It requires a nonrefundable $15,000 processing fee plus a “contribution” or “gift” of at least $1 million per individual (or $2 million via an employer sponsor), with additional amounts for dependents. The funds go to entities like the U.S. Department of Commerce, and applicants must prove a lawful source of money, similar to the EB-5 investor visa.  The process involves filing a new Form I-140G, followed by consular processing abroad—no in-country adjustment of status is allowed—and approvals can happen in weeks, though backlogs from per-country caps (especially for Indian or Chinese nationals) may still cause delays for the actual green card. This program is separate from the H-1B visa system, which remains a temporary work visa for skilled professionals with issues like annual caps (85,000 visas, including 20,000 for advanced degree holders), a random lottery selection process, and criticisms of abuse (e.g., companies using it to displace U.S. workers or suppress wages via outsourcing firms). In fact, alongside the Gold Card, the Trump administration introduced a separate $100,000 one-time entry fee for H-1B applicants to deter such abuses and ensure only “the best and brightest” use it. https://twitter.com/TheRubberDuck79/status/1998791717752062345?s=20  Autopen. https://twitter.com/KobeissiLetter/status/1998407015756964343?s=20   to decide if it gets a floor vote. I hope they do the right thing. The Affordability Crisis Is Not a ‘Hoax.' It Is an Existential Threat to the American Dream.  Recently, President Trump has been quoted as referring to the affordability crisis as a “Democrat scam,” “hoax,” and “con job.” Although I think Trump was likely trying to remind Americans that policies enacted when Democrats had total control of the federal government under the first two years of the Biden administration accelerated and exacerbated the affordability problem, it is dangerous for the president to use that type of language. Already, mainstream media reprobates are twisting Trump's words, leading people to believe that he is saying the affordability crisis does not exist.  In proper context, Trump is not denying that middle- and lower-class Americans are struggling to make ends meet; rather, he is trying to assign blame and hang the affordability crisis on the Democrats. But even doing that is politically unwise.  The American people are not nearly as concerned with pointing fault as they are with seeking immediately viable solutions to the untenable reality they face. For many Americans, the affordability crisis is so severe that they think the American dream is no longer within reach. In fact, only 22 percent of young Americans think they will be better off than their parents. During her appearance on Wednesday on Fox News’ Outnumbered, Kirk was asked about the accusations and claims floated by podcasters like Candace Owens and others surrounding the assassination of the late co-founder of Turning Point USA, including speculation about where Charlie is buried. No rock will be unturned. I want justice for my husband, for myself, for my family more than anyone else out there. “My silence does not mean that I’m complacent,” Erika continued. “My silence does not mean that somehow Turning Point USA and all of the handpicked staff that loved my husband and that my husband loved them is somehow in on it. We are busy building.” Erika said she understands a lot of the noise is people trying to find answers to the horrific killing of her husband, and made it clear no “rock will be unturned. I want justice for my husband, for myself, for my family more than anyone else out there.” Kirk said she does have a breaking point, though, and it’s when influencers and others go after those she loves, like her family, her Turning Point USA family, and her Charlie Kirk Show family. “When you go after the people that I love, and you’re making hundreds and thousands of dollars every single episode, going after the people that I love because somehow they’re in on this… NO!” Erika said, as the host Harris Faulkner pointed out, she’d never seen Kirk like this before. “This is righteous anger because this is not okay, it’s not healthy,” she added. “This is a mind virus… but this is not okay. In all fairness, the Democrats have been doing Redistricting for years, and continue to do so. Unfortunately, Indiana Senate “Leader” Rod Bray enjoys being the only person in the United States of America who is against Republicans picking up extra seats, in Indiana's case, two of them. He is putting every ounce of his limited strength into asking his soon to be very vulnerable friends to vote with him. By doing so, he is putting the Majority in the House of Representatives, Washington, D.C., at risk and, at the same time, putting anybody in Indiana who votes against this Redistricting, likewise, at risk. The people of Indiana don't want the Party of Sleepy Joe Biden, Kamala, Ilhan Omar, or the rest to succeed in Washington. Bray doesn't care. He's either a bad guy, or a very stupid one! In any event, he and a couple of his friends will partner with the Radical Left Democrats. They found some Republican “SUCKERS,” and they couldn't be happier that they did! Guys like Failed Senate Candidate Mitch Daniels, who I opposed in his Race against Senator Jim Banks, and Cam Savage, whoever that is, are fighting against the Republican Party, all the way. Bray and his friends are the favorite Republicans of Hakeem Jeffries, Crazy Nancy Pelosi, and Cryin' Chuck Schumer. Anybody that votes against Redistricting, and the SUCCESS of the Republican Party in D.C., will be, I am sure, met with a MAGA Primary in the Spring. If Republicans will not do