Paul-Daniel Paul-Enenche, the youngest biological child (and only son) of Drs./Sr. Pastors Paul and Becky Paul-Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre headquartered in Abuja Nigeria, graced the show to share more about himself -- growing up in the Enenche household, the values that he learned (and still upholds) today. About Paul-Daniel: He comes from a rich heritage of gospel psalmists noting in particular, Dr. Sr. Pastor Paul-Enenche who's written hundreds of songs, one of the latest: Mantles are Falling. It's no wonder that Paul Daniel is a songwriter/singer/psalmist himself having written, recorded, and released several songs such as: "Found" (written by Daniella Paul-Enenche), "Metaphor", "Contemporary-African Praise Fusion" and has appeared with his father Dr. Paul Enenche ministering several songs such as "Lord, I Come Before Your Majesty", "I Hail You". Paul-Daniel's a lover of God who enjoys being in the presence of God; a lover of music, sports, and fashion! Make sure you tune in as Paul-Daniel shares about the inspiration for the songs he's recorded and released so far; pursuing his studies in medicine and how he manages the "girl" crowd! Make sure you tune in and listen to this exclusive! Paul-Daniel also shares an inspiring word and then sings a little for the audience. It's just too good to miss oooo! A strong and harmonious collaboration between a cinematographer and a director is essential in creating visually compelling and cohesive storytelling on set. The ability to stylistically align with the director's vision is critical for achieving a unified visual language as a cinematographer. Effective communication, active listening, and a thorough understanding of the director's creative intentions are required, allowing the cinematographer to translate those ideas into compelling visual compositions, lighting schemes, and camera movements. Damian Paul Daniel, an experienced and versatile cinematographer, joins me in this episode to discuss how cinematographers can prepare for and fit stylistically with their directors on set. Damian discusses his background before entering the film industry, how he became a cinematographer, and his first on-set experience as a cinematographer. He also discusses the differences between filmmakers who attend film schools and those who do not, as well as tips for preparing as a cinematographer before going on set that will help you fit stylistically with your director. Synopsis On today's date in 1953, thousands crowded the route to and from London's Westminster Abbey for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and, at the Queen's own request, the event was televised live by the BBC. British composer William Walton was asked to write two new pieces. The first Walton's “Coronation Te Deum”, a work that he had begun almost a decade earlier for a quite different occasion, namely the opening night of the 1944 London Proms. The piece got shifted to a back-burner when Walton was asked to work on Lawrence Olivier's wartime film of Shakespeare's “Henry V.” For the new Queen's Coronation, Walton returned to his abandoned score, writing to friends, “I've got cracking on the Te Deum. Lots of counter-tenors and little boys Holy-holy-ing, not to mention all the Queen's Trumpeters and a side drum. You will like it, I think, and I hope He will too.” “He” was capitalized, so presumably Walton was referring to either the Deity -- or Winston Churchill, perhaps. Walton was also asked to compose a “Coronation March,” which he entitled “Orb and Scepter” after a line, coincidentally, from Shakespeare's “Henry V.” Walton's March may have seemed a bit jazzy to the more conservative audiences of the day, but one critic, slipping into Cockney slang, gushed, “It sounds like a right royal knees-up!” Music Played in Today's Program William Walton (1902 - 1983) – Coronation Te Deum (Andrew Lumsden, organ; Finzi Singers; Paul Spicer, cond.) Todd Becker has done everything from successful basketball coach, sales representative, and nonprofit warrior. Currently the Managing Director of Clubfoot Solutions- a nonprofit to free the world of untreated clubfoot deformity. Before that, he was in charge of Zimmers- one of the world's leading orthopedic device services where he successfully managed sales, marketing, distribution, and warehousing. He served as a regional manager for Johnson & Johnson and coached college athletics at the College of St. Ambrose and St. Francis. Forming a Coaching Style (5:41) Todd has had the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business world as well as the athletics world. One of his most important lessons: organizing everything from on-the-field coaching to off-the-field details like uniforms and scheduling. Leaving St. Ambrose for St. Francis opened up a whole different world. He also learned how to set and exceed exceptional standards from his Dad. It's not lost on Todd that his first bosses in both fields took chances on him. The medical device field was tough to break into, and Todd entered with no sales or medical background. But, looking back, one of the reasons Todd landed the position was because of the work ethic he established during his coaching career. There's a lot involved in the medical sales industry, such as terminology and hospital protocol. That dedication to putting in the work to learn gave Todd an edge over others