(00:01) Power and Putting in Golf This chapter explores the fundamentals of generating power in a golf swing, focusing on the crucial role of ground force. We examine how energy originates from our interaction with the ground and is transferred through our bodies to enhance swing speed. Through practical examples, like push-ups and spinning in a chair, we illustrate how pushing into an immovable object—like the ground—creates propulsion. We clarify misconceptions about timing, emphasizing that many golfers apply this force too late in their swings, reducing effectiveness. Insights from recent power schools highlight how understanding and timing ground force correctly can lead to improved swing performance and lower scores. (14:41) Golf Swing Sequencing Tools and Tips This chapter focuses on the importance of proper sequencing in a golf swing and how common issues can arise when the arms move faster than the torso. To address this, we explore simple and accessible tools to improve swing sequencing. We emphasize the benefits of using a rope to practice swings, as it naturally encourages the correct sequence from the lower body to the torso and arms, unlike other tools that allow for pushing. Additionally, we introduce a homemade device made from PVC pipe and a swim noodle to enhance the traditional method of using a club across the shoulders. This innovative tool provides comfort and a springy effect to help golfers rotate their chest effectively without discomfort. Through these practical solutions, we aim to help golfers achieve a more synchronized and powerful swing. (26:07) Improving Distance With Tour Striker This chapter highlights the importance of not just clubhead speed but also ball speed, spin, and launch angle in achieving greater distance in golf. We emphasize that striking the center of the clubface is crucial, as faster clubhead speed is ineffective if the ball is hit poorly. I introduce the Tour Striker club, designed by Martin Chuck, which helps golfers improve their striking by ensuring proper contact and de-lofting, resulting in better launch angles and smash factors. We also discuss how newer golf clubs might offer more forgiveness, but ultimately, skill in hitting the ball correctly remains key to maximizing distance. By practicing with specialized training tools and focusing on proper technique, anyone can improve their golf game and hit the ball farther without relying solely on the latest club technology. (35:43) Mastering Short Game and Putting This chapter explores the intricacies of improving short game performance in golf, particularly focusing on the importance of mastering wedge shots and putting techniques. We discuss how honing wedge shots can lead to better performance with longer irons, emphasizing the same fundamental principles. The conversation highlights common pitfalls in putting, such as overactive wrists and poor grip, which often lead to missed shots. I share insights on calming the wrists and achieving a more stable stroke by adjusting the grip to fit natural arm positions, thus minimizing face twists. Additionally, we address the debate over whether putting strokes should be straight back and through or arcing, clarifying that it can be a combination of both, depending on individual technique and putter design. (45:14) Improving Pitching Leads to Successful 5-Iron This chapter shares an anecdote about the significant improvements in golf skills, particularly in pitching, following Jeff's guidance. I recount how, despite previous struggles with the 5-iron, applying Jeff's advice on improving wedge shots has translated into better performance across other clubs. I describe a moment of success when hitting a 168-yard shot onto the green with the 5-iron, a club that had remained unused all season. The experience highlights the broader impact of honing specific skills on overall gameplay.

In Part 2 of Episode 21, I catch up with 2003 PGA Champion Shaun Micheel and Top 10 Instructor Martin Chuck. I have been saying for years that Shaun Micheel is the most underrated and under-appreciated player in PGA Tour History. Most remember his incredible win at the 2003 PGA Championship, hitting one of the greatest approach shots in major golf history. He came to that 72nd hole with a 1-stroke lead over Chad Campbell. He then hit his 7-iron approach shot to 3 inches from the cup. What people don't remember is that he nearly doubled down at the 2006 PGA, finishing 2nd to Tiger. He also finished runner-up at the 2006 World Match Play Championship after defeating Tiger in the first round 4 & 3. During his PGA Tour career he had 20 Top 10 finishes and 57 Top 25s. You'll hear him share his experiences playing in the 2004 Masters. His practice round with Jack and playing in the group behind Arnold Palmer during Arnie's final Masters appearance that year. Plus, playing in the group with Seve during his final Open appearance. Martin Chuck is ranked #7 in Golf Digest's Top Instructor rankings. He has recently teamed with Chris McGinley, formerly of Titleist and the guy who discovered Bob Vokey years ago, and Performance Golf to promote a set of wedges that are simply fantastic. We talk about the technology that Chris put into these wedges that will help us hit better shots from tight lies, divots, rough, and green-side bunkers. Plus the spin these full-face wedges put on the ball so we can get our chips closer to the hole. I love the feel of these wedges.