what is necessary to save our Country, they will eventually lose everything to the Democrats. Rod Bray and his friends won't be in Politics for long, and I will do everything within my power to make sure that they will not hurt the Republican Party, and our Country, again. One of my favorite States, Indiana, will be the only State in the Union to turn the Republican Party down! Master Messenger: Trump Goes Full MAGA at Pennsylvania Rally, Hands GOP the 2026 Talking Points The master messenger is at it again, this time handing the GOP the 2026 midterm talking points directly. During a rally Tuesday evening in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania, President Trump reminded both Republicans and Democrats of just how savvy a messenger he can be when energizing his base. He crushed former President Joe Biden and his administration for overseeing the runaway inflation we are still battling today. He discussed his efforts to bring higher wage jobs to American workers, not illegal aliens. He dismantled Obamacare, highlighting high costs and the trillions in taxpayer dollars given to insurance companies instead of the American people. President Trump went full MAGA. The  message was clear: Republicans, take this message and run with it during the 2026 midterm election cycle. President Trump tore apart Obamacare. He is tired of insurance companies lining their pockets with Obamacare subsidies, and stated once again that he wants that money sent directly to the American people. Imagine being able to use your own money to purchase health insurance instead of those dollars going straight to the insurance companies? For Republicans in 2026, this is a smart policy that could excite the base in an election cycle where President Trump is not on the ballot. Healthcare across America, in many cases, is unaffordable and frustrating. This is certainly an area where the GOP can make up ground with sound policy ideas. President Trump has essentially closed our southern border by the sheer power he wields through the executive branch. The administration has now moved to tackle illegal immigration within our borders, in regards to both deportations and American jobs taken by illegal aliens.  Since President Trump took office, 100 percent of all net job creation has gone to American citizens. That is an amazing statistic that every GOP House and Senate member should be touting on the campaign trail. Not for nothing, but President Trump is also clearly tired of immigrants coming to America who do not care to fully assimilate or share our values. President Trump also announced a permanent pause on third-world migration, “including from hellholes like Afghanistan, Haiti, Somalia, and many other countries.” This is a very smart and, frankly, important policy. During the recent off-year election cycle, many Americans learned for the first time how many third-world immigrants have infiltrated major American cities. This is a winning message and one the GOP should carry into 2026. Finally, the deadly drugs have got to stop flowing into this country. President Trump has taken lethal action that is sure to have every drug boat planning to bring drugs to America second-guessing that decision. For some Republicans who support Trump’s policy but have struggled to properly communicate the importance to their constituents, the president simplified the issue for the entire party. 1. European Union vs. Elon Musk and Free Speech The EU fined Elon Musk’s platform X (formerly Twitter) $140 million under the Digital Services Act (DSA) for failing to comply with transparency and moderation requirements. Ben and the Senator argue this is an attack on free speech, claiming the EU wants to impose censorship globally, including on American platforms. They highlight a letter from the EU in August 2024 urging Musk to censor content related to Donald Trump’s interview, framing it as an attempt to silence political discourse. The discussion emphasizes the contrast between U.S. First Amendment protections and Europe’s regulatory approach, warning of potential ripple effects on American free speech. There’s a call for the Trump administration to retaliate with sanctions against the EU, such as tariffs, to prevent foreign influence on U.S. speech norms. 2. Tucker Carlson’s Ties to Qatar Tucker Carlson’s visit to Qatar, where he interviewed the Prime Minister during the Doha Forum. Ben and Senator Cruz criticize Carlson for allegedly failing to ask tough questions about Qatar’s: Support for Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. Funding of anti-American and anti-Semitic propaganda, including protests on U.S. campuses. Lobbying efforts in Washington and influence campaigns targeting conservative figures. Restrictive policies on women’s rights. They express concern over Carlson reportedly buying property in Qatar, framing it as aligning with a regime hostile to U.S. interests. The commentary portrays Carlson as sympathetic to authoritarian leaders (similar to his interviews with Putin and Iran’s president), undermining American values and Trump’s foreign policy. On Friday, the European Commission (the executive arm of the European Union, or EU) announced that it is fining the social media company X $140 million for breaching transparency obligations under the Digital Services Act (DSA). The European Commission accused the U.S.-based social media company of deceptive use of its “blue checkmark” validation feature, lack of advertisement transparency, and failure to provide access to public data. ETS-2 trzeba wyrzucić do kosza. To kolejne opodatkowanie codziennego życia Polaków – paliwa, ogrzewania, wszystkiego. To zabawa finansistów. Handlują emisjami, a zwykli ludzie płacą więcej. Jeśli cena CO₂ wzrośnie do 100 euro, węgiel, gaz i paliwa podrożeją o połowę– wyjaśnił. My powinniśmy to zrobić. Według niego umowa faworyzuje największe gospodarki, a zwłaszcza niemiecki przemysł samochodowy i spożywczy. Rolnictwo to bezpieczeństwo żywnościowe – nie możemy go oddać– dodał.DSA - cenzura w sieci?Europoseł ostrzegł również przed krajowym wdrożeniem rozporządzenia Digital Services Act (DSA), które ma regulować treści publikowane w internecie.W polskiej wersji DSA rząd Donalda Tuska chce dać urzędnikom prawo do zdejmowania treści z sieci. To będzie powrót do urzędu cenzury.

