Daily Boost Podcast Show Notes Stop Chasing More Hours: Your Secret Time Hack Is Here April 16, 2025 | Episode 5073 Host: Scott Smith Episode Description Ever feel like there aren't enough hours in the day? In this eye-opening episode, Scott debunks the myth of "creating more time" and instead shows you how to master your perception of time. You'll discover practical strategies to make your days feel longer, more fulfilling, and less rushed—no time machine required! Scott shares his science-backed "anticipation engine" technique that can transform how you experience every single day. Featured Story Scott reflects on a conversation with his daughter about how each generation witnesses incredible changes, yet the basics of life remain constant. While recovering from a cold caught at a podcast convention, Scott experienced firsthand how time can simultaneously fly by and crawl along—proving that your perception of time is within your control. There is no hype, just real-world results that will change how you think about your daily schedule. Key Takeaways You can't create more time, but you can change your perception of time by managing your activities and focus differently. The "anticipation engine" technique—having things you genuinely look forward to—scientifically changes how you experience the passage of time. Constantly being busy makes time pass quickly and creates the feeling of not having enough; strategically slowing down makes days feel longer and more fulfilling. Memorable Quotes "Most people are very excited when they're growing; most people are very depressed when they're not growing." "Around me, you're not going to get hype. You're going to get results." "You don't need more time. You need more focus and a change in perspective about time." Scott's Three-Step Approach Embrace the "anticipation engine" by listing 5-6 things you're looking forward to in the next week, month, or year. Deliberately slow down your pace throughout the day—take more time in the morning and don't rush yourself all day long. Introduce complex sensory input into your day through music, visual experiences, and varied activities to make time feel richer and fuller. Send us a textThis podcast tackles one of the biggest challenges in sales: managing your time effectively. With so much to juggle, it's easy to feel overwhelmed, but the truth is, that mastering your time can be a game-changer for your productivity and success. The key? Prioritize what matters, plan your day intentionally, and let technology do the heavy lifting where it can. Here's how:1. Prioritize Your ActionsIdentify What Drives Results: Focus on activities that directly boost your revenue and make your clients happy. These are your bread and butter.Use the Eisenhower Matrix: Break tasks into four categories:Urgent & ImportantImportant but Not UrgentUrgent but Not ImportantNeither Urgent nor ImportantThen zero in on what truly moves the needle—ditch or delegate the rest.Stay High-Impact: Spend your energy on tasks with the biggest payoff, like closing deals or building strong client relationships.2. Time Block Like a ProPlan Your Day: Assign specific time slots for your key activities—prospecting, client calls, admin work. Block these on your calendar like non-negotiable appointments.Use Smart Tools: Apps like Google Calendar or time trackers can help you stay on top of your schedule and prevent overbooking.Eliminate Distractions: Mute notifications, set up in a quiet space, and give yourself the freedom to focus. You'll be amazed at how much more you get done.3. Automate Routine TasksWork Smarter with Tech: Let automation tools handle repetitive tasks like email follow-ups, scheduling, or data entry. This frees you up to focus on selling.Delegate When Possible: If you have a team or resources, hand off tasks that don't need your personal touch—things like research or admin work.Batch It Together: Group similar tasks (like writing emails or making calls) into one session. You'll be faster and more efficient when you're in the zone.By using these simple strategies, you'll not only free up more time for what matters most but also lower your stress and get closer to hitting your sales goals. This fact connects all humans. How we spend the day could be entirely different. I've been able to manage my time to make millions, work four days per week, spend a lot of time with my family, as well as focus on my health and faith. Today, I give my best advice on how you can achieve this and more! Time management is important because it allows you to effectively organize and plan your time so that you can get the most out of each day and even build the life that you want! Want to be able to spend more time with your family? Go on better vacations? Leave your nine to five? You can accomplish all of this and more by utilizing your time more efficiently and effectively. One of my favorite time management hacks is Parkinson's Law. Parkinson's Law is a principle that states that work expands to fill the time available for its completion. This means that you may be less efficient and take longer to finish it than if you had a shorter time frame. If I have three hours to complete a small task, it will take me the entire three hours to do so. This can be problematic because it can lead to procrastination and a lack of productivity. By managing time effectively, you can make sure that you are using your time efficiently and focus on the priorities of your life.