Welcome to the Fore Golfers Network/Michigan Golf Live Podcast Ep 420 - The Unique Story Behind The ONE Club Trainer We're sharing the story of passion, science, family, golf, and innovation - in the form of the ONE Club Trainer and developer Alcide Deschesnes. Top teaching professionals such as Mike Adams, Martin Chuck, and Jeff Smith have already incorporated the ONE Club into their instructional protocols and top long drive champions, including World Long Drive Champion Justin James are using ONE to generate better club head speeds and release points. The ONE Club features patented technology. It is engineered to enhance a golfer's swing mechanics using Dynamic Inertia Resistance which engrains the correct neuromuscular paths for swing consistency. The ONE Club Background Story The ONE Club was developed by Canadian entrepreneur Alcide Deschesnes, an engineer and mixed martial arts professional and his brother, Jimmy, a physician afflicted with MS who was determined not to lose athletic performance despite his illness. The two began developing the device in 2006 with parts sourced from Home Depot. The brothers found that the ONE Club produced almost instantaneous results. Alcide's swing speed jumped from 105 miles per hour (mph) to 128 mph in two months! Upon his brother's passing in 2011, Alcide continued to refine the ONE Club's design, develop tooling, and ultimately find a Canadian manufacturer to produce the Club. The ONE Club's launch was further delayed by the COVID epidemic, delaying the product's availability until October of 2022 on a limited basis. Deschesnes attended the PGA Show in January 2023 where he demonstrated the ONE to several top golf instructors and professionals. TP and I get into fan behavior and whether we've all lost our collective minds following the Wasted Management Open, Charlie Woods dealing with unruly fans at a pre-qualifying event for the Cognizant Classic, and the Duke/Wake Forest incident where a player got injured when Wake Forest fans stormed the court. John Kennedy is one of THE most nationally and locally decorated and respected PGA Professionals in the game. Martin Chuck has been named a Top 100 Instructor every year since 2017. He has also created several of the best training aids on the market. We hear about his college golf days at New Mexico State playing alongside 2002 PGA Champion Rich Beem. Martin has created training aids that actually will help you play better. PGA Tour Players like Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy have been seen using them out on the practice range. We dive into a few of them and what Tour players plus the rest of us will get when you make them a part of your practice routine. I wrap up this week's show with a visit from Chris Mitchell. Chris is one of the foremost experts in fantasy sports. He is also about to start writing for NewEngland.golf. He will be reviewing courses all along Cape Cod. If you're headed over there this summer, you'll want to hear what Chris has to say.