It's been three years since Europe's Digital Services Act (DSA) came into effect, a sweeping set of rules meant to hold online platforms accountable for how they moderate content and protect users. One component of the law allows users to challenge online platform content moderation decisions through independent, certified bodies rather than judicial proceedings. Under Article 21 of the DSA, these “Out-of-Court Dispute Settlement“ bodies are intended to play a crucial role in resolving disputes over moderation decisions, whether it's about content takedowns, demonetization, account suspensions, or even decisions to leave flagged content online. One such out-of-court dispute settlement body is called Appeals Centre Europe. It was established last year as an independent entity with a grant from the Oversight Board Trust, which administers Oversight Board, the content moderation 'supreme court' created and funded by Meta. Appeals Centre Europe has released a new transparency report, and the numbers are striking: of the 1,500 disputes the Centre has ruled on, over three-quarters of the platforms' original decisions were overturned, either because they were incorrect, or because the platform didn't provide the content for review at all.Tech Policy Press associate editor Ramsha Jahangir spoke to two experts to unpack what the early wave of disputes tells us about how the system is working, and how platforms are applying their own rules:Thomas Hughes is the CEO of Appeals Center EuropePaddy Leerssen is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Amsterdam and part of the DSA Observatory, which monitors the implementation of the DSA.

Sie könnten bestimmen, was Amerikaner online sagen dürfen. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

They discuss the European Union's Disinformation Code of Practice and its transition, on July 1, from voluntary framework co-authored by Big Tech, to legally binding obligation under the Digital Services Act (DSA). This sounds like a niche bureaucratic change—but it's provided a news hook for the Trump Administration and its allies in far-right parties across Europe to allege once again that they are being suppressed by Big Tech, and that this transition portends the end of free speech on the internet.Does it? No. But what do the Code and the DSA actually do? It's worth understanding the nuances of these regulations and how they may impact transparency, accountability, and free expression. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Send us a textGoogle Testing Review Badge of Shame & More  in UK for Review Abuses:Google has rolled out a new review “badge of shame” and a new help document titled "Business Profile Restrictions for Policy Violations," introducing stricter actions for businesses engaging in deceptive review practices. Currently being tested in the UK, the policy includes a tiered system of penalties, such as preventing new reviews, unpublishing existing ones, and displaying a "badge of shame" for businesses caught with fraudulent reviews. This marks a shift in Google's approach, as they historically removed fake reviews without directly accusing businesses of wrongdoing. The penalties, though designed to improve review integrity, raise concerns about fairness, particularly for businesses that may be falsely flagged. Google has implemented an appeals process, offering business owners a chance to contest these restrictions. However, with previous experiences showing delays in review processes, some wonder how effective the system will be. This effort aligns with broader global regulatory pressures, such as the UK's push against fake reviews and potential influences from European legislation like the Digital Services Act (DSA).Google's Antitrust Travails: What's at Stake in the Latest Legal Battle?Google is currently facing its second antitrust trial, focusing on its ad-tech dominance. The trial, now in its second week, follows an earlier case where Google was found to be an illegal monopoly in search and text ads. This new case explores the workings of Google's ad exchange and network, with internal documents revealing questionable practices like taking premium cuts from advertisers. Central to the case is how the market is defined—if Google can argue for a broad market with competitors like Amazon and Facebook, it could escape further liability. However, if the market is viewed more narrowly, Google may face more significant consequences, including potential divestitures of its ad business.Beyond legal outcomes, this case, coupled with Google's aggressive internal strategies, is tarnishing the company's public image. Wall Street has already priced in potential legal losses, showing expectations of a major financial impact from a loss. Additionally, these trials may open the door to more lawsuits, including cases like Yelp's, which could bring greater visibility into Google's local search dominance.Digital Agencies Highlight Disconnect in Local Marketing Priorities:In a recent survey of nearly 