Happy Monday loves! Today is such a good episode to kick off our week! Its SO important during these times to keep our Mind right & be Mentally healthy & Fit!! Today Ali sits down with Stephen Sokoler, the CEO of Journey Meditation to talk about his journey with meditation, why he created the space and app and his mission. Stephen shares as an entrepreneur his story as a businessman and how he found meditation and how it then transformed his life. Stephen tells us his own journey with meditation and how it changed his life! Even more so than losing 85 lbs physically, he had more of a transformation with meditation! Journey the company is all about when you transform your mind, you transform your life! How many times have you thought or heard meditation is hard?! Stephen & Journey is here to show you it's not. Stephen talks about the practice of Meditation itself and how it can be so transforming and truly is a practice. Stephen shares with Ali the subtle changes you will see and how overtime it becomes beneficial to your overall life and a much bigger transformation. Ali shares with Stephen how transformational meditation has been for her life overall as well, and how Journey specifically has played a major part in the last year, especially now during the pandemic and when Ali was pregnant in quarantine and struggling. Journey is all about connecting to your breath, coming into your body, finding that pause, creating that practice. Stephen talks about how creating that type of time makes a big difference. Even if only 2-5 mins each time, create that pause for yourself in life. Consistency over Intensity. "Goem" - means to become familiar too, Stephen reminds us, you have to become familiar with this practice and your body too, to see results and changes in our lives.  How are you showing up for yourself?! Do you have a toolbox to help yourself when you get stuck? Pandemic or not, we all have hard times, and Stephen talks about how helpful meditation can be. Journey itself has live classes with teachers to guide you, specific topics like stress, self love, energy, connecting to purpose and more. Journey helps you learn how to be content with your life. Stop chasing, and start living! It's SO tempting to argue... To make the other person see your point of view, or how they were wrong and we were right! It feels so good to make them wrong... or does it? As soon as you defend yourself or leap at an emotional charge, you give your power away. And inevitably arguments go around in in circles, drain your energy, and ultimately, you miss an opportunity to evolve your soul, drop the ego that wants to win above all else and return to love.In this episode, find out more about leading with soul and recognising there is no genuine power in the small mind and its arguments—truth lies in the body and heart. Breathe. Feel. Let go. The pathway to God is more feeling, more realness, more love, more sex and LESS talking. This talk was recorded at Eliyah Tantra School’s Soul Leadership Retreat in 2019. IT'S HALFWAY THRU 2020 - & it's a NEW QUARTER! And I love that...cuz a new quarter is an opportunity to pivot, to learn, to make moves, and to set new goals! And I'm all about that. So in today's podcast, I'm going to be walking you through my process for doing a quarterly review. It's SO crucial because it keeps you intentional, gives you what you need in your life, and allows you to modify and course-correct moving forward. Plus, it helps you get more shit done than a yearly review process. And isn't THAT what all of us achievers want? It's a process that made up the foundations for my Take Back Your Life planner, and is something that I'm diligent about doing every 90-days. One planner user said: "I’m on track to hit every single goal! This has never happened before! I’ve been able to create and maintain habits I’ve wanted for years!” So basically, I'm not just blowing smoke up your @$$... Which is why this week we are going to blow the purpose models and consciousness we are taught in the current leadership and cultural paradigm out of the box! Using our feminine power and deep wisdom, we know that purpose is something within us -not out there. But how do you reveal it? How do you know if you are living on purpose or what you are giving your life force is in alignment with your purpose?  How does knowing your purpose and understanding how it's so intricately related to who you are as a soul, and human keep you out of burnout, overwhelm and a life half lived, or wasted on things that don't really matter? When you are on purpose, everything in your life aligns, and you feel in the flow, supported even if it's challenging (which is often is). But then again you didn't come here to lead a boring life, did you???   