Ben Affleck kehrt in "The Accountant 2" zurück als Christian Wolff.
AI Motion Capture can be a game-changer for orthopedics. Dr. Adam Whitman of Medbridge discusses how we can benefit and what we have to be careful of when using AI Motion Capture. Everything has AI now, what does motion capture with AI mean? AI has been around since the internet started. As hardware improves so can the calculations the computers can do. Self-driving cars example - cows falling from abridge…what would you do vs what would a computer do? AI does really well in processing huge amounts of data rapidly and consistently. The physics problems in movement patterns allow for AI to be used for growth and improvement. The machine has to be fed. ROM is easy to capture and accurately measure. The computer is limited in cases like spinal movement. Theoretical AI Motion Capture concepts Look at the FMS - they are built to be read against functional norms. It has been confirmed against many hundreds of thousands of instances. We are looking for the potential for injury. Think about scapular winging…it is like building a house on a concrete foundation vs building on a swamp…which one is built to last. Some algorithms are being fed based on info so they begin looking for biased outcomes. One AI model determining which patients should be prioritized from an insurance standpoint became racist because it was being fed biased information. The algorithmic process can remove the bias when it is fed comprehensive data. ChatGPT is now its own prompt engineer that allows you to ask average questions and get really good answers. I look forward to when we can feed the movement into the machine and let it run its analysis without our input. Think about re-captcha…computers are still bad at identifying objects in pictures. Humans are still needed. Your movement analysis is your movement fingerprint. That can become a movement profile with each new recording. What does that look like for the Athletic Trainer? Emphasis on prevention of injury to the athlete as opposed to reaction-based interventions - reduce the likelihood of an ankle sprain or ACL tear by catching fault movement patterns before the injury occurs Contact Us: Dr. Adam Whitman - adam.whitman@medbridge.com Jeremy Jackson - @SportsMedicineBroadcast on IG

The rising budgets and obstacles to putting together a short film or video production leaves many filmmakers waking up each day not actually telling any stories. It's just too involved to do it on any old story. It has to be worth it. But that thinking has prevented a lot of voices from not being heard. But we are now in a point in time where tech-driven tools are removing all those obstacles for filmmakers.Host Peter Frelik meets up with the first professional YouTuber Cory Williams as they explore how he has been able to express himself in short stories using only Unreal Engine and a Motion Capture suit. He shares his insights and his production pipeline for any aspiring filmmakers wanting to give this method a chance (02:31).Then Cory breaks down what can make you stand out in this category, how to think about movement in story and understanding the way to use this tech to produce truly authentic work (26:35). Wes Ball, the director renowned for his work on the CGI-laden "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes," has made clear his vision for the upcoming live-action adaptation of "The Legend of Zelda." In a revealing interview with Polygon, Ball expressed his preference for a more grounded approach rather than relying entirely on motion capture technology. Despite the increasing popularity of motion capture in big-budget films, notably used in films like "Avatar," Ball is steering the Zelda project away from becoming a fully mo-capped fantasy. "It probably isn't my choice," he stated, emphasizing his desire to anchor the film in realism. This decision stems from his recent experiences where he directed extensive CGI sequences but now seeks to blend live-action elements seamlessly with digital enhancements. Ball, who has long been vocal about his interest in bringing Nintendo's iconic series to the big screen, reflected on his journey since 2010 when he first envisioned directing a Zelda movie. Initially, he imagined it as "the next big mo-cap Avatar-like movie," but his perspective has shifted over the years. He aims to create an immersive yet tangible world that honors the spirit of the beloved game series. In his latest project, "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes," Ball utilized motion capture to significant effect, revealing plans to include a "raw" cut in its home media release to showcase the technology. He described the process as a fun experience that offered a taste of the Avatar-style filmmaking but now seeks a different path for Zelda. "We're working hard, and we're gonna make something great," Ball confidently told Polygon. His dedication to merging traditional filmmaking techniques with modern technology suggests a fresh take on Zelda that could captivate both long-time fans and new audiences. As the film industry continues to evolve with technological advancements, Ball's approach to "The Legend of Zelda" highlights a pivotal trend: the balancing act between digital wizardry and the authentic storytelling that ground-breaking narratives require.

