Graves to Gardens Podcast is back with a new season and a slightly new format! Unlike past seasons where there's a new topic with each new episode, this season will have a concentrated topic and you will hear from a few experts and their connected community partners on the topic. The entire season 6 will be all about addressing youth incarceration, primarily looking at alternative approaches to incarceration and the advocacy that goes into stopping a young person from winding up in an adult facility. Leading the series will be two Philadelphia based nonprofits, Healing Futures (a vital arm of the larger organization, vital arm of the organization Youth Arts and Self Empowerment Project or YASP for short) as well as the Youth Sentencing and Reentry Project. Today's episode is to serve as an introduction to the season, give you context on why I've titled this episode "Planted in Praise, Planted in Purpose" and what to expect from next Thursday's episode. Below are a few key words that we'll discuss more throughout this season that I'd like you to have definitions for:Restorative justice: A response to wrongdoing that prioritizes repairing harm and recognizes that maintaining positive relationships with others is a core human need. It seeks to address the root causes of crime, even to the point of transforming unjust systems and structures.Healing circle: Deriving from practices of Native Americans, First Nations, and indigenous peoples, the Circle Process allows for the formation of relationships, the honoring of voices, and the creation of unity. The process is, at its essence, a story sharing process, which brings together people as equals to have open exchanges about difficult issues or painful experiences in an atmosphere of respect and concern for everyone.Direct file: A category of cases in which the prosecutor may determine whether to proceed initially in juvenile or criminal court. Typically, these direct file provisions give both juvenile and adult criminal courts the power to hear cases involving certain offenses or age/offense categories, leaving it up to the prosecutor to make discretionary decisions about where to file them.Today's episode features clips published by two news outlets. [School of Movies 2024] For this rather special episode, we firstly welcome to the show for the first time, director Alfred Hitchcock, as we examine his most famous and most revisited film, Psycho (1960). This became the wellspring from which modern-day detective thrillers emerged. But it also has tangled roots in Horror and the grubby stepchild of its sub-genres, the slasher. While other films like Charles Laughton's Night of the Hunter (1955) and John Lee Thompson's Cape Fear (1962) -both weirdly starring Robert Mitchum- were also hugely important, Psycho was less about the stalking killer as it was a torrid dive into the swampy waters of their mind. Deriving from a 1959 novel by Robert Bloch, who lived down the road from Ed Gein as he was being arrested for trying to make a woman-suit, this story, along with Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) and Thomas Harris' Silence of the Lambs (1988) assisted greatly in the lurid, pulp sensationalism of the twisted deviant killer-man-in-a-dress mythology. Despite quiet, clear, firm, researched and experienced protestations from trans folk and their allies who keep having to remind the world at large that they aren't toilet-lurking monsters. We also look at the stunningly ill-advised shot-for-shot remake of the Hitchcock film, directed in 1998 by Gus Van Sant. Superficially, these are exactly the same film, but the devil is in the details. Next week we will be returning to Bates Motel with the far less well-known, but actually pretty good Psycho II, which more pronouncedly paints Norman as a victim.