Today I, Christine Arylo, invite you to join me and a dear friend and woman I've had the honor to mentor and watch bloom into the embodiment of her purpose over the last decade, Jen Todd. While you may not recognize her name, you'll likely recognize the name of her son – Alex Honnold. In the off chance you don’t know who Alex is, he’s the guy who free solo’d El Capitan and was featured in the movie Free Solo. I won’t go into any more detail than that but, if you haven’t already, you should see this Oscar-winning movie, Free Solo – and Dierdre is in the movie by the way. So, yeah, Dierdre is Alex’s mom. And that fact might be interesting right there. But Dierdre has her own interesting story to share. She’s a woman who speaks multiple languages and who only speaks French to her two children. Because she’s passionate about music and saw the need for it in her hometown, she founded an orchestra in West Sacramento, CA. She began running when she was in her mid-50’s after telling herself all her life that she was not a runner (sound familiar?). She’s the author of numerous books with another one coming out in May called The Sharp End of Life: A Mother’s Story. If all that wasn’t inspirational enough? She began climbing when she was 57-years-old so she could better understand what it was that her son was doing. And eventually Alex led her up El Capitan after free solo’ing it himself when Deirdre was 66. She has a lot more to do and figures she’ll need to live to at least 125 to accomplish these many things. Dierdre is a fascinating woman. She really lives by her own rules (I mean, how many parents do you know that only speak to their children in a foreign language?). And what living by your own rules means is that you can accomplish a great many things. I know you’ll be inspired by this conversation with Dierdre Wolownick. ***** Have a burning question and want to be featured on a future episode? Win a pair of Jaybird Tarah bluetooth headphones ($100 value)! It's SO easy to enter! See details here. ***** Today’s conversation is with Lisa Betts-LaCroix. Lisa believes we all have our own unique superpower and as host of the SuperPower U Podcast, she dives in with her guests to reveal their mental models and tactical skills to uncover their very own superpower. Lisa has an interesting background. Living in LA as an actor, she wracked up credits in hundreds of television shows, films and movies-of-the-week. After she and her husband moved to the Bay Area and started having kids, she co-founded a network of families who educate their children outside of traditional schools – you’re likely familiar with home-schooling, unschooling or any number of names this is called. She didn’t like what she was seeing in public school so took her kids’ education into her own hands. Now that’s bold. And then, in her late 40s, she discovered ballroom dancing and within a very short period of time competing, won the World Title in Pro-Am American Rhythm Ballroom Dance. Pretty cool. This conversation veers into some really interesting talk about how our current language around getting older just doesn’t properly express what it means to age. Things have changed a lot in maybe just the past 10 years. People are talking about living to 120, 125, 180! When we set limits on how old we can live for healthily, those words affect the choices we make and how we’re seen. As you’ll hear in this conversation, neither of us has the answer – YET - to how to best approach the topic of our “middle years,” but we’re exploring it and trying to figure out. If, after hearing this episode, you have some ideas, by all means, share them with me! Hellllooooooo PhotoSpark listeners!!! It's SO good to be on the airwaves chatting with you guys again. We missed you BIG time!!! If you want to hear the inside scoop on where we've been & why we took a little hiatus, be sure to listen to the episode. We want to be an open book with you guys & we got super vulnerable, so it's a good one! Basically, side hustles are freaking HARD. It's so hard to prioritize something (especially if it's not making you any money... YET) when you have a million other things on your plate. If you've ever attempted a side hustle, especially collaborating with other people, you'll know that oftentimes they fall to the back burner, and run the risk of disappearing altogether. So how do you keep everything working & flowing & growing? Here are a few tips! Consistency is KEY: Instead of just working on your side hustles whenever you get the chance, set a schedule for yourself. Whether this means a set weekly meeting time, set office hours, or a formal deadline, keeping your work times consistent will make sure you don't neglect your side hustle, which will lead to its demise! Use a planner: We can't stress enough how using a planner helps us keep all of our daily to-do lists and goals clearly written out and organized. We all make sure to keep our planners extra cute too, so they're colorful & fun to look at. There's something special about crossing an item off your to-do list, and