier this year, a breakup that itself earned major coverage from People and other international media. However, Peso also continues to navigate the complexities that come with stardom in regional Mexican music. Rolling Stone pointed out ongoing cartel threats to major regional stars including Peso Pluma—a sobering reminder of the realities many artists in the genre face. Authorities in Baja California are reportedly monitoring these threats closely, but Peso Pluma's continued prominence and resilience amidst these concerns only add to his mythos. At a time when Latin artists are drawing global attention, Peso Pluma's multifaceted presence—from music, branding, and public life to social media chatter—both reflects and propels the movement. Headlines this week are flooding the feed with tales of his success, style, and staying power, marking him as one of the most significant Latino cultural figures in the world right now.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Peso Pluma BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Peso Pluma is everywhere right now and the last few days have just added new chapters to his swiftly expanding story. On October 25 at ComplexCon in Las Vegas, Peso Pluma made genuine history as the first regional Mexican artist to ever perform at this major cultural festival, a breakthrough that headlines have hailed as both a genre-defining moment and a sign that Mexican music is truly global. The festival, attended by 70,000 fans according to News 3 Las Vegas, featured performances from stars like Young Thug, Yeat, and Central Cee, but it was Peso's set that helped redefine the weekend, solidifying his place not only as a star but as a trailblazer for Latino artists in cross-genre spaces. ComplexCon gave out exclusive GAS trading cards featuring Peso Pluma and other performers, capturing his live energy in collectibles now coveted by fans. While at ComplexCon, Peso Pluma also paired up with Cymbiotika Wellness Bar for a full-on business and celebrity wellness moment. Cymbiotika launched a signature Peso Pluma smoothie at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, described by Resident and Travel and Tour World as a nutrient-rich blend tailored to reflect his lifestyle and his commitment to performance and health. The launch saw devoted fans lining up for the first taste, branded merch, and a coveted meet-and-greet with the artist and his manager, George Prajin, who happens to be an investor in Cymbiotika. The collaboration underlined how Peso's profile now transcends music, weaving him into wellness, hospitality, and luxury—each appearance amplifying his global influence and signaling a shift in how celebrity partnerships shape both brands and cultural identity. The smoothie event's coverage emphasized Cymbiotika's aim to merge wellness and pop culture authentically, and Peso Pluma's own words at the debut—about balance and energy—struck a chord with fans following his intense performance schedule. On social media, Peso Pluma's ComplexCon history-making performance and business collaborations have been the talk of fan accounts and influencers. He remains one of Mexico's top-followed musicians, constantly referenced by major Instagram accounts, with collaborations and milestone mentions popping up across TikTok and Instagram—especially in connection with events like Belicofest, the November 8-9 regional Mexican festival in Arizona where fans anticipate yet another big moment for Peso Pluma amid the genre's stateside boom.Looking ahead, while some buzz surrounds personal matters—rumors swirl about his long-term relationship status and digital cleanups by previous partners, notably singer Nicki Nicole, per Hola—those haven't been substantiated and remain speculation. As of now, the story of Peso Pluma in the past few days is epic new performances, entrepreneurial partnerships, and an escalating cultural narrative that makes him not just a music superstar but also a lifestyle influencer whose moves point to greater things on the horizon.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Peso Pluma BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Peso Pluma has had a blockbuster week packed with major headlines, historic milestones, and buzzy public moments that showcase why his star continues to rise in the Latin music industry. On March 6, he was honored as the reigning champion at the 32nd BMI Latin Awards in Miami, where he received the coveted BMI Champion Award for his transformative impact on música mexicana and for a sound that has captivated millions worldwide, according to Variety and AOL. Peso Pluma was also named regional Mexican songwriter of the year, a distinction previously held by Grammy-winning producer Edgar Barrera. Notably, several top tracks penned or performed by Peso Pluma, including Bipolar, Bye, El Gavilan, Igualito a Mi Apa, Luna, and his much-streamed Bzrp Music Sessions Vol. 55, dominated BMI's list of most-performed songs, sealing his legacy as a hitmaker. The ceremony doubled as a celebration for Double P, Peso