The term Carthaginian Peace comes from Rome's sacking of the city of Carthage, where they supposedly poured salt onto the land to ensure the North African city could never rise again. It was applied to the peace settlement with the German's by economist John Maynard Keynes. In spite of popular adherence, it is a view that many prominent historians consider to be a myth. In this episode, we speak to Paul Vincent, Co-Owner of S.E.H. Kelly. A timeless menswear brand, producing enduring utility garments. What makes them stand out from other British Brands? Well, these guys source all their materials from the British Isles and behind each supplier, is a unique maker's story. We discuss with Paul the reasons for setting up a luxury menswear brand off the back of the 2008 economic collapse and what it takes to be a source and manufacture in the UK today, as well as some sound sourcing advice along the way. S.E.H Kelly, in our opinion, is the epitome of a true British brand.

Brother Paul-Vincent Niebauer was a terrible student. So terrible that life as a circus ring-master - a profession he had earlier professed a desire to pursue - was the clear choice over studying to be a pastor. Paul-Vincent "hosted" over 6500 circus shows in his career. The secret to keeping it fresh for him? Imagine you're in the audience watching it for the first time. Put yourself in the shoes of your audience, and it's impossible for any message you're delivering to be boring. After his circus career was over, Paul-Vincent chose to reside at St. John's Benedictine monastery in St. Cloud, MN - where he resides and serves the Lord to this day. Circus ring master. Benedictine monk. Sounds like they're worlds apart. But when your focus is on God, you realize how small and similar these worlds really are. In this episode, you'll discover: -The road to service to God and the circus...04:32 -Why the circus was the clear choice over the ministry...13:30 -The secret to sharing a message (or show) 6500 times as though it's the first time..18:16 -The contrast between life as a ring master and a Benedictine monk...25:07 -How life in a monastery promotes unity, conflict resolution among your brothers...28:45 -Why the monastery is NOT the only way to find God or inner peace...33:00 -The one thing about monastery life Brother Paul-Vincent wishes everyone could experience...35:57 -This life isn't the whole show; it's just the intermission...40:44 -And much more...
