In its second vote attempt in exactly a week, the U.S. House on Tuesday night impeached Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who becomes the first sitting cabinet member to be impeached in U.S. history. Mayorkas was impeached largely along party lines by a vote of 214-213, with three Republicans voting with 210 Democrats against. As more than 10 million illegal border crossers entered the country in three years and a record number of known or suspected terrorists have been apprehended under Mayorkas' watch, House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green, MD, R-Tenn., led the charge to impeach him. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/america-in-focus/support
More revelations about the five-hour conversation between Special Counsel Hur and Joe Biden show that Hur NEVER mentioned Joe's dead son, Beau. Remember: Joe, in his speech after Hur's report was released, blasted Hur for even talking about Beau: Hur didn't! Joe brought it up himself. But he has no cognitive challenges, right? Today, we analyze other very timely topics that include the mysterious "national security" happening that we were warned by Congress will "impact not just the U.S., but every country on Earth!" And we still have NO details given to us. The left is exhausting every resource they have in efforts to force the House to pass their latest "border security" bill that is nothing more than continuing Biden and Mayorkas' "open border policies." Speaker Johnson continues to respond to questions that House Republicans passed a comprehensive border plan early last year that the Senate has refused to take up and even consider. (Why is it OK for Democrats to NOT consider a bill, but Republicans MUST do so?)
On Tuesday, the leader of our nation, President Biden, voiced his disapproval towards the 214 House Republicans who chose to support the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The President, who believes such an action will leave a black mark in the annals of history, also expressed his profound respect for Mayorkas' lifelong commitment to upholding the law. Rewinding a decorated career that stretches to the Justice Department, it is clear that Secretary Mayorkas has a distinguished path in public service. Notably, his fruitful stints as a U.S. Attorney, later as Deputy Secretary, and finally, as Homeland Security Secretary, indeed portray a man deeply committed to preserving the core principles that make America a great nation. In a declaration released by the White House, President Biden quotes these facts to underline the 'baselessness' of the suggested impeachment against Mayorkas. The accusations were perceived by him as being groundless, lacking proper substance, and not reflective of the esteemed Homeland Security Secretary's reputation for integrity and compliance with the law. Interestingly, it was a very close vote in The House, which decided in favor of a motion towards impeachment, ending with 214-213. Nevertheless, the President made clear that he believed the energy of these GOP lawmakers who backed the impeachment could have been directed towards something more constructive - serving the American people. President Biden suggested that these Republican lawmakers could focus their efforts on endorsing legislation that would provide his administration with the necessary tools and resources to tackle the situation at the southern border. In his perspective, these efforts would be more in line with their constitutional duty to uphold the rule of law and serve the people. Unfortunately, the President stated, the same lawmakers fueling the impeachment motion seem to be ignoring bipartisan proposals for strengthening border security. This vaunted work involved Secretary Mayorkas and other administration personnel, perhaps for the well first time, willing to shed political colors to address a pressing issue head-on. The President shared his thoughts about this matter, stating that the same Republicans currently pushing for this impeachment are ironically rejecting efforts to bolster border security, much of it steaming from their own past demands. This reversal, in short of significant border bills, dismays not only the President but possibly the American people as well. In the view of President Biden, real solutions are exactly what's needed during these turbulent times, and using these necessary efforts as political leverage does not align with the expectations of the American people for their leadership. Yet, an alternate narrative comes from another prominent figure, House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana. House Speaker Johnson argues that the Republicans in the House are indeed fulfilling their part dutifully. Last May, they passed a bill focused on increasing border security, which unfortunately found no traction in the Senate which is currently Democrat-majority. Further boosting his opposition, Johnson, along with other senior Republicans, rejected a bipartisan Senate bill that linked Ukrainian, Israeli, and Taiwanese aid with border security. They found the bill unfulfilling, lacking in its efforts to address the southern border issue, as it is regarded by these lawmakers. Speaker Johnson claimed that Mayorkas has consistently shown disregard towards the enforcement of federal immigration laws and has misled Congress about the state of affairs at the