Lisa Barlow is not happy that her (free) 1 hour flight back to Salt Lake isn't in first class. Todd is not cut out for the housewife life and says he will never go on a cast trip ever again. We're starting to get a sense that Todd and Brownyn's relationship is a little rocky. We missed Heather this episode and Mary decided to stay at home to be with her son. For some reason Seth decided to be cringe and call Whitney and Angie biotches at the dinner table when the topic of Shawn calling out Meredith for using her son's sexuality as a pawn came up.... again. In Hollywood news, Megan Fox is pregnant. She is expecting a baby with Machine Gun Kelly. Kim and Kourtney have apparently buried the Dolce & Gabbana hatchet. Skims has partnered with the fashion house on a limited edition collection and low and behold Mrs. Barker is in the ad campaigns right alongside Kim. Joe Exotic has once again reached out to Donald Trump and asked for a pardon. Lil Nas X is preparing to release new music after his last attempt didn't go the way he expected it to. The Hollywood edition of Vanity Fair has been released with Sydney Sweeney as on of the handful of stars. She's calling out the "women empowerment" movement in Hollywood and claims that it is all fake and none of it is really happening. The evil journalist who wrote not so nice things about Martha Stewart, you know, the one who Martha said was dead, is in fact alive. Bridget Jones is getting a new diary. A new film is expected out on Valentine's Day of next year. Disney has partnered with overpriced athletic company, Lulu Lemon, on a collection just in time for the holidays. Tate McRae has announced a massive tour but unfortunately she has decided to not make a stop in Salt Lake. The Dune franchise has launched a mini series on HBO and sadly Timothèe Chalamet is not in it. And last but not least, John Krasinski has been crowned Peopl'e Sexiest Man Alive award. Thanks for listening!

In this episode, we're joined by Brownyn (she/her). Bronwyn is the host of @the.motherwhelm podcast and lives in the Blue Mountains with her husband and three children. Her first birth was a classic case of the cascade of intervention, from an induction due to gestational hypertension, to an emergency cesarean due to ‘failure to progress'. This experience left Bronwyn feeling humiliated and disempowered, and she suffered from postnatal anxiety during her postpartum. For her second birth, she hired a private midwife and doula for a home birth after cesarean, but when she went into preterm labour at 36 weeks right before NSW restrictions lifted in 2021, she had to present to hospital without her support team. Despite all her plans being flipped on their head, Bronwyn was able to achieve her much desired VBAC in a fast and furious labour. For her third birth, Bronwyn planned to have her 2VBAC at home with a PPM and doula. While she did get her glorious HBAC this time, it was again without her birth team because her daughter arrived with great haste and was BBA. This was by far her best birth yet! ‘The legacy of Leigh Bowery, king of queer', written by Dutch journalist Bamber Delver, looks at the the career of this outrageous shapeshifter of the 80's/90's. Decades after his death, Leigh Bowery's influence is omnipresent. From Alexander McQueen to Cirque du Soleil, from Lady Gaga to the drag queens of RuPaul. In this book 15 artists (inc. Le Pustra, Trevor Messersmith, Paola Idrontino, Luis Peralta, Saskia Kemperman, The Huxleys, Kat Joplin and Venus Envy) from around the globe admire his guts, his looks and fashion-philosophy which is nowadays called ‘queer': no boundaries, no gender, no age, no sexuality, no restrictions of the human-form. Ann Holt, with whom Leigh travelled to London at 17, shares her memories. Leigh's sister Brownyn tells about her childhood with Leigh. Also in the book is an interview from 1989 where Bamber interviewed the artist Leigh Bowery, as well as lots of never-seen-before photos of three of Leigh's creations. The book presents several timelines, of Leigh's life and afterlife: his legacy. Like the annual Aussie-party Bowerytopia and the theatre named after him: the Bowery Theatre, Australia (native country of Bowery). A variety of performers pay tribute to Leigh, verbally and visually. The book comes in different versions. The hardcover in print is a real treat. Leigh died in 1994, at just 33, but his creative legacy is bigger than ever. Bronwyn Williams & Edward Castronova | The Small Print If people can inhabit virtual worlds that are more alluring and gratifying than reality, then how can the real world ever compete? In this episode of The Small Print, Brownyn speaks to professor Edward Castronova about the phenomenon of virtual realities. They discuss VR's rising relevance, how economies inside these worlds can affect real-life financial systems, and what sort of impact these new technologies can — and