Strauss & Howe's "The Fourth Turning prophecy" (published in 1997) envisions a period of profound transformation for America, marked by a climactic crisis that reshapes society. Imagine a national—and likely global—eruption of events, spilling into channels of distress carved out during the preceding era of unraveling. These channels, widened by a triggering catalyst, guide the initial flow of upheaval, but predicting the exact trajectory is as uncertain as pinpointing the fault line of an earthquake. The molten core of this climax could bring economic chaos with financial collapse and rampant poverty, social unrest fueled by divisions and armed factions, political turmoil with institutional breakdown and authoritarian shifts, and military conflicts involving catastrophic weapons. This prophecy challenges us to consider not just the inevitability of change but also the forces shaping the future of civilization. Jim Quinn, presents four possible outcomes, each shaped by a crisis of immense magnitude. It could signify the end of humanity, an apocalyptic event triggered by a catastrophic blend of social collapse, malevolence, advanced technology, and sheer bad luck. Alternatively, it might mark the end of modernity, with Western civilization's centuries-long rhythm abruptly halting, potentially due to global conflict and societal collapse. A third scenario could see the dissolution of America itself, as the nation faces an existential crisis akin to those during the Revolution, Civil War, or World War II. Yet, there is a hopeful possibility: the Fourth Turning could simply close the current era, leading to a rebirth of America and a new societal cycle, transformed but enduring. Website Link:

It's astonishing how many people can see with their own eyes the open corruption of those in positions of authority, yet they still look for a reason to believe. Paul Rosenberg says, the spell is breaking. The surest way to maintain a sense of hope amidst the growing insanity is to remember that all the conflict around us is part of a larger spiritual battle. Adam De Gree reports that Gen Z is more religious than we might think. And that is cause for optimism. With all the craziness going on, it's easy to lose sight of the positive developments. Paul Rosenberg reminds us that the times they are a-changing for the better, in many ways. Trying to make sense of last weekend's assassination attempt on Donald Trump isn't easy. Walker Larson explains why this event was a wake up call for America. Is there a way to find unity again in such a sharply divided political environment? Kurt Mahlburg has some solid suggestions to put us on just such a path. With every passing minute, more information surfaces which shows the depths of wickedness among the power-seekers and opportunists of the world. Karen Kwiatkowski says the deep state is nervous. And it should be. Article of the Day: When the events of this past weekend went down, one of my first thoughts was to wonder what Jim Quinn might have to say about them. A tremendous article from Jim Quinn at The Burning Platform inspired this episode as a way to look back and take inventory of what we lost during this “Great Reset”, an event that is admittedly not finished by a long shot. What was lost, what was gained, how did society change, what lies were told to convince people to act against their own best interests, and who is responsible? What happens when a large segment of the population awakens to the reality that they were lied to and coerced into injecting themselves with an untested magic potion disguised as a medical experiment to combat a problem that already had a 99.98% chance of solving itself? The goal of this Great Reset is to demoralize the population so that they will give up and allow the Predator Class to remake society in a way that better suits them. Will humanity go back to sleep, or is this the time that the people finally rise up? It's good to be back in the saddle after a couple of weeks out of country. Did anything interesting happen while I was gone? The world around us changes so slowly that it's hard to notice. Lenore Skenazy shares her thoughts on what '70s kids did that today's kids don't. It's eye-opening. The push for green energy seems well-intentioned. However, as Doug Casey explains, the so-called 'green economy' treats humans and markets as things to be eliminated. For most of us, social media is a distraction or a pleasant way to pass the time. In reality, it's something very dangerous. Paul Rosenberg explains how social media hijacks the subconcious mind. If we are going to weather the growing trend toward tyranny, it's going to require community and boundaries. The Rev. John F. Naugle has a great essay on the power of the word "no." Article of the Day: The never-ending parade of mendacity from the ruling class can make us feel as though things are hopeless. BETSY ALSO EXPANDS ON ALL OF THE LATEST IN PHILADELPHIA WITH DAWN... BETSY EXPANDS ON PROMPT BELOW... Writing in the New York Post, former Queens executive district attorney Jim Quinn argues that stats touting a reduction in New York City crime are misleading. Last week, the NYPD issued a press release touting the 4.1% reduction in crime in November 2023 compared to November 2022.But when you look at the numbers year to date, crime is down a statistically insignificant 0.77% this year compared to 2022, but it is a hefty 33.7% higher than it was in 2019, before bail reform and discovery reform trashed our criminal justice system... New York City felony index crimes went down in 17 of the 20 years between 2000 and 2019. Crime went down every year from 2014 through 2019. It was only after thousands of “non-violent” career criminals were released from city jails (pre-COVID) in early 2020 that crime began to rise. For perspective on this, turn to a 29-year law enforcement veteran who now trains officers around the world. Sgt. Betsy Brantner Smith (Ret.) is spokesperson for National Police Association, a non profit that supports law enforcement officers across the U.S. She began her career as a police dispatcher at age 17 and has held positions in patrol, investigations, narcotics, juvenile, hostage negotiation, crime prevention, K-9 and field training. She has been a law enforcement trainer for over 20 years.  Tune in 10 AM - 12 PM EST weekdays on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT; or on the Audacy app!