Are you interested in the connection between sense of space and civic engagement? Summary of the article titled Place and City: Toward a Geography of Engagement from 2019 by Albert Acedo, Tiago Oliveira, Mijail Naranjo-Zolotov, and Marco Painho, published in the Heliyon journal. This is a great preparation to our next interview with Ishara Sahama in episode 262 talking about urban sense of place and community engagement. Since we are investigating the future of cities, I thought it would be interesting to see how sense of place, social capital and civic engagement are connected. This article presents the spatial dimension's critical role in explaining and improving civic participation in urban environments. As the most important things, I would like to highlight 3 aspects: Urban planning should consider the spatial dimensions of citizen engagement to create more effective participatory processes. Sense of place and social capital are critical factors in promoting civic engagement, particularly when they overlap geographically. Civic engagement is strongest when people's emotional attachments to places align with their social networks. You can find the article through this link. Abstract: The relationship between sense of place, social capital and civic engagement has been studied in different disciplines. However, their association has been less examined, and their spatial relationship has been analyzed even less. This study contributes to a better understanding of the relationship between these three concepts (i.e., sense of place, social capital and civic engagement). Furthermore, we analyze the crucial role that the spatial relationship between them plays. Using spatial data collected through a web map-based application, we adopt structural equation modeling (SEM) techniques to assess the repercussion that sense of place has on social capital and how the latter affects civic engagement. We find that sense of place is significant and positively correlated with social capital, while the latter also significantly explains civic engagement at the individual level. Furthermore, we observe a better statistical performance in almost all cases when a spatial relationship between the three constructs exists. Our research leverages SEM techniques, Geographic Information Science (GISc) methods, and participatory methodology to show the spatial connection between sense of place and social capital to explain civic engagement. Deriving and quantifying such meaning allows us to highlight the importance of their spatial dimension in city processes such as participation. This week, we have the privilege of hearing from Dr. Alan Weissenbacher, the managing editor of the journal Theology and Science and a teaching pastor in Berkeley, California. Deriving from his work with those who struggle with addiction, he illustrates how we can harness the power of neuroscience to change our habits, emphasizing the importance of replacing negative thoughts with positive ones, and how our focus can reshape our brain's pathways, which includes the disciplines of prayer and studying Scripture. Later in the episode, we'll hear from Carolyn Weber, an acclaimed author, speaker, and professor who experienced a profound spiritual awakening during her time at Oxford University. Initially an agnostic, Carolyn's encounters with diverse Christian communities and her thorough reading of the Bible led her to embrace Christianity. Her memoir and its subsequent film adaptation chronicle her journey from skepticism to faith. Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: Rapid capability gain around supergenius level seems probable even without intelligence needing to improve intelligence, published by Towards Keeperhood on May 6, 2024 on LessWrong. TLDR: 1. Around Einstein-level, relatively small changes in intelligence can lead to large changes in what one is capable to accomplish. 1. E.g. Einstein was a bit better than the other best physi at seeing deep connections and reasoning, but was able to accomplish much more in terms of impressive scientific output. 2. There are architectures where small changes can have significant effects on intelligence. 1. E.g. small changes in human-brain-hyperparameters: Einstein's brain didn't need to be trained on 3x the compute than normal physics professors for him to become much better at forming deep understanding, even without intelligence improving intelligence. Einstein and the heavytail of human intelligence 1905 is often described as the "annus mirabilis" of Albert Einstein. He founded quantum physics by postulating the existence of (light) quanta, explained Brownian motion, introduced the special relativity theory and derived E=mc from it. All of this. In one year. While having a full-time job in the Swiss patent office. With the exception of John von Neumann, we'd say those discoveries alone seem more than any other scientist of the 20th century achieved in their lifetime (though it's debatable). Though perhaps even more impressive is that Einstein was able to derive general relativity. Einstein was often so far ahead of his time that even years after he published his theories the majority of physicists rejected them because they couldn't understand them, sometimes even though there was experimental evidence favoring Einstein's theories. After solving the greatest open physics problems at the time in 1905, he continued working in the patent office until 1908, since the universities were too slow on the uptake to hire him earlier. Example for how far ahead of his time Einstein was: Deriving the theory of light quanta The following section is based on parts of the 8th chapter of "Surfaces and Essences" by Douglas Hofstadter. For an analysis of some of Einstein's discoveries, which show how far ahead of his time he was, I can recommend reading it. At the time, one of the biggest problems in physics was the "Blackbody spectrum", which describes the spectrum of electromagnetic wavelengths emitted by a Blackbody. The problem with it was that the emitted spectrum was not explainable by known physics. Einstein achieved a breakthrough by considering light not just as a wave, but also as light quanta. Although this idea sufficiently explained the Blackbody spectrum, physicists (at least almost) unanimously rejected it. The fight between the "light is corpuscles" and "light is a wave" faction had been decided a century ago, with a clear victory for the "wave" faction. Being aware of these possible doubts, Einstein proposed three experiments to prove his idea, one of which was the photoelectric effect. In the following years, Robert Millikan carried out various experiments on the photoelectric effect, which all confirmed Einstein's predictions. Still, Millikan insisted that the light-quanta theory had no theoretical basis and even falsely claimed that Einstein himself did not believe in his idea anymore. From Surfaces and Essences (p.611): To add insult to injury, although the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Albert Einstein, it was not for his theory of light quanta but "for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect". Weirdly, in the citation there was no mention of the ideas behind that law, since no one on the Nobel Committee (or in all of physics) believed in them! [1][...] And thus Albert Einstein's revolutionary ideas on the nature of light, that most fundamental and all-...