US Southern Border. His assertion is based on what he perceives as a repeated pattern of oversight violations and dishonesty on the part of Secretary Mayorkas. Johnson's sharp criticisms further emphasize that Secretary Mayorkas has intentionally and repeatedly disproved compliance with federal immigration laws. Such behavior, he added, has contributed to the 'worst border catastrophe in American history', eroding public trust. In Johnson's view, Secretary Mayorkas has not only misled Congress with multiple inaccurate statements but also obstructed any legitimate oversight of Department of Homeland Security, violating his oath of office in the process. Johnson believes that all these actions correspond well to justify impeaching Mayorkas. Concluding his statement, Johnson assertively stated that Mayorkas 'deserves to be impeached' and Congress holds 'a constitutional obligation to do so.' These are powerful words echoing deep concern over the state of the border and the perceived inaction from various levels of government. Unsurprisingly, the stance of the DHS's spokesperson Mia Ehrenberg is more in line with President Biden's. Ehrenberg accuses House Republicans of exploiting the Constitution for political gain rather than focusing on the very real issues facing the security of our border. Ehrenberg further asserts that while top Senators from both the Republican and Democratic parties were working together with Secretary Mayorkas on bipartisan solutions for strengthening border security, House Republicans wasted time with what she calls an 'unconstitutional' impeachment, affirming the continued commitment of the Department of Homeland Security to protect Americans every day. This Day in Legal History: The Passing of the 13th AmendmentOn January 31, 1865, a pivotal moment in American legal history unfolded as Congress passed the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, marking a significant turning point in the nation's journey towards equality and justice. This landmark amendment, which formally abolished slavery in the United States, came as a culmination of years of struggle and civil war, reflecting a profound shift in the national consciousness. Its passage symbolized not just the end of an inhumane practice, but also the beginning of a new era of legal and social reform. The 13th Amendment's journey through Congress was fraught with political challenges, showcasing the deep divisions within the country at the time. It was an extension of President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation of 1863, which had declared slaves in Confederate states to be free. However, the Proclamation itself did not end slavery nationwide, which necessitated a constitutional amendment. The Amendment's language was clear and unequivocal: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." This wording ensured that slavery was not merely suspended or mitigated but utterly dismantled in a legal sense. The passage of the 13th Amendment was a complex legal achievement, requiring a two-thirds majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, followed by ratification by three-fourths of the states. Its adoption signified a legal recognition of the inalienable rights of a significant portion of the American population, who had been denied freedom and dignity for centuries.Importantly, the 13th Amendment laid the groundwork for further advancements in civil rights. It was followed by the 14th and 15th Amendments, which granted citizenship and voting rights to former slaves, respectively. These Reconstruction Amendments collectively aimed to redefine the landscape of American civil liberties and the legal status of African Americans. In retrospect, the passage of the 13th Amendment on January 31, 1865, stands as a testament to the enduring struggle for human rights and the ongoing evolution of legal principles in the United States. It reminds us that legal frameworks are not static but are capable of transformation, often in response to the demands of justice and equality. In a landmark decision, Delaware Chancery Court Chief Judge Kathaleen St. J. McCormick ruled against Elon Musk's $55 billion compensation package from Tesla, which had been challenged by a Tesla investor as excessive and inadequately justified. This ruling, coming after about a year of deliberation, highlighted the extraordinary scale of the pay deal, noting it was 250 times larger than that of median CEO peers and over 33 times greater than Musk's 2012 compensation, calling it "an unfathomable sum" and "historically unprecedented."The judge criticized the process Tesla used to approve the package, pointing out conflicts of interest among board members. These members, including Tesla's former General Counsel and friends of Musk, were deemed "beholden" to him, leading to a lack of meaningful negotiation. This raised questions about the fairness and necessity of the compensation plan, especially given Musk's significant ownership stake in Tesla and his stated commitment to the company's success.Furthermore, McCormick scrutinized Musk's motivations, highlighting his intention to use the compensation to fund his Mars colonization ambitions through SpaceX. Musk views this endeavor as a moral obligation and a means to protect humanity from potential threats posed by artificial intelligence. However, the judge questioned the necessity