In this week's podcast, hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell talk about the debauchery at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl, and chat with top golf coach Martin Chuck and rising LPGA star Maja Stark. The Waste(d) Management Pheonix Open hit a nerve with unruly behavior and bad weather, but a Canadian took the win in extra holes (1:57). On the Korn Ferry Tour, we got a new low low low low low round as Cristobal Del Solar notched a 57 (8:38). LIV Golf has found a formula of being in the right place at the right time as they hosted their tournament in Vegas the week of the Super Bowl (10:17). Our first guest is a Golf Digest Top 10 Coach, inventor, and the man behind the Tour Striker Academy, Martin Chuck. Martin chats with Alex from the PGA Show floor about what it's like coaching players on the PGA TOUR, and how a cutting board was turned into a crazy training aid (18:07). Our next guest is an LPGA rising star with a Solheim Cup to boot, Maja Stark. Maja chats with Alex about growing up learning the game in Sweden, the cruelty of the course at the Solheim Cup, and what really happened after the Europeans won this year (45:45). The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl, and Michael has to ask Alex if this new dynasty, as well as Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid, are better than the Patriots, Tom Brady, and Bill Belichick (1:04:34). Striking the ball properly is all about the the point of impact. It's nearly impossible to modify our swing mechanics on our own, but when you understand the club face position at contact with the ball, you will become a better ball striker. Martin Chuck, PGA, is also the inventor of the very popular Tour Striker, one of the best (based on listener feedback) and most effective training tools you can ever try. If you've ever seen the infomercial, you know the selling points. In this half hour interview with host Fred Greene, Martin discusses how most amateurs sweep, flip or pick at the ball instead of understanding how to get their hands in the correct position for quality impact. Practicing with a Tour Striker does that better than any tool I've ever tried. Martin also shatters some classic cliches we all repeat but don't understand, like “slow down your backswing”, “swing easy”, and “hit down to make it go up”. Gopher great and current assistant hockey coach Paul Martin joins the program to talk about the Gophers trip to the frozen four. Later we hit on another Chuck Roast and ask the question, are you more excited for the men's or women's NCAA championship?
Today on the show we have a very special guest in the shape of Martin Chuck one of the VERY best and most highly regarded golf coaches in the world. If you want to take a lesson with him he is booked up literally months in advance Martin has an incredible story of how he developed both as a player and then to become a top coach. He spent a LOT of time with two absolute legends of the game Moe Norman and George Knudson. Martin shared those early experiences of spending time watching Moe practice and listening to his philosophy of how to play the game. Listening to the awesome quality of his ball striking. The way he just flushed shot after shot dead out of the middle of the club. Can you imagine how rich an experience that must have been? Spending time watching George Knudson teach. Soaking up the way he helped students and developed their game. The value of spending time with truly great people. From a coaching philosophy Martin has some wonderfully simple and effective concepts. Most of them designed to help you hit the ball more often flush out of the middle of the club As he says, ‘Isn't that what most golfers REALLY get a buzz from?' Hitting the ball FLUSH out of the centre of the clubface. He shares with us one AMAZING drill that will literally make you so much more aware of what is ACTUALLY going on in your swing As Martin says he ‘can't be embarrassed' What a wonderful quality but as we discuss it is very much about changing your relationship with outcomes so the game doesn't hurt you so much How you can WIN on EVERY shot Golf is right here and right NOW!! To hell with everything else A fantastic session full of great wisdom from someone who has developed a wonderful PRACTICAL coaching philosophy Martin Chuck Martin has a knack to be able to communicate to the masses. While he has coached some of the best players in the World, he prefers to work with the average, developing golfer. The "puzzle" of providing the right information at the right time is a thrill for Martin... The homebase for his wildly popular golf school is at The Raven in Phoenix, Arizona and during the Summer months he takes his show on the round to escape a little of the Phoenix heat. Regardless of the layout, hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell struggle to tell who won this week, Harris English or Hudson Swafford (2:05). The LPGA Tour kicked off the season with a pro-am event in Orlando, FL, where Danielle Kang returned to form to earn a win after a winless 2021 (6:47). But Alex is just excited to see Thomas Pieters back in the winners circle (9:42). The PGA Merchandise Show is finally here this week, and Alex can't wait to share everything he'll see and do in Orlando (11:08). The PGA Tour moves this week's event forward a day, which means Torey Pines will host the favorite Farmer's Insurance Open starting on Wednesday with a loaded field including favorite Jon Rahm (13:34). In Tuned In, Michael is breaking out another new game from Christmas, this one including cats and blankets, while Alex is watching an infamous movie from the late-90s (16:04). This week's guest is a golf coach star on social media, and an inventor who makes some great training aids. Martin Chuck chats with Alex on his time growing up in Canada, teaching in Arizona, and the importance of avoiding the chicken wing (19:15). The NFL did not disappoint this weekend, and Alex and Michael are ready for some fresh blood in the Super Bowl (54:!2). As the guys #AlwaysEndWithFood, Alex is ready to start having bread again, while Michael never stopped having some sweets (58:52).
