On their weekly Penn State football podcast, presented by FanDuel, host Adam Bittner and Post-Gazette/Daily Collegian Nittany LIons insider Isaiah Maldonado take stock of the Penn State coaching search with a primetime game against coach Matt Rhule and Nebraska looming this week. Is Rhule still a live option to return to his alma mater? Despite an extension signed with the Cornhuskers within the last few weeks, and a lousy career record against nationally ranked competition? Will James Franklin potentially cause problems for whomever is the next Penn State coach now that his hiring at Virginia Tech is official? Is Terry Smith forcing his way into the conversation with the team's improved play and his emotional investment in the program that went viral this week? And where do names like Kalen DeBoer and Brian Daboll fit into the conversation? Our duo tackles those topics, plus the game this week. Should Penn State be favored so heavily at home? Will Dani Dennis-Sutton, Ethan Grunkemeyer, Zakee Wheatley and the Lions still be motivated after delivering Smith's first win? And how good are Kaytron Allen's chances to break Evan Royster's career rushing record? Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. How was Penn State able to snap its long, six-game losing streak? Is it a sign of good things to come throughout the rest of the season for interim coach Terry Smith? Or is it just a one-time thing as the Nittany Lions look forward to 2026? How was Kaytron Allen able to find success as he nears the Penn State all-time rushing record? And how did Ethan Grunkemeyer look as he continues to develop in Andy Kotelnicki's offense? Our duo answers those questions and more. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Host Adam Bittner welcomes Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise to ponder Penn State football's future in the Big Ten landscape amid Indiana's meteoric rise with the two teams facing off this weekend. This show is presented by FanDuel. Are the second-ranked Hoosiers a short-term flash in the pan under coach Curt Cignetti? Or are they here to stay beyond 2025? Do they have the resources to challenge the Nittany Lions on the field in the years to come? Or will they revert into something closer to their historical also-ran status in the Big Ten? And what's the importance of Terry Smith, Ethan Grunkemeyer, Kaytron Allen and Dani Dennis-Sutton managing an upset this weekend at the program level? Our duo tackles those questions; the possibility that Curt Cignetti could still be an option in the Penn State coaching search to replace James Franklin; and the viability of other candidates including Texas A&M's Mike Elko, Vanderbilt's Clark Lea and Georgia Tech's Brent Key. On their weekly Penn State football podcast, presented by FanDuel, host Adam Bittner welcomes Post-Gazette/Daily Collegian Nittany Lions insider Isaiah Maldonado to sort through the team's recurring issues in the wake of the loss to Ohio State. Did James Franklin whiff harder on hiring Andy Kotelnicki as OC or Jim Knowles as DC? On the offensive side, why is Kotelnicki so devoted to gimmicky plays without Tyler Warren still on the roster? Has Drew Allar been exonerated by the offense's continuing struggles without him? Are receivers Trebor Pena, Kyron Hudson and Devote Ross this bad? Or is the vertical passing game they're playing in just poorly conceived by their coordinator? And what can we make of Ethan Grunkemeyer's performance in this offense so far? On the defensive side of the ball, was Knowles just too much of a philosophical shift from Tom Allen and Manny Diaz? Why haven't Dani Dennis-Sutton, Zane Durant and Zuriah Fisher had more success up front? Were they overrated? Or has Knowles misused them? And why didn't Knowles have better solutions for Julian Sayin, Jeremiah Smith and the Buckeyes offense he was so familiar with, having coached alongside it last season? Our duo tackles those questions, then briefly previews this week's matchup with second-ranked Indiana at Beaver Stadium. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. In this episode of [Podcast Name], we break down Penn State's heartbreaking 25-24 loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes at Kinnick Stadium—the Nittany Lions' fourth straight defeat in Iowa City by five points or fewer. Join us as we dissect how the defense, ranked 71st against the run, crumbled in the second half, giving up massive chunks on the ground including a game-changing 67-yard scamper by Iowa QB Mark Gronowski that set up the winning touchdown. Iowa racked up 245 rushing yards at 7.4 yards per carry, exposing ongoing vulnerabilities that have plagued PSU in recent games. We also dive into the two-QB system deployed in the absence of starter Drew Allar, with redshirt freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer getting the nod (15/28 for 93 yards, but two costly INTs) and backup Jaxon Smolik rotating in for key scrambles and option plays— a strategy reminiscent of last season's