He came upon his innovative thesis in retirement when he noticed anatomical "fascia" on the coverings of stones that resembled bodily organs. His radically unconventional interpretation of stones as body parts and organs of giants has been backed up, he says, by several catscans and DNA analyses. Roger has a background in chemistry, and explains his views on the complex transformations from organic flesh to hardened stone with reference to well-known chemical processes. Extraordinary photographs are presented throughout this interview. Body parts and whole creatures are exhibited. Especially abundant in his examples, Roger says, are the remains of arteries and veins, and many instances show the transformed traces of blood in iron-rich areas of the Earth's "geology". Naturally, conventional geological science entirely rejects his findings, as he entirely discounts their premises. Roger also discounts conventional and most alternative histories and archaeologies as well, asserting, for instance, that the head of the Sphinx is a real head, like other objects long understood to have been sculpted, or partially sculpted, from stone outcrops. Deriving part of his cosmic history from Immanuel Velikovsky, Roger Spurr also considers the Book of Revelations to tell of our past, not just the future, and correlates his findings with myths around the world. Gnostic views of Gaia, Jesus, and the forces of darkness also richly inform his presentation. Notwithstanding the controversial nature of his beliefs, Roger encourages research in this area and a free exchange of ideas. Roger's work can be found at Mudfossils.com, and his Youtube channel, Mudfossil University.
Law enforcement trainers frequently stress the importance of Situational Awareness or 'SA'. But what even is it? If you ask a room full of trainers, you will get as many varied answers as there are people in the room! And yet, situational awareness in other domains has been found to be the hallmark of expert performance. Experts have developed ways of rapidly assessing an unfolding, often ambiguous event, and knowing what to anticipate, where to scan, how to understand what they are seeing, and are then able to make the most effective decisions to solve the problem. In this interview, Dr's Huhta and Di Nota will discuss the research they conducted on expert performers and their situational awareness patterns in law enforcement. The paper which serves as the foundation for this discussion is titled “Deriving Expert Knowledge of Situational Awareness in Policing: a Mixed-Methods Study” and was published in the Journal of Police and Criminal Psychology in 2023. In this interview, we explore: · The importance of situational awareness, · The definition of situational awareness – what does it mean? · How experts actually attend to and process unfolding incidents, · Differences between how experts and novices scan and assess a scene, · The 7 themes of expert situational awareness, · Considerations for structuring a learning environment to assist students with the skill of developing situational awareness expertise, · Accelerating ‘game intelligence' in training by applying the principles of the 7 S/A themes. As a reminder, the publication we are speaking about in this interview is available for download over at the Trainers Bullpen website at www.trainersbullpen.com

Tom welcomes R.C. Williams and Juliana Ormond to the show to discuss the implementation of the Sound Money Act. Deriving authority from Article 1, Section 10 of the US Constitution, the Act will enable states to mint their own gold and silver currency, thereby reducing dependence on federal fiat money. To guarantee successful implementation, the precious metals must be declared as legal tender and be functional in transactions, just like debit cards. Williams and Ormond foresee Florida, Texas, Utah, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Missouri, and New Hampshire as the states most likely to accept the Act. The states' chief financial officers will manage the system, with technological support from tech firms. The Sound Money Act, backed by precious metals, presents wealth protection and growth opportunities. They caution this new system should complement, not replace, conventional fiat currencies. This precious metal-backed system has prime potential to inhibit unlawful financial activities and money laundering due to improved transparency and accountability. Moreover, it provides a check on government towards greater restraint over their fiscal activities, deterring overspending and empowering citizens to have enhanced control over personal finances. Successful implementation of the Sound Money Act requires strong legislative backing. In Florida, this backing is accomplished by winning support from key political figures. Challenges are foreseen, but the procedure is expected to boost state sovereignty and monetary freedom. The states' rights, as defined by the 9th and 10th Amendments, empower them to independently manage themselves and secure citizens' interests, even when facing federal intervention. The group anticipates that if a significant number of states adopt gold and silver as legal tender, it could press the Federal Reserve into critical discussions leading to ideological and practical dilemmas. This could eventually address the debt issue. To help citizens voice their opinions on the matter, the group has initiated the Watchmen Action platform to provide resources required for engaging in research, narrative development, and legislative outreach. The aim is to rally leaders toward valuable public changes despite facing opposition from those entrenched in the current economic structures. Umbanda is a religion that emerged