will — have on business, culture, and society at large. Bronwyn Williams is a futurist, economist, trend analyst and host of The Small Print. Her day job as a partner at Flux Trends involves helping business leaders to use foresight to design the future they want to live and work in. You may have seen her talking about Transhumanism or Tikok on Carte Blanche, or heard her talking about trends on 702 or CNBC Africa where she is a regular expert commentator. When she's not talking to brands and businesses about the future, you will probably find her curled up somewhere with a (preferably paperback) book. She tweets at @bronwynwilliams. Twitter Flux Trends Website Edward "Ted" Castronova is a professor of media at Indiana University Bloomington and is best known for his work on virtual economics. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, one of the top economics programs in the country. There, he studied statistics and cost-benefit analysis, fields that provide the tools necessary to put real dollar values on virtual goods. His research as a mid-career professor – four books and dozens of articles – shows that people in virtual worlds are economically rational, and that virtual macroeconomies operate like real ones. Now a senior professor, Castronova serves as a consultant and board member for a wide variety of enterprises. Bronwyn Williams & Malcolm Ray In this episode of The Small Print, Brownyn speaks to author Malcolm Ray about his latest book “The Tyranny of Growth”. They discuss how a single number - GDP - came to have such bewildering power over our lives, despite its failure to capture many of the things we consider necessary for human flourishing. Together they unpack how the growth doctrine was used to co-opt African post-colonial institutions and elites to its cause during the Cold War and what could be done to develop a more inclusive measure going forward. Bronwyn Williams is a futurist, economist, trend analyst and host of The Small Print. Her day job as a partner at Flux Trends involves helping business leaders to use foresight to design the future they want to live and work in. Twitter Flux Trends Website Malcolm Ray is the author of Free Fall and The Tyranny of Growth. His work is devoted to breaking down walls of silence – the comfortable catchphrases and policy tropes used by political and economic elites, multilateral institutions and social movements to win hearts and minds – in order to tell the story without fear or favour. He began his career as an anti-apartheid activist during the 1980s and early nineties, where he developed a habit of independent, but critical and irreverent thinking, spawning both his love of journalism and a desire for influencing change from the ground up. A multiple award-winning journalist, Malcolm's writing is unapologetic and deals directly with themes of power relations, race, gender and class. Over the last two years, many international media outlets have lamented the apparent death of democracy in Hungary. At the same time, Hungary's Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, has become the darling of the modern conservative movement. Depending on who you're listening to, then, Hungary is a cautionary tale of right-wing national populism run amok or the poster child of contemporary conservative politics (perhaps, not mutually exclusive notions). In this episode of The Small Print, Brownyn speaks to economist and Hungarian national, Peter Istzin. They discuss what is going on in Hungary and what the international media gets wrong, the problems of crony capitalism and lack of social mobility in Hungary, the interesting parallels between Hungary and South Africa, and more. --- Bronwyn Williams is a futurist, economist, trend analyst and host of The Small Print. Grab your friends! Start a small group with Bronwyn’s book! Please leave her a book review!'From popular teacher and writer Bronwyn Lea, a biblical invitation to healthy male-female relationships by creating a vision beyond stilted and unhelpful don't-touch/don't-talk rules. When it comes to relationships between men and women in the church, we've got more questions than answers. In Beyond Awkward Side Hugs, Bronwyn Lea lays out a biblical vision for relationships between men and women in the church. Jesus' pattern for church living was one of family, of brothers and sisters living in intimate, healthy community with each other. Doing so calls for character and wisdom, for charting a path toward relationships that acknowledge gender but aren't sexualized, that go beyond the awkwardness of simplistic don't-touch/don't-talk rules. Rooted in Scripture and attested by personal and pastoral stories, Beyond Awkward Side Hugs is an invitation to relationship theology that moves beyond unhealthy, eroticized, fear-based patterns and toward gendered, generous relationships between men and women of character, loving one