of such a large compensation package for retaining Musk and achieving Tesla's goals. The judge's decision also delves into the concept of Musk's control over Tesla, referencing cultural touchstones like Star Trek and Shakespeare's Henry V to illustrate the extent of his influence. She concluded that Musk's control and the cooperative nature of the board rendered the process leading to his pay deal "deeply flawed."In her closing remarks, Judge McCormick sympathized with Musk's legal team for their challenging task of defending the fairness of the largest potential compensation plan in public market history. Ultimately, she likened the flawed justification of Musk's pay package to a defective car design, requiring a "recall" and granting the investor's request for rescission.Musk Judge Says ‘Unfathomable' Deal Made Tesla CEO Overpaid (1)Judge voids Elon Musk's 'unfathomable' $56 billion Tesla pay package | ReutersA Republican-led panel has approved plans to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, setting the stage for a historic House vote that could make Mayorkas the first Cabinet secretary impeached in nearly 150 years. The decision, advanced 18-15 along party lines by the Homeland Security Committee, is seen as the GOP's most significant political action against President Joe Biden's administration, especially with border security being a critical issue in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.Republicans, led by Committee Chairman Mark Green, accuse Mayorkas of failing to enforce U.S. immigration laws and compromising public trust, particularly in handling the record-high migrant encounters at the U.S.-Mexico border. Despite this, the effort is expected to fail in the Senate, even with some Republican senators expressing concerns that targeting Mayorkas won't address border problems.Democrats counter these accusations, arguing that the impeachment proceedings are a retaliatory measure and that Mayorkas' actions do not meet the constitutional standard for "high crimes and misdemeanors." The markup session witnessed heated exchanges and procedural objections, reflecting deep partisan divides.Meanwhile, a group of Senate Republicans is working on a bipartisan deal to update immigration laws, contrasting with the House GOP's impeachment bid. This Senate effort, already criticized by leading House Republicans, proposes changes like narrowing asylum access and granting the president broader powers in immigration matters.Mayorkas has defended his record, emphasizing efforts to enforce border policies while maintaining a "tough but humane" approach. His response was criticized by Green as lacking seriousness regarding his responsibilities. The move to impeach Mayorkas has gained momentum rapidly over the past month, with House Speaker Mike Johnson pledging a swift floor vote and GOP leaders actively whipping votes for it.GOP Barrels Toward Impeaching Mayorkas as Democrats Cry Foul (1)Republican US House panel advances impeachment charges against border chief | ReutersAt a U.S. Senate hearing, leaders of major social media platforms, including Meta Platforms Inc., X, Snap Inc., Discord Inc., and TikTok, faced intense scrutiny from lawmakers regarding child online safety. The Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by Senator Dick Durbin, called these executives to Washington to address concerns over the spread of child sexual abuse material online and the impact of social media on young people's mental health. The hearing began with powerful testimonies from victims of online sexual exploitation on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Discord.Senator Lindsey Graham criticized Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, accusing him of having "blood on his hands" due to a case of child sexual exploitation linked to his platforms. The hearing aimed to propel legislation targeting online child sexual exploitation, with lawmakers from both parties expressing frustration over the tech industry's slow response to growing accusations. These accusations include allowing underage users on their sites and ignoring the potential harms to teens' mental health.Zuckerberg, facing Congress again, pledged Meta's cooperation in making platforms safer for teenagers, highlighting the company's efforts in deploying tools like parental controls and privacy setting reviews. However, he faced tough questions over his 2021 decision to reject expanding teams overseeing child safety. In contrast, CEOs Linda Yaccarino of X, Evan Spiegel of Snap, Jason Citron of Discord, and Shou Chew of TikTok, some of whom were testifying for the first time, planned to defend their companies' practices in detecting and removing harmful content. The hearing underscored the urgent need for legislative action to safeguard children online, amidst ongoing debates over user privacy and the effectiveness of proposed measures. Lawmakers like Senators Marsha Blackburn and Richard Blumenthal championed a bill to legally require tech companies to protect children from harmful content, reflecting a bipartisan push for stricter regulation of social media platforms.Meta, X, TikTok CEOs Face Senate on Protecting Kids Online (1) Get full access to Minimum Competence - Daily Legal News Podcast at www.minimumcomp.com/subscribe