in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the 1920s. Deriving largely from Spiritism, it also combines elements from Afro-Brazilian traditions like Candomblé as well as Roman Catholicism. There is no central authority in control of Umbanda, which is organized around autonomous places of worship termed centros or terreiros, and is broadly divided between White Umbanda, which is closer to Spiritism, and Africanized Umbanda, which is closer to Candomblé. Briggs is a leading expert on security and has advised governments and multinational corporations on security, resilience, terrorism, and responses to extremism. She conducts research, thought leadership, and consulting for corporate clients on security and cybersecurity. She is also an Associate Fellow at Chatham House. She was awarded an OBE by Her Majesty the Queen in 2014 for services to hostage families and kidnap victims overseas.Briggs and host Dr. Marisa Randazzo discuss:Why great ideas can change the world and how the Clarity Factory helps identify new insights and drive innovation in the corporate security and cybersecurity industry. Her process of conveying research to leaders around an organization and the important exercise of always coming back to the core argument. The undeniable connection between diversity and innovation in the security industry and what gives her hope that change is possible in the near future.Key Takeaways:02:50: Rachel Briggs: Any area or profession needs to have good ideas to be able to continually change and improve and face the increasing challenges that we face in the world. But great ideas change the world. (Of course if they are grounded in reality.)06:31: Rachel Briggs: I think the simpler you can keep your ideas, without dumbing them down of course, the further they can travel and the better able people are able to implement it. That's why it's about clarity for me, it's about taking the messy old world that we all live in today and you know.06:58: Marisa Randazzo: One of the things that has really impressed me about the work that you have done has been not only the clarity of the ideas but of how you communicate those ideas and especially for a corporate security audience or a c-suite audience. One of the things that has been so powerful in the work that you have done has been the succinctness and simplicity with which you have conveyed these ideas. It's not just the idea itself. I'd love to just hear about the process of how you go from kind of that raw data to really. Deriving the insights that that you do and then how you communicate it.08:07: Rachel Briggs: I'm a really big believer in trusting the process. You start by opening the funnel and you know what your initial question is and you keep that really simple and you then open it up and gather as much data and information as you possibly can. At a certain point in time you have to stop and go back down the funnel in the other direction and really get sharp on what the argument is — just try and write what it is. I force myself to get back to one piece of paper and find a way of really describing what it is I think this is telling me in a very succinct way before I start writing.I think having that discipline really helps you to write and to communicate in a way that is clear. You're always coming back to your core argument and it really helps you to figure out — is this bit of data relevant or not because inevitably you end up with too much and you have to be ruthless. 15:55: Rachel Briggs: You know in anything I write, whether it's a 500 word blog post or a 20,000 word report it has to be focused on what can the reader go and do differently in the office tomorrow.21:11: Marisa Randazzo: Within security, practitioners are often trying to talk with departments outside of security — whether it is to brief a c-suite on security issues or talk with human resources or an employee assistance program — oftentimes they speak different languages and a researcher within the violence risk assessment field has talked about this great term of boundary spanner. Someone who speaks different kinds of languages in different sectors so you can communicate clearly across different domains.26:08: Rachel Briggs: I had the pleasure of working with ASIS International and its foundation. I spent about nine months diving into the issue of diversity equity and inclusion within corporate security and - spoiler alert- there isn't as much diversity as there should be. Perhaps we didn't need a piece of research to tell us that but more importantly, what I wanted to do was get under the skin of that and really understand what's happening. I interviewed 16 chief security officers and I think without exception all of them got why security and diversity were important. One of the responses that really gave me hope was when we asked for people to tell us from strongly agree to strongly disagree whether they would speak up if they saw something that wasn't right (some discriminatory behavior) and the vast majority of respondents — across all groups men women straight gay disabled non-disabled etc — said they absolutely would speak up.In other words and I thought that was really important because essentially what we're talking about in terms of diversity is a change management challenge. We're trying to take an industry from being from looking and sounding one way to looking and sounding different in some ways and change happens first because there's the firebrands who are on the frontline who are fighting and shouting and um. You know often feel like they're sort of shouting into an empty room in those early years but answers like that that say people are willing to speak up tells me that things are changing now are they changing fast enough.

