You can find that - and more about the show - at https://wsmradio.com/shows/american-songster-radio/ Season Four of American Songster Radio Show features brand new episodes dedicated to Dom Flemons new solo album Traveling Wildfire on Smithsonian Folkways. Flemons and his co-host Vania Kinard will present curated themed episodes that explore more music from their record collection along with additional commentary about the making of Traveling Wildfire. In celebration of the release, each episode takes a behind the scenes look at the musical influences that helped shape the album and the creative process that brought it all together. Flemons and Kinard will also discuss the evolution of the black experience in country music while playing classic songs on the air. Dom Flemons has built a reputation on presenting 100 years of American roots music, but with Traveling Wildfire his own songwriting prowess comes into the spotlight. Carefully selected from his personal repertoire, these original songs reveal his love of country, western, blues, Americana, bluegrass and folk music as they tell stories of true love, family legacy, survival, time travel, and the juxtaposition between light and dark. Traveling Wildfire weaves through the themes of hope and humor as it rises above the hard times with strength and lightheartedness. “I hope people will be able to hear the different phases of my life through the lyrics and feel the energy that fuels my creativity within the songs. The past few years for me have been a time of deep reflection and meditation. I hope that the album will light a fire of inspiration inside everyone who experiences it.” -Dom Flemons The Making of ‘Traveling Wildfire' Mini Documentary: https://youtu.be/u_Bko05gALI

Friends, it's a been a few months and I might be a little rusty on my intro-ad libbing chops, but stick with me into the poem itself. It's fun, and hopefully up to my own standards for Weird. For this is the first in my little series of items, Taco Bell Quarterly Rejections. As mentioned in the pod, if you haven't go check out Taco Bell Quarterly. For poetry, it's a dream publication. If I could sneak in some Taco-Bell related Sci Fi, well that would be just perfect. There's a Ko-fi link on my lefthandrob.net home page, where you might be reading this, if you want to help support the production of this podcast. And however much I'd like to see those dollars trickle in via ko-fi, I'd much rather you take that hard earned currency and donate it to one of the charities listed on that same site. Because we live in a capitalist society and the work toward justice and equality and maybe even equity requires money to run. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the poem. If you're happy I'm back, let me know with a comment or a tweet. If you wish I'd gone away for good, same.

It comes in a brown bottle and may or may not have been purchased at a hardware store. The concoction has Johnny seeing things!! Is that Mama Carlson in the hallway?? Surely not...she never drops by unannounced. Then again, the cold makes people do some strange things. Another month gone? How can it be? I've gone on vacation, Gemini season has started, I've turned 33 and that means my birthday month is officially coming to a close! Time to get into all the things May had - only 2 Hallmark movies this month, Baby It's Cold Inside and Sweet Carolina. Hallmark, how ya doing? We should really talk soon. The May book club pick The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren got a solid 8/10 rating and it's another CL book heading into June. Then it's time to talk about the book I could shout from the rooftops about - Man Enough by Justin Baldoni. It's so good I'm only halfway through because I have to constantly stop and sit in the validation of finally being heard and understood by a man trying to help other men. Rounding it out, I recap the other books I made it through this month including two historical romance books by Martha Waters; To Have and To Hoax and it's sequel To Love and To Loathe. Rachel Lynn Solomon's The Ex-Talk was a solid debut out of YA and finally, it's so good to be back online British Author land with In Case You Missed It by Lindsey Kelk. Just...read that book. So much goodness - let's get into it all! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

When a pretty travel agent who once flooded an entire hotel meets a tall owner of an ice hotel, will she make his heart melt? You know she will, even after causing gaffe after gaffe that could jeopardize the hotel's reputation! At least she didn't flood it, though! While this movie wasn't one of our favorites, it did have a lot of fun moments and some great performances. We have many questions though:Why are we getting a new winter movie in May when we also got spring movies in February? Is Phoebe the worst bff ever? Why did Sean dump her and then want her back?Where do you curl your hair when staying at an ice hotel? What exactly was the end product of the glass-making class?Does Hallmark owe us cupcakes? How many months until Hannah melts and floods the Finland ice hotel? Why didn't Bridget get a man?Plus, you don't want to miss Mary's rant about the season eight finale of When Calls The Heart so listen to the end to hear that.

Megan and Wendy recap and review Hallmark Channel's "Baby, It's Cold Inside" starring Jocelyn Hudon and Steve Lund. This is the first movie Wendy couldn't finish. Megan is left with the burden of reviewing the whole movie but not before Wendy melts down about pancakes. Email the podcast! We read every email: meganandwendy@gmail.com News and Notes About Baby, It's Cold Inside Baby, It's Cold Inside was filmed on location in Quebec at a real ice hotel. In fact, Hotel de Glace is the only ice hotel in North America and is operational during the months of January to March. Would you ever stay at an ice hotel? Email us. Actor Steve Lund said the filming location was so cold that electric socks were a must have. Electric socks? Who knew electric socks were even a thing? You can get them on Amazon for less that $40. What is a Kransekake? It was mentioned in this movie that the Ice Hotel was trying to wow the travel reviewer guy with some traditional Nordic desserts, specifically a kransekake. A kransekake is a tower of delicate cookie rings and is commonly served at weddings, parties and holidays. The kransekake used in Baby, It's Cold Inside was a stack of pancakes. It wasn't even close to what a kransekake looks like. Hanna then tried saving the day with an Aebleskiver recipe which is a round pancake ball typically served for breakfast. She somehow made a whole bunch of them using a cake pop pan. Nope. This what an Aebleskiver pan looks like. I've never ever heard of making Aebleskivers in a cake pop pan. Finally, the travel reviewer guy is presented with the classic French dessert: a croque-en-bouche. This whole scene in Baby, It's Cold Inside was such a mess. What Next for Girls Gone Hallmark? Stay tuned as we'll be back next week to review Sweet Carolina starring Lacey Chabert and Mr. Hynie himself.