Paul Rosenberg has a real gift for cutting through the complexity and getting to the heart of what's at stake. His message for those who've discovered that they've been made superfluous is pure gold. Our elections have become popularity contests between individuals rather than a choice between principles. Cruz Marquis explains why the cult of the presidency must end. Here's a question each of us must ask ourselves, at some point: Is it worth fighting for? Jim Quinn leans on Tolkien for a few of the reasons why our answer should be a resounding, "Yes!" Why do so many comedians seem to carry legitimate pain with them? Michael Herman has an interesting take on the creative misfire that is a blessing and a curse to the people who make us laugh. (8:30) After 40 minor league teams were eliminated, four filed an action against MLB for violation of anti-trust law. Court ruled that until the Supreme Court or Congress overrules the antitrust exemption currently provided to MLB, then there is nothing the courts can do. Jim Quinn was on a previous episode discussing this case and he agreed this is the result that would occur in the lower courts. Quinn has his eyes set on SCOTUS to overturn the antitrust exemption. Welcome back to THE sports law podcast. Dan Lust is joined by Landis Barber (@LandisBarber) to bring you all the latest at the intersection of sports and the law. It appears that Dan Snyder is looking to sell the Commander. (2:40) Snyder has hired Bank of America Securities to explore potential transactions.  Snyder does own 100% of the team after he bought out the minority owners in 2021. The Commanders are currently valued at $5.6B. Is Jeff Bezos interested in buying the team? MLB's motion to dismiss was granted in the recent anti-trust lawsuit. Kyrie is in the news for posting on Twitter a link to a film that is anti-Semitic. (11:40) Kyrie has refused to apologize for posting the link.  Since the recording of this episode, the Nets have suspended Kyrie for his failure to disavow antisemitism. Incident occurred after the Michigan State and Michigan football game. (20:13) Michigan player ends up being attacked by a number of Michigan State players in the tunnel going to their locker rooms. There are investigations underway, and four Michigan State players have been suspended. NBA players have expressed their desire for the NBA owners to put it to a vote to remove Sarver as owner. However, Sarver took it upon himself to start the process of selling the team, which is estimated to be worth $1.8 billion. Aaron Judge is standing on the steps of history. (19:50) Judge is one homerun away from tying the American League single-season homerun total of 61 homeruns, which was set in 1961 by Roger Maris. We took to the case law textbooks of Baseball and the Law (@BaseballandLaw) on page 891 which is Popov v. Hayashi. This case was the aftermath of the MLB homerun single season record of 73 homeruns set by Barry Bonds in 2001. Popov initially caught the 73rd homerun ball and it was knocked out of his hands and Hayashi ultimately ended up with the ball. A California judge ruled that they each shared an undivided share in the possession of the ball and were to sell the ball and split the proceeds. As Judge approaches history, keep a keen eye out for who ends up with possession of number 62. Oakland Raiders relocation lawsuit has come to a halt. (36:48) California Judge rejects Oakland's appeal in the relocation lawsuit. The California court of appeals rejected the theory that the city of Oakland could be a third-party beneficiary to the NFL's relocation policy. Although this may seem like an end to city causes of actions under the relocation policy, the ruling would be a state-by-state decision. California has more stringent laws relating to third-party beneficiary contract laws. Friend of the show Jim Quinn, representing the City of Oakland, can now take the next step of appealing to the California Supreme Court. *** Have a topic you want to write about? If you haven't had the chance to deal with a bully, just wait a bit longer. Bullies are a fact of life but handling them doesn't have to put you in physical or moral jeopardy. Paul Rosenberg says dealing with violence is a fact of life but you don't have to become a bully to do it. The recent testy exchanges between Senator Rand Paul and Dr. Anthony Fauci have been worth keeping an eye on. This isn't just a personality clash, it's an epic struggle of a bureaucrat trying to duck accountability. Phillip W. Magness and James R. Harrington have some marvelous background regarding Fauci, emails and some alleged science. Every day we're seeing more evidence that the people who've been calling the shots on lockdowns and vaccine mandates have been terribly wrong. It's long past time for them to stand up and be truthful. Jeff M. Lewis has some simple, honest questions about Covid-19. The Fourth Turning historical cycle that is playing out before us is building to its climax. Jim Quinn has a lengthy and highly informative essay on our current bad moon rising. Better buckle up. Bumpy road ahead. Sometimes it seems like we have to choose between being misled by lies and propaganda or by misinformation and conspiracy theories. The Good Citizen has a great essay on Indiana Alex Jones and the Last Conspiracy Theory. A very worthwhile read. If someone suggests that we are living in revolutionary times, they're not wrong. The question is, what kind of revolution we're experiencing. Ron Paul says we need a revolution of ideas that don't rely on the force of government for their legitimacy. The prospect of a civil war is not something to be romanticized. William Sullivan accurately recounts what issue was really at the heart of what we call the Civil War and why it's relevant today. www.thebryanhydeshow.com --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/loving-liberty/support