300 digital agencies, a mismatch emerged between the services offered and what agencies perceive as client demand. Agencies commonly offer web design, social media marketing, and SEO, but client demand also includes email marketing and brand marketing—services not prioritized by many agencies. This gap raises questions about how well agencies understand their clients' evolving needs, particularly in small business marketing.Small businesses also show a surprising lack of attention to crucial tools like Google Business Profiles (GBP) and review management. Despite the importance of local search and reputation management, only a quarter of businesses actively manage their profiles, a disconnect made more mysterious given that business owners frequently use Google for their own research. The data suggests a broader education gap around how these digital tools influence visibility and growth, with many small businesses over-relying on social media while underestimating the value of search and reputation management. The Near Memo is a weekly conversation about Search, Social, and Commerce: What happened, why it matters, aSubscribe to our 3x per week newsletter at https://www.nearmedia.co/subscribe/

TikTok agrees to withdraw rewards feature after EU raised concerns about potential online addiction

TikTok has agreed to withdraw a rewards feature that raised concerns about its potential to encourage excessive screen time, particularly among children, the European Union's executive commission said. It was the first resolution of an investigation under the 27-country EU's sweeping Digital Services Act (DSA), which went into effect in February and aims to ensure a "safe and accountable online environment" by regulating large digital platforms. TikTok made the commitment without conceding the feature violated the Digital Services Act, officials said. The commission has however ruled that the withdrawal is legally binding, which "sends a clear message to the entire social media industry," said Margrethe Vestager, European Commission for digital affairs. "Design features on platforms with addictive effects put the well-being of their users at risk," she said in a statement. "That's why we have made TikTok's commitments under the DSA legally binding." The case involves TikTok Lite, a low-bandwidth version of the app released in Spain and France. It allowed users to earn points for things like following creators, liking content, or inviting friends to join TikTok. The points could be exchanged for Amazon vouchers and gift cards on PayPal. TikTok said rewards were restricted to users 18 years and older, who had to verify their age. Users could watch up to one hour a day of videos to earn rewards, which were capped at the equivalent of one euro ($1.09) a day. The commission opened an investigation in April due to concerns that TikTok has not done a diligent assessment required under the act of the feature's potential "addictive effect," especially for children, "given suspected absence of effective age verification mechanisms on TikTok." The resolution of the TikTok Lite investigation does not affect an earlier probe launched against TikTok focusing on concerns about the protection of minors, advertising transparency, data access for researchers, and mitigating risks of "behavioral addiction" and harmful content. //The Wire//2200Z August 26, 2024////ROUTINE////BLUF: ISRAEL CONDUCTS AIRSTRIKES IN LEBANON. TELEGRAM FOUNDER ARRESTED IN FRANCE. HOUTHIS CONTINUE TO HONE TARGETING TACTICS.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Middle East: Yesterday at approximately 0500B Israeli forces conducted substantial airstrikes within southern Lebanon, reportedly targeting pre-staged Hezbollah rockets. Immediately in retaliation to these strikes, Hezbollah counterattacked by firing hundreds of rockets that Israeli forces did not successfully target. Due to this latest escalation, most commercial aviation has been sporadically halted throughout the region, and Israel has declared a state of emergency for the next 48 hours.France: Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, was arrested by French authorities over the weekend. The arrest was made in conjunction with alleged violations of the European Union mandates within the Digital Services Act (DSA). AC: This arrest was made under many of the same conditions and allegations that other social media platform owners have faced, who do not abide by the EU's censorship mandates. Durov is being prosecuted under the same blanket of threats that the EU has issued to Elon Musk and other social media giants. Consequently, the founder of Rumble, Chris Pavlovski, immediately departed Europe for his own safety, due to the precedent that has now been set.Red Sea/HOA: Houthi targeting continues as before, with some change in tactics. Details of the targeting of the M/V Sounion have come to light, namely that the targeting was possibly not carried out by a cruise missile or unmanned vessel, but by explosive charges being affixed to the side of the vessel by Houthi militants in small craft. This theory is supported by the vessel reporting being shadowed for some time by militants in small craft. AC: Though the use of improvised Limpet mines to target vessels is not a new concept, (if true) this does mark a change in Houthi tactics, which over the past few months have become more broad and technically skilled.