It took just three days from pseudoephedrine to be back on his pharmacy's shelves for owner John Burt to be burgled. And the burglar was only interested in taking that product from his Unichem pharmacy in Motueka during the smash and grab two weeks ago. The return of the popular cold and flu drug as an over-the-counter medicine was championed by the Act Party at last year's election and secured as part of the coalition agreement. The product was made prescription-only back in 2011 as part of efforts to curb its use in methamphetamine production. But with its reintroduction, there's no national monitoring of who's buying it. That, say some pharmacists, is a missed opportunity. Pharmacist John Burt speaks to Kathryn.

A team is the synergy of distinct mindsets and skillsets that collaborate to work for a common purpose. Getting a team to function on a high level takes time. The challenge increases if the team transcends different cultures, geographies, languages, unique experiences and mindset. Leaders who understand how to work within a cross-cultural team environment can have a very rewarding, successful experience. However, organizations and leaders that fail to consider these fundamental differences within a team quickly lead to conflict and frustration. John Burt is a Master Certified Executive Coach and has several years experience in leading cross-cultural teams in several countries and cultures globally. Bruce Lee once state that, "Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one." This is as relevant in leadership as it is in our own personal lives. The organizations that thrive year after year have strong, resilient leaders at all levels. However, being resilient isn't only about toughing it out. Being strong in stressful situations is part of resilency, but it is only one piece of the puzzle.John Burt, Master Certified Executive Coach joins us on this episode to unpack the importance of resiliency in leadership.https://johnburt.intelligentleadershipec.com/ Thank you to all of our listeners in over 70 countries and 580 cities worldwide, we greatly appreciate your support! The Texas Longhorns football team is back on the field for spring practice, in spite of several pieces still in flux as the team lined up for the first time. Offensively, early enrolee Jordan Whittington is lining up in the backfield and some young wide receivers will get a shot with Collin Johnson, Devin Duvernay and John Burt all missing time. On the defensive side, defensive tackle Keondre Coburn is dealing with health issues and junior college enrolee Caleb Johnson will be held out of contact for the start of practice. So what groups should we keep our eyes on over the next few weeks? The basketball team couldn't get the job done on senior night, falling to the TCU Horned Frogs and losing their fifth out of six games. They now open the Big 12 Tournament against No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks, who they have played well against all season. Texas faces a potential must-win game in the conference tournament to avoid finishing the season 16-16. After a 4-0 shutout of the Stanford Cardinal, the baseball team struggled with injuries and errors to drop the final three games of the weekend series. As Texas heads back home, they need to figure out how to clean it up, as they prepare for a tough weekend series against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Kyle and Gerald close the show out by honoring one of the best traditions in all of college sports, Big Bertha, as they Bang the Drum (43:24). In this week’s Longhorn Republic, Gerald Goodridge and Kyle Carpenter break down which Texas players helped themselves big time at Texas’s annual Pro Day (2:35) and why teams should stop sleeping on Poona Ford. Then they look at the next set of names that are exiting the Texas program, with Eric Davis, Jr. and Kerwin Roach II setting their eyes on the NBA, while James Banks explores the transfer market (13:12). As always, they close the show honoring Big Bertha and they Bang the Drum (27:41). Kyle builds his excitement for all of the Longhorns playing in the 2018 Masters Golf Tournament, while Gerald fawns over John Burt’s speed. Anti-abortion extremist murders Florida doctor. Despite daily pickets, protests and death threats from anti-abortionists, Dr. David Gunn provided abortion services to women in Alabama, Georgia and Florida. He paid for his courage and defiance with his life on March 10, 1993. That’s the day anti-abortion extremist Michael Griffin responded to what he called “a sign from God” by murdering Gunn outside the Pensacola Florida Women’s Medical Services abortion clinic. The crime fuelled the debate over abortion in the U.S. John Burt, regional director of the anti-abortion organization Rescue America, said, "The use of lethal force was justifiable, provided it was carried out for the purpose of defending the lives of unborn children." Although Griffin was sentenced to life in prison in 1994 for the murder of Dr. Gunn, doctors performing abortions continued to be killed or wounded by anti-abortion fanatics for several years following Gunn’s death. In this week’s Longhorn Republic, Gerald Goodridge and Kyle Carpenter feel some relief after Texas manages to put together back-to-back wins, thanks in-part to outstanding performances from Mohamad Bamba. They then look at what the possible transfer of freshman standout Reggie Hemphill-Mapps could do to the Texas offense, and if players like Jerrod Heard or John Burt could fill in. Finally, Kyle bangs the drum on the Big 12’s performance in the Big 12/SEC challenge and Gerald calls for tempered expectations for football in 2018. Then they look at what new Texas co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Herb Hand brings to the Forty Acres. This week, Kyle bangs the drum on the prospects of Kris Boyd and Caden Sterns returning DBU to it’s proper stature, and Gerald makes his case for John Burt to get more looks.