Because it has proven so essential to consolidating and maintaining power over the masses, Quinn warns that this war on Covid will never end. After all, the things that have most improved our standards of living are the result of entrepreneurs who were willing to take risks. A lot of what Hollywood produces is intended to be a mindless escape and distraction from the real world. But once in a while, something worthwhile makes it though. Jon Miltimore says the Paw Patrol movie is surprisingly libertarian in it's storyline--especially for a kid's movie. With students returning to college campuses, there are plenty of convocation speeches being given to start their new school year. Alexander Riley has some very solid advice that he'd love to share with the incoming classes of students this year. He calls it the convocation address you will never hear delivered. Like it or not, you and I are living through some remarkable and likely historic times. None of us have aspired to be standing at this crossroads, yet here we are. J.B. Shurk has a powerful message for anyone who recognizes the significance of what we are facing. He also has some advice on how to tell what government fears the most. At the risk of sounding hypocritical, especially as someone who recently moved to Idaho, there's an attitude among many that "If it gets bad, I'll just move to Idaho." Jeff Thomas has some interesting historical perspective of the last major migration that was driven by economic hardship. He also warns that preparing for the coming economic crisis has to be done before the crisis hits. www.thebryanhydeshow.com --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/loving-liberty/support

2021 is quickly becoming the year of the censor. Thomas Luongo says this spells danger as well as opportunity for companies like Patreon who allow even controversial content creators to thrive without ideological filters. Pop culture's portrayal of capitalism is always slanted toward the greedy, exploitative perversion of the market that we see in crony capitalism. In reality, authentic free market capitalism has improved the world in measurable ways. Kimberly Josephson has compiled 5 reasons Americans (wrongly) see big business as the villain. Many people grasp for any reason to believe that what government is doing to them isn't really tyranny. James Bovard has a lockdown tyranny retrospective that provides ample evidence that what's being done to us isn't exactly a favor.  Does the truth still matter? It does to some of us. That's why when we see federal prosecutors walking back their statements and charges against some of the January 6th protestors. We've seen this kind of ridiculous overcharging of defendants before with the Bundy family's trial. It didn't end well for the government. THE TORNADO ENGINE+ by Jim Quinn, Bsc Fimeche This is the inside story of the man who was known as the White Tornado in Rolls Royce Bristol aero engines, for he outlines the work he and others carried out over 21 years during the early concept, development and in service stages of the Panavia MRCA-Tornado engines. He went on to Project Manage Europe's first production single crystal turbine blades, and then worked on Control Systems for several years, describing these works as the story proceeds. A whistle blower, he enjoyed Gilbert & Sullivan, Hang Gliding, and Motorsport, and he eventually left RR, to work with several charities, particularly Headway and Remap, where he describes his experience as an inventive carer of disabled people of all sorts. As a Humanist, he has experience of and interest in many things, and the book thus contains a variety of challenging thoughts, including the nature of biological evolution (Extra Terrestrials too). Jim Quinn has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and over the years has also risen through the ranks to become a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He worked for Bristol Siddeley aero engines and then Rolls Royce aero engines, but left in 1994. He then worked for a charity called Headway where he helped mentally disabled people to cope with life, including bus and train timetables and how to count the cash in their hand. He then worked for a charity called Remap which help physically disable people with one off equipment to help their independence, and has now worked voluntarily for them for 21 years to the present day. He is a Design Engineer and a Humanist and likes thinking about many things including evolution and nuclear weapons. https://www.amazon.com/Tornado-Engine-Jim-Quinn-Fimeche/dp/1648034918 https://www.westwoodbookspublishing.com/books/the-tornado-engine/ http://www.bluefunkbroadcasting.com/root/twia/westwoodbookspub.mp3

