This podcast contains sensitive content, including discussion of suicide.   Lisa Morris stopped going to Reconciliation as a teenager. She figured she could just go to God herself. Lisa now recognizes her turn away from God was the beginning of many choices that resulted in immense suffering, including an abortion, eating disorder, poor relationship with alcohol and divorce. Lisa went to church on an impulse the morning she signed her divorce papers--she had a full circle moment when Confession was available and she attended about fifteen years after she stopped going.   Lisa was touched by the unfathomable mercy of God in the confessional and began a healing journey of the soul. Lisa wants you to know this gift is awaiting you, too.

Lisa Morris Jones joins us in celebration of Black History Month. Lisa is an alumna of the undergraduate program here at Haas. She is a CFA Chartholder and a Master of Business Administration - MBA focused on Finance and Entrepreneurial Management from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Currently, she is the president of the LMJ Group, a real estate management and development of commercial and residential properties throughout California. In this episode, Lisa shared a little about her origin story, her interest in finance and entrepreneurship, and her extensive career. She is a strong professional with a demonstrated history of working in real estate development and management, investment management, and community development finance. She also talked about what it was like being a Black female in finance back in the 80s when she started working and what inspired her to push forward even with some roadblocks. Currently, she is supporting the Haas MBA fellowships program for Historically Black Colleges and Universities.Another passion for Lisa is helping underserved and distressed communities. She is working on how to provide the needed capital to be able to help these communities thrive.Episode Quotes:How Haas helped her make her way through WhartonSo much of what I learned at Haas, especially in marketing, accounting, and finance, those fundamentals were just absolutely essential in helping me go to Wharton, to be able to do other things while I was there and to really enjoy that experience. On her experience as a Black woman in finance in the 80sThere were definitely people that discouraged me and many, many roadblocks. Lots of people telling me, "Maybe, you should focus on another discipline. This would be too challenging, too hard." You can't really control how people think about you. It's what you think about yourself that's really important. You have ways to really reinforce who you are and build yourself up. I always said that if I'm prepared, I know the opportunities will come. And then, I can be able to walk through them. And I know that change in time is on your side. It may take a little time, but things are changing and moving in the right direction. And you have to keep that level of optimism because there's always going to be someone to tell you, you can't do it.Show Links:LinkedInSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/onehaas/donations

The diagnosis of cleft lip and palate is much more common than you might realize, but the treatment is accessible, advanced and comprehensive! We can't quite say that cleft lip and palate is “no big deal,” but we can say an entire team of doctors, surgeons, dentists, speech therapists and social workers are trained and experienced at making this diagnosis as low-impact and manageable as possible. Most babies who have a cleft lip or cleft palate only have a slight, unnoticeable scar after receiving treatment. To discuss the team approach for treating cleft lip and palate, ParentingU host Stephanie is joined by Lisa Morris, MD and Laura Hetzler, MD—both otolaryngologists (Ear, Nose and Throat physicians), both with specialties in facial plastic surgery; and co-directors of Our Lady of the Lake Cleft and Craniofacial Multidisciplinary Team. You will hear the passion these doctors have for their specialties and receive an education about how a medical team can work together for their infant patients and their families. What kinds of doctors help with cleft lip and palate treatment? Can a baby with a cleft lip have a normal life? How do babies with cleft lip and palate eat?  Two Wheeled Nomad / Royal Enfield Two years ago we had Lisa Morris and Jason Spafford, Two Wheeled Nomad, on ARR. At the time Lisa was a newbie to riding, and the trip was just in the beginning stages. Recently, Jim talked with Lisa and Jason about what they've been up to as they plan the next leg of their adventure. Where are they headed to and is there any end in sight to their moto adventure? And on the heels of the grand opening of the Royal Enfield North America headquarters and first flagship showroom opening, Jim had the opportunity to discuss the future of the Royal Enfield motorcycle with Siddartha Lal, CEO of Royal Enfield and Rod Copes, President of Royal Enfield North America. Will an adventure bike be coming to North America? Two Wheeled Nomad - Lisa Morris & Jason Spafford Two years on the road, and still going strong, Lisa and Jason talk about their adventures and future plans. Lisa is a travel writer and Jason is an adventure photographer, both freelancing on the road to help keep up their nomadic lifestyle. (Sept. 12, 2016) Royal Enfield North America Cruises Into Milwaukee With the Opening of North American Headquarters and First Flagship Showroom Oldest Motorcycle Brand in Continuous Production Focuses Efforts in North America It was a historic day for Royal Enfield, the fastest-growing motorcycle brand in the world, as it marked the opening of its first flagship dealer experience in Milwaukee, the heart of the North American motorcycle community.   Royal Enfield CEO Siddhartha Lal and Rod Copes, president of Royal Enfield North America, addressed the crowd, including VIPs and dignitaries, at the grand opening event this past weekend.  “Royal Enfield is focused on delivering a ‘Pure Motorcycling’ experience to consumers. Our motorcycles are classically styled, simple, evocative and fun to ride. Royal Enfield creates a unique experience for riders that is approachable and unintimidating,” Copes said at the press conference. “This is the brand’s first stand-alone showroom location in the U.S., which brings to life the 115-year heritage of Royal Enfield – a history we’re very proud of.” The company has also selected Milwaukee as the location of its headquarters and currently employs a staff of 20. “Myself and the rest of the Royal Enfield global leadership are committed to the North American region,” Lal said. “Since 2010, we have increased production from 50,000 units to 500,000 units globally, and we are expected to produce 675,000 by the end of this fiscal year. North America is key to the contribution of that global growth.” Royal Enfield North America will be continuing the brand’s storied history with the unveiling of its North American model lineup, featuring single-cylinder engines currently up to 535 cc.
