The first thing you do in hypnotherapy setting is to build rapport, which makes people feel comfortable, and therefore respond to the hypnosis much better. I use affirmations which I deliver at a certain point in the recording, and also use sound frequencies to make the recordings enjoyable to listen to, and experiential. I've made the recordings over a 20-year period and they've changed over time, and now I generalize the recordings and make them work for the majority. There are times I've re-recorded an old recording, and then people write in and ask for the original because they feel connected with it. When I make recordings, I totally believe in what I'm saying and what I'm delivering. You just have to be right for this job, because if you're in the right place, you get that ability to be able to help others. I saw a stage hypnotist doing his thing and I saw something in it in that moment, and that's what sparked my interest then went off and learned the therapeutic side. I never intentionally started to make recordings for any kind of business plan. I did it for a client who asked me for a recorded session. I started recording more tapes and sold them off to stores and it took off very quickly. I was meditating and doing affirmations about being in the right place at the right time, and my unconscious mind my conscious mind, were working in perfect synergy. I got a call from Nielsen book data and they said that I could have a gold disc for my title, because I had sold a quarter of a million pounds' worth, and I got a gold disc. I then realized I could use that as leverage promotional thing and I put that out there on all social media which led to BBC offering me a deal for all of my recordings. All the time I was working on my unconscious to clear away any negative failure programming because without doing that, it would have been much harder and I wouldn't have got this far. If you take on board these affirmations and these beliefs on a deep level, the world responds to you and is incredible. This life is an amazing opportunity to grow and heal our Karma and awaken, and naturally, looking inside and meditation is the way to find that. A lot of my work is about helping people who are stuck, to move forward and work on themselves and go for the delayed gratification instead of the short term pleasure. Episode Summary Welcome back to the show! I've got to admit, I am a little starstruck by my guest today. My story with today's guest dates back to March 2020— COVID 19 virus rears its ugly head. We are brought literally to our knees with global instability, struggling economies, people being hospitalized and even dying alone not able to be surrounded by their loved. Let's take a moment to realized the trauma we have been living through -it has been a really difficult year. And despite being a meditation teacher and a meditation student for almost twenty years, I started to struggle a little with sleep at the beginning of coronavirus. As a meditation teacher on Insight Timer myself, and user of the Breethe meditation app, I was familiar with Glenn Harrold's meditations and hypnotherapies, but when my sleep started to change at the beginning of COVID, I rediscovered Glenn, and consistently, I mean religiously started meditating 7 nights a week without fail to his hynotherapies and meditations before bed. My sleep became so deep and so restorative that my husband started asking me what was going on, “You close your eyes Erica and you don't even so much as move until the morning!” Thank you Glenn! Glenn's start in life was colourful to say the least. From the age of 12, he often slept rough on the streets as a result of a dysfunctional home life. At 15 he was expelled from school. He then fell in with the wrong crowd, and experimented with drugs and alcohol and was on first name terms with the local magistrate! After a major health scare at 17 caused by excessive alcohol abuse and a warning from a doctor, he took the necessary measures to free himself from his old destructive ways. Today Glenn is a world away from those self-destructive patterns of behaviour. He is a non-smoker of 25 years, a vegetarian, a fitness fan and drinks only very occasionally. He plays club tennis five times a week, practises yoga, swims, and uses self-hypnosis and meditation to achieve his goals. Glenn's entreprenurial skills have allowed him to build his company Diviniti Publishing into a thriving business, producing and distributing high quality self-help MP3s, CDs, Apps, books and DVDs. Diviniti has signed a number of other authors and currently has a catalogue of over 100 titles. The aim of the company is to publish and distribute self-help products of the highest quality that genuinely help people achieve great personal growth and overcome fears, problems or anxieties.