approach but one that couldn't seal the deal. Plus, the latest on Penn State's head coaching search following James Franklin's firing: Interim coach Terry Smith dropped his debut, but he's emerging as a candidate himself. Offense vs Washington Starts at 1:05 Pay no attention to the background noise from the drag show at Venue. This game was vanilla and we like that. Bryce Underwood had a fabulous day despite losing about 50 yards from drops. There seems to be a big difference between Road Bryce and Home Bryce. Michigan didn't take many deep shots because the short stuff was working great and Washington has tall corners. The remaining road games shouldn't be nearly as threatening as the previous three. The game is over but they have a designed run for Bryce? Jordan Marshall isn't Justice Haynes but he gets a lot of yards after contact. He's still working on re-gapping but overall an excellent first start for him. Jasper Parker looked fine. Under Harbaugh not much changed between offensive coordinators, but with Chip Lindsey a lot has changed already. He was dealing in the first touchdown drive. When's the last time we came out of a game thinking "oh wow they nuked the defensive coordinator?" How do we feel about going for it on 4th down and passing it to Mr. Dropsies? Running it up the middle is probably a 70% conversion, throwing it to Semaj is also a 70% conversion but for different reasons. Evan Link looks to be done for the year. Bryce's first scramble was Frazier getting knocked backwards, he seems fine but doesn't quite have the oomf that Evan Link does. Zack Marshall had a great game, what happened to the starting tight ends? Overall the offensive line was fine.  2. Defense vs Washington Starts at 34:40 The defense only gave up seven points but everyone is still a little mad. Michigan runs a pretty vanilla defense and it works nicely because college quarterbacks are going to make mistakes. Oden did intercept the ball but uhh... it was not because of his performance. Washington shot themselves in the foot but also Jaishawn Barham was much more responsible. Wink is not forgiven but it was nice that this game plan was simplified and it was fine. A lot of defensive tackle rotation but not everybody is a play maker. Is Lou Esposito the one rotating the tackles so much? Maybe part of the chaos on defense is you don't get used to playing next to the same guy every snap. This will not be a -33 RPS day. Jyaire Hill is not getting targeted very much.  3. Hot Takes, Game Theory, and Special Teams Starts at 58:19 Takes hotter than the bangin' drag show going on during the recording of this podcast. Brian apologizes once again for changing "AHHH YOU PUT IT THROUGH THE UPRIGHTS" and disrupting the cosmic balance. Zvada misses another field goal but gets the game sealer. Punting was a 35 yarder and then a rocket. No major complains about Semaj on punt returns except that he hit the spin button at the wrong time. The 4th and 1 drop to Semaj was unfortunate. What about the 4th and 2 on the 6? The whistle blew too early. Max Bredeson's holding call is the worst holding call since that Northwestern holding call. Stadium vibe: some people could actually use their phones! It should not take nine minutes to get a $9 coke, the athletic department doesn't pay close attention to the small things. Apparently concession people at Yost don't get paid but the athletic department can finally install cell phone towers at Michigan Stadium after 11 years under Warde.  4. Around the Big Ten with Jamie Mac Starts at 1:26:57 Iowa 25, Penn State 24 The nicest thing you can say about Penn State is that a lot of big programs are in collapse. Drew Allar's career is over, Ethan Grunkemeyer throws for 93 yards and throws two interceptions. Iowa threw for 68 yards but ran for 245 yards, Iowa should just run the triple option!  UCLA 20, Maryland 17 You gotta respect Maryland's commitment to one Army drive and then not doing a thing after. UCLA looked like the better team all game. This was a Big Ten [wild wild] West game. This is Maryland's third straight heartbreaking loss, they can't finish games with a freshman QB. There's still a path to a bowl.  Indiana 38, Michigan State 13 Shout out to everyone who listened to this on Spartan Radio. Indiana's offense was extremely efficient. Fernando Mendoza was 24/28 for 332 yards and four touchdowns. Indiana football fans were mad that they weren't winning by more. Did Indiana give up enough passing yards to be concerned with playoff implications for the Hoosiers? Northwestern 19, Purdue 0 Northwestern gets one 76 yard scoring drive and that's about all the scoring in this game. Don't let the score fool you into thinking that Northwestern has figured something out.  Notre Dame 34, USC 24 USC takes a 3rd quarter lead followed by Notre Dame getting a kickoff return. Then USC just falls apart in the 4th quarter. This was frustrating to watch as a Michigan fan.  Ohio State 34, Wisconsin 0 134 total yards for Wisconsin and that's generous. Oh god they play Oregon next weekend. Minnesota 24, Nebraska  Dylan Raiola is sacked nine times, that's too many times. Nebraska had just entered the top 25 and has now exited the top 25. A left tackle was ejected for targeting! Shout out to Minnesota fans for really filling the stadium on a Friday night.  Oregon 56, Rutgers 10 14 different Oregon players went for at least 10 yards on a play. Oregon was very upset about their Indiana game. Somehow there wasn't a rutger. Oregon had 233 breakaway yards, Rutgers had 202 total yards.  MUSIC: "Brand New Second Hand"—Peter Tosh "It's Not Easy"—Ofege "Plain as Your Eyes Can See"—Jim Sullivan “Across 110th Street”—JJ Johnson and his Orchestra