with more experience. The Need for Good Coaching (16:20) Throughout his career, mentorship and consistent coaching have proved to be invaluable for Todd. Dennis Worth, whose son Jason Worth won a World Series with the Phillies. His hands-on coaching techniques were pivotal to teaching a young Todd how to engage with highly educated individuals like orthopedic surgeons. If you ask the right questions, those doctors will teach you more than you'll ever understand. So let them engage with you and teach you their business. From his days at J & J, he didn't feel like he had that mentorship he wanted, which led him to Zimmer. His mentor, Paul Daniel, taught him the importance of wearing different hats in management positions and how valuable transformational relationships are. If someone is willing to help you, it's essential to follow up and send a thank you. We can all do a better job at it, and it's critical to forming and maintaining both personal and professional relationships. The Ability to Have Fierce Dialogue (25:35) Frustration is part of the process, both in athletics and business. But the problem is when you express that frustration and scold them for messing up, it's easy to forget to bring them back up—but lifting them back up after is so important. Again, becoming a parent drove this concept home for both Todd and Ed because it's not just what you say but getting them to understand why you're saying it. However, if something isn't clicking with a player or an employee, it's tough, but you have to know when to let them go. As coaches, we naturally want to help, but Todd learned the importance of getting the right people on the bus and the wrong people off. VICTORY and Clubfoot Solutions (35:12) Right now, 7.5 million people are walking around with uncorrected clubfoot, and it impacts their ability to do things like function all day on their feet or even hold steady jobs. One contributing factor is that there aren't enough corrective braces available to support them through the 4-5 years of healing after surgery. Through his work, Todd's mission provides support braces to children in need to help them heal and perform the day-to-day tasks they need to succeed. Clubfoot Solution has distributed over 11K Iowa Braces around the world. The best part about working with nonprofits is that Todd can serve others over himself. Paul Daniel had been on my list of conductors I was desperate to chat with for a long time and what a joy it was to get to speak with him! Despite some connection issues between the UK and France (and I do mean the internet!) I discovered how being a chorister at Coventry Cathedral really inspired him to conduct, I heard his very candid and honest reflections on the differences between Opera North and English National Opera, and I heard his wonderful impersonation of one of the conducting greats! If you would like to know more about conductors and conducting, why not subscribe at https://www.patreon.com/amiconthepodium, and for a monthly fee starting from just £5 a month, you can access two new series of interviews, group Zoom meetings with other fans of the podcast and myself, a monthly bulletin about the podcast and my own career as well as articles, photos, videos and even conducting lessons from myself. Alternatively, if you would prefer to make a one-off donation to financially support this podcast, then go to https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/a-mic-on-the-podium and any donation you make will be greatly appreciated and help the podcast live on into the future. This interview was recorded on 3rd February 2021 via Zoom.

Kate Molleson celebrates Coventry as UK City of Culture 2021, exploring the musical life there, its rich musical history, and talking about what the future holds for Coventrians. She begins at the heart of Coventry in the ruins of the old cathedral, which was destroyed the November night in 1940 when the German Luftwaffe flattened the city centre. It is poignantly connected to the new cathedral by Basil Spence. With its consecration began a distinctive new choral tradition, particularly under music director David Lepine. Kate talks to one of the first choristers, David Sleath, who sang at the premiere of Britten's War Requiem, conductor Paul Daniel who joined the choir in the mid 60s, and organist Rachel Mahon who is the current music director. Composer Dan Jones talks to Kate about his new work, Coventry Moves Together, which was commissioned by Coventry UK City of Culture for their inaugural day of events on 5th June, and which takes the ideas of the city's most pioneering composer, Delia Derbyshire. Kate talks to Chenine Bhathena, the Creative Director of Coventry UK City of Culture about the promises that she is making to the people of the city. Birmingham-born conductor, and recently appointed Music Director of Birmingham Opera, Alpesh Chauhan, has made Coventry his home over the last few years and talks to Kate about his impressions of the city and its cultural significance. Arguably Coventry's biggest musical export is 2-Tone Music, and Kate follows the 2-Tone trail with Neville Staples of The Specials and visits the Coventry Music Museum set up by Pete Chambers, who has devoted his life to finding out about Coventry's music history from Roman Times to the now. Central to his museum is his homage to The Specials' chart-topping song, Ghost Town.
