First, we explore the often-avoided topic of long-term care. While many of us prefer not to think about it, the reality is that we're living longer lives, and that means we need our retirement savings to stretch as far as we do. Unexpected medical expenses, especially those related to long-term care, can take a significant toll on your finances. We discuss a recent client case where an addition of $800,000 to their portfolio ensured they were prepared for long-term care expenses, granting them financial security. We also share a cautionary tale of someone who had a million-dollar portfolio but was unprepared for the financial strain of a prolonged illness. The lack of a comprehensive plan to address long-term care led to significant financial difficulties for the family. It's a stark reminder of why addressing long-term care in your retirement plan is crucial. The financial landscape is ever-changing, and there are new opportunities to optimize your retirement plan. It's essential to explore all options to ensure your financial security in your golden years. If you're retired or nearing retirement, call Kevin NOW to schedule a Portfolio Review!

In a recent survey of 2,000 individuals, conducted by a Harris Poll, a staggering 70% found retirement planning unnecessarily complicated. That's a sentiment many of us can relate to. So, where are people turning for information? The survey revealed that 43% rely on their own research, while 39% look to their employers, 27% seek advice from family members, and only 10% attend retirement planning classes or seminars. Steve recognizes the challenges of navigating this complex landscape. He acknowledges the frustrations many face when trying to decipher financial jargon and overwhelming information online. Retirement planning should be straightforward, centered on the idea of saving to replace your paycheck when you retire. But, as Steve points out, the financial world has a knack for making simple concepts seem daunting. That's where Steve steps in as a translator and educator. His mission is to simplify retirement planning and help his clients understand their options. He's a firm believer in providing clients with all the available choices, as acting in their best interests is his top priority. Steve emphasizes the importance of protecting your hard-earned money, especially as you approach retirement, when it becomes increasingly difficult to recover losses. Steve's dedication to demystifying retirement planning led him to write the book "Tee Up Your Retirement," a resource designed to provide a foundational understanding of retirement finances. He's even offering free copies to those seeking guidance. If you're feeling overwhelmed by the complexities of retirement planning or just want to ensure you're making the right decisions for your financial future, Steve and his team at Fairway Financial are here to help. They'll guide you through the maze of options and tailor a plan to fit your unique needs. #retirement #financialplanner #financialliteracy #wealth #fyp #podcast Visit Fairway Financial TODAY for your complimentary Portfolio Review! In s3e31 of Platemark, host Ann Shafer speaks with Lothar Osterburg, artist, professor and leading expert on the fine art of photogravure. These are basically photographs transferred to copper plates and printed as etchings. (It's, of course, more complicated than that.) In this way, it is possible to get images to print with continuous tone, as opposed to half-tone, or stepped biting. The results are luminous photographs printed with printer's ink. It's a result that cannot be achieved in any other way. Of course, one can manipulate the plate after etching the photographic image into it, adding drypoint, engraving, and even further etching. These hybridizations are intriguing, rare, and special. There are very few practitioners who are truly experts in it. Lothar helps us understand the process, and we take a look at both his work as a master printer at Crown Point Press in the 1990s, and his own work in which he builds sculptures (often in miniature) and photographs them to create eerie scenes that recall the antique and conjure fantasy. Here we continue our conversation about getting feedback on our work. The last episode was focused on getting positive feedback and how that can be important too, but the best way to grow is by getting CRITICAL feedback, or CRITIQUE. This opens us up to bruised egos and discouragement, but in the end, if we want to grow, we really need it. In this episode I share one experience in getting feedback on my work, and how it both stung and helped me grow. I then give some ways in which we can seek critical feedback on purpose — who can we reach out to for it, and how can we get the most out of it?