They officially introduced the 2024 freshman class for the first time during a two-hour interview session with the young players. Reporter Greg Pickel was at the event and joins the show today to discuss what he heard and learned from yesterday. We'll also be discussing the latest in the Penn State running backs coach search and more. Join the BWI Live Show at 10 a.m. on YouTube, catch the replay on the channel, here on the site, or anywhere you get your podcasts. The latest on the Penn State running backs coach search Yesterday, Franklin discussed the timeline and criteria for the team's running backs coach search during his roughly 40-minute talking to the media. While we'll get into those details later in the show, we'll start with the latest names that are part of the search. Pickel will discuss what he knows about who is in the candidate pool. He'll also discuss what the freshmen running backs had to say about the situation during their interviews with the media yesterday afternoon. Between the Lines Next, we'll discuss the coaching search from Franklin's perspective. He discussed what he's looking for in his next leader of the running back room. He once again stressed that the team doesn't have time to wait and needs a coach who can immediately make an impact. However, he brought up some other topics within that answer that may or may not have to do with the current coaching search. We'll discuss those thoughts, plus potential changes to spring football during Between the Lines. Freshman Media Day Finally, we'll discuss the young players we talked to and the main takeaways from those conversations. From Cooper Cousins to Ethan Grunkemyer, we met with the entire freshman class, and we'll discuss what we learned about the personalities on display yesterday. We'll also discuss the information about player development and goals for the coming year. Want to ask a question about your favorite player we met yesterday? Join the show in the live chat and discuss it with us! We'll take questions and comments during the hour-long show. #PennState  #NittanyLions  JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annualSUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmationBookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters:  https://bluewhiteonline.com Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3

On Today's BWI Live show, we discuss how the linebacker position is shaping up through spring football. We'll also discuss how Jaxon Smolik's injury affects now third-string quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer. Join the show today at 10 a.m. on YouTube, or check out the replay embedded in this article. Penn State defensive adjustments a work in progress While Penn State fans are excited about Abdul Carter's move to defensive end, the team still needs to sort out details about the move. Head coach James Franklin preached caution about the move being a slam-dunk positive for everyone involved this spring. “Moving Abdul to defensive end, everybody's excited about but it has an impact on our linebacker room, too,” he said last week. We discuss the issues that moving Carter created for the team's linebackers and what that group needs to do to make up for the loss of an impact player at the position. Franklin thinks that it will take time beyond spring football. “So hopefully, they'll finish out the spring on a real positive and have a really good spring game and go into the summer with some confidence,” Franklin said. “And then again, a couple of weeks into summer camp, feeling like we have depth there. Because right now, ‘we've got to create some more depth there to feel good about.” Jaxon Smolik injury puts a new spotlight on Ethan Grunkemeyer Blue White Illustrated's Ryan Snyder broke the news this week that backup quarterback Jaxon Smolik would miss extended time with an injury suffered this spring. During today's Ask T-Frank segment, we dive into what this means for the team and four-star freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer. What should Penn State fans know about the former top-ten passer in the Class of 2024? We'll discuss his spring so far. Freshmen who could contribute this year Finally, we end the show discussing the Penn State freshmen who could have an impact and burn their redshirts this season. While Cooper