The proportion of regular wine drinkers willing to pay more for sustainable wine has significantly increased in the past two years (IWSR, 2022). Your customers will only know that your wine was made sustainably if you tell them! Welcome to Marketing Tip Monday with SIP Certified. We know customers are looking for wines labeled as sustainable. Using storytelling to share with your customers the specific things your brand does that are sustainable and why they are important (i.e. telling your Sustainable Story) helps make it clear that yours is a business that truly walks the walk when it comes to caring for the people and the planet. It builds an emotional connection and fills gaps in consumer knowledge of sustainability. Plant and animal pests are a common issue for all winegrowers. Read on to learn how in an effort to conserve water and promote plant health, Jean-Pierre Wolff of Wolff Vineyards discovered a unique pest mitigation strategy! Safe Pest Management at Wolff Vineyards In 2017, Jean-Pierre Wolff decided that rather than replanting his vines on the same rootstocks, he would convert to drought-resistant rootstocks and plant them three feet into the ground. Deriving inspiration from an African palm farming technique, Jean-Pierre uses PVC pipes to deliver water and nutrients directly to the root zone. There is no wait time for the nutrients to be pushed to the roots, and no water is wasted through parts of the soil that contain no roots. Along with the tremendous water savings resulting from his deeply planted vines and subsurface irrigation technology, Wolff has discovered an “indirectly obvious” benefit - fewer weeds! Since water and fertilizer are applied through PVC pipes that lead directly to the root systems 3-feet underground, native and noxious weeds with shallow roots can't access these resources, and therefore can't thrive. Vertebrate pests have also had little success in establishing themselves in these areas since they don't typically dig to the depths at which the roots lie. It's Monday, June 19th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus 30,000 people dead in Myanmar's civil war The two-year civil war in Myanmar, previously known as Burma, has killed an estimated 30,000 people and displaced some two million more, reports International Christian Concern. Not surprisingly, there is wide dissatisfaction with the military junta that threw out the elected government and took over the country in early 2021. The junta invaded and worked destruction in Christian areas such as the Karen, Kachin, and Chin states, but recently even the majority Burmese in central Myanmar have become disgusted with the junta's actions. Many now back the National Union Government group in opposing the junta. The ethnic groups have killed an estimated 15,000 junta troops, though not a sizable number in an army of 170,000. Conversely, the army has destroyed scores of villages and churches among the predominantly Christian ethnic groups. They even prevented aid from reaching the people in the Rakhine state after Cyclone Mocha hit there in May. Pray for peace in Myanmar. Matthew 5:9 says, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” Juneteenth celebration turns tragic Today is Juneteenth, a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans. Deriving its name from combining June and nineteenth, it is celebrated on the anniversary of the order by Union Major General Gordon Granger proclaiming freedom for slaves in Texas on June 19, 1865. Tragically, over the weekend, ABC News reports that at least 23 people were injured, one fatally, when gunfire erupted early Sunday morning at a Juneteenth celebration in suburban Chicago where 300-400 people were celebrating. Witness #1: “Out of nowhere, there was, like, a major gunfight for, like, 30 seconds. I'd say 60-plus, you know, rounds.” Witness #2: “We went down the street to see what was going on. And we just saw a bunch of people running.” The shooting unfolded about 12:30 a.m. in the parking lot of a strip mall in Willowbrook, about 23 miles west of Chicago. Witness #3: “There was just like hundreds of cop cars. They had everything closed. No one could get through. There was just tons of ambulances. It was crazy. It was very hectic.” No arrests have been announced. An unknown number of suspects fired multiple rounds from multiple weapons into the crowd. And a motive for the shooting is under investigation. Chinese bought influence with $10 million to Biden Family As I guest host for Kevin Swanson today on Generations Radio, I interview Kevin Jackson, a former Fox News contributor, about how bank records reveal that the Biden Family has received $10 million from China and foreign interests. JACKSON: “We have a criminal in the office, in the Oval Office, who is openly in business with the Chinese government and Chinese spies. “We're talking about chump change for these guys to feather their nests and to sell us out to the Chinese, the Russians, and the Ukrainians.” In essence, China has bribed the president and his family to do their bidding. Learn about how that $10 million of money from the Chinese to the Bidens has impacted American foreign policy. To hear the entire 27-minute interview, go to Generations.org/radio. “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” honored