It wasn't long after that Miguel applied for a job, was hired, and worked at the Bloomingdale location. Running the register, helping customers, and putting away product was a regular part of the job. But Miguel saw other opportunities at Tower. He became a Supervisor and helped out on some “A-Team” projects opening stores around the country. When the position of North Central Events Coordinator opened up, he applied and got the job where he worked for Robert Stapleton, Phil Myers, and Bill Duffy. And despite his heavy Tower Records workload, Miguel also found the time to run a very popular area nightclub on weekends. Join us for a fun, quick conversation with Miguel Ortuno

Reliable data on pastor-readers is harder to come by, but a 2013 Barna study found that pastors bought 3.8 books a month. If pastors read what they buy, they read about a book a week. In this episode of the Influence Podcast, I'm talking with pastor-reader Heather Weber about why pastors should read, as well as how often and what they should read. I'm George P. To celebrate the 25th Episode of the HR Uprising Lucinda is proud to welcome a member of the ‘Twitterati': HR Practitioner, influencer, author and speaker from the US: Steve Browne.     Steve has had almost 30 years of experience in HR and is absolutely passionate about the power of being ‘people-centric' as an HR professional. He shares personal anecdotes and stories from his best-selling business book ‘HR on Purpose' and gives an insight into what drives his passion for the profession.    One of Steve's natural talents is collaboration and building networks and we explore the differences in networking styles on each side of the ‘pond' and feel encouraged to reach out and encourage others to be part of the #HRUprising.   Despite his huge social media presence, Steve is the epitome of humility and ‘Keeping it Real'. We hope you enjoy our ‘Silver Jubilee Episode' with Steve Browne. Don't forget to link in and connect with him and the rest of the HR network out there, it is a great place to learn and grow.  KEY TAKEAWAYS  It's obvious, but we must always remember that if we help the team thrive and grow, we help the business grow..  We should stop thinking that the only way of having a voice in the organisation is by climbing the ladder. We all have a voice, let's use it.  HR on Purpose is about being Strategic – it is about being the Chess player rather than the Checkers player. It is also about understanding the business requirements while at all times being human.  Go out of your way to encourage others, when we do that, we also fill ourselves up  Make time to network – even if on a small scale, remember to be genuine, always follow through and connect people with a purpose.  Brits are a bit more reserved on social media than the US but that doesn't mean we can't encourage each other.  Always be courageous and brave in what you're doing.  BEST MOMENTS  “I'd like to see HR embrace who they are, own who they are, and show people how wonderful is it as a field.”  “You do what you can instead of worrying what you can't do.”   “Every person you meet is different. Everybody has different life experiences, different backgrounds. You can't just be one flavour to everybody.”  “A strategic person needs to get all the aspects of people.”  VALUABLE RESOURCES  HR on Purpose: Developing Deliberate People Passion by Steve Browne - https://www.Amazon.com/HR-Purpose-Developing-Deliberate-Passion-ebook/dp/B071WMPVLB   Join the HR Uprising Linked In Group here: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/13714397/  https://hruprising.com   You can access additional free HR Resources via the Actus Software website link below. It's a new beginning for the podcast - Season 8 starts today! Matt and Erin have a bit of random conversation at the beginning like usual. But they eventually provide a summary of the recent new of an organophosphate, chlorpyrifos. The EPA has been dealing with a petition to revoke tolerances for this widely-used insecticide. The EPA will not move forward with restricting chlorpyrifos in any crop; this could be important as farmers make product choices for 2017. Erin wrote a recent ICM Blog about it. Matt shared updates about his recent travels to the S1055 Soybean Entomology Working Group meeting in Memphis where he compares soybean production in the North Central Region to the South. Surprise - it's a lot different! Erin wraps up by providing overwintering mortality predictions for bean leaf beetle. The 2016-2017 winter was moderate and about half of the beetles are expected to survive. Read more in her recent ICM News article.  Bean leaf beetle adult. Photo by Winston Beck, ISU.

Joining Bob Dale tonight is Colin Ganley of CigarTourism.com and European Cigar Journal Cigar of the Week is The Crown Jewel Premium Boutique Cigar - Specially created by Master Cuban Blenders whose tradition and history date back to the early 1900’s. Our product has been uniquely blended utilizing only the finest and rarest leaves to include; a Silky Rich Ecuadorian Sun Grown Wrapper, an exclusive specially cultivated Dominican “Piloto Cubano” 5 year aged long leaf tobacco from the North Central Region of the Cibao Valley precisely blended with, a sweet selected Peruvian tobacco from the San Martin region of the Northern Amazon. The final product is then hand rolled by a select few of skilled Master Cuban Rollers. http://www.crownjewelcigars.com/ Herf lines from Adam Estrem and Angry Bill This week's Dark Side - Dale and Colin review the Cohiba Lancero. Cohiba is the flagship line of Habanos SA. Cohiba accountesd for 8.1% of the exports in 2001. Paying prices with 30% to 50% premium over other Habanaos has never resulted in a shortage of customers for Cohiba. Cohioba is the only Habanos cigar where the tobacco undergoes a third fermentation with the seco and ligero being cured for 18 months in cedar barrels. Altough smokable after 3 years, it is recommended to have at least 5 years of additional ageing before they reach their full promise. What else have you been smokin' Dale?- 1997 Cusano Corojo - Guantanamera 310 - Liga Privada T52 toro - Viaje TNT - Oliva Serie V Lancero - What Else you been smoking Colin? Square pressed Epernay, Rocky Patel 15th Anniversary, Plasencia Reserva Organica What else have you been smokin' Bob? - Torano Copper - Wonderfully smooth smoke with lots of subtle flavors, savory leather, slight mild chocolate flavor. Pre smoke aroma is barnyard with a hint of cedar. Smooth well aged tobaccos. Kristoff Sumatra - Although it is not a bad smoke, it does exhibit some nuances of youth, the binder burns very black which could indicate a short fermetation period and the flavors just dont really come together like in the Torano. Gurhka Assasin - A dark devilish smoke with very smoky flavors of wood and leather. A heavy smoke with lots of body and a hidden strength. This cigar is a bit stealthy in its pure strength but the flavor is consistent throughout. Not for the mild smoker. Whats My Band - #922 - Camacho Corojo Colin - easy draw, thick wrapper burns uneven but smokes nicely, so good! I can't see it but it tastes great. chocolaty, spicy cedar, nicely complex and balanced, reminds me of a multi-country blend, well aged/fermented wrapper. Robusto. little dry. Bob-Pre smoke aroma is distinctive barnyard. Very promising. Easy draw. Much lighter than expected smoke from a very dark cigar. Very astringent retrohale. But I never got any flavor from the cigar. In my book it was a complete bust.