the more you do it, the more motivated you are to do more! Accept the ebb & flow: Part of being successful in just about anything, is accepting that there will be high parts & low parts of whatever you're doing. Some days, you'll feel AMAZING about what you're doing. You'll be motivated, you're getting great feedback coming in, and you can't wait to tackle the day's to-do list. Other times, you might hit a slump. Maybe you're lacking creativity, having a hard time coming up with new ideas, and feeling overwhelmed & stressed. There's ALWAYS a light at the tunnel. You have to work to see it sometimes, and if it really truly isn't there, then it's time to reconsider your priorities, and decide if this side hustle is actually right for you! Long story short, we are BACK! And we are STOKED! New episodes will be released every OTHER Wednesday morning, so be sure to keep an eye out on iTunes or your chosen podcast subscription service! Welcome everyone to episode 211 of the Everyone’s Agnostic podcast. I’m Cass Midgley. I'm going to die. A big thanks to each and every one of our Patreon and Paypal supporters.  Today my guest is Peter Montoya. This is the 3rd time I've had Peter on the show. You can get his full story back on episode 130. He was also featured briefly in episode 163, on Dr. Marlene Winell's second appearance. Peter is all about living a fulfilled life and he sees community as an integral part of achieving that goal. For us ex-Christians, church used to be the main place we connected with a community. Some of us had bad experiences but it's likely that even those were the exception and not the rule. I know I used to look forward to seeing everyone and feeling that energy of people gathering every Sunday morning. But what now? How do we find community after faith is gone? Peter has some tips on how to do just that. We interview people you don’t know, about a subject no one wants to talk about. We hope to encourage people in the process of deconstructing their faith and help curb the loneliness that accompanies it. We think the world is a better place when more people live by sight, not by faith. Please subscribe to our podcast, and leave a review wherever you listen to podcasts. Also, we offer these podcasts freely. And your support truly makes a difference. You can support us monetarily in two easy ways: you can pledge a monthly donation through Patreon. that’s www.patreon.com/eapodcast,  or leave a lump-sum donation through PayPal at our website, www.everyonesagnostic.com. We taped this conversation on June 25th, 2018. The intro music is by Dave Weckl called "Just Groove Me" Featuring "People" by Barbara Streisand.  The outro song: You've Got A Friend In Me (From "Toy Story"/ Soundtrack) by Lyle Lovett & Randy Newman. Thanks for listening, and be a yes-sayer to what is. Perhaps it's not about finding community but creating one. If we wait to be found or to find our people, we could possibly die waiting. Some of us have the means to CREATE a community. As you'll hear in this conversation with Peter Montoya, there are steps one can take to create a recurring meetup with friends. One way that you can calm yourself around this audacious and ominus undertaking is that even if you just meet once a month, at the end of a year you can look back and see 12 meetings that changed lives. It doesn't have to be a big deal or life changing each meeting. It's the 30,000 foot view that says, "we make the path by walking it." One foot in front of the other and before you know it, deep relationships are formed, and enriching exchanges are had. For those who find themselves in remote locations, there is the internet. Charles, a long-time friend and supporter of the show, started a virtual community that meets every other week on a platform called Zoom that functions like Skype where you can see and hear the other participants. We have listeners all over the English speaking world and many don't have community in their geographical proximity, so Facebook and groups like Charles' EA Virtual Small Group can help serve such people with a means to connect to others. It's SO important. . Dr. Mark Hyman said, "The power of community to create health is far greater than any physician, clinic or hospital." If you're interested in being a part of the communities that have formed around this podcast, you can message me on Facebook or email me at midgley.cass@gmail.com and I'll help you get connected to virtual communities and support groups specifically designed to encourage people who no longer believe in the supernatural, are opening their eyes and ears and saying yes to reality and they're feeling the void of lost community. Relationships are a two way street. They will be dynamic in direct relation to how honest both parties are. If you've done the deep, hard work of accepting yourself, you bring that unhidden person to the gathering. If you encounter someone