It's Hump Day! Sam speaks with Alex Press, staff writer at Jacobin, to discuss her recent piece entitled "In 2023, the US Working Class Fought Back." Then, they speak with Bill McKibben, contributing writer at The New Yorker and founder of ThirdAct.org, to discuss how 2023 was the hottest year on record. First, Sam runs through updates on Israel's direct statements of ethnic cleansing in front of Secretary Blinken, Trump's attempted immunity case, tonight's GOP debate, the government shutdown, Mayorkas' potential impeachment, labor action, and free lunch, before listening to Trump's attorney's desperation in the face of literally any line of actual legal questioning. Alex Press then joins, diving right into the numbers behind 2023's labor boom which saw some 500k workers striking – doubling 2022's numbers (which doubled those of 2021) – with a particular boom in action in the union-sparse private sector. After walking through the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on inspiring this post-crisis wave of labor action, Press steps back to explore the massive influence of the Chicago Teachers Union strike on the evolution of the US labor world, alongside movements like Occupy, Bernie Sanders' 2016 campaign, and the 2020 uprisings, in shaping the current organizing movement. Next, Alex and Sam touch on the incredible moves made by the NLRB in 2023 – including Card Check lite – and what they'd like to see from the board moving forward, before wrapping up with her expectations on major strikes (and the influence of Shawn Fain's UAW) heading into 2024. Then, Bill McKibben and Sam tackle the complete silence following 2023's record-setting heat numbers, the overwhelming influence of “climate delayers” in US politics, and the fossil fuel industry's 8-figure ad campaign to keep the US population on their side. After briefly expanding on the growth of both renewable energy and the extreme impacts of climate change in 2023, McKibben dives into the massive growth of US oil production and natural gas, the greenhouse explosion it has been causing, and the pressing need for Biden to make choices beyond the important changes in 2022's Inflation Reduction Act. Wrapping up, Bill emphasizes the threat of growing US industry and the influence of Big Oil heading into 2024. And in the Fun Half: Sam watches as Blinken continues to bend the knee to Israel on the world stage, Gideon Levy unpacks the horrors Israel is currently inflicting on Gaza, and Tim Pool goes to bat for Boeing and the private plane industry as they remain under threat by DEI. Who is responsible for the illegal immigration crisis at America's southern border? That's a question currently being investigated by the House Homeland Security Committee, and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is atop the list.“I think very clearly, Secretary Mayorkas has chosen to totally disregard the laws passed by Congress,” says Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., and chairman of the committee.Asked whether Congress will take steps to impeach Mayorkas, Green told The Daily Signal, he would “continue to hold the cards to my chest.”In June, Green announced a five-part investigation into the “Biden-Mayorkas border crisis.” The investigation is a response to the estimated more than 6 million illegal aliens who have been encountered on the southern border since the start of the Biden administration in January 2021.The first three phases of the investigation of the border crisis have included Mayorkas' alleged dereliction of duty; how the border crisis facilitates the illegal activities of drug cartels; and examining the human cost of the border crisis.Green joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to preview the fourth stage of the investigation, which begins with a Wednesday hearing and will examine the financial cost of the border crisis. This week's episode of Parsing Immigration Policy examines two recent immigration-related Supreme Court opinions and delves into the implications of those rulings for immigration law enforcement, public safety, and the role of Congress in shaping immigration policy.Andrew Arthur, the Center's fellow in law and policy, and Hans von Spakovsky, senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation, start the discussion with an analysis of U.S. v. Texas. In Texas, the Court held that the states of Texas and Louisiana lacked standing to challenge the immigration-enforcement “guidelines”, issued by DHS Secretary Alejandro, that limit ICE officers ability to detain criminal aliens. Notably, the majority did not even review the district and circuit court findings that Mayorkas' guidelines would mean more criminal aliens would be released onto the streets, imposing significant costs on the states. Now that the justices have held that the states lack standing to challenge the Biden administration's non-enforcement policies, will Congress use the weapons of inter-branch warfare – the power of the purse, impeachment, and legislation – to force the executive to comply with federal statutes mandating that aliens convicted of specific crimes be detained and deported? In the second case, U.S. v. Hansen, the justices held that a provision of the Immigration and Nationality Act making it a crime to encourage or induce an alien to enter the United States illegally is not “overbroad” in that it prohibits free speech under the First Amendment. The defendant in that case had scammed aliens