-HomeFront-Washington D.C. – The Pentagon is moving forward with the latest round of fleet reduction efforts, and is reportedly planning to mothball 17 more vessels. This fleet reduction is allegedly due to the dwindling numbers of Merchant Mariners that are able to help crew and maintain various classes of support vessel. Most of the vessels marked for placement into “extended maintenance” are Fast Transport ships, and a few replenishment vessels.AC: Of note, two expeditionary seabase vessels (the USS Lewis Puller and the USS Herschel “Woody” Williams) are on the chopping block, which signals the desperation of the fleet. The Puller is a brand-new vessel (being commissioned only in 2017) and has seen only seven years of service before being mothballed. The “Woody” Williams is even newer, only being commissioned in 2020, and having seen only four years of service.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: At this juncture, it would be safe to conclude that the Middle East peace talks have not been successful. The strikes in Lebanon are probably the largest operation carried out by Israel in Lebanon in decades, with well over 45 different sites/towns reportedly being struck in some way. Right now, it is not clear as to if some sort of Israeli ground operation is planned (though this potential appears to be unlikely for the time being). Consequently, the potential for ground forces to become involved (to some degree) cannot be dismissed in the future as Israeli operations expand. What's less clear at the moment is which party is to blame for this latest serious escalation. If Israeli intelligence did indeed intercept the locations of dozens of pre-staged rocket sites, the question remains regarding how Hezbollah was able to launch hundreds of rockets within just a few minutes of the first Israe

A New Regulatory Reality - How Big Tech Can Ensure New Rules Become Just Another Cost of Doing Business

Guest post by Mike Harris, Partner, Cyber Security, Grant Thornton With the first independent auditor reports as part of the Digital Services Act due this month, major social media and search engine companies face a new era of transparency as part of an increased regulatory stance in Europe. Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act will help tackle disinformation, boost safety of minors online and dilute Big Tech's market power. Different regulatory philosophies are still being ironed out, with Ireland's principals-based approach contrasting with continentalEurope's more prescriptive enforcement. For those who have observed the financial sector over the past two decades, watching tech companies understand their obligations under Europe's Digital Services Act (DSA) and the Digital Markets Act (DMA) may evoke a sense of deja vu. Since the turn of the millennium, Europe has seen significant developments in financial regulation, particularly in response to the 2008 economic crisis. Frameworks such as the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) and European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) sought to increase competition and offer greater consumer protection as regulators navigated a landscape of competing interests and complex ecosystems. The early days of these rules were marked with fraught exchanges as companies worked their way through implementation. Before long, they just became another cost of doing business. Tech companies are experiencing a similar shift in regulatory philosophy from a light touch to a more proactive, stringent approach as the DSA and DMA follow GDPR and the Network Information Security Directive amid a broader trend towards tighter regulation. As we approach the first independent auditor reporting period for very large online platforms (VLOPs) and very large online search engines (VLOSEs) such as Meta and Google under the new digital regime, we are in a similar spot marked by gradual adaptation, responses to emerging challenges, and a balancing act between innovation and oversight. Time to show your cards After a long, complex gestation involving various stakeholders, including the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, and the European Commission, the proposed regulation is a new reality as tech companies enter their first reporting periods. For tech companies, this represents a significant shift as they now shoulder the burden of showing compliance with strict rules on content moderation, advertisingtransparency, and greater user choice to control what they see. The DSA and DMA are part of a single set of new rules that apply across the entire EU to regulate digital services such as online marketplaces, social networks, content-sharing platforms, app stores, and online travel and accommodation platforms. The DSA specifically targets online intermediary services by imposing strict obligations, with additional rules and obligations imposed on very large online platforms and search engines with more than 45 million monthly users in the EU. On the other hand, the DMA focuses on very large digital platforms designated as gatekeepers providing digital services allowing for a fairer business environment for users and new entrants into the market. Tech companies have been actively working to comply with the new regulations. They have changed or stopped activities they have done previously while engaging with the Commission to provide information and documentation following formal requests for information. The DMA demands that platform giants like Apple, Alphabet, and Meta become more open to competition by imposing a new set of legal requirements on more than twenty of their core platform services (CPS). Companies designated under the DMA as "gatekeepers" must make significant changes to their operations, including not discriminating against similar services or products offered by third parties on their platform. Failure to comply with the Regulations can lead to signif...