who has also done the deep, hard work of accepting their self, you will be able to assess the real potential of that relationship. A natural byproduct of accepting one's self--flaws and all--is a greater capacity to accept others--flaws and all. The joy and depth of a community is directly correlated to how honest the participants have been able to get. A Christian author, Catholic actually, who I respected when I was a Christian and still do, is Henri Nouwen. He said this, "Solitude is very different from just a 'time-out' from our busy lives. Solitude is the very ground from which community grows. Whenever we pray alone, study, read, write, or simply spend quiet time away from the places where we interact with each other directly, we are potentially opened for a deeper intimacy with each other." We're learning that this tension that we all feel between introvert and extrovert is not black and white. We're all both. We get energy from time alone and from time with others. As the steward of your own happiness and health, only you know what you need and your needs are unique to you. We're learning that the "one size fits all" mentality of conformity religions is not honest nor real. Thus, we are free to navigate our relationships and free to let others navigate theirs. Some of us are uncomfortable with the thought of Sunday Assembly or Oasis or any kind of forced intimacy, other's love being in these gatherings, engaging with others, meeting new people. However, most of us are both--sometimes we do, sometimes we don't. And that's my point. As in most things I say, I almost always end up saying "you do you." The acceptance of what is, the acceptance ourselves, each other, the form the moment is taking, empower us to navigate this tumultuous, unpredictable world that we could be yanked from at any moment, give us the smile we need to calm down, to pick our battles and our fucks better, to get excited about the right things, to give ourselves permission to take in this magical moment, with these beautiful disgusting people, eating this food that we'll only shit out later, drinking these drinks that we may regret in the morning, acknowledging the unavoidable awkwardness that occurs when any two people try to walk up to each other and make something happen. This is the dance. This is our lives. May we find each other, accept each other and benefit somehow from the shared experience that is the human condition. http://thriveunion.org/

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens... ... YOU GET A CAR! YOU GET A CAR! EVERYBODY GETS A CAR!!!!! OK... maybe our Favorite Things episode isn't going to be AS exciting as the amazing musical, Sound of Music OR Oprah giving her whole audience cars. But we are pretty excited about it nonetheless! One of the things we tend to miss about having an office job is the interpersonal relationships you build in a setting like that. You're constantly chatting with co-workers (if you're lucky) about a myriad of topics, including things you're obsessed with at the moment! We decided to bring a bit of that atmosphere to the show this week, and we're talking about our Favorite Things!! Most of them are "semi" photography related, but we weren't too worried about that. We just wanted to dish about some stuff we've been loving lately!! Here's a highlight of our favorite things... tune in to hear more! Rothy's: Julie is OBSESSED with her new shoes. These shoes are made from recycled water bottles (yay!) and are SUPER cute and comfortable! The best part is, they're great for weddings & shoots because they're machine washable!! You don't want to be worried that your shoes are stinking up the hotel room when you're taking "getting ready" photos, so this is a huge plus! Go check them out, and if you buy with this link, you'll get a discount! (And Julie will get a hookup, so it's a win/win situation!) https://go.referralcandy.com/share/D8ZDD28 Podcasts: This is a GIVEN, but of course we are all obsessed with Podcasts! Podcasts help time pass faster, especially while driving or working, and they are educational AND entertaining! We plan on doing a whole episode on our favorite podcasts in the future, so definitely stay tuned for that! Playstation Vue: Cable is SO 2014. Kate & her husband have been cable free for quite awhile now, but have always hated not having live TV. Playstation Vue is a new app (you don't need a Playstation for it!) that you can stream to your TV via your phone, or Roku (or similar) device and you actually get live TV along with DVR, on demand, and more! It's great for mindlessly listening & "watching" Fixer Upper while editing shoots! Bandolier: This thing is rad. It's like a purse, meets a phone case, meets a wallet. It's a luxury product (not super cheap) but it replaces your phone case & purse! It's SO hard to describe so you have to go check it out yourself, but it's great for photoshoots