In this episode, Simon and Dan cover a wide mix of macro updates, Canadian corporate earnings, and AI-related investment themes. They start by discussing the latest Canadian inflation data, where headline CPI surprisingly slowed despite a volatile energy environment. The hosts also weigh the broader macroeconomic impact of surging bond yields—highlighting the climb in both U.S. and Canadian yields—and explain how these moves directly pressure household disposable income via upcoming fixed-rate mortgage renewals. The conversation then shifts to corporate earnings, starting with Constellation Software's strong quarter, record M&A spending, and whether AI poses a structural threat to the software sector. They also touch on Atkins Réalis (formerly SNC-Lavalin), reviewing its massive nuclear opportunities, unique Candu technology moat, and a new partnership with Nvidia to develop nuclear-powered AI factories. They wrap up by analyzing Canadian Tire's sluggish retail top-line growth, exploring a large sequential decline in Sport Chek store locations and elevated credit card delinquencies that signal a stretched consumer. Finally, the hosts highlight key industrial earnings from Applied Materials and Finning International, which are both capitalizing on the massive infrastructure and data center build-outs fueling the global AI boom. Tickers of stocks discussed: CSU.TO, ATRL.TO, WSP.TO, CTC-A.TO, DOL, AMAT, ASML, FTT, TIH Subscribe to Our New Youtube Channel! Physical AI is the application of artificial intelligence to machines that operate in the real world — industrial robots, cobots, autonomous vehicles, drones, and humanoid robots. Unlike AI software that lives only on a screen, physical AI directly performs labor: assembling products, moving materials, inspecting quality, and operating equipment. Dr. Melisa Buie is an operational excellence leader and co-author of Faceplant: FREE Yourself from Failure's Funk. She has a PhD in nuclear engineering from the University of Michigan, taught graduate engineering courses at San Jose State University, and has worked at semiconductor and photonics companies including Lam Research, Coherent, and Applied Materials. She is also the author of Problem Solving for New Engineers. Episode page with links, video, and more Melisa's favorite mistake is one she didn't recognize until ten years after the fact. After publishing her first book while juggling a full-time job, teaching, and raising her son as a single parent, she was exhausted -- so she did nothing to market or promote it. She told herself she had earned the rest. What she actually did, she now sees, was choose invisibility. The lesson wasn't that rest is bad. It was that she had mis-timed it, treating rest as the finish line instead of part of the cycle. In this conversation, Mark and Melisa get into why platitudes like "fail fast" and "fail forward" tend to fall flat, why pre-mortems can prevent faceplants that postmortems can't, and the four autopilot reactions Melisa calls the Conspirators -- the machine, the magician, the statue, and the satellite. They also explore how separating the facts of a failure from the story we tell ourselves about it is often the difference between getting stuck and getting free, what happens when organizations inadvertently create cultures where failure isn't safe, and how AI can be a thinking partner in problem solving rather than a replacement.