What about promises kept? In the debt-ceiling deal outlined Sunday and due to be inked later this week, McCarthy has allowed the lion’s share of that extra IRS funding to remain unmolested: preserving $78.1 billion of the $80 billion. As rebel GOP Rep Dan Bishop put it: “So there will be 85,260 more IRS agents rather than 87,000 to eat you alive. Big win.” Overpromising and underdelivering is what turns voters off the GOP. You don’t mount a powerful six-month fear campaign about 87,000 new, armed IRS agents ready to break down people’s doors, and then meekly capitulate at the first sign of resistance. Even if those fears were exaggerated, your credibility rests on delivering a lot more than 2% of what you promised. In any case the fears about a weaponized IRS targeting Biden’s opponents are very real. If anything, the IRS is worse today than it was during the Obama administration, when Lois Lerner presided over the targeted harassment of Tea Party groups and other conservatives. Not a single IRS employee was held accountable for the scandal. Lerner retired on a full pension without even a slap on the wrist. This is the same IRS which went after journalist Matt Taibbi last December, three weeks after he started reporting on the so-called “Twitter Files,” which revealed that censorship on the social-media platform had been coordinated by federal government agencies such as the FBI and CIA. On March 9, when Taibbi was testifying in Congress about, ironically enough, the weaponization of the federal government, IRS agents showed up unannounced at his New Jersey home. The IRS file on Taibbi was opened the day he posted his ninth and most explosive Twitter file, detailing how agencies including the Pentagon and the State Department had colluded with Twitter to stifle dissent. It was Christmas Eve, a Saturday, which shows what an unusual priority it was for an agency that normally goes to sleep for two weeks over Christmas and whose standard work week is Monday through Friday. Under questioning from Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, the IRS has claimed it had concerns about “identity fraud” with Taibbi’s 2018 and 2021 tax returns, and that he was sent two letters before the home visit. Yet Taibbi says he and his accountant never received any letters. Even more “unnerving” as Taibbi puts it, was the fact that an IRS case agent had compiled a dossier on him which included personal information such as his voter registration records and whether he had a concealed-weapons permit or a hunting or fishing license. Unlike Hunter Biden, Taibbi didn’t owe the IRS any taxes and in fact was due a refund. And yes, this is the same IRS which removed its entire investigative team from the Hunter Biden case on DOJ orders after two senior agents complained about DOJ interference. https://thepostmillennial.com/blm-co-founder-loses-multi-platform-warner-brothers-deal-after-delivering-no-content-on-contract?utm_campaign=64487 BLM co-founder loses multi-platform Warner Brothers deal after delivering no content on contract In October 2020, 39-year-old Black Lives Matter co-founder and former leader Patrisse Cullors signed a multi-year contract with Warner Bros Television Group to create content for the entertainment giant, but the studio quietly ended then relationship last year with no material produced, reports the New York Post. On Friday, a source familiar with the situation told the outlet, "The studio signed an overall deal with BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors at some point in 2020" but the "Deal expired at end of October 2022." "The deal unfortunately did not result in any produced shows," the source added. The agreement was a multi-year, multi-platform deal in which Cullors would produce original material, including scripted comedies and dramas, animated shows, and documentary series, that would focus on black stories. The content would go out on the distributor's broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms. Variety first reported on the deal in 2020 but did not disclose its value. Previously, Cullors said in an interview that she was working on material for Warner Bros, including documentaries focused on reparations and social mobility of black Americans as well as a scripted program on marijuana. Patrisse Cullors, who helped found BLM in 2013, stepped down from the organization after a real-estate scandal emerged in May 2021 when it was revealed she spent $3.2 million on four different homes in Georgia and California. Soon after more reports started to emerge of Black