because you can keep your essentials on your body, it hides your phone (so it doesn't look unprofessional), and it stays around your neck so it's nice & safe. Again, Julie's hooking it up with a referral code, so go check it out for yourself! https://go.referralcandy.com/share/C4X68PH Etsy: A lot of people think Etsy is just for handmade items, but there are a lot of awesome digital templates & business-related things on Etsy! It's a go-to place to find a designer, templates, contracts, client gifts, etc! Greetabl: Speaking of client gifts, Greetabl is an AMAZING gifting service! It's not just a packaged gift, it's totally personalized with pictures, text, etc. They have such cute stuff on their site, everything from cute office supplies to champagne gummy bears, and more. It's SO easy to order & send straight to your clients. We're obsessed with this company right now! Instagram Live: Ashley has been using Instagram Live for awhile now, and she's loving it! IG Live will send out a notification to your followers, so it's a bit more celebrated than just doing a story or regular Instagram post. Lipsense: If you haven't heard of Lipsense yet, you must not be on social media. This is an awesome product that's basically long lasting lip color. It's a lip stain plus a gloss, and they have a bajillion options for both. The color does not transfer at all, even immediately upon application. Can I help you? M: Um, yes, I suppose so. I'm looking for a new mobile phone. W: OK. Well, as you can see, we have a huge range. But first, I need to ask: are you thinking of having a contract or just *pay-as-you-go? M: Uh… does it matter? W: If you have a contract then you can get a lot of these phones free with it, but with pay-as-you-go there's a different set of phones. M: Oh… what would I have to do for a contract? W: It's easy enough – I can organise it right here in 20 minutes or so. All the contracts are for 12 months at first, and then after that you can cancel it any time you want. M: Well… actually, I don't think I would use it enough for a contract. W: The smallest contract we offer is 100 texts and 100 minutes a month for £10. M: No, I think I'll go with just paying for what I use. W: Alright. Well, here is the range of phones we offer for pay-as-you-go. There are the smart phones here, the BlackBerry, and the iPhones― M: Um, I just want something simple. All I want to do is call people and text people. W: Well, on this side we have the more traditional-style ones. I can recommend this one especially – it's got Bluetooth, a 9-megapixel camera, a touch-screen, and loads of special features installed, and it comes in six different colours. M: I… no, I really don't need all the special features, I just want to be able to get in touch with my son. W: This one's also touch-screen enabled, and you can even do video conferences on it. M: I think those are a little expensive for me, honestly… W: This one is a little cheaper and still comes in five colours – and it flips out for a qwerty keyboard. M: No, I… Don't you have anything that just calls and texts?? (Written by Anna Hill) Skype: A Great Way to See the World Situation: Two people on Skype. The woman has just returned from abroad. W: ... Boy, this Skype is really great, hey?... Anyway, I got back from my trip and immediately became depressed. This place is so boring! And no one is even able to think a little about going to another country! M: Hmm, what's so depressing about our GREAT school? Also, why don't you just take off to a faraway land?like the kind you just returned from? W: Well, I've got tons of homework, so I need to stay home a lot, meaning I have no incentive to leave my room whatsoever! And when I do, it's no fun at all. Until I save up enough, I can't go anywhere else, because, well, travelling is not free, or even remotely cheap, you know. M: Oh, I see. What about quitting your job, staying in bed, and fancying nostalgic memories of your travels? You know, like that guy from Borges' short story, who could remember every single leaf of the tree he saw 20 years ago in all the details?! W: Ha ha, sounds like a plan! I can cut a hole in my door for food delivery, and spend the rest of my life in this apartment, dropping random objects from the window on the heads of the passing fine-looking citizens. That would be returning my debt to society. M: Nah, you should emerge from your hermitage in, say, 3 years, and shock the foundations of common sense with obtained wisdom! W: Guess I will be the one shocked to death at the local asylum! M: Nah, electricity is expensive these days. They'll just dope you up a bit and put you in a cell. W: Now THAT'S a positive outlook on life. Anyway, thanks for cheering me up! M: I'm always here for you. "Here" being on the opposite side of the screen, that is! W: Ha ha! Yes, let's not forget about that. Though I still find you far more real, warm and fluffy than most