As the Israeli war machine is in full motion, the position of the West lays bare the hollowness of its claims to observe international law. With every US-manufactured bomb dropped on Gaza, the vacuousness of its liberal world order is exposed to Muslims and the world. Yet what can we do about this situation? Lately, many governments have queued up to sign the so-called Abraham Accords with the apartheid state, and it has been concluded that the Arabs no longer care for the Palestinian cause. Today, we get a real feel for the ‘Arab street' and what Palestine means to Muslims in the region. Our guest this episode is Dr. Tareq Suwaidan. He is the CEO and owner of Gulf Innovation Group in Kuwait and was the General Manager of Al-Resalah Satellite TV - ranked among the highest in the Middle East.He holds a PhD from the University of Oklahoma and lived in the United States for 20 years.Dr. Tareq Suwaidan is recognised as one of the most popular Islamic speakers in the Arab world and was named among the 500 Most Influential Muslims in 2022. How can we argue in good faith? How can we communicate with confidence? How can we uncover new ideas through the art of debate? Journalist, broadcaster, and best-selling author Mehdi Hasan has made a career out of doing just that. Named one of the 100 'most influential' Britons on Twitter, and included in the annual global list of 'The 500 Most Influential Muslims' in the world, Hasan has become a bit an expert on deconstructing arguments and nudged disagreements toward mutual understanding. His book, "Win Every Argument," seeks to sharpen those skills among its readers, and relay the intrinsic value—and pleasure–of debate. John Donvan sits down with Hasan to go over the tricks of the trade, and examining methods of rooting out truths through argument.  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The greater Middle East region has been going through various trials and tribulations over the last decade, with different axes of power forming within. Those poles of influence are homegrown – but they also connect to external ones, far beyond the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), which brings about an interesting set of geopolitical realities for the region. Against the backdrop of increasing pressures on the international system, how does the geopolitical order look from within MENA? What considerations are on the minds of power brokers in the region? What might the future look like? In his intervention, Dr Hisham Hellyer addresses these questions. About the Speaker: Dr Hisham (H.A.) Hellyer FRSA is a scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP) and a fellow of the Centre for Islamic Studies at the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at The University of Cambridge. Concurrently, he is a Senior Associate Fellow in International Security Studies at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in London. Dr Hellyer is regularly included in the scholarly section of the annual global list of ‘The 500 Most Influential Muslims' in the world. Following the 2005 London bombings, Dr Hellyer was appointed as Deputy Convenor of the UK Government's Taskforce as an independent academic expert, and served as the Foreign & Commonwealth Office's first Economic and Social Research Council Fellow, as a non-partisan independent scholar. In 2020, Dr Hellyer was elected as Fellow (FRSA) of the Royal Society of Arts in London due to his contributions to his subject areas, particularly in the international relations of the West and the Middle East, security studies, and belief.

Soul-Full Reflections on Community with Ilyasah Shabazz and Suhaib Webb This past Ramadan, At Your Service had the honor of hosting a series of Virtual Iftars (dinners to break our fast). To really hone in on impact for these events, we tapped into some incredible leaders to guide us through themed conversations around intention and community. This truly was one of my favorite events I've ever been to, let alone hosted. When you're in the Month of Ramadan, feeling all your feelings, and you receive blessings in the form of gems, with your community all together Live, there's really nothing like it. Last week we dropped a conversation with Bilqis Abdul-Qaadir and Iddris Sandu. THIS WEEK, we have the honor of revisiting a conversation between the esteemed Ilyasah Shabazz and Suhaib Webb. Professor Ilyasah Shabazz promotes higher education for at-risk youth, interfaith dialogue to build bridges between cultures for young leaders of the world, and she participates in international humanitarian delegations. She served as a member of the U.S. Delegation that accompanied President Bill Clinton to South Africa to commemorate the election of President Nelson Mandela and the Education & Economic Development initiatives. While she is frequently asked to speak about the Legacy of Malcolm X, she shares that it is her mother, Dr. Betty Shabazz's wisdom, courage and compassion that guide her. Suhaib Webb is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Public Service of NYU's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. He has a degree in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma, and in Islamic law from al-Azhar Universiy in Cairo. He was named as a "Faith Leader to Watch" by The Center for American Progress in 2016, selected by the Muslim Community as one of CNN's 25 Most Influential Leaders; as well as one of "Five Hundred of the Most Influential Muslims" by the Royal Islamic Studies Center in 2017. He is also currently the resident scholar at the ICNYU. And PS, he married Adam and I at our wedding :) This conversation between Ilyasah Shabazz and Suhaib Webb on community and being there for yourself in order to be there for others just CLICKED. I'm currently reading the Autobiography of Malcolm X and listening to this episode again and it couldn't be more timely. I hope you enjoy! PS, In case you missed it last week, we played back another conversation from this event series, with Bilqis Abdul-Qaadir and Iddris Sandu. ays xx Our sponsors, but more like friends, at Ahmad Tea helped us put so much intention into these events, and we could not be more grateful to have them as partners. www.ahmadteausa.com instagram.com/ahmadtea_usa I hope you enjoy this episode, as much as I enjoyed hosting these lovely souls. _____ If you have any feedback, PLEASE leave a review of PODCAST NOOR. She shares how her desire to give back evolved into exploring how not to repeat the past, and the need to do things differently, ultimately leading to a decisive shift on her path from managing and resolving conflict to preventing it. Hear her deep insight into the feminine, as we discuss how the integrated heart space is where the key to peace lies. Peacebuilding starts from within. When we listen to others from the heart instead of from fear we begin to break down resistance to trust that allows us to build healthy community. Assalamualaikum, sahabat. ========== Jejaring sosial: Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/sowan Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sobih.adnan Twitter: https://twitter.com/SobihAdnan Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sobihadnan/

Scrutiny of Australia's Muslim community has only increased in recent years. Australian women who wear Islamic head coverings have been subject toharassment, but we’ve seen the spontaneous solidarity of #illridewithyou in the wake of the Lindt Café siege. For Muslim women, episodes of community concern about their rights sit alongside racist stereotyping. Listen to Muslim women discuss their own priorities: how to fight sexism within Islamic communities; what happens when Islamophobia meets everyday sexism; and how society reacts to Muslim women taking their place in public life. Randa Abdel-Fattah is a Muslim of Palestinian and Egyptian heritage. She is a writer, passionate human rights advocate, and a spokesperson on issues relating to Palestine, Islam or Australian Muslims. Her articles have been published in The Australian, The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald and Le Monde (France). Susan Carland is a PhD candidate at Monash University, where she is researching the way Muslim women fight sexism within the Muslim community.