In this week's episode: Stephen has a revelation when he finds out what caused his recent illness and also learns he is set to feature in a new book. Ryan speaks about a bizarre new fashion trend he's embracing and starts to plan a meet and greet with the fans of his and Stephen's weekend breakfast radio show. Stephen forgot to do a feature this week but Producer Paul saves the day with an improvised game based on amazing facts in a quiz he likes to call Un-ste-lievable Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/dodgingdeathpodcast Email us: dodgingdeathpodcast@gmail.com Follow us on Instagram: @dodgingdeathpodcast Follow Stephen on Instagram: @stephenwilliams.jr Stephen's website: www.stephenwilliamsjr.com About the show: Dodging Death is an improvised weekly comedy podcast, hosted by Stephen Williams Jr and Ryan Paton. Join them for an hour of generally uninformed, irrelevant chat - where they discuss topics such as being an accidental Peeping Tom, sleeping in the same room as Mother Teresa, and getting shouted at by Santa. Stephen is an openly gay, cruise ship magician - and is proud to be at the front of that much underrepresented part of society. He is often heard regaling anecdotes such as how he found himself as a performer on a swingers cruise, his lowest life moment being with Paul Daniel's son at a patisserie in Brazil, and how he tried to blend in at an Australian dive bar. In hindsight, the floral shirt and exposed ankles were a mistake. Ryan has been Stephen's best friend since they first met at 11 years old and shared a communal love for the anecdote. He is the marketing manager for an afternoon tea company, is yet to attend a none catastrophic yoga class, and once got heckled by an eleven year old for being too scared to go on a water slide. He's also openly hetero, although his constant praise of ABBA could lead you to believe otherwise. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/dodgingdeath/message

In this week's episode: A miscommunication mishap means Producer Paul joins Stephen and Ryan for the first half of the show from his mobile. Stephen has another new job which which made his attempts to fill out the recent census spiral into disaster and he also tells us how he has resorted to embarking on scenic tours of industrial estates. Ryan has again embodied his inner Michael Portillo when seeking validation on a new stripy jumper and explains why he insists on still wearing his formal shoes when working from home. In addition to his lateness, Producer Paul regales how he fell victim to an April Fools gag. It's Ryan's turn to host the feature this week and he was inspired by the recent Bank Holiday weekend to create an Easter themed game called, "The Gee-ster Bunny!" In today's episode, I am so excited to be speaking with the extremely talented and driven Bachot Muna, jazz pianist, sound engineer, singer, music producer and extraordinary human. He shares his journey from being a barefoot child growing up in a village in Cameroon to professional musician living in Europe. Bachot decided when he was 9 years old that he would one day live in Europe. His mother asked him not to leave Cameroon, but Bachot felt the magnetic pull to Europe and was so determined to go, that he made the 15 year-long journey to become a musician in Europe. Bachot is self-taught on several instruments, but found his real love in playing piano. I am so impressed with his determination, extreme focus and unwavering belief in his abilities and calling, and I know you will be too. You won't want to miss when he shares his story about how he managed to cross borders, even when he didn't have money or a place to stay, and yet, he managed to convince border officials to allow him to stay and continue his journey through western Africa to Europe. Bachot reminds us to be honest with ourselves, follow our dreams no matter what, and to not be discouraged, even when things don't go our way, because we will learn so much along the way. In Nigeria Bachot conducted an orchestra of 16 people with whom he took part in the "Sokoto Fishing Festival". Due to political unrest in the country, he was forced to leave and went successively to Benin, Togo, Niger, Burkina and ended up in Abidjan. Melding a unique combination of musical influences from many African nations, Bachot has created his on genre with the Afro Jazz fusion and Afro Pop music scene by fusing native rhythms with funk, soul, Latin Jazz and jazz. And now, Bachot has just release his new album entitled "Back To The Roots". But what inspired Bachot to compose the album Back To The Roots? After performing the Montreal International Jazz Festival 2013, Bachot decided to come out with a new album project. But the most important for him was to work with other experimented and expressifs musicians around the world. First of all, Bachot wanted to find a great Brazilian percussionist, because he had in mind to record and Afro Jazz Fusion Album. Bachot went to meet his friend Andre Bontems owner of Avalon Studio Brussels and told him his ambition. Andre Bontems after listening to Bachot said to him, I wanna show you something. He brought out a live video he recorded where was performing a wonderful Brazilian percussionist named ZE LUIS Nascimento , Bachot was blow out by the performance of this guy, and he said to Andre his friend, this is my man. The first piece of the puzzle was found. It is important to notice that ZE LUIS Nascimento perform often with Michel Legrand and many French great artists. Bachot started the recording in Paris at Bopcity studio with ZE LUIS Nascimento, where he recorded the percussions and some vocal parts of Essukud'am, Hey Ohohah with the participation of his nephew Ray Dikoumé. And after Paris Bachot flew away to Tallinn at Green Room Studio to record with the bass player Kareel Liive, the guitarist Paul Daniel, and the great Trombonist Eduard Akulin who did a tour with Freddy Cole the brother of Nat King Cole few years ago. And then back to Brussels where Bachot recorded lady Dunia Molina cristal voice parts . The mixing and mastering done in New York City, was handled by the 13 grammy awards winner Mike Makowsky. (Mike credits: Amy Winehouse, Mariah Carey, Gorillaz, Usher, Maxwell, John Legend, Kenye West, Kid Cudi, Jim Jones, Kelis, Nas, etc..) This album "Back To The Roots" is a mix of African Brazilian groove and Jazz. The final result is a pleasant and groovy Afro Jazz Fusion album. (Heavily recommended this genius to everyone...Amazing talent, said Mike Makowsky) All those who have listening to this album "Back to the roots" of Bachot are unanimous that it's an so happy and uplifting album, full of great spirit, émotion and happiness that capture your soul. (Anecdotally, when Mike Makowski was mixing with Bachot and the music began to sound like Bachot wanted, then Bachot smiled with pleasure, Mike looked the spirited smile and said, I feel that I am in the studio with Miles Davis, you really resemble like him a lot) January 2016, Bachot won "the Akademia Awards" Los Angeles for best Latin Song from his track "Samba Makossa", and in 2017 he won another award of best Afro soul with his track" A Muto" 2018-2020.