Pluma's own label. Tito Double P, one of his signees and a close collaborator, won the BMI Impact Award for co-writing some of Peso Pluma's early defining hits like El Belicon and AMG. Peso Pluma delivered a heartfelt speech, crediting his team, family, and fans for supporting this massive movement in regional Mexican music, highlighting a pivotal moment not only for himself but also for the genre's mainstream evolution.Days before, Peso Pluma made history by performing at ComplexCon 2025 in Las Vegas, marking the first-ever appearance of a regional Mexican artist at the culture-shaping festival. As News3LV and Las Vegas Weekly reported, ComplexCon set a new attendance record with over 70,000 festival-goers, as Peso Pluma shared the lineup with major hip-hop acts and influencers. This is widely viewed as a breakthrough that could open doors for other Mexican acts on global cultural stages—an event with potential long-term significance for both Peso Pluma and the industry.Meanwhile, the Peso Pluma lookalike contest in Los Angeles drew over a hundred fans to Echo Park Lake, as reported by LAist. The playful event was a testament to his sweeping popularity and impact on youth culture, with contestants judged on their dance skills and Peso “Bella” impersonations. Social media buzzed with clips from the contest, and Oscar Reyes from Downey walked away with the grand prize, later proclaiming Peso Pluma “one of the greatest artists right now.”Not all chatter was about music and fandom—Peso Pluma's romantic history had spillover headlines as ex-girlfriend Nicki Nicole trended after her breakup with soccer star Lamine Yamal. Hola! recalls the couple's brief but memorable red carpet moment at last year's Grammy Awards, but confirms their relationship ended months ago amid viral cheating accusations against Peso Pluma. While Nicole swiftly deleted all traces of the romance from Instagram, Peso Pluma focused squarely on his career milestones, staying clear of public comment and letting achievements speak louder than gossip. In sum, Peso Pluma's past few days have been marked by cultural crossover triumphs, record-breaking public appearances, and an award season sweep that further cements his reputation as the face of modern Mexican music. With the flood of recognition from industry insiders and explosive crowd reactions, it's clear Peso Pluma's next chapter is unfolding before a global audience, where breaking records and inspiring fandom are quickly becoming his new normal.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Peso Pluma BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Last night at the 2025 Billboard Latin Music Awards in Miami, Peso Pluma and Kenia Os owned the blue carpet as the most buzzed-about couple of the event. Outfitted in bold style—Peso in a sharply tailored tux with his trademark undone bowtie, Kenia in a glamorous, sheer black dress with a striking blue feathered stole—they stunned the cameras and set social media abuzz. According to Hola!, their chemistry was undeniable both on the carpet and onstage, where Kenia made headlines presenting Peso Pluma with the ceremony's first-ever Vanguard Award. The couple's public affection, including a kiss in view of the crowd, quickly trended online. Latin Times emphasized the magnitude of the moment not just for their romance but for fashion: Peso wore a Jacob & Co. Caviar Tourbillon watch valued at $880,000 while Kenia dazzled in $400,000 diamond earrings, marking them as the evening's style icons.Peso's performance of his new single Turn Off the Light (or Apaga La Luz) drew accolades for his energy and the significance of the genre-bending corridos tumbados, which the Vanguard Award specifically recognized. His acceptance speech, filled with praise for Kenia and the artists behind him, was widely shared across music blogs and social platforms, further solidifying his leadership in Mexican music's global ascent.Businesswise, the buzz continued in Las Vegas, where Cymbiotika Wellness Bar at Fontainebleau created a Peso Pluma signature smoothie. PR Newswire reports that the launch coincided with Peso's appearance at ComplexCon 2025, where he attracted a massive crowd and personally interacted with fans at meet-and-greets. The exclusive smoothie features ingredients like oats, coconut milk, liposomal mushrooms, and dates—marketed as the ultimate pre-show or pre-workout boost, reflecting Peso's emphasis on wellness and daily performance.Complex highlighted Peso Pluma as a top draw at the star-studded ComplexCon alongside names like Yeat and Clipse, underscoring his broad crossover success. On the flip side, AOL reported Peso Pluma recently canceled an Indiana concert following cartel death threats—a reminder of ongoing security concerns that periodically impact his touring schedule. While unconfirmed rumors about beefs or splits have circulated online, all verified reports point only to a flourishing career and high-profile romance. For now, Peso Pluma remains not just a trending artist but a genuine force in music, fashion, and business, with his latest headlines echoing far beyond Latin pop.