of my acquaintances in "the real world". M: Why, thank you! And see you again soon! (Written by Dmitry Mamchur) The Truth about Computers M: Hi, Tiffany. As a part of your tutoring program, today we're going to talk about computers. W: Like, Facebook? I have TONS of friends on Facebook! And just as many followers on Tumblr! And don't even get me STARTED on Twitter.. M: Err, no, Tiffany. Those kinds of social networks are a much more advanced topic, though you seem to know a lot about them already. Today we're going to talk about the most basic concept in computer science: how a computer represents information internally. W: Information? What kind of information? M: Any kind! What do you have on your computer? W: I don't know... Is my report about tropical diseases a piece of information? M: It surely is. Any more examples? W: Mm.. I guess the photos and videos I took with my fancy new camera are information as well? M: Precisely. But computer information appears as text, images or video only on the computer's monitor. Inside the computer, the information's stored as a sequence of ones and zeroes: in other words, in binary form. W: Binary form, riiight. How is my report a bunch of ones and zeroes? There ARE letters in there. M: Actually, no. Each letter or symbol, such as a smiley face, is just a numeric code. Let's say "A" is 23. And 23 in the binary numeral system is "one zero one one one." So, your report file, in the end, IS a bunch of ones and zeroes. W: But why can't computers just use letters? It seems MUCH simpler. M: Sure, much simpler for us, humans. Computers, however, don't understand letters. One or zero is about the only thing a computer can handle. To tell the truth, it's not even one or zero. It's an electrical signal. We call it "one" if it is a particular signal. Otherwise, it's "zero". Everything else is built on the top of this concept. W: Huh, I guess computers ARE much dumber than they seem! (Written by Dmitry Mamchur) Looking for the Right Guy (Part 1) Girl 1: Hey Lindsey, have you heard of this new app called Tinder? Girl 2: No, what is it? Girl 1: WHAAAAT?!?! It's SO popular right now. Basically, it's a dating application where you swipe left if you like their profile, and swipe right if you don't! Girl 2: Um, I'm not really a fan of these sort of things... Girl 1: I know, but it's kind of fun to anonymously look at profiles and judge them! Girl 2: That's insanely shallow. Girl 1: Come on. Just try it for a few minutes. Girl 2: You're SO persistent... (Makes a profile on the application) Girl 1: Hey, do you think this guy is cute? Girl 2: Um, no. Girl 1: Then put your finger on the screen and swipe right! Girl 2: Ugh... Girl 1: What about THIS guy? Girl 2: I'm not really attracted to guys who show off their muscles in a picture. (swipes and keeps swiping for a few seconds) Oh...THIS guy looks like a nice decent guy. It's a picture of him and his family, and his description says that he really likes hiking, playing with animals, and fishing. Girl 1: SWIPE LEFT THEN!!!! Go on! (Written by Lauren Johnson)

Episode 41: Online Reviews with Hillary Boyd from The Knot

There's no denying that online reviews are SUPER important these days. Most people check online reviews before doing just about anything, so it makes sense that people REALLY check online reviews before booking something as important as a wedding vendor! One of the BEST places to check wedding vendor reviews online is The Knot! In fact, both Ashley and Kate used The Knot when planning their weddings many years ago, and it's still as popular as ever today! In fact, 80% of couples utilize The Knot when planning their wedding! For this reason, we are stoked to have Hillary Boyd from The Knot on PhotoSpark this week to chat with us about the importance of online reviews, how to make the best of a listing on The Knot, and more! Key Takeaways: Research Your Potential Client: Not only is The Knot a great spot for vendor reviews, but many brides & grooms make their wedding website on The Knot! This is great news for you as a photographer, because you can do some slick recon to figure out who they are and what they're passionate about before you even meet them! This will help you decide if they're your ideal client, and will also help you with your consultation with them. Do they like craft beer? Make your consultation meeting at a brewery! Asking Clients for Reviews: This is all about timing! You can't ask for a review in the normal 2 week post-event window because they likely haven't even seen the final product yet. Hillary suggests delivering the images (with a very personal email or thank you card) and include a link in that initial contact to give them a chance to leave you a review! You can also text them the link... a lot of couples use the mobile option for The Knot, so this might be an easier route for them to take! Remember, clients who use review websites