out of nearly $2 million by promising them he could obtain citizenship for them through “adult adoption”—a pathway to status that does not exist in the law. Hansen argued that the law was overly broad, but the Court disagreed. The public and Congress are very divided on the issue of illegal immigration, so congressional action seems unlikely. But Arthur says, “the Texas v. U.S. case is a prime example of the Court being tired of being pulled into cases.” Yet in a final discussion on the prospects for a separate case captioned Texas v. U.S., in which the states allege that the Obama-era DACA program is illegal, both Arthur and von Spakovsky predict it will head to SCOTUS.In the closing commentary, Mark Krikorian, the Center's executive director and the host of Parsing Immigration Policy, highlights Florida's tough new immigration law, which went into effect July 1 and focuses on making it more difficult for illegal aliens to work in the state – thus weakening one of the main drivers of illegal immigration.HostMark Krikorian is the Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies.GuestsHans von Spakovsky is the Senior Legal Fellow at the Heritage FoundationAndrew Arthur is the Fellow of Law and Policy at the Center for Immigration Studies.RelatedSCOTUS: States Can't Stop the Admin from Protecting Dangerous Criminal AliensSupreme Court Declares DHS Can Ignore Congressional Enforcement MandatesDeSantis Rolls Out His Immigration Campaign WebsiteFollowFollow Parsing Immigration Policy on Ricochet, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts.Intro MontageVoices in the opening montage:Sen. An estimated 13,000 illegal aliens are expected to cross America's southern border every day beginning Thursday. That's more than double the daily average in March. This expected spike in the number of migrants crossing the border illegally is the direct result of the end of Title 42, a public health measure set in place under the Trump administration during the COVID-19 pandemic. Title 42 has allowed Border Patrol to quickly expel some illegal aliens from the country. Without the measure, Border Patrol has little power under the policies of the Biden administration to turn illegal aliens away. With illegal alien encounters expected to rise with the end of Title 42, the Biden administration has announced a new asylum rule effective once Title 42 expires. The new rule requires illegal aliens to first seek asylum in another country they travel through and be denied before they seek asylum in the U.S. “If individuals do not access their lawful pathways, the pathways that we have made available to them, they will face a rebuttable presumption, but a presumption of ineligibility,” DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said of the new rule during a press conference Wednesday. Mayorkas' reference to “lawful pathways” includes use of the CBP One mobile app, which allows illegal aliens to schedule an appointment at a port of entry to seek asylum. But Biden's new rule is already drawing criticism. “The asylum rule simply directs everyone towards using the made-up, illegal mass parole programs that the Biden Administration erroneously labels 'lawful pathways' by using the CBP One mobile app to get a parole appointment at an interior airport,” Simon Hankinson, a senior research fellow in The Heritage Foundation's Border Security and Immigration Center, told The Daily Signal. (The Daily Signal is the news outlet of The Daily Signal.) “In the long run,” Hankinson continued, “this won't discourage anyone. Those who can use the parole app process will, those who can't will just come anyway and cross illegally. The best we can hope for is that the new asylum rule reduces flows about as much as Title 42 did, and things remain status quo – a poorly managed disaster.” Lora Ries, director of the Border Security and Immigration Center at The Heritage Foundation, joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to explain what the end of Title 42 means for the security of America's border, and why Biden's new asylum rule won't solve the current crisis. Mayorkas Texas Republican Rep. Pat Fallon has filed impeachment articles against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, delivering on a promise he made last week before the 118th Congress was officially sworn in. The articles of impeachment against Mayorkas for "high crimes and misdemeanors," known as House Resolution 8, were introduced by Fallon in the House on Monday and have been referred to the House Judiciary Committee. Last week, Fallon vowed to file impeachment articles against Mayorkas after the Congress was sworn in. The effort from Republicans in the House is one of many that the new GOP majority will take as it works to fight the Biden administration on issues related to immigration and the southern border crisis. While there is currently no text available for the impeachment articles filed against Mayorkas, Fox News reported last week that Fallon's first article alleges that Mayorkas has failed to faithfully execute the "Secure the Fence Act of 2006." The article says that law requires the secretary of Homeland Security to "maintain operational control over the entire international land and maritime borders of the United States." The second article alleges that Mayorkas, "in violation of his constitutional oath, willfully provided perjurious, false, and