Nacimiento: 16 de marzo de 1892, en Santiago de Chuco, un pueblo andino de la sierra norte del Perú. Creció en un hogar humilde, de raíces indígenas y españolas, lo que marcó su sensibilidad social y poética. Inició estudios universitarios en Trujillo, donde entró en contacto con círculos intelectuales y literarios. Posteriormente se trasladó a Lima. Obra literaria:Poesía temprana: Los heraldos negros (1919): libro profundamente marcado por el dolor humano, la muerte y la angustia existencial.Etapa de vanguardia: Trilce (1922): obra revolucionaria, de lenguaje experimental y ruptura con la métrica y sintaxis tradicionales. Es considerado uno de los libros más innovadores de la poesía hispanoamericana.Obra madura: Durante su estadía en Europa escribió poemas que se publicaron de manera póstuma en Poemas humanos (1939) y España, aparta de mí este cáliz (1939), de gran carga social, política y humana. En 1923 viajó a París, donde vivió gran parte de su vida en condiciones de precariedad. Allí conoció a figuras como Pablo Neruda, Juan Larrea y Vicente Huidobro. Se casó con Georgette Philippart, su compañera hasta el final. Se comprometió con causas sociales y políticas, simpatizando con el marxismo y apoyando a la República durante la Guerra Civil Española. Falleció en París el 15 de abril de 1938, en plena Guerra Civil Española. Neruda escribió que Vallejo fue “el más grande poeta del siglo XX en todos los idiomas”. Vallejo renovó la poesía en lengua española con un lenguaje de intensa humanidad, cargado de dolor, pero también de esperanza y solidaridad universal. Su voz sigue siendo un referente en la poesía mundial.