like The Knot, are way more likely to leave you a review because they're comfortable with using review sites & want to return the favor to other brides & grooms! Ask Clients for Feedback First: When you deliver your images, ask your clients if they're happy and if they have any feedback for you. That way, if they're unhappy for any reason, you have a chance to remedy the situation before they leave a negative review. Communication is SO important & a lot of times negative reviews are left only because they are frustrated & haven't felt like their issues have been taken care of. By asking clients for feedback, you're ensuring everyone is happy before they leave you an online review! Magic Number 11: Hillary mentions that 11 is the magic number of reviews! When you have 11+ reviews, potential clients tend to view your business as more legit than someone who has less than that. If your review page is brand new, consider contacting old clients & asking them to leave a review on the new site. And there's an easy way to do this! Let's say someone left you a Yelp review but now you're looking for reviews on The Knot. Consider copying their review and pasting it in an email to them. Tell them "Hey! I LOVED your review of me on Yelp. I'm trying to establish solid reviews on The Knot... I've copied your review here to make this as easy as possible... any chance you'd be able to create an account on The Knot and paste your review for me there?" This makes it easy & foolproof & will help you get to your 11 reviews! Submit, submit, submit: Hillary suggests submitting your work as much as possible! Most couples LOVE to be featured & this is a great way to show off your talent & work to new, potential clients, as well as connect with vendors from that wedding (it will tag all of them). We suggest submitting via Two Bright Lights (have you heard that episode?! It's SO informative & shows how easy the process is!). This week, we stumbled upon an article that really blew our minds so we figured we would share it with you guys!! The article is titled 13 Habits of self-made millionaires, from a man who spent 5 years studying rich people & was written by Kathleen Elkins. In the article, she discusses 13 habits that Thomas C. Corley noted in his book Change Your Habits, Change Your Life. Thomas spent 5 years studying 177 self-made millionaires, and found some similarities in their daily habits! In this episode, we'll share some of these habits with you guys & discuss whether or not we're already doing these habits & chatting about how we can start! Our 5 Favorite Habits (you'll have to listen to hear more!): They read consistently: Corley discovered that self-made millionaires tended to read often. Their books of choice tended to be biographies of other highly successful entrepreneurs, self help books, and history books. In our episode, Ashley & Julie chat about their favorite self-help books they've been reading recently & Kate admits she definitely needs to read more of these!! They hang out with other successful people: Corley suggests hanging out with people who are optimistic & enthusiastic. We agree!! We love our Women In Photography Facebook group because it's full of optimistic and successful people!  It's amazing to surround ourselves with people who inspire us & have those role models who are successful photographers to help encourage and support us! They have multiple sources of income: This is one of our favorites because we all admit that this is something we dream of & strive for, but something we could definitely improve in! We're even hoping to do a future episode on possible additional sources of income for photographers! They don't follow the herd: We love this one because as artists we can be extremely self-critical... judging our worth and our work based on what else is already out there. It's SO important for us to remember that clients are looking for something different from photographer to photographer. So we love that we have all developed our own unique brand & style, which we know will help our clients be confident in their decision to book us!! They help others succeed: This is our ultimate goal for PhotoSpark so we have to pick this one as a favorite!! We love that highly successful entrepreneurs tend to help others succeed & we started PhotoSpark because of a desire to chat with each other about photography-related stuff, but we also really love that we could totally be helping other photographers succeed just by chatting & hanging out! We aim to talk about the business side of photography because we felt like there was a void in this topic in the podcast world & we wanted to be able to help other people succeed in their businesses! Tune in to hear 8 more habits of successful people!! Also, feel free to chime in on the conversation on our Facebook page... let us know what habits YOU do on a daily basis that contribute to your success!!