misleading testimony to Congress." To back up that charge, the article quotes Mayorkas' testimony during April 26 and Nov. 15 congressional hearings in which he said the border was secure. The final of the three articles charges that Mayorkas "publicly and falsely slandered" border agents who were accused – but later cleared – of whipping Haitian migrants in Del Rio, Texas, in 2021. Mayorkas on Sunday said he will not resign over his handling of the border crisis and insisted he will be ready for future investigations by House Republicans while continuing to fulfill his daily responsibilities. https://dailycaller.com/2023/01/10/kevin-mccarthy-adam-schiff-eric-swalwell-ilhan-omar-committees/ Reps. In February, McCarthy told the Daily Caller that if he is elected Speaker that he intends to strip Omar from the Foreign Affairs Committee and Swalwell and Schiff from the Intelligence Committee. On Monday, McCarthy confirmed to The Associated Press (AP) that he would be moving forward with that decision, saying both Swalwell and Schiff should not have seats on the committee. McCarthy has said Swalwell’s reported relationship with a Chinese spy and Schiff’s defense of the Steele dossier are some of the reasons they should be removed from the committee. McCarthy has said Omar’s anti-Semitism is a reason she should be removed from Foreign Affairs. “Swalwell can’t get a security clearance in the private sector. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is facing the threat of impeachment should Republicans reclaim control of the U.S. House. An unprecedented border crisis and its ravaging effects prompted 133 House Republicans to write to Mayorkas on Monday, citing "grave questions" about his "suitability for office."Only once in U.S. history has the House impeached a Cabinet official; Secretary of War William Belknap was later acquitted by the Senate in 1876. Now, nearly 150 years later, pressure is building on Mayorkas.Mark Morgan, acting commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection in the Trump administration, says the the problem on our southern border is about to get much worse. He joins "The Daily Signal Podcast" to explain what's happening and why it matters to every American. That's one reason he supports Mayorkas' impeachment. "He's turning a blind eye. He has failed the United States. He has failed this country, so he should be impeached," Morgan tells The Daily Signal.Morgan, who previously served as chief of U.S. Border Patrol in the Obama administration and was acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, is currently a visiting fellow at The Heritage Foundation (publisher of The Daily Signal).Read the lightly edited transcript, listen, or watch the interview at DailySignal.com. BIDEN ADMIN NOT DEPORTING CONVICTED FELON ILLEGALShttps://gorightnews.com/biden-admin-not-deporting-convicted-felon-illegals/https://www.spreaker.com/user/9922149/biden-admin-not-deporting-convicted-feloOne of the many ways the Biden regime has systematically eroded the rule of law in the United States is by refusing to deport illegal immigrants convicted of felony crimes. And the Republican National Committee (RNC) is speaking up to draw attention to the issue. The RNC slammed the Biden regime, specifically targeting his Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, saying:"Because of his orders, ICE has been forced to cancel deportation requests for many illegal immigrants who pleaded guilty to felony charges of evading arrest or had convictions for drunken driving, drug possession or domestic assault injuring a family member."Back up: In September 2021, Mayorkas and the Biden regime issued new guidelines for ICE and CBP to de-prioritize the removal of illegal immigrants who commit "less severe" crimes. Examples: The RNC cited three specific examples, originally published in the Washington Times.Heriberto Fuerte-Padilla was driving drunk in 2020 and crashed into a Texas teenager, killing her. He tried to flee the scene of the crime but the police caught him. Padilla was originally going to be deported, but due to Mayorkas' policy shift, his deportation was stopped. Jose Godoy Vasquez has a number of convictions including drunk driving, drug possession, and domestic violence. ICE canceled his detainer due to the regime's new priorities.Nay Thar was convicted of drug possession, drunk driving, fleeing the police, and sneaking contraband into a prison. Records indicate he was released from jail this month. The result: ICE agents say deportations under Biden are at record lows. And lately, they serve as more of a "travel agency" for illegals than an enforcement agency.[Source: Post Millennial, Waking Up Right Newsletter]