another as Jesus did.' Tourism Tweetup the Podcast Chatting with Bronwyn White from MyTravelResearch.com about how and where research fits into your tourism social media strategy. Episode #9 of Tourism Tweetup the Podcast we talk to Bronwyn White, co-founder of MyTravelResearch.com a fantastic online membership portal offering special reports and training material to allow your business to make better, 'evidence based' business decisions. Highlights The Internet has allowed research done by other large third parties such as Tourism Australia, the state DMO's and companies such as Google to become accessible to all businesses regardless of size. Also with tools such as Survey Monkey and others, primary research is now accessible and all businesses can now also do market research without having to have big budgets. Research such as who your customers are, what are their trigger points, what do they want to know about, what are they interested in, knowing how to talk to them and talking to their pain points is all extremely valuable. If you are a tourism business and you don't have a decent website you will be thrust out of the customer decision process almost immediately. [Tweet ""there is a disconnect between the traveler & the travel industry re technical capabilities""] The traveller is looking for certain types of information over all stages of the path to purchase. When they are dreaming or thinking of a holiday they require certain types of information that may be different from when they are planning or booking a holiday. So travellers needs and requirements in terms of information are more sophisticated than what a lot of the tourism industry is delivering. "Travellers needs and requirements in terms of information are more sophisticated than what a lot of the tourism industry is delivering." The industry needs to focus on their content marketing more, in order to help customers get over the line. The travel industry should look at different content for different stages of the path to purchase that is Dreaming, Planning, Booking, Experiencing, Sharing. More information on this here. [Tweet ""Marketing & market research should take up a great deal of your time if you are in business""] "What we are finding is Internet search is number #1 across all path to purchase platforms" says @TravelResearch0 "If you have limited budgets and you can't do both print and online, steer towards the online because that is where the customers are looking! And there are plenty of statistics to support this." [Tweet ""Research is fundamental & should be at the core of all social media strategy" @TravelResearch0"] What we are finding now (with semantic search) is that the search engines are looking to social media for social signals. Google and the search engines are using social media as a measure of how compelling and interesting your content actually is. Information on semantic search for the tourism industry. The search engines are also using social as a measure to assess you area of expertise. What this in tern means is "gone are the times were we as an industry can be all things to everybody" and what this means in terms of research is that 'knowing who your customer is, finding your customer voice and really targeting your product or service to your customer is key." Bronwyn White says a great way to do this is by creating customer personas to really visual your customer as a person. Give them names and activities and a story. Talk to their needs and their pain points. [Tweet ""Don't market to yourself...market to your customer" says Bronwyn White from @TravelResearch0"] Bronwyn White talks about Anna Del Rio, Coorong District Council's community and tourism development officer who was named ARTN's Young Tourism Professional of the year last month. From about the 18 minute mark of the podcast Brownyn describes ...

YIS: Melbourne fuzz monsters, YIS, have been kicking it around the traps for a number of years now, bringing their sweaty pysch rock being a staple of the Melbourne music scene since 2009. Made up of brothers Simon, Andrew and Matt (plus non-relative Brownyn) the band released the well-received ‘Kingdom of Fuzz’ in 2011. This set was recorded by Robbie Adams at The Tote in Melbourne in March 2012 and features hit after hit of fuzz-madness, including an excellent version of ‘(I Feel) Repulsed’. Recorded and mixed Robbie Adams at The Tote, Melbourne, 2012. Intercooler: Intercooler have been a staple of South East Queensland live music for over a decade now, releasing three great records and playing countless shows, even supporting the likes of Teenage Fanclub, J Mascis and The Delgados. A great live band who produce excellent pop-rock tunes taken from the mines of love, loss and desire. Tune in to hear a tune or two from the mighty Intercooler. Recorded and produced by John Robinson of Beau FM. Mixed by Matt Dever. Recorded at Big Sound 2011.