But I think Japanese use too much water compared to other countries, especially Bangladesh. W: Yeah, I guess so. Just the other day I saw a program about water shortages. It said Japanese use the most water per person in the world. But I'm wondering: does that really hurt other countries? I doubt it. M: What do you mean? You think it's not a problem at all? And you're importing a large number of crops, like corn, wheat, and so on. Those crops need water to grow. W: Hmmm. Yeah, maybe we do have to be careful, because a lot of countries do have serious water problems. M: Don't worry, Kanako. I just wanted you to understand the water problem that we're facing. W: Yeah. Warning! Excessive beats per minute on this ride. Extreme dancing, movement, and increased heart rate may occur. If you are pregnant, hard of hearing, have high blood pressure or a heart condition then you are advised not to press play. It's been a while since the energy level has been this high on one of my podcasts. At about 30 minutes in it reaches 140 BPM (beats per minute). Usually it's between 128-130. It's SO good. Are you a lunatic superstar? Find out. Enjoy! Track List (55:15): Shine Like A Superstar (7th Heaven Club Mix) - DJ Elle: I remember listening to the original a few months back and thinking it was trash. But 80's band 7th Heaven, now turned producer/remixer have pumped out a fun house vocal. Lunatic (Club Mix) - The Disco Boys: German DJ/producers, The Disco Boys, create a future disco tune by sampling Gazebo’s 1986 tune “Lunatic”. The original was a top ten hit in Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland. View the original music video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwrxK6ogxhc Bodies (Cahill Refix) - Robbie Williams: The fun continues with always reliable Cahill with Robbie's #2 UK hit. "All we’ve ever wanted, Is to look good naked, Hope that someone can take it, God save me rejection, From my reflection, I want perfection" Counting Down The Days (Original Extended Vocal) - Sunfreakz feat. Andrea Britton: One of my fave tunes from 2007 that just needed to be brushed off. "Been around, now I found, I was walking on the wrong track yeah, Took my time, I was fine, I was looking for you, Lost my way, for the day, got my ticket, now I'm right back, Here to stay, it's okay, now I'm walking with you" Knock You Out (Original Mix) - Tiesto feat. Emily Haines: Emily is the lead vocalist from the indie rock band Metric. Check out the fab 3M remix of Metric's Gimme Sympathy on my previous podcast "Happiness Happening". Knock You Out is from Tiesto's new album Kaleidoscope. "Somebody to rough you up, Somebody to make it tough, Somebody to bait you, Somebody to love, But wait…" Home (Paul Van Dyk Club Mix) - Paul Van Dyk Feat. Johnny Mcdaid: Johnny is the former singer of the British cult band VEGA4. Home seems to meld the lyrical rock with the electronic. Good stuff. Paul Van Dyk remarked at an August Central Park performance that the song was about New York City. Hmmm. "They fashion streets out of the rock, Struck up statues to their gods, amen" Just Say Yes (Thin White Duke Mix) - Snow Patrol: Rock band Snow Patrol on my podcast? Stuart Price aka the Thin White Duke (Madonna/Confessions) takes the band onto the dance floor. Just say yes! Papillon (Tiesto Remix) - Editors: Wow! This song grows on you. It may become one of my faves of the year. Tiesto turned it out and reaffirmed why I loved him years ago. "Darling, just don't put down your guns yet. if there really was a God here, He'd have raised a hand by now. It kicks like a sleep twitch!" Give Me Love (Original Mix) - Coburn: My classic tune of this episode. This song never seems to get old. Lyrically it always reminds me of an old Georgio Moroder song. Bad Romance (Grum Mix) (Kerry John Poynter's Extended Revenge Edit)  - Lady GaGa: Hot off the success of Paparazzi, Lady "sounds like baby food" Gaga kicks out a batch of new tunes. Skip the original and the formulaic sounding Bimbo Jones mix. Grum serves up a tasty 80's fusion sound. Love!