Congressman Andy Biggs (R-AZ) discusses filing for articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas. Rep. Biggs criticizes Mayorkas' failure to do his sole duty to secure the border. In addition to his failure to act, he has actively worsened the border crisis by taking steps to prevent local law enforcement 'from working and cooperating with ICE,' and is compounding the current health crisis by dismissing the fact that 20% of illegal migrants being released into the country have COVID. It is all about getting millions of additional Democrat votes! As more information comes out about Democrat voter fraud, as more states pass new election laws making it harder to cheat at the ballot box, and as more and more minorities leave the Democrat Party, they have to find a new way to get votes — or they lose power, maybe permanently. So once again, the best way the Democrats can think of to do this is to cheat some more by slipping a provision into the Budget Reconciliation Bill which would grant amnesty to illegals. This way, they can do it without having to have any Republican votes!Since we keep being told we need to “follow the science”, Louis Avallone and Stephen Parr want us to start following the science regarding the amount of carbon dioxide we breathe in by wearing these “COVID” face masks (as reported by a "JAMA Pediatrics" article banned by Facebook). And in Britain, the scientific data shows there are fewer hospitalizations and deaths from the Delta variant of COVID. What about that scientific data? Can we quit having our elected officials bullying us over all of this now?Our American Mamas, Teri Netterville and Denise Arthur, believe Country Music is by the Brave and for the Patriotic! It definitely is not going to make the “politically correct” happy; but even if you live in a big city, if you love the American Flag and the National Anthem, then there will be some “good ‘ole Country” you will like, too. There are a number of very troubling issues regarding the current protests in Cuba and what the Biden Administration is either saying or not saying. Louis Avallone and Stephen Parr discuss in depth the issues involved, both the silence from President Biden denouncing Communism and the now hostile positions coming from the current Secretary of State, Cuban born Alejandro Mayorkas. What is so astonishing about Mayorkas' statements are that he is the son of Cuban Jews who somehow got from Cuba to Florida in 1960, when he was one year old. Clearly Cuban refugees don't walk across the Straits of Florida, would it not be reasonable to believe he probably came to Florida BY BOAT?Our Constitutional Rights are our RIGHTS, even though there are some which are delayed because they are not appropriate for children to handle. However, by the age of 18, the United States has decided people are of appropriate age to vote and to serve in the US Military. Until now, however, even people in the military could not own weapons. But that is now changed. A 3-judge panel of the 4th Circuit of Appeals has ruled 18-year olds can purchase handguns. The ruling is in conflict with a 5th Circuit ruling in 2012, and the Biden DOJ doesn't like it, so it is likely going to be further appealed.
Good morning, it's Thursday, April 1st and this is The Herald Review's podcast, the Daily Chirp. We're excited to bring you a closer look at top stories, events in the community, local history, sports, and more. Today - Sheriff Mark Dannels and several others, have been dismissed from the Homeland Security Advisory Council. The announcement came one week after Dannel's publicly expressed concern over the Biden administration's policies regarding undocumented migrants coming into the U.S. through Mexico. - Before we begin, some local history. The Garden Canyon Service Station stood on Fry Boulevard. In 1943, the Service Station supplied full-service to its customers offering gasoline at 20 cents per gallon. Station attendants filled the gas tank while washing your windshield and checking the tire pressure without charge. The Station has a colorful history, and they hope that everyone will attend the dedication to hear some entertaining stories about its existence. Just about 10 years ago The Sierra Vista Historical Society dedicated a new historical plaque for the Station. Now, our feature story. Sheriff Mark Dannels, along with several other individuals, has been dismissed from the Homeland Security Advisory Council. The Council is a bipartisan panel that was put in place by the Obama and Trump administrations. The “pink slip” to Dannels and about 29 other members was a letter dated March 26 from Alejandro Mayorkas, the new secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. In a letter, Mayorkas noted that he looks forward to working with everyone in the future, whether as a member of a redesigned Council, or in a different capacity. Dannels discussed the event with Fox News earlier this week: After the announcement was made, the Washington Post reported that Former Department of Homeland Security officials said they couldn't remember a time when so many members were dismissed at once. The general practice of past administrations was to allow appointees to serve out their terms. Dannels and others who sat on the HSAC have been critical of the Biden administration and its policies regarding undocumented migrants coming into the U.S. through Mexico. Just a week before Mayorkas sent out the letter, Dannels had participated in a press conference at the border in Douglas that included Gov. Doug Ducey and Sen. Rick Scott. Both Ducey and Scott noted Biden and Mayorkas are out of touch with what's happening on the Southwest border. Now, Dannels plans to send a letter to Mayorkas. The sheriff said he and other border sheriffs have had a good relationship with the Department of Homeland Security and it was disappointing to see Mayorkas' lack of engagement with that group. The sheriff is also encouraging Mayorkas to reconsider the dismantling of the HSAC, and to begin communicating with border sheriffs.