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Peso Pluma BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Peso Pluma has been making headlines on several fronts over the past few days, demonstrating his continued rise as a cultural and commercial force in Mexican music. Most notably, his name surfaced in The New York Times as a symbol of the modern corrido movement—his smash hit Ella Baila Sola was referenced by the Mexican Music Council director to highlight the shift away from narcocorridos, following a government-backed campaign intended to promote nonviolent and hope-filled Mexican music. This context matters: as municipalities enforce new bans on cartel-glorifying lyrics, Peso Pluma's mainstream success with non-narco themes suggests he is positioned as a model for the next generation of regional Mexican artists. On the business side, QueOnnda.com reports Peso Pluma is now listed as Mexico's third-richest singer, with an estimated fortune in 2025 of twenty million dollars, trailing only Luis Miguel and Thalia. The article credits his wealth to high-paying concerts—between sixty-eight and one hundred eleven thousand dollars each—digital platform royalties, advertising, a real estate purchase in Guadalajara, and the foundation of his own label, Double P Records. This quick ascent is attracting significant interest from record labels and industry stakeholders eager to capitalize on his momentum.Major live events further cemented his superstar status. The Phoenix New Times just confirmed that Peso Pluma is headlining Belicofest on November 8, joining a powerhouse roster of Latin acts, food vendors, and fireworks—a coveted slot that underscores his commercial draw. Meanwhile, Complex.com highlights that he will perform at the high-profile ComplexCon event in Las Vegas on October 25-26, sharing the stage with heavyweight acts like Young Thug and Central Cee. These appearances are expected to keep Peso Pluma firmly in the public eye through the end of the year, with fans and media alike watching for surprise collaborations and setlist reveals. On the brand partnership front, Threads.com hints at a new business collaboration—a Prime Energy drink flavor reportedly branded under Peso Pluma's name, suggesting his commercial appeal is expanding rapidly beyond music into lifestyle products. There's also plenty of noise on social media, with fan accounts and festival promoters spreading video clips and speculative posts about upcoming collaborations and new music, though none of these reports have been verified in the mainstream press at this time.No major scandals or controversies have broken in the last few days, and speculation remains largely confined to potential future projects and festival setlists. All told, Peso Pluma's recent activities point to his growing imprint as both a musical innovator and a shrewd businessman, navigating the shifting cultural landscape while consolidating his presence in arenas, charts, and branded products.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Peso Pluma BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Peso Pluma continues to dominate headlines and stages in what can only be described as a defining moment in his young but meteoric career. Fresh off selling out two nights at Los Angeles' YouTube Theater this week—the LAist described the scene as fans from all over Southern California flocking to see the “regional Mexican musical phenom,” celebrating with elaborate outfits and the kind of energy usually reserved for rock icons. His new album Génesis continues to make waves, debuting at number three on the Billboard 200 and furthering his crossover appeal to both Spanish and English-language audiences, something fans interviewed at the shows say is revolutionary for Mexican and Latino representation in the mainstream. In the words of one excited supporter quoted by AOL, Peso Pluma is “the Mexican Elvis,” a title that reflects his unique voice and larger-than-life stage presence, sparking a sense of community pride, especially among first- and second-generation Latinos who see their culture reflected in his music.Business activity for Peso Pluma is equally robust. He has just been announced as a major performer at the 2025 Belicofest—Phoenix New Times confirmed he'll be taking the stage in early November alongside the likes of Neton Vega and Xavi among other Latin hitmakers. The festival, set for November 8 and 9 near Phoenix, features what organizers promise will be a spectacle of music, food, pyrotechnics, and wrestling, clearly targeting Peso's core audience with a celebration of contemporary Mexican culture.Next, Peso is one of the highlighted live acts at ComplexCon in Las Vegas this October 25 and 26, where he shares top billing with Young Thug, YEAT, and Central Cee. Complex reports this is another sign of his status as a “main event” artist, cementing his influence not just within the Mexican or Latin spaces but on the larger North American music scene. On social media, Peso's name is everywhere, with fan accounts and official handles sharing videos from the LA shows, festival lineups, and luxury branded merch. No confirmed controversies or unverified rumors have surfaced in recent days, and the buzz is overwhelmingly positive. For biographical significance, these public appearances and sold-out performances, the crossover on a major album chart, and his role as a festival headliner indicate a major career inflection point for Peso Pluma. Multiple sources agree he is not just a star to watch, but possibly the new face of Mexican music's global presence.