Cousins is an obvious favorite to do so, who could join him? We make the case for running back Quinton Martin and several defensive players. However, there are fewer roles or spots for incoming freshmen than there were several years ago. We discuss that dynamic to end the show. #PennState #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annual SUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmation Bookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/ Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: https://bluewhiteonline.com Download our podcasts: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/LRL3155877513?selected=DSVV2664982394 Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/ Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3 Sound effects obtained from https://www.zapsplat.com Learn more about your ad choices. There was significant portal movement on the roster, and the team's top prospects participated in all-star games. We're covering it all, plus the upcoming portal recruiting weekend already in high gear. Join the BWI Live Show at 10 a.m. on YouTube, or check out the replay on the site. We're discussing the week's most crucial roster movement news and taking your questions on the show! Recruiting insiders Ryan Snyder and Sean Fitz break it all down for you on the show. Penn State receiver movement While it's been in the works for a while, former Ohio State wide receiver Julian Fleming officially joined Penn State out of the transfer portal. Fleming didn't announce the move, but social media got word of his intentions. Hours before his commitment, on the transfer portal deadline for January, receiver Dante Cephas entered his name into the portal. The one-year Penn State wide receiver caught 22 passes for 246 yards and two touchdowns in a frustrating season for both Cephas and fans. We'll recap his time at Penn State and discuss the transition to the team's latest addition in Fleming. Not all of it is portal news The team also got significant retention news on Wednesday with the announcement that veteran defensive tackle Dvon Ellies is returning for a bonus season. We'll discuss how important Ellie is to the defensive tackle rotation and what he means for Tom Allen's defense as he settles in as the new Penn State defensive coordinator. Yet, the portal is critical for Penn State's chances next fall in their attempt to reload at key positions. Fitz and Snyder will discuss the upcoming transfer portal recruiting weekend and what fans need to know about this important window. There's already one visitor on campus, which you can read about here in an article Fitz posted Thursday morning. Penn State recruiting update While some of the staff focus on the portal, junior days start in January, which are an essential part of the recruiting calendar. Snyder is tracking the players joining Penn State to learn more about the program and set up the next phase for the 2025 cycle. Finally, we'll discuss the all-star bowls that several Penn State players attended this past week. Quarterback commit Ethan Grunkemeyer, and lineman Donovan Harbour was at the Under Armour Bowl in Florida and competed during the game Wednesday afternoon. Fitz traveled down for the week to check out the practice and has his thoughts about how the duo performed outside of the game. #PennState #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annual SUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmation Bookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/ Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: https://bluewhiteonline.com Download our podcasts: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/LRL3155877513?selected=DSVV2664982394 Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/ Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3 Sound effects obtained from https://www.zapsplat.com Penn State Roster movement, Recruiting Update Learn more about your ad choices. The transfer portal window is about to open, but the team has to secure it's Class of 2024 and make late-game adjustments to the class if the opportunities present. It's a hectic time for the staff, made more hectic by the offensive coordiantor search. We're discussing how all of the pieces fit together on today's BWI Live Recruiting Show. We'll focus on the team's final preparations for the early signing period in December and what fans should expect out of the Dec. 8 official visit weekend. We'll also disucss the Class of 2024 rankings update from Thanksgiving and explain who moved up and why.  Join the show today at 10 a.m. on YouTube so you don't miss any of the news and conversation about Penn State recruiting!  Penn State misses out on Andrew Dennis The Nittany Lions have successfully pulled an offensive lineman into the last few classes after securing the bulk of the group during the standard recruiting windows. This year, former Michigan State offensive line commit Andrew Dennis was the target. However, the team missed on getting a commitment with Dennis announcing earlier this week that he was committing to Illinois. We'll discuss the impact on the group Penn State has assembled and what happens next for Penn State among the late push for players in this cycle.  