This week's episode, I review the newest released Hallmark movie title "Baby It's Cold Inside" starring Jocelyn Hudon and Steven Lund. It is the second Hallmark movie set in the Ice Hotel, the first one was titled Winter Castle. I discuss the beautiful architecture of the hotel, my thoughts on the lack of chemistry as well as the lack of major plotline in this movie. If someone could just enlighten me on what exactly was Hannah's reason to be sent to the hotel. Like was she supposed to write to her boss or something? I don't know. She only called her boss once throughout the movie and wrote "Notes" once as well. The whole movie she was doing everyone else's job but her own. (Yeah I didn't like this movie at all." Also I talk a little about When Calls the Heart season 8 finale. I am not going to lie. I was happy Lucas was chosen. And that kiss was so fire hot, it could have burned down the bridge Elizabeth and Lucas were standing on. Lol. To be honest though, I was very disappointed in some of the fans' reactions to the ending. I get it your guy "lost" but don't attack the actors for just doing their job. It's insane. Anyway, can't wait til season 9. You can listen to the podcasts in all platforms, Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Tune-in+Alexa, Pandora and Youtube. It's cold inside. But why is it cold? How can we escape it? Is the most important part of making up for a crime recognizing that you committed the crime in the first place? This is the first part of a larger story that I'm going to be putting up here in succession. It's fairly simple, I think, but the message of the story will be difficult to parse out until the end. Up until that point, it's just a nice little cosmic horror ditty. The Pantheon is written and produced by Joshua White. Although it was created in March, this mix shows little signs of "Spring". There was no intentional relation, but inevitably the devastating Japan Earthquake, and the frightening nuclear disaster following it, somehow found its way into this mix. The result: a rather dark overall atmosphere, which seems to leave little room for hope. But at the same time, in Europe, winter retreats and daylight returns. Nature shows that it can destroy as well as recuperate. --- originally published on Ambientblog --- Playlist: 00:00 Porzellan - Vopar Tar[Parvo] Art, 2009, parvo 00702:15 Max Richter - The Vel D'HivElle s'appelait Sarah, 2010, Editions Jade 05:12 Colin Potter & Michael Begg - CarnethyFragile Pitches, 2010, Omnempathy OMIC108:29 Victor Joaquim - Radio_OEssays on Radio: Can I Have 2 Minutes of Your Time, 2005, Crónica 02009:39 Janek Schaefer - Untitled49 Years from Gesang der Jünglinge (2005-1958), 2005, Sirr 002013:08 Mikko Tarmia - Amb_end_softAmnesia, The Dark Descent (Game Soundtrack), 2010, Frictional Games13:25 Mikko Tarmia - Amb_extra01Amnesia, The Dark Descent (Game Soundtrack), 2010, Frictional Games13:40 Jack Wall - Linking ChamberMyst IV, Revelation (Game Soundtrack), 2005, Ubisoft14:12 Mikko Tarmia - Event_hallwayAmnesia, The Dark Descent (Game Soundtrack), 2010, Frictional Games14:18 Alio Die & Mariolina Zitta - Lithos (Part II)La Sala Dei Cristalli, 2010, Hic Sunt Leones HSL05816:08 Peter Andersson - SarkophagusMusic for Film & Exhibition II, 2010, Old Europa Cafe, OECD13518:07 Deaf Center - Hunted TwiceOwl Splinters, 2011, Type 08022:13 Heitor Alvelos - Had a Scanner been born on the BopsphorusEssays on Radio: Can I Have 2 minutes of Your Time, 2005, Crónica 02022:48 Max Eastley - Aerophones 5Installation Recordings (1973 - 2008), 2010, Paradigm Discs, PD2623:14 The Green Kingdom - Velvet LandscapeHidden Landscapes, 2011, Audio Gourmet AGCD00326:10 The Fun Years - Re: We're Again Buried UnderBaby It's Cold Inside, 2008, Barge Recordings, BRG00528:17 Steve Peters - Hymne (pour un Fils des Étoiles)Erik Satie et les Nouveaux Jeunes, 2011, Arbouse ARBOU02830:58 Gareth Davis & Machinefabriek - Grower, part 1Grower, 2011, Sonic Pieces 01037:28 Sussan Deyhim - PulsePossessed, 2001, Venus Rising Records40:44 Carl Michael von Hausswolff - Life and Death of PbocLife and Death of Pboc, 1986, Radium 226.05 RAPH 013-4(also in the 'Enter the Void' Soundtrack, 2010)42:08 Michel Banabila - The FallAlice in Wonderland & Various Other Works, 2010, unreleased43:47 Eluvium - Ogives RedistributedErik Satie et les Nouveaux Jeunes, 2011, Arbouse ARBOU02846:05 Lexithimie - Flesh and StonesI Rather Die Terrified, 2010, Audio Gourmet AGN01847:28 Antonymes - A Fragile AcceptanceThe Licence to Interpret Dreams, 2011, Hidden Shoal Recordings50:55 Deaf Center - Fiction DawnOwl Splinters, 2011, Type 08052:21 Chris Watson - Runway O2EIncidental Amplifications, 2006, Room40, EDRM40553:03 Alva Noto - Interim (for Dieter Rams)For 2, 2010, Line Line_04454:00 Pleq - Good Night, Pjusk RemixGood Night EP, 2010, Basses Frequences BF2958:06 Porzellan - Nebuleuse IIThe Fourth Level of Comprehension, 2009, Hibernate HB031:00:00 End