While the narrative managers are working to keep us focused on Covid-related illness, there's a larger tragedy looming just out of sight. Kerry McDonald shares the findings of Harvard researchers who say that nearly half of young adults are showing signs of depression amid the pandemic. Jim Quinn's take on the passing scene is always a worthwhile one. His latest breakdown of how our current Fourth Turning is unfolding is well worth your time. All the malarkey about this past election being the "most secure and fairest election in U.S. history" is establishment propaganda that's been cranked up to 11. No matter how you slice it, half the country considers the presidency illegitimate. That's going to lead to problems. Anyone who has principles worth defending is going to need some serious backbone in the days ahead. Rev. We learned a lot about the current state of politics in America during the presidential (ahem) debate last night. None of it was complimentary. The biggest "gotcha" moment was when the moderator asked the president to denounce white supremacists. Looks like the stage is being set for a racist vs. lockdown socialist decision come November. By the way, did you realize that the president has an internet "kill-switch"? Brad Polumbo explains where that authority is derived and how a handful of U.S. lawmakers are working to roll back this emergency power. Would it surprise you to learn that the people who urge us to "trust the science" are now claiming that science proves we're all racist? Okay, not all of us, just the ones who aren't a certain color. For all the talk of systematic racism, there's one thing that's becoming horrifically clear: the only thing systematic is the ongoing destruction of America. Professional sports is a multi-billion dollar business that pays players extremely well, but it wasn’t always that way. How did pro sports go from a quaint collection of athletes who needed side jobs in the off-season, to the lucrative industry for players it is today? Jim Quinn is the legendary sports lawyer who spearheaded free agency for every professional sports league, including the MLB, MLS, NFL, and NBA. Quinn’s new book, DON’T BE AFRAID TO WIN: How Free Agency Changed the Business of Pro Sports is a captivating look inside the tense meetings between owners, players, and league unions that explains free agency, and why it matters. With specific examples of how hard owners fought, Quinn shows the gritty steps it took to make deals that satisfied everyone. JAMES W. QUINN is one of the most accomplished trial, arbitration, and mediation lawyers in U.S. history. Mr. Quinn spent virtually his entire career at Weil, Gotshal, & Manges LLP, a premier international law firm based in NYC. At Weil, he served for more than two decades as both head of the firm’s 350-attorney Litigation Department and as a member of the Firm’s Management Committee. Mr. Quinn practiced in all areas of complex litigation and alternative dispute resolution, with particular emphasis on antitrust, securities, false advertising, sports entertainment, patent, and related complex intellectual property litigation. He also developed extensive experience serving as an arbitrator under, among others, ICC and AAA International rules. He is currently counsel to the national litigation boutique firm Berg and Androphy and a principal in JW Quinn ADR LLC, a mediation practice where he tries to settle, rather than start, disputes. Mr. Quinn received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and his L.L.B. from Fordham University School of Law, where he teaches a course about winning at trial. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/steve-richards/support

Jim Quinn has a blog called "The Burning Platform", and Michael Covel reads a blog post of his called "Trying To Stay Sane In An Insane World". It's tough to disagree with as Quinn hits the mark. This is a fantastic way to think about Covel's world, the trend following world, in the context of trading. In Covel's world, if Quinn is describing the world accurately, there is no better solution for the chaos than trend following. Quinn makes the case that the chaos isn't going to end anytime soon. Covel goes on to read a short excerpt from CBS MarketWatch that dovetails in nicely to the end of Quinn's piece. This piece discusses the blind optimism of many investors. Covel notes that if this is the landscape that we're facing, if this boom-bust cycle is here in perpetuity, then there's only one strategy that makes any sense. There's only one strategy that has any proof of success: trend following. Trend following is the strategy that takes advantage of societal insanity: whether it's the politicians and the bankers, or the people that blindly follow them. At the end of the day once you've accepted the wisdom of these two articles, you can't really get upset about it. That's the world, the hand dealt. So what can you do? You can pretend to know all and be a fundamental follower, but if you've got a rigged system, the fundamentals don't matter. Or you can accept our upside down world and take advantage of it with a trend following mindset and strategy. Free trend following DVD: trendfollowing.com/win.