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Peso Pluma BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Peso Pluma has remained a cultural phenomenon this week, turning heads with both his career milestones and the devoted fan energy that surrounds him. ComplexCon Las Vegas has just announced its 2025 lineup, prominently featuring Peso Pluma as one of its main stage headliners alongside other global stars like Yeat and Central Cee, according to ComplexCon's official lineup release. This places Peso Pluma among the major forces in converging music, fashion, and street culture, a testament to his growing long-term influence and power to draw crowds at some of the industry's most boundary-pushing events. Fans should mark their calendars for October 25 and 26, when he'll be taking center stage at the Las Vegas Convention Center as ComplexCon continues its tradition of showcasing the hottest acts and exclusive streetwear releases. The hold Peso Pluma has on popular culture was also on display in Los Angeles this weekend, where LAist reports on a sizable turnout at Echo Park Lake for a Peso Pluma lookalike contest. Organized by local fans inspired by similar global celebrity lookalike trends, the event drew around 100 participants and spectators, reinforcing Peso Pluma's unique status as a generational icon whose persona resonates so deeply that people are literally eager to become him for an afternoon. The contest reportedly judged participants not just on style but also on their ability to channel Peso's dance energy and signature charisma, further underscoring his status as not just an artist but a symbol of community and belonging. On social media, the magnetism of Peso Pluma's live shows is again a talking point, with a Threads post from September 19 going viral thanks to an attendee who admitted never understanding corridos until experiencing Peso Pluma live and coming away a fan. This direct fan testimony is illustrative of his expanding reach beyond traditional regional or genre listeners, converting skeptics through sheer stage presence. While there have been no explosive scandals or controversies in recent news, the last high-profile story connected to his personal life was the much-discussed breakup with Nicki Nicole earlier this year, following widely circulated images of Peso Pluma with a mystery woman at the 2024 Super Bowl. People magazine and other outlets detailed that Nicki Nicole confirmed the split with an emotional message on Instagram referencing lost respect, with the breakup taking place shortly after the couple had been seen and celebrated together during several major award shows. All told, this week affirms Peso Pluma's status as a defining figure in contemporary music and youth culture, with his every movement—onstage or off—continuing to shape headlines, fill events, and ignite discussions both in person and across social media platforms.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

The Tiësto remix of “Morena,” along with collaborations like “Asquerosamente Rico” and “Desvelada,” have received strong reception, and his work with fellow stars such as Netón Vega signals an ongoing push for innovation. I am SO excited to share this podcast episode, where I had the great pleasure and opportunity to speak with the CEO of Fanatics Events, Lance Fensterman. Lance was the president and founder of ReedPOP, which helped produce some of the biggest conventions, such as New York Comic Con, Emerald City Comic Con, Complex Con, Star Wars Celebration and PAX. Since becoming CEO, Fanatics Events created WWE World at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, WWEW World at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, and the inaugural Fanatics Fest at the Javitz Convention Center last year.Avid listeners of this podcast know that I like to go long form and go down rabbit holes and tangents, but for this one, we only had 20 minutes and so I did my absolute best not to do that this time! However, in the beginning of the conversation, we learn that Lance is an avid Minnesota sports team fan, and we talk about how one of the differences he has noticed with attendees of Comic Cons and Fanatics Fest is the inherent tribalism that occurs within sports, which does not necessarily exist in the worlds of Pokemon, Star Wars, etc. These 20 minutes just went by so quickly, but I had SO much fun with this one and I hope that you enjoy my conversation with Lance!