The Six Five with Patrick Moorhead and Daniel Newman

Patrick Moorhead and Daniel Newman break down a massive week in enterprise tech, from Google Cloud Next's full-stack AI push and Amazon's $100 billion Anthropic commitment, to Apple's leadership transition and Intel's long-awaited foundry validation courtesy of Elon Musk. The handpicked topics for this week are: Google Cloud Next 2026: Full-Stack AI and New TPUs — Google Cloud Next has cemented itself as the second-biggest AI event on the calendar, with Thomas Kurian declaring the proof-of-concept era over and enterprises now in full production mode with agents. Google unveiled two next-generation TPUs (the 8i for training and the 8t for high-throughput inference) and reinforced its full-stack differentiation from infrastructure through Gemini Enterprise Workspace. (The Decode) Google's Agentic Security and MCP Push — Google made a significant move into agentic security, combining Wiz and Mandiant into what Pat calls a sleeper announcement of the show. Google also committed to placing MCP servers across all of its data surfaces, meaning even non-Google platforms can tap into Google data without full lock-in. (The Decode) Google Distributed Cloud and On-Prem Agentic Orchestration — Google took the biggest first step Patrick has seen toward a true agentic orchestrator that spans on-prem enterprise and public cloud through progress on Google Distributed Cloud. No other company has yet attempted cross-environment agent coordination at this level. (The Decode) Amazon's $100 Billion Anthropic Commitment — Amazon formalized a commitment of up to $100 billion into Anthropic, including five gigawatts of Trainium capacity, making it the largest non-NVIDIA silicon commitment in history. Anthropic's valuation crossed $1 trillion just weeks after a $350 billion raise, a pace that has left even veteran analysts searching for new language. (The Decode) Adobe Summit 2026: Enterprise Agents and Jensen's Endorsement — Jensen Huang took the stage at Adobe Summit to deepen the NVIDIA-Adobe partnership, calling agentic workflows the new front end for SaaS rather than a replacement for it. Adobe reported $250 million in Firefly ARR and 45% quarter-over-quarter growth in agentic tool usage, yet the stock continued to disappoint investors expecting hypergrowth multiples. (The Decode) Apple's New CEO: John Ternus and Tim Cook's Legacy — Apple named John Ternus as its fourth CEO, closing the book on Tim Cook's 15-year tenure marked by custom silicon success, services expansion, and operational excellence, alongside misses in Vision Pro, the abandoned car project, and Siri's failure to become the AI front end it should have been. Ternus is a continuity hardware candidate, and the most consequential decision may prove to be keeping Johny Srouji over all of hardware. (The Decode) Intel Foundry: Elon Musk, TerraFab, and 14A Validation — One day before Intel's earnings print, Elon Musk publicly confirmed TeraFab will use Intel's 14A process, delivering the first verifiable public wafer commitment on that node. Intel then reported a 23% stock surge, 22% data center growth, and EPS of $0.29 against a $0.01 street consensus. (The Decode) The Flip: TSMC vs. Semiconductor Equipment Makers — Pat and Dan take hard opposing stances on who holds more power in the AI supply chain: TSMC with its control of over 90% of advanced AI silicon and irreplaceable process expertise, or the equipment oligopoly of ASML, Applied Materials, LAM, and KLA without whom no leading-edge fab can operate. The real answer, they conclude, is deep interdependence, though TSMC's combination of talent and leading-edge control gives it outsized leverage today. (The Flip) Intel — Intel's earnings were a blowout across the board, with data center up 22%, EPS of $0.29 versus a $0.01 estimate, and guide raised, driven by CPU price increases, customer pull-ins, and packaging volume growth. Hosts discuss whether the stock at current levels is pricing in foundry revenue that has barely begun to materialize on the tape. (Bulls and Bears) GE Vernova and Vertiv — GE Vernova posted a beat on revenue and EPS with orders up 71% organically and a $163 billion backlog, while Vertiv reported sales up 30% and raised forward guidance to $14 billion. Both companies reflect the acute power infrastructure demand tied to data center buildout, with Patrick noting their growth was likely already baked into share prices heading into the print. (Bulls and Bears) ServiceNow — ServiceNow beat across the board with a Rule of 57 growth result and AI run rate up to $1.5 billion, 50% above its prior target, though margin headwinds from three acquisitions and on-prem impacts from the Middle East conflict weighed on sentiment. Daniel argues the market has not yet accepted that workflow automation at enterprise scale will not be replaced by vibe-coded