Recruiting insider Ryan Snyder put together a tally of how many players visited Penn State throughout the 2023 home football schedule. He'll compare how the team did in September and October against the late-season noon kicks. He'll also discuss several other interesting nuggets he found when looking back at the current month.  Penn State gets good news with "underrated recruits" The most recent rankings updates for the Class of 2024 came out during the holiday week. We're recapping which players made significant moves in the latest On300 update. Why did Luke Reynolds and Ethan Grunkemeyer go from afterthoughts int he class to top-ten players? Check out the YouTube video to see highlights from their senior seasons.  What's next? The transfer portal will heat up quickly for Penn State. While we've covered what Penn State needs on several of the last shows, we'll recap the players Penn State has put a public offer into and what fans should expect when the portal goes live next week.  Finally, we'll preview the Dec. 8 official visit weekend and if fans should expect news between then and now of players making their way to Happy Valley to check out Penn State Football.  Learn more about your ad choices. So, reporter Ryan Snyder decided to see how they were faring. He's compiled the most impressive stats from the Class of 2024 and joins the BWI Live Show to discuss which players are having the most impactful seasons for their high school teams. Join the show to hear how quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer, running back Quinton Martin, receiver Peter Gonzalez and defensive end Mylachi Williams, among others, have done so far this year. He'll also give his thoughts on the new conference schedule that the Big Ten released last week and how the team has played so far this season. Join the BWI Live show at 10 a.m. on YouTube to hear what Snyder has learned about the Class of 2024 and beyond. Subscribe to the show so you don't miss any of our live or breaking news content. Penn State commit stats Earlier this week, Snyder wrote about the offensive and defensive players who have so far this year. https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/news/how-have-penn-states-2024-defensive-commits-performed-so-far-this-season/ https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/news/how-have-penn-states-2024-offensive-commits-performed-so-far-this-season/ On today's show, Snyder will highlight the players that stood out to him during his class performance research. Penn State linebacker commit Anthony Speca is “Penn State's most impressive players this season” from a statistical standpoint. Snyder will explain how prolific Speca has been and the show will discuss where he's improved during his final year in high school. Offensively, Snyder broke down Grunkemeyer's season game-by-game. He discusses the impact that the senior quarterback has had on his team's win-loss record as well. We'll break down the offensive players and their individual impacts on their teams as well. Blue-Chip talent While the Penn State Class of 2024 ranks outside the top ten, it doesn't mean they're without serious talent. We'll discuss an article from Greg Pickel earlier today, outlining an impressive fact about the makeup of the team's 2024 class. Snyder will also give his thoughts on the current Penn State squad's performance through five games and what sort of second half he expects them to have in 2023. What sort of impact can this year have on 2024 and beyond? We'll get his thoughts about the new Big Ten schedule and how the Nittany Lion's path to a future playoff berth shakes out. Once again, the Nittany Lions came out slow in the first half, with the score tied 10-10 heading into the break. The team then ripped off 17 unanswered points to put the game away in the third frame. Today, we'll discuss the Penn State offensive identity through the season's first five games. We'll pair that with the team philosophy and how the team's complimentary football approach works right now. Then, we'll dip into recruiting and give an updated evaluation of some of Penn State's Class of 2024 players by doing a live scouting session on the show. Want to be part of the conversation? Join the BWI Live show today at 10 a.m. on YouTube. Blue White Illustrated publisher Sean Fitz will discuss his thoughts on the game, the development of the 2024 class, and more! Subscribe to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube so you don't miss any live content. Penn State vs. Northwestern, offensive identity Penn State football made few splashy plays against Northwestern, but they did find a way to win and win big. But is that lack of dominant, consistent performance from Drew Allar and company a concern? Fitz will discuss that facet of the team, which