You can read a transcript for this episode here.Think back to your favorite childhood TV show—was it “Blue's Clues”? “Little Bear”? “Winnie the Pooh”? Animated TV shows are important for kids because they can teach them to read, draw, spell, and talk. Plus, the ways these shows tell stories and create colorful, fictitious worlds can broaden children's knowledge and capacity to imagine. But children's shows aren't accessible to all deaf children, which means they could miss out on a common learning experience. Among other things, that can set kids back in learning both American Sign Language (ASL) and English language skills during their formative early childhood years.Melissa Malzkuhn is third-generation Deaf and the founder and director of the Motion Light Lab at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. Her lab is creating ASL-focused children's media that is made by and for the Deaf community, using motion capture technology, avatars, animation, and signing storytellers. She talks with Science Friday guest host Arielle Duhaime-Ross about ASL access in childhood, the science of learning, and how she's creating “Here Comes Mavo!”—the first animated TV series with signing characters. Many thanks to Jennifer Vold for interpreting and to Jenna Beacom for consulting on this segment.Editor's note: Regarding capitalization for “Deaf” and “deaf,” we believe this is an unsettled issue. For about 30 years, it was common to use capitalization to denote cultural deafness. In recent years, some national deaf organizations, like the National Deaf Center, have decided to use lowercase in their messaging to be more inclusive. Some individuals, however, prefer the capitalized version. We ask our guests to self-describe and capitalize at their request, and use “deaf” for non-self-describing communities.Universe of Art is hosted and produced by D. Peterschmidt, who also wrote the music. The original segment was produced by Rasha Aridi. Our show art was illustrated by Abelle Hayford. Robert Zemeckis was one of the most prominent directors of the eighties and nineties. His string of hits is almost unmatched. Think about it - Romancing the Stone, the Back to the Future Trilogy, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Forrest Gump, Cast Away, What Lies Beneath, etc. This is why it's so bizarre that a live-action Disney Pinocchio movie directed by Zemeckis and starring his best favorite leading man, Tom Hanks, was essentially dumped to streaming. It came and went without much fanfare, while it would have been a cinematic event fifteen years ago. WTF Happened? In this episode of WTF Happened to this Celebrity, we dig into Zemeckis' career, which began with the underrated pair I Wanna Hold Your Hand and Used Cars before Romancing the Stone made him an A-lister. We dig into how he was actually fired from Cocoon because the Fox brass thought Romancing the Stone would flop, leading to him making Back to the Future with pal Steven Spielberg. We dig into the then-impossible idea of mixing live-action and animation in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, show some love to Forrest Gump, and examine some underrated gems like Death Becomes Her.But WTF Happened to Robert Zemeckis? In the 2000s, Zemeckis became a proponent of Motion Capture technology, leading to The Polar Express and Beowulf, movies which are a little uncanny valley if you revisit them today. Even if he's not quite the mega-watt hitmaker he once was, with films like Welcome to Marwen being disastrous, he's still capable of making gems like the fantastic Denzel Washington movie Flight. In this episode of WTF Happened to this Celebrity, which is written (with Mathew Plale), narrated and edited by Taylor James Johnson, we dig into the director's life, legacy and future.

You get an interview, YOU get an interview, and YOU GET AN INTERVIEW! This week, the brilliant impressionist and comedian Debra Wilson sits down with us. You Might Know Her From Mad TV, Scary Movie 4, Dead 7, Over the Hedge, The Christmas Chronicles, Avatar, and as the voice of Daisy Duck. Debra gave us all the intel on working on late night sketch mainstay MadTV, including singing opposite herself, hitting Mariah Carey whistle tones, and rubbing elbows with Oscar winners. Obviously, we got into Debra's iconic impressions of Whitney Houston and Oprah Winfrey and the unfortunate story behind her departure after eight seasons. All that, plus her instrumental role in developing the Na'vi people and Neytiri in Avatar, living in the “Debra Wilson metaverse” in video games, and acting opposite nearly every boy bander from the aughts.
