It's easy to be average but hard to be great because greatness is achieved through sacrifice, hard work, and determination. Many seek excellence in life and career, but few are willing to sacrifice. Only determined people can make an extra effort to push themselves beyond their limits and face failure with resilience. Consequently, this journey toward greatness is not smooth since hindrances and challenges are unavoidable. For instance, in athletics, we must strive to provide necessary resources and support to young athletes, which involves effective coaching, rekindling their passions, and building self-confidence. Au programme, une face et un capot avant revus et plus effilées, des jantes et des feux arrière également redessinés.   Mais les nouveautés ne concernent pas que la ligne de la voiture. A l'intérieur aussi il y a du changement, avec notamment un nouvel écran 12 pouces de série sur toutes les versions, un système d'infodivertissement amélioré, et des matériaux plus qualitatifs. Côté technique, la nouvelle ID.3 conserve les mêmes batteries de 58 et 77 kWh et la même puissance moteur, mais voit sa puissance de charge augmenter, pouvant atteindre désormais 170 kW pour la version à grosse batterie. L'autonomie annoncée se situe quant à elle entre 427 et 557 kms WLTP selon la version. Au niveau des tarifs, cette nouvelle ID.3 est disponible à partir de 42 990 euros TTC en France. With the Hawaii IRONMAN World Championships looming, one can't help but wonder about the level of performance to expect from an ever-growing field of high-performance athletes whose athleticism seems to trend upward every year. Beyond Kona, professional triathlon has witnessed performance and endurance levels rise and the makeup of endurance athletes shift based on the growing demands and expectations of the sport. In today's episode of the Purple Patch Podcast, IRONMAN master coach Matt Dixon uses his experience as both an athlete and coach to examine the shift over the past few decades in the athletic approach to training, nutrition, recovery, and all the elements needed to perform at the professional level in today's triathlon landscape. Matt takes a look at the future of Professional Triathlon through the lens of its past by highlighting 6 main principles he has observed around the changing of the sport. The Application of Science: Improved access and understanding of scientific data for optimal training and recovery. (34:03) "We have seen over the last five to ten years, a wonderful marrying of coaching, experimentation, research and applied research on the fly, or with a collaboration to accelerate learning of what truly works, and perhaps most importantly, what doesn't work. There has been a radical increase in the understanding of what it takes to achieve performance improvements." Triathlon as a First Sport: Early exposure and focus on a multisport approach. (37:28) "In the last few years, we genuinely are starting to see athletes that grew up as triathletes. It was their first real elite experience. And with this, we started to see the average age of world-class being dramatically reduced." Perceptions of Possibility: the elevation of athletic performance through breakthrough individual performances in all three disciplines. (39:58) "There is simply no place for being a weak bike rider. You cannot excel without being a great runner. And you also have to ultimately swim at or very, very close to the world-class level in swimming. It's a prerequisite now." Evolving Nutrition and Fueling: The evolution of science and approach in stabilizing energy, predicting performance levels, and improving recovery. (44:41) "this has proved to be a genuine and serious performance paradigm shift, particularly in long course racing, those that are benefiting from it, they're bonking less and experiencing less gastric distress." Advancements in Equipment Technology: The radical increase and optimization of technologically advanced triathlon equipment. (47:05) "Gimmicks are less dominant now. There's a smarter filter going on. And the access to all of this equipment is much more democratic." Structure of the Sport: The shift in race format and approach by the Professional Triathletes Organisation. (49:29) "The race formats and the structure has elevated the required range of participating pros. And I predict that this is only going to accelerate over the next three, four, or five years. What it means to be a serious professional triathlete is going to change." VOLKSWAGEN ID.5 ELECTRIC CAR WILL RIVAL TESLA MODEL Y IN 2022 - VOLKSWAGEN has taken the covers off its new ID.5 electric SUV-coupé, which features sleeker styling, a 323-mile range and slightly upgraded tech compared to its ID.4 sibling. Both models could be considered rivals to the Tesla Model Y, which arrives in the UK from early 2022, as well as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 - As the ID.5 is based on the same underpinnings as the recently-launched VW ID.4, the engineering and overall footprint is the same. It's only in profile and from the rear that the ID.5's visual differences become apparent; rather than a truncated hatchback rear end, the ID.5's roofline slopes down towards a rear spoiler atop the boot-lid. - One key difference between the ID.5 and ID.4 is that the former gets just a single (77kWh) battery option. The range is divided into three basic levels when it comes to powertrains — Pro, Pro Performance and GTX. - In Pro and Pro Performance models, a single electric motor drives the rear wheels delivering 172bhp and 201bhp, respectively. At the top of the tree, the GTX gets dual motors, one acting on the front axle and the second on the rear, making it all-wheel drive. Total power output of the GTX is 295bhp, which is enough to propel it from 0-62mph in 6.3 seconds — over a second slower than the Tesla Model Y Long Range and 2.6 seconds slower than the Model Y Performance.