has become the obsession of Penn State fans. Also, we'll discuss the Penn Stae running game as well. How far off are the Nittany Lions from breaking big runs? We'll discuss the offensive progress through five games and try to identify common themes that will factor into the next half of the year. Defensive dominance The Nittany Lion's defense was once again the engine of destruction for another Big Ten offense. How good is this group? We'll discuss how the Penn State defensive line dictated the action of Saturday's game and how it led to another dominant performance. Penn State Class of 2024 update Finally, we'll look at the Penn State recruiting class of 2024 as they're progressing into the second half of their senior season. We'll play the most recent highlights from many of the commits to see where they're improving and how their games will translate to the next level. We'll discuss the play of quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer, running back Quinton Martin, offensive lineman Garrett Sexton, and tight end Luke Reynolds to highlight the list. Penn State fans got a surprise last month when unheralded quarterback from Ohio, Ethan Grunkemeyer, committed to the Nittany Lions a day before he was named the MVP of the Elite 11 regional in State College. The three-star quarterback is a late riser in the Class of 2024.  Today, the host of the BWI Daily Edition, Thomas Frank Carr, talks with Grunkemeyer's quarterback coach, Brad Maendler. Maendler is the same coach that helped former five-star quarterback and current Penn State player Drew Allar rise from an unknown player into a top prospect in the Class of 2022.  Maendler sits down with T-Frank to discuss Grunkemeyer's skills and to give insight into where Allar is heading into his first presumed year as a starter. Check out the full conversation on YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts. Below is a recap of some of the highlights about Grunkemeyer.  Maendler noticed something special about Grunkemeyer  It's no surprise that Grunkemeyer's quarterback coach would believe in him more than others, but Maendler also has social media receipts that back up his confidence that Grunkemeyer would blow up this spring. T-Frank reads those comments back to Maendler on the show about Penn State's 2024 QB commit. But Maendler says that steam around Grunkemeyer began building before the camp season he predicted would be great for the young QB.  “It actually started happening before that, and the galvanizing of his recruiting really kind of dates back to January, late January, when it was to contact period where coaches were actually going out seeing him throw, and it was a chance for coaches to kind of see how the ball comes out of his hand, to confirm height, weight and those kinds of things,” Maendler says on the show. And he was getting tremendous feedback from coaches. In fact, I remember one of the times his mom had mentioned to me that Pat Fitzgerald, head coach at Northwestern, was there, and Pat Fitzgerald was raving about the way he was throwing the football, and I just started, you know, getting like a steady and consistent sort of messages.” Penn State getting a “human Jugs Machine”  Maendler's praise for Grunkemeyer is laced with instructional evidence from a quarterback coach's perspective. For T-Frank, a film analyst, and Maendler, the consistency of the young quarterback is a standout trait. Maendler explains this as creating “best version throws”. “One of the things that I talked to the kids about is we've got to work towards “best version throws.” Ideally a best version throw is when you look your best it's with spin and velocity and ball placement, appropriate velocity because sometimes we need to change speeds.” The consistency in his mechanics led Grunkemeyer to an Elite 11 finals appearance in Los Angeles later this month. But it's not just accuracy, Grunkemeyer has a strong arm, according to Maendler. Penn State may have found a steal in this regard.  “He's in the top 1% of his class. You know, I think just I've seen a lot of the '24 guys throw and, you know, I think maybe you've got [Dominic] Rayola, and you've got Ethan with probably two or three other kids that that's how much velocity he throws with. And where you really see it is his intermediate velocity, the throws he makes, where he has to drive the ball in between people or, you know, to ball throws where he's got to get it over the under coverage. But in front of the over coverage and just that ability to have that arc and pace on that football it's it's really impressive.” The pair discuss Grunkemeyer further before switching to discuss Allar and the next Maendler quarterback protege, 2025 passer Ryan Montgomery. Penn State is actively recruiting Montgomery, and Maendler discuses what he's seen of the relationship between those two parties.  Learn more about Penn State's unheralded but talented quarterback commit Ethan Grunkemeyer from his QB coach, Brad Maendler.  Learn more about your ad choices.