alternatives. (Bulls and Bears) IBM — IBM posted a triple beat with Red Hat up 13%, software up 11%, and Z mainframe up 48%, the latter driven in part by AI-assisted COBOL modernization tools making the platform newly relevant. The stock slid after hours despite the results, continuing a pattern Patrick describes simply as silly season for enterprise infrastructure names. Lam Research just reported its best quarter ever — and then guided the next quarter to $6.6 billion in revenue. Wall Street was expecting $6.1 billion. In this episode, Nick and Kasey break down everything that matters from Lam Research's Q3 fiscal year 2026 earnings: the headline numbers, the mix shift toward memory, the advanced packaging growth story, what management's $796 million share buyback at all-time highs is actually communicating, and why Lam has quietly become CSI's largest semiconductor equipment holding — overtaking Applied Materials, where their conviction started over a decade ago. There is also the acceleration of the $40 billion NAND conversion investment timeline, now expected to complete before the end of 2027 — a significant pull-forward that increases near-term equipment demand for exactly the etch and deposition tools that Lam dominates. What we cover:— Q3 FY2026 results: $5.84B revenue, +24% year over year, EPS beat, gross margin approaching 50%— Q4 guidance: $6.6B vs. $6.1B analyst consensus — what the gap means for the cycle— Memory mix rising to 39% of systems revenue and why it has further to run in 2026 and 2027— Advanced packaging revenues targeted to grow over 50% in calendar year 2026— Customer support segment hits a record $2B — the recurring revenue cushion for the next downturn— The $796M share buyback at all-time highs — management's unambiguous signal— The $40B NAND conversion acceleration and what it means for Lam's revenue runway— Wafer fab equipment spending raised to $140B annually — the industry-wide read-through— Why Lam has become CSI's largest fab equipment holdingSponsored by fiscal.ai — the platform powering CSI's KPI charts and financial data. Host: Annik Sobing Guest: Valentin Povarchuk, Senior Counsel, Acrevis Law Group Published: March 2026 Length: ~35 minutes Presented by: Global Training Center Lessons from Applied Materials: Export Controls, Entity List Risks, and Semiconductor Enforcement Annik Sobing welcomes Valentin Povarchuk, trade compliance expert with 20+ years across big law, in-house, and boutique firms, for a deep dive into export controls and sanctions—his thought leadership sweet spot. They unpack the Applied Materials $252M settlement for ion implanter sales to SMIC (despite BIS warnings and Entity List designation), Pterodyne Flare's $1M mitigated penalty (via voluntary disclosure), and how companies navigate entity list risks in semiconductors amid U.S.–China tensions. Valentin teases an April 7 free GTC webinar on due diligence. What You'll Learn in This Episode Valentin's background 20+ years advising on customs, AD/CVD, export controls, sanctions; now at Acrevis Law Group helping companies (esp. tech/startups) build compliance programs. Expert in entity list/entity alerts, corporate risk management—not just tariffs/customs. Semiconductor export controls 101 Focus on equipment/software for advanced chips (AI training), not just chips themselves; bipartisan consensus on China as tech adversary (Russia/Belarus secondary). Biden's AI Diffusion Rule (global licensing limits) revoked by Trump; new approach more “transactional” (trade for access). Uncertainty reigns—no clear replacement yet. Applied Materials case breakdown ($252M penalty) BIS sent is-informed letter warning off SMIC; later Entity List addition. Applied continued via South Korean plant (substantial transformation: assembly/testing to claim “Korean origin” tariffs now; semicon/tech under microscope—review Entity List diligence today. Is-informed = hard stop; don't “get creative” without weighing enforcement (spirit > letter). Voluntary disclosure works—self-report transparently for leniency. Three Chinese manufacturers ranked among world's top 20 by sales for 1st time三家企业首度跻身全球销售额前二十In a milestone for China's semiconductor industry, three Chinese equipment manufacturers have ranked among the world's top 20 by sales for the first time in 2025, according to data from Japanese research firm Global Net. This marks an increase from just one company in the pre-stricter United States-government-restriction era of 2022, underscoring China's accelerated progress in bolstering the domestic supply chain. The progress is an outcome of Chinese companies' hard work and big investment in beefing up technological prowess, but a gap still exists in core equipment such as lithography machines, and more efforts are needed to achieve breakthroughs, experts said. The sales ranking reveals a climb for Naura Technology Group, which jumped from