at Dodgers' stadium And finally, last Friday, the Dodgers baseball team honored a male drag queen group, dressed as demonic-looking caricatures of Catholic nuns, at their Homosexual Transgender Pride Night celebration. Known as the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, these men, who wear gaudy make-up, traditional nuns' habits, and mock the cross like Madonna, embrace the slogan “Go forth and sin some more,” a blatant mockery of Jesus Christ's words to a woman caught in adultery found in John 8:11. Listen to a portion of the Dodgers' announcement from Friday night. ANNOUNCER: “[The Dodgers honor] the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence for their outstanding service to the LGBTQ+ community.” Founded in 1979, this sexually depraved group stages a “Hunky Jesus” contest every Easter Sunday among other unmentionable antics. They describe themselves as “an order of queer and trans nuns.” Unbelievably, one homosexual man claimed the drag queens were Christ-like. Listen. MAN #1: “They exemplify Christian values more than any so-called people that are against the queer community. So, I think they're amazing!” Disturbingly, the L.A. Dodgers awarded these drag queens with their “Community Hero” award. Initially, after the Major League Baseball team had announced they planned to honor the sexually perverted group, they got such big pushback from Catholics and Protestants alike, that they rescinded the invitation. But then, the Los Angeles-area sexually perverted groups were so loud in their objection to the cancellation, that the Dodgers chose to apologize and re-invite the so-called “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence,” reported The Daily Wire. One homosexual man in Los Angeles was thrilled. MAN: “I'm glad the Dodgers re-invited them. for sure. I think a lesson to be learned through all this is: ‘Don't back down to bullies.' I think of all the time to be prideful, this is it!” Proverbs 16:18 says, “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” Thankfully, the Dodgers team gave the fake male nuns the award one hour before the game at which time few Dodgers fans were sitting in their chairs. However, outside the stadium, 5,000 Catholics and Protestants participated in a prayer rally, as they registered their anger with the baseball team management, reports LifeSiteNews.com. A speaker lifted up the name of Jesus. PRAYER RALLY SPEAKER: “Jesus Christ is not only our Lord, He's the Lord of America.” And a Catholic man took direct issue with the mockery of Catholic nuns. CATHOLIC MAN: “Yeah, my concern is that they're not sisters and they're ridiculing the good sisters in the Catholic Church.” Those who have objected include Washington Nationals pitcher Trevor Williams, Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio, and even Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw who took issue with his own employer, reports The Los Angeles Times. Providentially, the Dodgers lost the game to the San Francisco Giants 7-5 in the 11th inning. Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Monday, June 19th in the year of our Lord 2023. It's easy for attorneys to get stuck in the work grind. They often have difficulty taking time off for themselves, and when they do, they think about work. They live and breathe their practices. None of us are designed to work seven days a week. Taking time off can increase your productivity and creativity and make you a more interesting person to talk to. Unfortunately, when you're stuck in a cycle of living to work, it can feel impossible to break free and begin investing more time in learning to do things you enjoy outside of the law practice. In this episode of Great Practice, Great Life, Steve interviews Kimberly Lee, founder of Desert Law Group in Palm Springs, California. She immigrated with her parents from Taiwan to the United States at 17 and mastered English, graduating from law school as a single mom. Deriving her work ethic from her parents, Kimberly only took time off from her hectic schedule once she challenged herself to take 30 days off. That's when she discovered what she calls “not yet” projects, which allowed her to find some interesting hobbies outside of work. Having those projects taught her that it's okay not to master everything she takes on and just to enjoy them as a part of her life. Today, Kimberly is still finding new “not yet” projects to take on. In this episode, you will hear: Kimberly Lee's struggle as an immigrant to the U.S., where her work ethic is derived from, and the shock she felt in a new country at 17 years old How she learned English from Sesame Street and graduated from law school as a single mom Her secret weapon to success and why taking time off was challenging for her What happened when Kimberly finally took some time off, and how she learned to embrace downtime What a “not yet” project is and the first ones she took on The lessons “not yet” projects have taught Kimberly and why she's learned to embrace frustration The benefits of intentionally taking time off and what the time off taught her about her law practice Kimberly's advice for starting your own “not yet” project journey Follow and Review: We'd love for you to follow us if you haven't yet.