Lives Matter leadership using company funds for personal luxury. Upon stepping down, Cullors claimed she was doing so in order to focus on her book and TV deal. In April 2022, Cullors said that 990 tax forms required for charities were "triggering" and that the forms were being "weaponized" against organizations like hers. The IRS 990 is a routine document charities must fill out annually to disclose their financial activities. Now this!!! https://www.theepochtimes.com/eu-issues-waring-after-elon-musk-pulls-twitter-out-of-anti-disinformation-agreement_5296657.html?utm_source=partner&utm_campaign=BonginoReport EU Issues Warning After Elon Musk Pulls Twitter Out of Anti-‘Disinformation’ Agreement Senior European Union officials were furious over the weekend after Twitter owner Elon Musk pulled the social media platform out of the bloc’s “Code of Practice,” which critics say is tantamount to a censorship regime. The EU’s internal market commissioner, Thierry Breton, wrote that Twitter left the bloc’s Code of Practice, after reports claimed the platform would do so. Breton warned that Twitter would face some legal liabilities. “Twitter leaves EU voluntary Code of Practice against disinformation. But obligations remain. You can run, but you can’t hide,” Breton wrote. “Beyond voluntary commitments, fighting disinformation will be legal obligation under #DSA as of August 25. Our teams will be ready for enforcement.” An EU official also told Euractiv that the bloc is “waiting for this,” and “it was purely a matter of time” before reports surfaced that Musk would withdraw. The rules known as the Digital Services Act (DSA) require companies to do risk management, conduct external and independent auditing, share data with authorities and researchers, and adopt a code of conduct by August. The 19 companies that are subject to the rules include Alphabet’s Google Maps, Google Play, Google Search, Google Shopping, YouTube, Meta’s Facebook and Instagram, Amazon’s Marketplace, Apple’s App Store, and Twitter. The others are Microsoft’s two units LinkedIn and Bing, booking.com, Pinterest, Snap Inc’s Snapchat, TikTok, Wikipedia, Zalando, and Alibaba’s AliExpress. Breton said he was checking to see whether another four to five companies fall under the DSA, with a decision expected in the next few weeks. Breton singled out Facebook’s content moderation system for criticism because of its role in building opinions on key issues. Twitter had agreed earlier to a stress test, and Breton said he and his team would travel to the company’s headquarters in San Francisco at the end of June of this year to carry out the voluntary mock exercise. Breton didn’t detail what the test would entail. There are guardrails for content generated by artificial intelligence, like deep fake videos and synthetic images, which will have to be clearly labeled when they come up in search results, Breton said. He’s also said that under the Digital Services Act, violations could be punished with hefty fines of up to 6 percent of a company’s annual revenue. Platforms will have to “completely redesign” their systems to ensure a high level of privacy and safety for children, including verifying users’ ages, Breton said. Big Tech companies also will have to revamp their systems to “prevent algorithmic amplification of disinformation,” he said, saying he was particularly concerned about Facebook’s content moderation systems ahead of September elections in Slovakia. The movie "Madden" will be directed by five-time Oscar nominee David O. Russell, who previously served as director of the critically acclaimed film "Silver Linings Playbook," among others. The film is expected to touch on Madden's time as head coach of the Raiders, his television broadcasting career and how he became the creative force behind one of the most popular video game franchises of all-time. This project is independent of a separate limited series about Madden's life, with Tom Brady as executive producer, Deadline previously reported. It remains unclear when filming on "Madden" will begin. An official release date for the film has not been announced. New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch is listed as one of the "Madden" producers. It is widely expected the NFL "will embrace the feature film on one of the sport's most beloved figures," according to Deadline. Ferrell is a California native and attended the University of Southern California, where he studied sports information. He makes frequent appearances at USC Trojans football games and is a diehard Los Angeles Kings fan.