eighth place in 2022 to fifth in 2025. It now only trails global giants ASML, Applied Materials, Lam Research and Tokyo Electron. Founded in 2001, Naura has not yet disclosed its annual revenue for 2025, and Global Net based the ranking partially on estimated data. Financial services provider Suntime compiled forecasts from multiple securities companies to estimate Naura's revenue to stand between 46.8 and 52 billion yuan ($6.74 billion-$7.49 billion) in 2025. New to the list at 13th place is Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment Inc China, or AMEC, whose etching equipment comes close to the cutting edge. In chipmaking, etching is the key process of selectively removing unwanted material layers from a silicon wafer to engrave precise 3D patterns, circuits and transistor structures. Shanghai Micro Electronics Equipment, which specializes in lithography machines that "print" circuit patterns onto silicon wafers, secured the 20th position. While acknowledging generational gaps with market leader ASML, the Shanghai-based company's presence highlights China's domestic capability in this most critical and challenging segment. Expanding the list to the top 30 would include two more Chinese firms — ACM Research and Hwatsing Technology. This collective ascent is widely viewed as a direct response to US-led export controls on advanced semiconductor technologies, which catalyzed China's drive for greater self-sufficiency in chipmaking tools. Roger Sheng, vice-president of research at US market research company Gartner, said: "It's fair to say that Chinese companies' technological gap with international industry leaders is continuously narrowing. This progress has provided strong support for domestic chip manufacturers in their technological upgrades and production expansion efforts, even amid restrictions on access to US technology and equipment." The manufacturing of advanced chips involves over 1,000 process steps, each requiring specialized equipment. Chinese suppliers can now cover equipment for almost every stage, including deposition, etching and cleaning. This burgeoning ecosystem includes a wave of emerging startups, experts said. Yin Zhiyao, chairman and general manager of AMEC, said at a meeting in May 2025 that the company's product portfolios include 30 percent of all the integrated circuit equipment categories, and it aims to collaborate with partners to offer 60 percent of all high-end IC equipment categories over the next five to 10 years. Yin said that AMEC would soon complete the development of more than 20 types of thin-film equipment that are subject to international export restrictions to China, and the company aims to finish the development of nearly 40 thin film equipment by 2029. Thin film equipment in chipmaking refers to specialized machinery used to deposit atomic-level layers of conductive, insulating or semiconducting materials onto silicon wafers. China's massive domestic market, now the world's largest for chipmaking equipment, also provides a powerful launchpad. The global semiconductor industry association SEMI, which has more than 3,000 member companies, estimated that worldwide sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment would reach $133 billion in 2025, surpassing the previous record of $104.3 billion in 2024 and setting an all-time high. lithography machines /lɪˈθɒɡrəfi məˈʃiːnz/光刻机etching equipment /ˈetʃɪŋ ɪˈkwɪpmənt/刻蚀设备cutting edge /ˈkʌtɪŋ edʒ/尖端/前沿silicon wafer /ˈsɪlɪkən ˈweɪfə/硅晶圆integrated circuit /ˈɪntɪɡreɪtɪd ˈsɜːkɪt/集成电路thin-film equipment /θɪn fɪlm ɪˈkwɪpmənt/薄膜设备conductive /kənˈdʌktɪv/导电的insulating /ˈɪnsəleɪtɪŋ/绝缘的

For 36 years, Susan Winchester embodied success — Fortune 150 CHRO, award-winning leader, respected across industries. Yet for 30 of those years, that success was driven by a quiet, relentless belief: “I'm not enough.” Behind the accolades was constant anxiety, perfectionism, and people-pleasing. Until one 90-minute session cracked open a 17-year creative block — and began a five-and-a-half-year journey of deep inner transformation. In this conversation, Celinne and Susan explore what happens when high-achievers stop proving and start embodying who they truly are. You'll hear how Susan rebuilt her relationship with time, created a business rooted in joy, and learned that real leadership begins in the body, not the boardroom. If you've mastered the how-tos of success but still feel that quiet gap between who you are and who you're meant to be, this episode shows how to bridge it. ON THIS EPISODE: 00:01 Meet Susan Winchester, former Fortune 150 CHRO who works with Celinne on ongoing transformation 04:06 Discover the invisible toll of high achievement—anxiety, perfectionism, Chardonnay, and the belief "I'm not enough" 08:26 Witness the moment Susan broke through 17 years of resistance to publishing her vulnerable book 16:45 Learn about the "unconscious wounded career path" that fuels most corporate careers 28:30 Explore how addressing root beliefs dismantles decades of conditioning 42:18 Hear how Susan redesigned her entire post-corporate business model through deep alignment work 58:22 Understand what shifts when you stop forcing and start embodying your truth 01:15 Discover the freedom available when you address the patterns driving your success KEY IDEAS: ✨ Your success might be fueled by what's hurting you. Susan spent 30 of her 36-year career proving herself over and over, going home to review the day and beat herself up, using wine to take the edge off anxiety. High achievement and deep pain can coexist—and often do—until you commit to addressing the unconscious beliefs driving the performance. ✨ Real transformation takes consistent work over time. Susan has worked with Celinne for five and a half years, steadily dismantling patterns of perfectionism, people-pleasing, and anxiety that most leaders accept as "normal." This wasn't a quick fix—it was a commitment to showing up for herself until the patterns finally shifted. ✨ Addressing the root changes everything else. Through years of breath work, nervous system regulation, and energetic alignment, Susan learned to create limitless time, build a new relationship with money, and design a business she actually loves—not one she thinks she should have. ✨ Alignment creates results that force can't. When you stop performing and start embodying your truth, opportunities find you. But that embodiment comes from years of practice, not a single breakthrough moment. RESOURCES: Susan J. It has been one full year since we last reviewed the state of quantum computing and named Google our top pick in the sector. In this episode of Chip Stock Investor, we revisit that thesis to see how Google stacks up against pure play competitors like IonQ, Rigetti, D-Wave, and Quantum Computing Inc. While Google shares gained 60% over the last twelve months, we analyze if the dedicated quantum companies offered better returns or simply more volatility. We break down the latest updates on Google's Willow chip and the Quantum Echoes algorithm which mark a significant step toward real world utility. However, we also provide a reality check on the milestones required for commercial viability, specifically quantum error correction and the development of long lived logical qubits. Investors need to understand that despite hype, we remain in a research and development phase. The financial health of these companies is the primary focus of our analysis. We examine the revenue growth against the operating losses for IonQ, Rigetti, and D-Wave to determine how much runway they have left. We also discuss the cash positions of these firms, including IonQ's recent fundraising efforts that diluted shareholders but shored up their balance sheet. Additionally, we look ahead to upcoming SPAC mergers from Infleqtion and Xanadu in 2026.Finally, we review the semiconductor supply chain stocks that enable this technology. And those emotions can hold us back far more than the faceplant ever did.In this episode, I'm joined by Dr. Melisa Buie and Keeley Hurley—seasoned leaders in engineering, quality, and continuous improvement and the co-authors of Faceplant: FREE Yourself from Failure's Funk.Together, we explore what really happens beneath the surface when we stumble—and what it takes to get back up with clarity, confidence, and intention. Just like Daruma dolls represent the Japanese proverb “Fall down seven times, get up eight,” always righting themselves when knocked over, our path to success comes from acknowledging the stumbles, setbacks, and faceplants that are inherent along the way. What matters is that we don't get stuck—we get up and learn our way forward.YOU'LL LEARN:What's at risk when leaders fear failure, and how organizations unintentionally teach people to avoid mistakesThe FREE model (Focus, Reflect, Explore, Engage) as a practical way to get back up, learn forward, and regain clarity after a setbackEmotional hijacks to watch for—including the four instinctive patterns in the Conspirator Matrix: machine, magician, statue, and satelliteWhy embracing a growth mindset frees you to experiment, learn, and release perfection when things don't go as plannedContinuous improvement practices like reflection (post-mortems) and anticipation (pre-mortems) that strengthen learning before and after challenges occurIf a setback has ever left you uncertain about your next step in building a people-centered culture, this conversation offers a compassionate, practical path to learn your way forward when you fall down.ABOUT MY GUESTS:Dr. Melisa Buie is a laser physicist–turned–problem solver with a PhD in Nuclear Engineering/Plasma Physics and decades of leadership in manufacturing at Coherent, Lam Research, Applied Materials, and Advanced Energy.
